Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Josef Debrossé, the hero from Deanna Wadsworth’s book FINDING HIS FANTASY

Hi Josef, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

What’s your job like?

My job is really easy, LOL. I run a secluded gay bar called No Woman No Cry in a secluded area on Grand Turk. Since I live upstairs, my commute is pretty easy too. I have a wonderful bar manager Louis who takes care of all the ordering and day to day needs of the bar, freeing me up to participate in the local art scene.

Would you rather be respected or feared? Why?

Respected, no question. A man who uses fear to gain respect is not a real man, rather a tyrant. The men in my family have always used fear and intimidation to get what they want. I am not a fool who can be taken advantage of, but I believe that if you respect others they will respect you. 

What’s your favorite book?

I don’t have a particular favorite, but I’ve always enjoyed spy books and thrillers. But now, mon amour Paul tells me that there are gay romance novels out there with this theme and he’s uploaded some on my kindle, so I’m hoping to find a new favorite.

If you could go anywhere, all expenses paid, where would you go?

I would like to go to India to see the Taj Mahal or perhaps Egypt to see the pyramids. Can you imagine my Paul on a camel in the desert, though? Mon Dieu! That would be hilarious!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

This might sound horrible depressing, but I just wanted to be free. I can’t divulge too much of my past—Ms. Wadsworth would yell, “Spoilers!”—but it was impossible for me to be the man I am today. Far from dreaming about being a famous rock star or a doctor, I simply wanted to be able to be me. No masks, no deception. Just a simple man who loves men. I feel so blessed that I finally have a man to love me and who I can trust with everything, my secrets and my heart.

Excerpt

“I am Josef Debrossé.” He had yet to release Paul’s hand—not that he had any complaints— and his blood warmed from touching a total stranger he’d paid to meet.

He let out a breathless chuckle, not surprised he’d been holding his breath.

“Paul Strait,” he replied, caught up in something…giddiness? Excitement? Sexual tension? He wasn’t sure, but he felt like a silly girl swooning on her first date. Almost as an afterthought, he added his signature tagline, “And I’m anything but.”

A rich resonant laughter danced around them, weaving a spell and capturing Paul inside it until he didn’t even know which way was up or down.

“C’est bon, Paul Strait,” he said, those hypnotic eyes sparkling.

When Josef released him, he had to resist the urge to take the man’s hand back and never let go, fearing he might disappear. Instead, he downed the rest of his champagne, scolding himself for being so ridiculous. He nodded toward the bar where plenty of stools sat open. “Can I buy you a drink?”

At the resort, everything was included, but it seemed like the most logical thing to say. Much classier than, “Are you wearing underwear?”

Review: I have read one or two books by this author and she definitely has a flare at telling a story. I thought that the cover was refreshing and the title cute. Then I read the blurb and was just a bit apprehensive, because what I wanted was a true love story. This has a good way going, but the ending was a bit of a disappointment for me. It doesn’t leave you hanging, but in a way it tells me that there might just be a second book coming out. Which for me is a downside, don’t mind series, but not when it is about the same couple. Guess I will see what Deanna does later.

Paul is a forty-eight year old gay man who wants someone for himself. The thing with him is he doesn’t want marriage but does want the man. He is going to open another gallery but decides since he is going to do so, he might see if there is someone to hook up with. So he uses the one that he had used for his best friend. He was surprised to find Josef and was very pleased.

Josef runs a hot exotic bar for gay men in the Caribbean. Lots of hot sex and some kinky times, but he has a secret on the side. When he meets Paul it is instant lust. Things heat up but the past has a way of showing up and kicking you in the ass.

There were a few issues I had with the story that doesn’t sit well for me. I don’t like drugs and when they are mentioned in a story I usually avoid the rest of the book. It didn’t really take away from the story, but I am afraid my attention wavered quite a bit.

However that is just me, the story itself was pretty damn good. It shows sexy men that have a softer side to them and for me that is a plus.

It was a fun read and I would definitely like to see what other stories this author has out. I would recommend reading this cute little story.
