Blurb: All Xias wanted to do was find a safe place for him and his cubs. With his alpha chasing after him, intent on taking one of his cubs and killing the others, racing through a blizzard in the middle of the night seemed like a good idea. He had no idea when he took shelter in a cave during a blizzard that he had found more than a place to rest. He’d found the one man determined to protect him and his cubs.

Zhuang wasn’t on the run exactly, but avoiding his father’s demand that he start his own clan sent him into the mountains where he couldn’t be reached. When he takes shelter in a cave during a snow storm, he finds his mate and a whole lot more. He also discovers that protecting his mate means changing his entire way of life.

But even going to the shifter council won’t keep them safe because the alpha who is after Xias is determined to have him, even if he has to kill everyone standing in his way. Zhuang’s only hope in saving his new family is in becoming the alpha his father always wanted him to be.

Review: A new and exciting story by one of my top authors. I came across this author a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with her stories. This was no different.

Xias was an omega and omega’s had no standing in their prides. His alpha ruled them with an iron hand and was cruel as one could be. His alpha took what he wanted and killed off those who pissed him off. Xias was on the run with his cubs, cubs that were sired by his alpha. The problem is his alpha wanted his son, but wanted his daughters killed.

Zhuang’s father wanted him to start his own clan. To bad he didn’t want to do it. He was a loner and not very friendly. That was until he found a reason to do it. On a cold night with snow coming down hard, he came across his mate. A mate with three cubs and who was frightened.

I have always been a fan of Stormy’s books and knew right off the bat that I wanted to get my hands on it. It is a vey fascinating story with a mixture of fresh ideas and an old twist to it. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I was fascinated with the characters and their fight. Although I would have like a different ending with just a bit more to it, this left me thinking that maybe just maybe there might be another book coming.

The story did feel a little bit off, but not enough to make me want to stop reading. I had a lot of fun reading it and can admit that this will be read more than once.
