The Story of  ALPHA, CALL, OMEGA & LION ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER FAVORITES

It’s been a couple years since Commander John Marion – the US Navy’s most decorated SEAL – hung up his dog tags, choosing his cherished Alpha over war.

Call and Alpha have settled comfortably into their carefree lives nestled in the mountains of South Carolina. No more combat for the Commander and no more ordered killings for the deadliest assassin in the world.

However, nothing stays peaceful forever.

When Alpha’s brother Omega comes to their secluded home with a distressing message from their Order, Alpha has to answer the call.  But what neither of them expect is for the Order to send them a new assassin, one just as deadly as both of them, to seek their counsel and bring them back Persia.

Lion’s commanding presence was not at all what any of them anticipated. Especially Omega. Lion realizes what Omega is to him right away, but the stubborn man fights his every advance. Lion knows he and Omega have to connect if they’re going to be victorious. He was sent to bring back an army but if he can’t get his cherished to yield to him, they are sure to fail.

Call refuses to let Alpha fight a gang of rebel assassins without him. Omega will fight by his brother’s side, no matter what… and Hawk saw them coming for his help before anyone else. Together they’ll fight the toughest opponents they’ve ever faced. As always… these badass warriors are up for the challenge.

Max is a firefighter for the Virginia Beach Fire Department. Max is beautiful, charming, and also very straight. One meeting with the mysteriously, sexy Angel DeLucca and a whiff of that silky, jet black hair, Max finds himself questioning everything he’s known to be true about himself. Max tries desperately to understand the new feelings he has for another man and turns to his gay, older brother…Ryker.

Ryker has always been Max’s protector and his guide their entire lives, which has left him feeling uncared for and alone to handle his own life’s problems. Ryker craves to be taken care of. He craves the attention and praise of a Master. No one knows the dark desires within him until Angel’s Chief of Security, Sebastian ‘Bass’ Bagatelli, shatters that secret with their first intense encounter.

How will Angel win the heart of the straight firefighter that was tailor-made just for him? Will Max be able to continue denying his feelings for another man? Can Ryker and Bass get through their personal issues to take and receive what they both need from each other? Or will they each give up on a happiness that appears too good to be true?

Review: Too Good to be True is the first book in AE Via’s series Blue Moon. It was released a few years ago, but I’m just late to this particular party. AE Via is also a new author for me, so I didn’t know what to expect and to make sure I went in with a blank slate, I only read the blurb and not any previous reviews that have been written for this book/series. I’m always a little apprehensive about starting a series by an author who is unknown to me and thankfully none of my concerns were founded.

The world of Blue Moon is introduced to us by Angel DeLucca. He is the owner of stunningly successful gay bar, Blue Moon. One day he catches a glimpse of Max Strong, he’s a successful firefighter and about to make sergeant (I think that’s the right rank). The problem is that Max, who has recently broken up with a girlfriend and has always considered himself straight. A talk with his overprotective, gay brother Ryker makes it clear to Max that his new attraction makes him at least bisexual or just gay-for-you when it comes to Angel. Both these guys are strong and they work well together. They both have their moments when there is danger to Angel, after acquiring a new club, where they both lose their strength but both have friends and the will continue if only for the other.

I love how these guys are together, it felt natural and relatable, though the plot line probably requires you to suspend your disbelief for a little bit. Who knew that two people could inadvertently (at least in Max’s case) know so many people that have very secretive and dangerous careers as special agents/special forces.

I’m going to have to say that how the book changed gears halfway through the book kind of disturbed me, not in a bad way but the change of gear threw me off for a few chapters. It started out as all Angel and Max, plus everyone else as minor characters. Then everyone else came out of the shadows and it became a book where there are no minor characters. But the love story is still between Max and Angel, with glimpses of whoever else could pair off and hopefully find their HEA in the future.

Side note: I am so glad that Ryker got his chance at a happy ending with his man too. I really loved this character, as much as I loved Max. Ryker is a protective big brother with a big heart. He just needed someone to nurture him for a change.

Mostly, this is for those that love their men hot and sexy and in uniform. This story has a number of fabulous strong heroes, very little angst and no damsels in distress – every character is strong in their own way.

Review: This is Reality is the second book in AE Via’s series Blue Moon. It was released a couple years ago, but I’m just late to this particular party since I want to read book 3 in the series. I was looking forward to this, and not let down, after thoroughly enjoying book 1 where we were introduced to all the guys in the series.

