Review: I’m not entirely certain if I’ve read anything by Cheryl Headford but after reading Ari I was completely blown away. First and foremost, I would say that this is a young adult book, but that is just the start of it.

I’ve not come across many books where there are characters who are transgender and/or intersex (books that have addressed one or the other that I’ve read in the past and absolutely love are by Carol Lynne and Andrew Jericho). Here, however, we have on MC, Benji, who is transgender and a second MC, Ari, who is intersex. It is certainly a tricky area to cover in literature and I think that Cheryl has done an amazing job. Yet, like in any MM or FF book, we deal with the complicated emotions of the young characters as well as the reactions of the people around the young couple.

To be quite honest, everything that needs to be known before getting into spoiler territory is already stated in the blurb, so I won’t go over anything. You just need to head into this book knowing that Benji goes to a writers’ convention and meets his online pal, Ari.

Benji has had some heartache in the past when it comes to his family but I absolutely adored his little brother, Marc – at eleven he is somewhere between precocious kid and open-minded teen. Ari’s faced a lot of difficulty from people who are meant to love him when it comes to his condition. He has also faced some true horrors in the past as he had tried to find a boyfriend who accepts him for who he is, not what he is.

Ari and Benji make a quirky couple but the chemistry between them is great, the sweet and tender moments shared between them are nothing short of beautiful. I cannot find anything else to say because it all comes down to the fact that I think that this is brilliant. I love the themes and the way the characters develop. Ultimately, this is a story about love and healing and acceptance, and in a way this is something that most of us see things in life.

This is a wonderful coming of age tale, though at the same time it is an incredibly sweet love story. If you’re looking for something a bit different in the realm of LGBTQ romance fiction, I cannot recommend Ari enough.

Review: Talia Carmichael is one of my top five favorite authors. She writes a beautiful contemporary that usually has a great bit of humor in them. I love how the characters just seem to come together perfectly. I got a kick out of a rock star who is quirky and a fireman who is more than just heat.

Jade is a drummer in a band that is well-known. He decides he needs a bit of time off to rest and meets a sexy fireman that makes his fire burn hotter. Conrad takes one look at Jade and knows he wants the hot little number. There is a slow burn to make the flames hotter and their love is getting stronger.

I absolutely loved this book and look forward to the next story. It gave me just a bit of seriousness and quite a bit of humor that I love. I loved the bit of danger that is in it. My attention was captured from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. Actually my attention was caught with the cover. It made me want the book before I even read the blurb. It gave me everything I could ask for in a book.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I would definitely recommend this story.

possibilities_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Possibilities’ by T.A. Chase

When Dixon and Carson meet during a hurricane, neither imagined that moment would be the beginning of a new relationship.

Dixon White owns Billy’s Diner in Brevard County, Florida—right down the road from Patrick Air Force Base. He serves a lot of the servicemen and their families who live and work on the base and does it in honor of his brother who served as a SEAL until a motorcycle accident ended his life. When Dixon finds himself stuck in a broken down car just as a hurricane hits the area, he’s not sure how’s he going to get home.

Master Chief Sergeant Carson LaSalle is headed to the base when he drives by Billy’s Diner. He sees Dixon’s car there and stops, checking to see if everything is okay. He takes Dixon home, but can’t stop thinking about him.

After the hurricane blows through, both men meet again and the sparks fly. Possibilities open up for them to have a chance at finding love. They just have to be willing to try.

Tams ♥♥♥♥4 Heart review:
Carson LaSalle has had his eye on Dixon White since the day he got stationed at Patrick Air Force Base. When a storm hits and Dixon’s car breaks down, Carson finally has a reason to not only spend some time with Dixon, but to finally ask him out on a date. The two hit it off and soon sparks fly.

There was a lot of meat to this short story. Chase gives the reader a brief glimpse into Dixon’s life, his past, and why he owns the diner and makes it his mission to take care of others. Carson was just the perfect addition for him, a man who would be proud to stand by his side.

I would read a full length story for these two, would be nice to get a glimpse into Carson’s background.

lonelyheartsandyellowribbons_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Lonely Hearts and Yellow Ribbons’ by Stephani Hecht

Being apart from the one you love is the hardest thing to do, until you get them back to find they’ve changed…

PJ Ross Ervin is part of an elite force of rescue men from the Air Force. Only the best of the best make it through the program and get to wear the maroon beret. As such, he is proud of what he does and is happy to serve his country. The one drawback is that it takes him away from his long-time lover, Aden. Thankfully Ross’ deployment is over and he’s coming home.

