Blurb: What Austin Lloyd lacks in academics, he makes up for in his love of the animals who frequent his pet salon. He’s not lucky in romance, though, and his family would like him to settle down with a good man. Austin – and his golden retriever, Maggie – couldn’t agree more.

Evan Partridge isn’t good at letting people in. His messy family life and the past that’s shaped him aren’t worth bringing up. But his pug, Dexter, sure likes the pet salon owner.

Austin and Evan get off to a rough start, but being friends soon turns into something more. Unfortunately, Evan’s secretive behavior nearly does the relationship in, and the budding love affair almost crashes and burns when Evan’s troubled sister shows up on his doorstep.

Not speaking to each other is killing them both, but Evan doesn’t know how to keep Austin and help his sister at the same time. He just knows he has to try. Winning back Austin’s trust back, however, is going to take a whole lot of work.

Review: If you’re into cute romance with a couple of totally cute dogs and their handsome owners, you’re going to totally fall in love with this one. I have to admit that there is only one aspect of the plot which kept me from giving this 5/5, but other than that, I was totally in love and on board with the humans and their dogs.

Austin is a super sweet guy. He owns his own business, a pet grooming salon, but his confidence has been beaten down by the fact that he has never gone to college and that, therefore in the eyes of some family members, makes him a failure. But Austin loves what he does and he loves animals. It is impossible not to love him and his wonderful dog, Maggie. One day, after a long and trying day, Austin meets Evan. Evan is the proud owner of pug puppy Dexter. But because of Austin’s bad day he takes his frustrations out on Evan. Things just don’t go well for Austin as he just seems to keep putting his foot into things where Evan is concerned.

Evan has moved away from home and comes with a lot of emotional baggage. He is skittish as it is, his need to be permanently on hand to look after his sister (who really needs help, that much is clear when she turns up). It is Evan’s actions with his sister that prevented me from giving this a 5/5 – I felt that the actual actions between Evan and his sister were underdeveloped when the emotional side of Evan’s reticence was set up really well from the start. I just felt like there was a lot of mental issues and emotions that were not being dealt with.
