The Blood Series features immortal vampires and vampire hunters who become immortal with a little help from the most powerful vampires, the “ancients” (born as vampires, not created from humans). The series begins with a scene where immortal Adrien Gilbert mourns the loss of the vampire he loves, Nicolas Lambert. Adrien lives in the 21^st century in Miami, Florida. He’s powerful, successful, and entirely miserable without Nicolas. The Blood Series is about eternal love and the certain knowledge of that love.

The Blood Series follows the story of Nicolas and Adrien from the late 1890s until the present, and in the second book in the series, Blood and Ghosts, Adrien realizes he has the ability to travel through time in his own body. An ability he can’t yet control. He’s thrust into the past in his teenage body, and he changes the future as a result of his actions.

In Blood and Ghosts, Adrien meets several iterations of Nicolas. The Nicolas who has known the future through Adrien’s memories, but who loses Adrien when Adrien leaves his teenage body behind. The Adrien left behind doesn’t have the benefit of the future Adrien’s experiences, and he despises vampires. That leaves Nicolas alone, without the Adrien he knows and loves. There’s also the Nicolas who is kidnapped by Pelletier, the man who wishes to end the truce between vampires and hunters. And, at the end of the second book, there’s a Nicolas who has never known Adrien.

But in spite of each Nicolas’s experiences, each Nicolas has a sense that he knows Adrien. Which got me to thinking…. Would you know your true love if you met him on the street for the first time? Each Nicolas recognizes that something about Adrien is different. He senses he’s met Adrien before, although he can’t place him.

Adrien’s immortality is a gift from the original Nicolas he knew and fell in love with. Nicolas’s vampire bloodline once allowed his ancestors to travel through time. And although Nicolas doesn’t possess that ability himself, his blood, combined with Adrien’s very unusual blood (you’ll have to read a bit more about that), creates an ability in Adrien that is both heartbreaking and the answer to Adrien’s happiness. But can Adrien convince each new Nicolas of his love? Will these Nicolases trust Adrien?
