Blurb: Gerald Smithson, master leathersmith, has ample reason to distrust mages. He doesn’t take their commissions and steers clear of them wherever possible. When Lord Leo Harris tries to hire him, Gerald sends the mage packing. Unfortunately, the simple act of Leo entering his shop brings Gerald to the attention of a Dark mage who kidnaps him as a chance to get to Leo.

Now Leo must not only rescue Gerald, but find a way to win his heart. It will be an unusual courtship, to say the least.

Review: This was a cute and interesting little short. It takes place in Regency England I believe, but it’s an alternative world. The Ancient Greeks long ago approved same-sex marriage and mages are commonplace.

Gerald is a local leathersmith reputed to be the best in London, exactly what Leo is looking for. But due to past experiences with mages Gerald refuses to do any work for them so he sends Leo on his way. Not that Leo lets that deter him, or the fact that Gerald gets kidnapped.

Not a lot of information is given on the characters, so their history is a little incomplete and questions are left unanswered. But it was definitely enough to pique my interest for more.
