Blurb: A few months after his brother’s accident, Jesse Brody can’t stop thinking about Troy Evans, the police office that helped solve the case. Even though Troy almost had to arrest him, Jesse is sure he has a shot at a date.

The two meet by chance and share a nice dinner at Jesse’s apartment, which ends with Jesse all over Troy’s lap. Though he isn’t out at work, Troy agrees to give a relationship with Jesse a chance. Everything is fine, until the two are seen in public together by some of Troy’s coworkers.

Out of panic, Troy ends the relationship. Of course he regrets his decision, but it will take more than just an apology to win Jesse back.

Review: Each book in the Shoes & Ties collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Jesse has always dated women and never considered a man, well maybe there was this one time but still. Then he comes across a sexy detective who at first he thought was screwing his brothers boyfriend, but figured out real fast that he was definitely in the wrong. So what has he been doing, stalking that sexy detective. Hadn’t figured out how to approach him, but the dog took care of that.

Troy has always been an amazing detective but he has been hiding a part of him from the others. He has seen the prejudice and never wanted to chance it. Jesse makes him think hard about it and the fact that Duke has disowned him, he might think a little harder.

If it were me I would keep Duke and make Troy work for it. This story was a blast to read and was quite interesting. I don’t get the fun of running, but can you imagine a sexy man in just some shorts and tank top, talk about hot. It didn’t give me all that I could want but it came close. The title doesn’t do the book justice but the story makes up for it.

I think that I have found another favorite author. Jena has a gift of telling stories. It was wrote with such heart that you can tell from the first word. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. So much so that I read it one more time before dinner. I laughed at parts of it, and at the serious parts I wanted to smack Troy.

I had a blast reading it and can’t wait to get to reading the next book.
