Review: Charles Montgomery finally gives his mate, Sam, a tiger shifter, an ultimatum after a year of being kept a secret. Either claim Charles and finally let everyone know or don’t bother coming back. Sam finally claims him after loosing control of tiger that he’s kept under control for a long time.

Interesting story about a tiger shifter who was beaten and kicked out of his home for being gay, ends up with Gideon’s pack, and finds his mate in a vampire. Hot and intense sex scenes.

Good read.

Blurb: Thirty-seven-year old fitness fanatic and gym owner John Moorcroft has always known he was gay, and he has always had a problem admitting it, even to himself. After a failed attempt at a relationship with Roslyn, his long time female BFF, he knows he must take a hard look at himself. The first thing John does is to try to find out what happened to his mother who disappeared when he was four years old. Roslyn recommends Sky Cook Investigations to help him. The first time John meets Sky he finds himself extremely attracted to the man’s bear-like physique and eager to please manner.

Sky Cook, thirty-six years old, is sweet, mild-mannered and desperately in need of a health regime. He knows he needs to lose weight but is thwarted by issues from his childhood. Sky also wants a loving, yet dominant man to direct him, so when John suggests they barter services, the perfect storm for a relationship unfolds.

Review: I was skeptical about reading a book that flowed around the issue of eating disorder/weight management, but this book really surprised me and hit a much deeper note. The issues John tangles with are mistrust and hiding from himself, which his ex manages to find a perfectly good solution for…Sky Cook.

Sky is happy to avoid hard truths, and his own past. The issues of his eating are much deeper than we expect and the author does an excellent job at examining the psychological and physical reasons behind over eating or binge eating in Sky’s case.

The BDSM elements seem to be a perfect fit in this situation, because Sky needs discipline and safe controls, and John needs to be able to control something if not his own love life.
So many interesting twists and turns in this plot. There’s the mystery of John’s mother, and Sky’s past, the D/s scenes, and the obvious attraction the two have for each other.

I don’t want to give away big reveals because this book grabbed my attention and held it through as each secret was unveiled. Well written, this book moves along at a steady clip with a unique plot and very intense scenes. The Skinny On Love really evoked may reactions in me; I bit my nails, I wanted to grab a snack, I wanted to cry, I wanted to go run a few miles, I wanted to throttle both MCs at different points, and I certainly enjoyed the steamy scenes.

Very hot, very surprising, this book really impressed me!

Blurb: In work and in love, life has taught seasoned police officer Jack that closeness only leads to pain. But Jack is wracked with guilt when his rookie partner Kevin is shot during an undercover assignment and dies in his arms. Why didn’t he take the time to get to know the rookie a little?

At the funeral, Jack takes a liking to Kevin’s brother, Devin. But Jack knows making a connection can cause more hurt, and living on opposite coasts is an added obstacle.

With his brother dead, Devin feels a responsibility to Kevin’s pregnant widow, Marie. He packs up and moves east, only to have Marie, outraged that he’s put his life on hold, slam the door in his face. Devin turns to the only other person he knows in town. As much as it goes against his philosophies on life, Jack takes him in without hesitation.

Their tentative exploration into romance is interrupted when Devin is mistaken for his dead brother and taken captive. Just as Jack opens his heart, reality slams into him. But he can’t lose anyone else. More than the need to simply save a captive drives Jack to find Devin and bring him home.

Review: It’s extremely difficult for Jack to come to terms with the shooting death of his new partner on the force when an undercover op goes bad. His guilt over realizing how much he didn’t know about the Kid soars as he meets his dead partner’s wife for the first time and realizes so many new things he should have known about his partner; that his wife is also a cop, and that his Mother’s family is insane.

Jack helps Marie through her grieving, including two funerals, one home with them, and the other back in Alabama where Kevin’s family is from. While there, he gets the shock of his life when his dead partner greets him at the wake. If Jack had only paid attention to his now deceased partner, he’d know about his twin brother….Devin. Then Marie lays another shocker on him shortly after the dust has settled…she’s pregnant, and that ends in another surprise…if you miss the obvious hint with Devin and Kevin.

This is a tragic, surprising, funny, creepy, scary, and often times just ridiculous RomCom. I know, it’s hard to describe something as a romantic comedy when it starts with a tragic death, but that’s the overall feel I get from this book. There are just too many extreme situations, like living with someone with whom you are mutually attracted and not knocking boots much earlier. Maybe my experience is off, but really, a hot sexy man who wants you and you want him, and you manage to keep hands off for nearly nine months? Maybe this is actually a fantasy… but a cute one.

Blurb: In New South Wales, Australia, in 1876, sweating out a living from the savage, dry wilderness tests a man’s worth. Cattleman Jim Kelly gave up everything he knew to outrun the law with his lover Mark Turner. Struggling to survive, the two turn to crime and venture farther into the harsh outback. And while Jim is enthralled by Mark’s almost paranormal strength and physical power, he starts to question his love after seeing Mark’s explosive temper first hand.

Review: We pick up where Billabong left off, with Jim and Mark running from the law and finding work and sustenance where the can find it or take it. Though Mark resorts to holding up a small family wagon for food, Jim later realizes they not only paid for the food, but the holdup wasn’t even real.

