Blurb: War is looming, and as the alpha, it falls to Dante to protect his shifter pack from the hybrid creatures spawned to prey upon them. To that end he joins forces with the Nephilim Odin in the hopes of keeping both their people safe, though past slights and animosity between the clans continue to cause strain. Attacks on the packs and Nephilim clans increase, and the seemingly endless army of hybrids will not stop growing. Dante knows their only chance to put an end to the carnage is to find the nest where his twin August and August’s mistress are creating the hybrids.

With entire cities being destroyed, Dante must call upon the pack weave to find the people who have been captured—and the nest. Dante and Odin gather an army for an all-out attack. Though a desperate and risky move, Dante has been backed into a corner and he sees no other alternative. It’s a battle they must win at any price, because the cost of losing will be catastrophic.

Review: I have to say this second installment was brutal in its intensity. The packs and Nephilim join forces to stop a mad woman, Evaline an ancient Nephilim and august from creating more dangerous hybrids. The making of the hybrids is horrifying. Though those being attacked have no idea how it is being accomplished as the hybrids are neither pack nor Nephilim but something in between dead set on killing anything in their paths.

Odin a Nephilim is at the head of the fight to destroy the mistress once and for all as she is his sister who went mad and had been put to sleep many, many years before. With Dante and the other Alphas help he hopes to end things before it gets out of hand. Unfortunately things go from bad to worse before they can locate the nest as many pack members are taken captive during a hybrid rampage that devastates all.

Dante along with others attempts a rescue but things do not go well at all. I was in tears by the end of this story with the enormity of loss that had happened. I admire an author who has no qualms about killing off main characters when it suits the story. It was truly a magnificent read. Such devastation and sorrow for all involved.

I think what bothered me and had me scratching my head in confusion was August’s actions toward the end regarding his mate and son. I did not understand his actions to a point and I most definitely did not understand why he could not sense that Collin was still alive after the explosion. I mean he was an Alpha and as such was connected to his pack with a link. So it confused me why he did not know the child was still alive at the end.

I am highly anticipating the next installment to see what else happens in this riveting and heart stopping series. Full of suspense, mystery, chaos, devastation and action this book will immediately grab hold and not let go until the very last word.

Highly recommended.