Aden is excited to see Ross. But he can’t help but notice that his partner is having trouble adjusting back into the civilian world. Plus, there is the looming danger that Ross could be deployed again at any time. Will Ross have to leave to serve his county once more? And if so, can the pair survive the separation yet again?

Tams ♥♥♥3 Heart review:
Ross and Aden have been together long enough that Aden knows what to expect from Ross’s career as a military man. When Ross comes home on leave, they use their time wisely to get reacquainted with one another. But this time Aden notices that Ross is having trouble leaving the job at the door. With another deployment looming, Aden worries for Ross more than ever, but supports his man regardless.

My favorite things about this short story were the yellow ribbons first off. As a former military wife and a military brat, I can appreciate that little addition. When Ross opened the cabinet and found the spools of ribbon, I smiled, that was perfect. And then Aden finally being accepted to the Wives group, which needs a new name by the way with the influx of same-sex military couplings.

Cute story though.

venetianskies_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Venetian Skies’ by Morticia Knight

No one wants to lose a love that’s meant to be. Air Force test pilot, Chris Pierce, returns to Italy to discover that second chances are the sweetest.

They had a love that was the real thing, but Chris, an Air Force test pilot, returns to Aviano Air Base in Italy to discover that the only man he’s ever loved is still there. Yet wasn’t that why artist Brandon had dumped him? Because he didn’t want to be tied down to one place or one person?

Brandon made a huge mistake. It wasn’t until Chris transferred out of the local military base that he realizes what they had together was the real thing. Even though he’s never settled in one place for very long, he couldn’t bear to leave the town of Aviano where he and Chris were so happy together.

Chris unexpectedly returns and Brandon is devastated when Chris rejects him out of anger. Can’t Chris see how much Brandon has changed in the two years they’ve been apart?

Second chances are the sweetest and love that’s meant to be doesn’t die. But when a MiG fighter jet gone rogue shoots Chris down, will their second chance be taken away forever?

Tams ♥♥♥♥♥5 Heart review:
Chris is an Air Force pilot returning to the base he left when his former lover broke his heart. Since Brandon was such a free spirit that refused to be tied down, Chris is certain his ex is long gone from Aviano. His first night out at their old favorite haunt, Chris runs into Brandon. Well, more like Brandon is searching for Chris. With the pain of the past still fresh in Chris’s heart, can Brandon convince him he was wrong, to give them another shot at happiness?

Okay, I need a full novel for this one. I would love to see where Chris and Brandon started, where everything went wrong and then beyond this short story to the chaotic future I’m certain they have. What Knight delivered with Venetian Skies was a synopsis of a story that only made me thirsty for more.

Short, Sexy and Steamy!

searchandrescue_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Search and Rescue’ by Jenna Byrnes

Two parajumpers freefall into a stealthy relationship before considering how quickly it might come crashing to an end.

Airman First Class Matthew Billings has almost completed a grueling two-year training program on his way to becoming a Pararescueman in the Air Force Special Operations Unit. On a mission to rescue a child lost in the Pecos Wilderness of New Mexico, he meets Master Sergeant Drake Bogart, a man who is as infuriating as he is handsome.

When Matt spots the child and Drake gets the credit, sparks fly, in more ways than one. But with graduation just a few days away, is their fledgling relationship over before it even gets started?

Tams ♥♥♥3 Heart review:
This short story has potential to be an enemies to lovers type of story. Matthew Billings is climbing the ranks as a Pararescueman and holding his own, to spite Drake Bogart taking all the credit.

When Drake goes against Matthew’s preconceived notions and not only admits his attraction to the Matthew, he takes him home and seduces him, it looks like the perfect friends with benefits relationship might be forming. Until Drake says something stupid again.

This story had potential, but I had trouble liking Drake. He came across as cocky and arrogant and even when he apologized, I just never warmed to the character. There were some sexy times and I liked that Matthew stood his ground with the more dominant Sergeant.

I think this one definitely needs to be a full story so things can be elaborated and expanded on.

livefortheday_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Live for the Day’ by Sarah Masters

Loving your best friend is easy. Telling him you do…well, that’s the hard part.

Michael and Steven grew up together—just them, no girls allowed. They’d always planned to join the military, but when it came time to sign up, Michael couldn’t do it. For years, Michael has worried every time Steven is out in the desert, risking his life to serve and protect. He dreads the day Steven won’t come home.

Steven has been through a dreadful ordeal on duty, and while in the hospital, he’s had time to think about what’s important in life. He misses Michael—needs to get back home to be with him—and he has something he wishes to say, something he’s held inside as far back as he can remember…

When the two men reunite, revelations are the name of the game. There is no question they’ve always loved each other, but now that they have the chance to express that love, will they?

