Review: My first Nic Starr story was “Waiting, Hoping, Wishing”, part of the Love’s Landscapes anthology. After reading the blurb, I found myself really looking forward to “More Than a Superstar”.

I immediately liked Sam. I respected his devotion to his Aunt and their business and I absolutely LOVED that title – Poppy’s Pantry!!! I liked Rob as well, even though I knew (from the blurb) he was the one harboring secrets, which of course, NEVER bodes well for any relationship.

The attraction and build up of the two MCs was enjoyable. The initial attraction was evident. I enjoyed the way they got to know one another, though I think I’d have bonded with them more if there was more heat to their courtship.
After awhile Sam and Rob began to frustrate me. Not learning from his mistakes, even after almost losing Sam once, Rob continued to jeopardize his newfound happiness.

He remained secretive, telling overt lies and lies of omission, allowing others (and more importantly, Sam) to think the worst of him.

Though I did feel for Sam, he really could have handled all of this a bit better. He seemed to deliver verdicts without giving any benefit of doubt, often yelling and berating, not stopping to wonder if there was a larger issue at hand. I had doubts Sam (with his own personal issues) was strong enough to be the man Rob needed. I had doubts they were even good for each other.

Sam and Rob got their HEA – thanks to the help of a (large) supporting cast of characters that helped them find their way. Now we could all be happy after the angst and drama – Sam, Rob, and the reader!!! Three hearts, a good effort, good writing, and I am looking forward to reading more of author Nic Starr.
