Blurb: Siberian pack alpha Dane Durov endured a lot in his young life and managed to survive, so he always assumed that he had a special purpose in life. If he’d had to guess, though, ‘bodyguard to the child of an Olympian god’ wouldn’t have been his first guess.

Frankly, he still thought it sounded like something out of a romance writer’s imagination. Romance. The mere word reminds Dane that love brings nothing but exploding pain. A man had ripped his heart out and left him hollow, but spending time with Ryder Winters is weakening Dane’s defenses. The young demigod is sweet, caring, beautiful — and dangerous. Dane finds himself daring to laugh again — but love?

Ryder Winters is shocked — no, stunned beyond reason — when he finds out that Zeus is his biological father. Zeus. The god of the sky and ruler of all Olympian gods. As a demigod under constant threat, Ryder needs around-the-clock protection. He struggles to deal with his newfound superpowers, but he also battles his growing feelings for his guardian, Dane Durov.

A trip to Siberia with Dane intensifies the confusion and adds lust and love to the mix for Ryder as he comes face to face with the past Dane has been trying to forget.

Things spiral out of control as Ryder’s powers are unleashed and Dane struggles to come to terms with his growing love for the man he’s willing to protect at any cost.

Review: Dane Durov is a transplant Skull Blaster, having joined the team when he was rescued from the Rogue’s in Siberia, sadly only after they’d killed most of his pack members. He is a big, brooding, bad ass werewolf that doesn’t trust easily. He loved once, had a mate, but that love was broken when Markus learned he was a shifter.

Then it was shattered when Markus died.

Part of the reason he keeps Ryder at arm’s length is because Ryder is so young and beautiful, and has an opportunity to live such a full life, without all the baggage Dane would bring into a relationship. Mostly it’s because Dane has locked his heart and thrown away the key.

Ryder has been to hell and back in his young life, literally, just to survive. When he came out to his parents they tried to drown him, and since then his love of the water has turned into a guttural fear. A fear he is working hard to overcome. Ryder makes great progress with the help of his protector, one sexy shifter with a bad attitude.

The writing is on the wall for these two, but Dane is nothing if not stubborn. And even after he succumbs to his feelings for the young, delicious Olympian, Dane manages to piss off the young man who has control over the lightning. Dane will have to say goodbye to the pain of his past if he stands a chance at a future with Ryder.

This book was just so much fun. I absolutely love Gasq-Dion’s dry, witty sense of humor that bleeds over into her characters. One of my favorite lines in the story, “what if lightening shoots out my dick?” and that is just one of many one liners that had me rolling while I was reading this book. It’s not all fun and games though.

There is the constant threat of attack from the army of Rogues, and they surely have a knack for popping up at the wrong time. And then we learn that Ryder’s parents are coming up for parole, so on top of everything else he has going on in his life, he has to consider whether or not he wants to testify at the hearing.

The perfect balance of drama, angst, humor and action all circulate to complete this latest addition to the Olympians series. Just a couple of side notes… a missing Olympian is found in this book and I’m intrigued. There is something mentioned about Thor, or a distant relative. It looks like Nate might be getting him a little sum sumthin!

And close to thirty books into this world (between the Assassin/Shifter books and the Twelve Olympians books) I am still completely engaged, engrossed and enamored with this world and these characters Gasq-Dion has created.

A MUST read for any shifter fans out there. But if you like paranormal romance, some kick ass characters and intricately plotted storylines, then you are going to love this series. You really have to start at the beginning though. At the very least, start with the first Olympian story, if not the first Assassin/Shifter story.
