Blurb: After a traumatic car accident and subsequent break-up with Dylan, his overly entitled boyfriend, Sam returns to his hometown to recover from his injuries. He rents space in Alex’s garage to work on his car. Alex acts on a long ago crush and offers his aid to Sam once he sees how much help Sam needs. Sam’s decision to rebuild the old Mustang instead of scrapping it might lead to rebuilding his life and finding a love he thought impossible after Dylan’s betrayal.

Review: Sam returns to his hometown to recover from his injuries after a car crash, he rents a bay at a garage to rebuild his car and meets Alex who offers his aid when he sees that Sam won’t be able to manage the work by himself. Alex had a crush on Sam in school and offers his easy friendship while wishing he could offer more. Their friendship grows as they rebuild the Mustang and Sam begins to think that he might have a chance at happiness.
This is a wonderful hurt/comfort story, Sam and Alex build a friendship between them before they even talk about being more and their friendship/relationship is a sweet one to watch. Sam’s relationship is going nowhere and when Sam is seriously injured he returns to his hometown, rebuilding his car gives him the chance to make sense of his life and he begins to see that Alex is a welcome addition. Alex is at ease with the boundaries that Sam silently places around himself, Alex is just happy to spend time with Sam, he doesn’t mind if Sam never talks or when he loses himself in his head, Alex is just happy to chatter away and help out.
These two make a great couple even before they are a couple, neither makes unnecessary demands on the other and they fall into an easy rhythm. Sam has to sort things out from his past before he can move forward but when he does he lets Alex know in the easiest way he can. We get to know the characters pretty well, we learn the circumstances of Sam’s accident and we get the pleasure of watch Alex and Sam build a relationship built on more than just attraction.
This is a brilliant story that’s just long enough to enjoy a cup of tea with, it has friendship, the beginnings of a relationship and two wonderful men, and I highly recommend this story for a quick read before bed.