Though Mark shows violence and hardness, those occasions where he does are to protect Jim or himself from life or death, or to right a wrong against old friends. Life as an outlaw isn’t quite what Jim had thought. Interesting characters are met along their route helping out as cattle hands, and things are going so well they let their guard down. That is until Mark and Jim overhear bad news in the small town after the end of their cattle run. Mark reacts, and the law comes down on them again, this time with no way out but the hangman’s noose. And that’s the cliffhanger Byrne leaves us with.

There are lots of hot and hard sexual encounters, my favorite being under the hot sun in a hard place! But I’ll save those deets for you, because you’ll want to grab this adventurous series set in the Australian outback with lots of hot cowboys and sexy men on the run!

Blurb: James Ayala thought life would be smooth sailing once he escaped from a Red Idaho reeducation camp and returned to Blue Oregon. He was supposed to get answers about the biocybernetic chip that made him empathic, face the man who implanted it, and then ride off into the sunset with his new boyfriend, Matt Tennimore.

Life, however, has other plans: the bad guy dies without giving them any answers, they left their horse in Idaho, and Gramma Anais finds a parasite on James’s implant-one that forces James into isolation. Matt just got James back to Oregon where he wanted him, and extraneous brain hardware or not, he has no intention of letting him go. But James hesitates to move in with him. Despite his hurt, Matt has to man up and do his job, leaving James behind, while the rest of the team struggles to find the real mastermind behind the implant and the parasitic “Trick”-before it takes over James’s brain. Review: This book is the second in a series that must be read in order or you won’t fully understand the concept behind the characters, world, and storyline.

Matt Tennimore and James Ayala managed to make it out of Red Idaho and have now returned to Blue Oregon, and Matt’s insane family. You know that old saying ‘no rest for the wicked’? The tenuous relationship between these two must endure a few more hurdles before they can have their happily ever after.

The parasite in James’s brain that enhances his psychic abilities has become dangerous, and Anais isolates him in an attempt to isolate the problem. While James is dealing with the ramifications of the implant, Matt is sent back into the Red zone for another extraction. If James survives the ever-evolving implant and Matt survives the extraction, will their still fragile relationship survive the anxiety that is a result of separation?

A lot of the things I loved about the first book were sadly missing in this book. Matt’s fierceness was absent, and that was one of his best qualities. He was overly emotional which bordered on annoying. There was a dry, witty humor surrounding 18 % as well that was rarely seen in this installment. I’ll give the author a pass on that aspect though as the story went a little darker this time around. Matt’s crazy and eccentric family is just as kooky as ever though, and the overwhelming attraction that Matt and James share was ever-present.

While the first half of the book is melodramatic, confusing and a bit slow. The story does pick up and remind the reader why you picked up the book in the first place. Because Tenino is an inventive writer and this world she has created is still highly engaging. So while I didn’t love this book, I did like it.

I still recommend this series, especially if you are a fan of the sci-fi/dystopian genre. Matt and James are still as sexy as ever and I look forward to seeing where Tenino goes with the relationship between Logan and Lazlo!

16-year old Russell is going on dates with girls while nurturing a secret relationship with star quarterback Kevin, who will do anything to prevent his teammates from finding out. Min and Terese tell everyone that they’re just best friends. And then there’s Ike, who can’t figure out who he is or who he wants to be. Finding the truth too hard to hide, they decide to form a Geography Club, thinking nobody else would want to join. However, their secrets may soon be discovered and they could have to face the choice of revealing who they really are.

Review: This movie is equal parts Romantic Comedy and Drama, there is a little bit of both evident while viewing. Russell has lived 16 years without questioning his sexuality. That is until the quarterback of the football team kisses him in the rain. A flip is switched that leaves Russell desperate to figure out who he is. He’s invited to join the ‘Geography Club’ by the one person that saw that rainy day kiss, a club that is made up of other LGBTQ teenagers.

While Russell and his struggles with not only his sexuality, but his personality overall, are the core of this movie there are so many supporting characters that make the movie a huge success. Russell’s best friend Gunnar is borderline over weight and never had a girlfriend. He sort of uses his friendship with Russell to snag a date. These two have their ups and downs but their long lasting friendship preservers and keeps them both strong in the end.Kevin is a closet case, plain and simple, which baffles the mind since his parents are the most accepting of anyone in the group.

Min is the president of the club, wanting a safe space for herself, her girlfriend and other LGBTQ students to come, share and feel safe. Her girlfriend Terese is large and in charge, but unsure if she wants to come out, and this cause problems for them. Ike is just adorable and absolutely hysterical going from saying he’s only ten percent gay to finally admitting he’s just flat out gay by the end.

It can’t be all sunshine and roses though, now can it. The guys on the team ostracize Russell as soon as he is outed by snot nosed rich bitch that plasters posters of Russell pulling away from a kiss, with a girl, all over the school. She does it because he rejects her affections, partly because he is gay, but partly because this is the girl that his best friend Gunnar likes. Russell also has to decide if he is going to be out and proud while his “boyfriend” Kevin hides in his closet.