I wasn’t entirely sure what I was expecting with this book, but this is something of a departure to the world of the Blue Moon, the club owned by Angel DeLucca. Other than the Blue Moon bringing together the men who this book is focused on, I really didn’t find I’m particularly endeared to the series name. The story now takes a departure from the club and into the lives of government agents and an ex-special forces team. But that’s just small things that I need to overlook, I think.

There are two main couples in this book – with glimpses of what could possibly come in book 3 as the shady characters become more distinct. First off, there is Pierce (aka Backhander) and Hawk. Pierce was actually a firefighter in book 1 who suddenly declared that in his previous career he was a government handler and planned mission down to the final detail – and he had been damn good at his job. Now he’s been lured back onto that scene and now works with the Beastmasters. That is the name of the Navy Special Forces team including Hawk and Shot. Shot is the father of Angel in book 1. The second romance, and more in the background, is that between Shot and the FBI agent we met in book 1, Fox. Shot and Fox have been together but both need to take the final step to commitment with each other.

A new mystical element is added with it being revealed that Hawk experiences psychic visions that cannot be explained away as intuition.

This is a complex book full of, obviously, complex characters. I find it difficult to actually explain anything more without giving major details away. However, suffice to say, the latest mission Pierce is leading has encountered trouble when Omega, assassin for the Brotherhood (some cloak and dagger type, ancient organization of assassins from Persia) goes rogue. He and his partner, Alpha, were among the most deadly assassins, but for many reasons that I won’t go into here, Alpha and Omega lost their way.

Mostly, this is for those that love their men hot and sexy and in uniform. Also good if you like your world filled with assassins and spies and stories that literally kick ass.

This story has a number of fabulous strong heroes, very little angst and no damsels in distress – every character is strong in their own way. The characters are intense, maybe there are a couple broody types, but overall a fantastic novel!

Review: Call of the Alpha is the third and final installment of AE Via’s fabulous series, Blue Moon. Instead of restating what’s in the blurb, let me just quote it:

“THIS IS THE THIRD INSTALLMENT IN THIS SERIES and CAN STAND ALONE.
Book 2 is recommended to read first.
The Story of ALPHA, CALL, OMEGA & LION ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER FAVORITES

This book ends in an HEA and does not end in a cliffhanger.
This book contains graphic violence.”

There, that’s all the important information, now I can just talk about the book itself. I was really looking forward to the conclusion of this series after binge reading the first two books. For me, I was not disappointed. In fact, I am going to go as far to say that this is my favourite book in the series, though I also hold the first two books dear.

As the blurb states, we get to see the stories for a number of couples. First and foremost for the book, is the story of Alpha and Call. It’s been a couple years since the events of book 2 and while the guys have put aside their old lives of war, they still have their own internal demons to fight. They have chosen a life of seclusion together over being around too many people. They are sort of an odd couple but they work well together.

However, a visit from Alpha’s brother, Omega, changes things. Omega brings a message from another member, Lion, of the mysterious “brotherhood”, who believes that there is corruption within their sacred, ancient organization. It’s really nice that we get to learn more about the Brotherhood that trains these assassins, what they stand for and the whole concept of having a “cherished one”. It really helped me to understand the newer mystical elements introduced into the story in the previous book.

Speaking of mystical elements, the story brings us back to Hawk and Pierce (why did I just think of Hawkeye Pierce from MASH?). Hawk and his special visions are back in the forefront of the story. He’s been expecting Call, Alpha, Omega and Lion for 2 months and his visions have taken a turn for the more interesting! It seems the Beastmasters are ready to help the Brotherhood!

This is a wonderfully fantastic book. The chemistry, sexual tension and romance between these tough couples is awesome and to say that this is a page turner is an understatement. These characters and couples blend so well together and I have to admit that I found myself falling a bit for Omega, since I already got that way about Alpha in the previous book.

Mostly, this is for those that love their men hot and sexy and in uniform. Also good if you like your world filled with assassins and spies and stories that literally kick ass. This story has a number of fabulous strong heroes, very little angst and no damsels in distress – every character is strong in their own way. It’s all about the danger and the fun, really.

The characters are intense, maybe there are a couple broody types. This was a fantastic ending to an excellent series!
