Blurb: Discarded most of his life, Jamie had learned as a teen that he was a Soul Collector, one of a mysterious group who fought the demons that attacked fellow humans. Cast out into the world, alone, the orphan fought hard to find his way, ending up in a seminary of all places. But chastity wasn’t a problem. He had no time or trust for relationships, let alone love.

Ios felt protective of the Soul Collector, the one the prophecy claimed would one day be his mate. Following the human for years, Ios had done everything he could to ensure his safety without stepping out of the shadows. He also held his lust in check, knowing Jamie would never accept him.

The time was upon them to join forces. Could Jamie handle who and what Ios was, and trust the growing feelings between them before it was too late?

Review: Jamie was just fifteen when he discovered, in a horrific way, that he is a Soul Collector. Now, eight years later, he battles demons.  Nightly, saving the souls they have stolen and by day he’s in St. Bartholomew’s Seminary University trying to discover more about that which he battles. Jamie meets Ios who is a lot more than he seems and when Jamie learns the truth, he has an important choice to make. One that could affect his and Ios’s worlds.

This was a very interesting fantasy that kept me in its grip from the beginning. Soul Collector’s rescue doomed souls that have been taken by demons and when a Soul Collector dies, he takes them with him to heaven. Jamie is one such Soul Collector, but according to Ios, Jamie is also the Soul Collector of prophecy, who will save his world. But, Jamie is doubtful, especially when he discovers that he is supposed to mate with Ios. Ios has known for years that Jamie would be his. But, Jamie thinks in black and white, which makes Ios think that Jamie will never accept for what he is.

This story is wonderful and is well written. It has a bit of something for everyone, from angst to love, from danger to devastation, with a lot of mystical/spiritual magic thrown in. The storyline is brilliant and it is quite realistic to the storyline the way that Jamie is constantly torn with his feelings for Ios. Even though Ios has always expected to mate with Jamie, it is explained fully how he feels for Jamie and why and it adds to the depth of the story. Yes, we see Jamie confused and scared, but he man’s up and accepts what he is truly feeling and what he needs to do; after all there are worlds depending on his actions. The world building was good and we got a pretty good feel for Ios’s world, I really can’t wait for the rest of the series.

So, I will recommend this to those who love fantasy, demons, paranormal, hot sex, angst, confusion and guilt, a huge demon battle and complete annihilation of the baddie demons and a happy ending finally for Jamie and Ios.