Tams ♥♥♥♥♥5 Heart review:
The way this particular story started reminded me of old Hollywood love stories. Seemingly unrequited love. Seeing your love coming toward you, certain it’s a dream or a mirage, and yet, he is real.

Michael is sitting in his favorite café missing his best friend Steven something fierce, wishing he were there so Michael could finally be honest with him about how he feels when suddenly, and Steven is there. Between the long absences that are driving Michael insane with worry, and Steven being hurt during his last deployment, both men are done dancing around the truth.

Oh but I love this story the best of them all. I could see Michael sitting in the café, staring out the window, longing for Steven to ride in on a white horse, and then they could ride off into the sunset together. Though it was far removed from that that was the feel of the story. Once these two were finally honest about their feelings, things got a little steamy.

This is another one I’d love to read going back and giving more details of their friendship and the years of them growing closer even if they were apart, then go forward and show their happy life together.

Le Sigh.

Sometimes the best laid plans are meant to be thrown way off course.

Hunter planned his life very well. He’s got his position in the Air National Guard, the family he’s always wanted and a life most people would love to have. Except he’s not happy. His friends all know his truths, but them knowing about his sexuality and him admitting it are two different things. Thankfully Ryder—his best friend—has always got his back.

Ryder has loved Hunter since they were in school. He wants to have more than Hunter’s back—he wants everything. Forcing his Guardsman to come out as a gay man wasn’t on his agenda, but Ryder isn’t above a bit of gentle nudging.

Will the things Hunter can’t control be his undoing, or will he accept who he is as well as the love he’s craved all of his life?

Tams ♥♥♥3 Hearts review:
This one was a little odd for me. Ryder and Hunter have been best friends forever, and that is about how long Ryder has been in love with Hunter. He is respectful and keeps his distance, hiding his true feelings while Hunter tries to convince everyone, including himself, that he is straight. When they finally face their feelings, it seems like a HEA is in the works. Not so fast… both men teeter back and forth to the extent that I almost got whiplash.

I liked that Hunter was adamant that he remain true to the commitment he made to those two little girls, but the I love you too, wait… I have to take care of the girls. I want you too… wait, I can’t come out. Ryder understands and doesn’t push. Then when Hunter changes his mind and wants to come out and be true, Ryder starts pushing Hunter away.

There was potential here, and a little bit of angst would have been fine, just too angsty for my taste.

Review: Sweet short story about competitive swimmer Tomas Lundquist and massage therapist, Darren Wright. These two seemed to be well matched and brought out the others stronger qualities as well as helping where the other struggled. There are some hot scenes between these two characters as the story progresses.

I loved both characters.

Review: I came across Leta when her first book in this series came out. I must admit that it was hot. I have never been in to books that involve sports but this one just grabs your attention that is for sure. The guys are so damn hot and leaves you panting for more. Although they had to go through some pretty big hoops to get to the happy ending.

Now I am also not one for the BDSM life style, but damn after reading this I wasn’t sure about that in the end. Matty is back for more. He was a figure skater who had captured Rob’s heart. Now that they have both settled into their new lives, things are about to change. Matty is going to be teaching the darlings in how to skate and Rob is going to be a physical therapist. However Rob is missing his life in the country.

Matty is getting to deep into the scenes and his life is going out of control. Robbie is trying his hardest to keep Matty grounded, but he is not sure what is going to happen. He needs to step up and make Matty see that things needed to change.

There is so much pain in the story that you wonder if they are going to make it. However one must have faith that love beats all. Now for me I wanted to smack Matty upside the head. Now it is missing something for me to truly love, but it was a fun read. I had a blast reading it and look forward to reading the next book.

I would definitely recommend it.

Review: This is the second book in the Supremacy of Wolves series.

Jay, rebel leader of territory three has been given a gift from another rebel. An Alpha wolf named Devon. Devon has been abused and starved and Jay is incensed that anyone or anything has been treated this way so nurses him back to help.

Amid mistrust, hope, feelings of betrayal the two men become closer. When Devon tells Jay they are mates Jay refuses him. There is so much mistrust in this book between the two. But I understood why, as Devon had been kidnapped and hurt by humans intent on harming every wolf they could. I really liked that Devon and Jay switched back and forth even though Jay was the more dominating male.

Jay was very alpha and dominating. I really enjoyed the entire book. It flowed smoothly, kept the reader’s interest by combining, suspense, adventure, action, drama and intense situations. I can’t wait to see what these two authors have in store for the next book. Fantastic story with some hot sex to add spice.

Highly recommended.