This movie was so much fun. While there were some dramatic moments and a brief scene of bullying, there was some budding romance and a lot of side splitting laughs, especially ‘Flo’s Gay Dads!’ You will have to watch the movie to understand that reference. The acting was good for actors of this age, and the storyline kept me engaged throughout the entire movie.

Fans of Shelter, Latter Days and White Frog will love this movie. It’s streaming on Netflix and available through Amazon instant video. And then if you LOVE it, as I did, you can buy it on DVD, as well.

Tams’ Review: ♥♥♥♥♥4.5Hearts
Police Detective Max Bowman makes no secret to his fellow officers that he is gay, but he doesn’t flaunt it either. When out at a bar trying to unwind and grab a quick lay, he puts his trust in the wrong person. Max goes from passing out after being bashed and mugged to waking up in a dark room surrounded by red silk sheets. He can feel the remnants of the attack, but he has no memory of how he got where he is. Well, other than a pair of piercing green eyes.

Carter Grey has been on the run for close to eighty years. He realizes exactly what he is, a killer. But there is a suave and finesse to his style both inside and outside the bedroom. He seduces his meals and enjoys them fully before he drains them then buries them. He was going to drain Max as well, until he was caught up in those brown eyes and the enigma that is Max Bowman.

The two things these men do best is fight, and then make up. Carter is determined to live his life alone, soulless, without love. There is something about Max that calls to him though. He swears Max makes his breath catch and his heartbeat faster, which is saying something since he has no heart and hasn’t sucked a breath in almost a century. Max feels the pull to Carter as well, so much so that he can find Carter just by mentally wanting to. They don’t understand why they want each other so badly and they give a valiant effort to fight the attraction, well Carter does anyway. When an old enemy makes his presence known, Carter fears losing the one man who has made him feel in over eighty years over a false accusation.

Oh, but this book was fun! There was suspense, danger, a bit of comedy and flat out raw sexuality. The banter back and forth between Carter and Max made me snicker more than once. Carter is this other worldly, domineering personality that has to have his way and gives off the ‘I’m not budging’ vibe. While Max is a big, burly cop with the attitude and sex drive to match. There chemistry is immediate and electric, so much so that sometimes it was too much. Like I said, their two favourite things to do were fighting and each other, but the overuse of sex put a little bit of a damper on the story.

But overall, this was still well worth the read. If you are a fan of paranormal, vampires, sex on a stick alpha males and that added air of danger than this is the perfect book for you.

Lisa’s Review: ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts
I love Lisa’s stories and this definitely made my top ten of great mystery and suspense stories. She gives you characters that will draw you in and have you falling in love. It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and biting your nails waiting for these two men to get what they deserve.

Detective Max Bowman is in search of a killer in the middle of Las Angeles. There was something strange about these killings that kept him guessing, but he is soon to find the answers in a way he never thought he would.

Max was a damn good Detective but when the evidence and leads start drying up, he is left with questions. Although he should have thought just a bit harder on his decision of going out and having a drink. He gets his drink all right and then gets his butt handed to him by two very ruthless men. He slowly wakes up to a very gorgeous man looking down at him and he wakes up in a mood. A mood for sex, that is until he finds out that his sexy hero, is in fact a vampire. A vampire with an attitude.

Carter has been a vampire for a very long time and a published author for just a few years. When he finds a very sexy man, being beat up he decided to help him. Although to be truthful, he also wanted to drain him of his blood. But something was keeping him from going there. He wanted this man for more than blood, he just couldn’t figure out why.

Here there was two men wanting each other and they still needed to find out who was behind the killing. Carter found out who and knew that the man was coming for him. Too bad the man behind the killing was coming after the wrong vampire. Now all they had to do is to give in to their desires and fulfill their most wanted ideas. To keep each other safe and to learn that love over comes all other wants.

I loved this book and cannot wait for more from Lisa. Her stories always gives you sexy men, dangerous situations, suspense and mystery, heated desires, quirky attitudes, a touch of humor and the paranormal world. A world that I found myself captivated in and kept me there to the very end.

I would recommend reading this book especially if you want all of the above and so much more. It was an amazing read that I found myself wanting to read it more than once.

(Reagalos 02)

by

Rebecca Cohen

Upon taking the throne as High Lord of Katraman and Liege of Scura, Lornyc Reagalos’s focus on rebuilding one city and reassuring another leaves little time for his husband, Methian. Added to that, he must contend with the unexpected revelation that his grandfather, Romanus, set up his own religion and named an enigmatic figure called The One as its deity. Through some twisted interpretation of the signs left by Romanus, the Cerulean Cult comes to believe Lornyc is their god and invites him to sanctify the Cult as part of its five-hundred-year anniversary.

During the Sanctification Ceremony, the Cult’s holy relic, an orb given to it by Romanus, is split, releasing an entity that tears a hole in the dimensions. The species that guards the dimensions, the Valen, force Lornyc to fix the breach, or they will have him extinguished.

Now as Lornyc faces a race through the different planes of existence to capture the escaped entity, he must rely on his own Valen guardians to help him. With Methian and his family by his side, Lornyc must fight to repair the damage or lose his life.
