“Oh! Oh! This one is the best!” Heather exclaimed as we sailed over the Minnesota state line. Dan sat up to place a warm kiss under my ear. It did little to alleviate the irritation that disco was causing in my brainstem.

“I swear, if it sounds anything like the Bee Gees, I am throwing your disc out the window. As it is, my system will need to be deloused before I can even think of sliding Lamb of God, Warbringer or Queensrÿche in.”

“You know, all that thrash is going to taint your brain,” Heather said as she fought with her long yellow hair whipping around her head.

“His brain is already tainted,” Dan chimed up as his arms dangled around my neck.

“Sleeping with Rumpelstiltskin will do that to a man,” I parried as we sailed down the road, windows down and fucking Sister Sledge pouring out of my speakers. Talk about being stuck in the middle. Dan and Heather started singing along. “For shit’s sake, spare me,” I moaned. They sang louder. I cursed my life.