Review: Loved this story about Jason, a human, mated to two powerful warrior dragons, Phobos and Draco. It bothered me that humans in the tower seemed to have no rights at all and could be accused of anything and be convicted without any real evidence to the contrary as what happened to Jason.

I loved the fact that one of the things that bothered me in the first book was brought up in this book and something was put into motion to change it. The fact that families could put their adult children’s names in the lottery and keep the money they got from it without giving the kids any of it without their consent pissed me off as it was wrong. Then for the dragons to force that child they had to comply was horrible to say the least.

The young man who had this done to him just broke my heart. I understood why he was so angry but he should have handled things differently than he did. I thought the guards’ treatment of Jason was just downright nasty.

All in all this was a wonderful story fraught with mystery, suspense, and drama that keeps the reader intrigued until the very end. I could not stop reading until I was done. Loved it.

Highly recommended.

Review: Cupid’s Time is the first book in a series, a series that I have thoroughly enjoyed (I’ve read up to book 4). I really like Jess Buffett’s writing style. There is something about her writing style which helps me connect with her characters and just fall in love with the stories.

The premise for The Keepers series is interesting. “The Keepers” are the beings that help guide humanity. Other than Cupid and Thyme [Father Time], from the top of my head, there is also The Sandman, Jack Frost and Santa among these beings.

Like many paranormal romances, The Keepers have soul mates but the catch is that only another Keeper can be their soul mate. But the Keeper needs to be “of age” to sense his mate, and when one is immortal, I guess when you’re 5000, like Cupid, you really aren’t of age yet.

Cupid is the youngest of the Keepers. He can’t sense who his mates is quite yet. He’s great at his job and enjoys it, he’s just sick of everyone else getting a HEA and him being left behind and without love. Cupid is all sweetness but he has a strong will and won’t even let Thyme, the one Keeper he lusts after, to play games with him.

Thyme on the other hand is all cockiness and bluster. Beneath that facade is thoughtful and loving, though is undoubtedly an alpha male. The only criticism I have for this book is that Thyme’s excuse for avoiding Cupid and the whole “underage” thing is a tad week. I think when a being is as old as they are the whole May-December story line is more difficult to believe.

So many of the characters, who do come up in later books, draw you in instantly – there is Nate and Harry especially, I love them, and as for Jack, well, he is an interesting sort.

However, in the end, this is just a cute piece and a quick read for anyone into the paranormal genre can enjoy.

Review: Beignet is the sequel to Coffee Cake, so if you’ve not read that one, go back. You won’t be disappointed and I doubt you’d get far in this book by skipping it.

We return to the lives of Bran and Malachi. Unlike the first book, where we explored Bran’s life as an asexual, we are instead exploring the life of the young, college age couple now that they’ve been together for six months. Other than Bran now aspiring to be a baker, Malachi is unsatisfied with his arts degree (though he is a talented artist), much of the book deals with the aftermath of the traumatic events of Coffee Cake which has led to Malachi having frequent panic attacks (it’s probably PTSD).

Malachi’s terror is very real and how Michaela Grey has dealt with it is both intense but definitely with the care and attention needed. I think I would have been disappointed, especially after the wonderful and personal way in which Coffee Cake was written, if Malachi’s trauma was dismissed with nothing more than he got a few nightmares and then he got over it.

That being said, with the characters already deeply developed, we develop a very relatable and very real layer of complexity to both men. Bran is a big, sweet teddy bear who is intent on making himself a better man than his father was after his abusive childhood. But that isn’t even scratching the surface, especially with the drama that plays out at the end as we begin to breathe a sigh of relief that everything is working out well. Seriously, I shed a few tears there!

I’m a little disappointed we don’t get to hear more from Bran, though the first book was more his story, and now in this instalment, it is Malachi’s story that takes priority. I’m also a little disappointed that we didn’t get to hear more from the big protective brothers, Tristan (Mal’s brother) and Callan (Bran’s brother). But honestly, they are just my personal thoughts and by no means took away from my enjoyment of the book.

This is a must read for anyone who has read Coffee Cake. But I think in general, this is an excellent series to indulge if you are looking to read a story about a couple of ordinary guys that is very complex and deep.

This inked biker is certainly not your ordinary kind of nanny, but the man’s instant rapport with his daughter convinces Aaron that Jordan is perfect for the job.

All Aaron has to do is keep his hands off his nanny—simple, right? Well, it would be if the two men could ignore the combustible, sexual tension between them. Jordan wants nothing more than to be allowed to take care of his new boss and his adorable baby.

Review: I haven’t had any experience with Doris’s books so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When coming across an author that I have not read, I am a bit leery of them. Although I don’t much care for short stories, because they grab you, tease you and then drop you. To be honest there are several mistakes that could have easily been avoided. Now I finished this book pretty easily however I needed more from it.

First off when interviewing a female for a nanny position and the girl hints that there could be something more, all I can say is run. However I do believe Aaron might have just been nuts. However he needs a nanny for his cutie pie of a daughter. I don’t think he expected one very sexy biker for the job. However his daughter knew the one she wanted it would seem.

Now the fact that this book comes off rushed is one of my issues and then there is the fact that it jumps time just drives me nuts. There is a problem with the way it is told also that will drive you to throwing the book across the room. The Dom and sub part is hot though. If not a bit bizarre. It comes off as a bit well off. I loved the fact that the nanny is a guy though. Also the fact that they can’t seem to keep their hands to themselves. Back to another problem though is the way they act towards each other is just funny as hell.

Now the cover is hot, the blurb gives you an idea of a story that will captivate you and then the story itself is not what I expected. I was hoping for a bit more in it. You can’t say that these two didn’t have chemistry though because hot damn they were smoking. Aaron is a dominate but I have to tell you that he acted the opposite in parts of it though. The way they acted with each other was what made the book though.

All over the story was a tad bit disappointing, but I had fun with it. I would like a bit more to the next story though. Not so much weirdness though. I can actually see myself reading this once more. I look forward to seeing what other stories this author has out.

Review: Oh this was one fun-filled story for me. I remember the Christmas story of the ghosts of past, present and future. This was representing that type of story but with a flare it would seem.
Peter and Colin are together but they are having problems. Every time something happens Peter runs. Colin just wants some stability in his life. Peter is afraid.

Then, and this is the fun part, Colin’s boyfriend who is dead shows up to show what has happened, what is going on and what will happen. Ren was a drag queen so he is fun to learn about. He needed to show Peter the truth. This story was very touching and had me in tears throughout it all.

Now this story was not for me, but it was a great story over all. It had me wondering about life. To be hurt and afraid is just not the way to live. Normally I would say I had a blast with the story, but this one did something better. It made me wish. I won’t say I loved it but I did enjoy the story and I would recommend it.

Blurb: This book includes content from the original, now super-secret manuscript, “Moments in Time: It is never too late to come out,” and has been modified, embellished and enhanced based on reader interest in the characters from the original series.

There is really only one moment in time we can cherish, that we remember through all of the good and bad times in our lives. If you can take that one moment of time and cherish it forever, it can bring joy where there is sorrow; happiness and hope where there is despair. This is a secret that we hold true to ourselves, to our hearts.

Sometimes you remember the first kiss, the first time you fell off your bike, and the person who was there to pick you up, or when you fell out of the tree, you remember who carried you bleeding to the hospital, or cleaned up your wounds and gave you encouragement and inspiration to go on.

But it is this secret you hold true deep down inside that you can sometimes forget. When all else fails, it was the one true thing that you were supposed to hold onto, it melds you into who you are, and who you will be. It helps you evaluate who you were, where you were, and gives you focus on who you want to become, and where you want to go.

“Red: Awakening” is the first in the Rainbow Reader series that reveals the sexual discovery, encounters and developing adventures that define the main character as he interacts with characters the readers wanted to know more about from the original Moments in Time series.

Enjoy the first in the Rainbow Reader series, “Red: Awakening.”

Review: The blurb is a lengthy one for such a quick read, but it outlines the premise of the series well. The Rainbow Reader series (which reminds me of school readers, lol) can be read in any order and as standalone stories, although they follow the life of main character, Georgie, over a span of thirty years.

The first installment, Red: Awakenings, is a rather information/plot packed story despite its length, so it at times it just felt like Georgie was just saying what happened and we didn’t go much further into things than that.

For the most part I enjoyed that, but part of me wanted to feel more of an emotional connection to the trials and tribulation of Georgie as he navigates high school and discovers himself and his desire for other men.

Review: I loved that Sean Michael gives not only more with Toby and Damon, but also Peter and Christian. This book almost blows the erotic meter off the charts. These two separate couples are seriously hot.

I enjoyed getting a look inside the relationship of Peter and Christian. The struggle Christian still has accepting his needs are clearly written. Peter does wonder with Christian and how to get him to be where he needs to be. There is more story there I believe that I cannot wait to be told.

It’s great to see that the relationship between Damon and Toby. They are still finding their way together and having fun as they do it. And finally there is a resolution to the mystery stalker of Toby’s.

This book is very hot and sexy, with some great tender moments. I look forward to seeing where this series will go next.
