Lone Wolf

Jackson Lewis isn’t a typical werewolf. He isolates himself in a small town outside Spokane and dedicates himself to making his business—Lone Wolf Brewery—a success. If it leaves him little time for romance, he’s okay with that. His soul mate could be out there somewhere, but he isn’t actively looking.

So he’s in for quite the shock when he literally bumps into his soul mate—Leo Gallagher, an adorable, nerdy, vibrant music therapist who’s Jackson’s polar opposite.

But he’s human. And a man.

Jackson is straight—or at least he’s always assumed so. Though he can’t deny his attraction to Leo, it’s a lot for both of them to deal with.

While Jackson and Leo figure out what their future might hold, they face prejudice from both the human and werewolf communities—including a group of fanatics willing to kill to show humans and werewolves don’t belong together.

Burner’s world revolved around three things: protecting the wolf pack of Maine, keeping an eye on his best friend Aaron, and helping prepare enough summer food to take on the long road to Quebec for the winter months. But in the ruins of an old shopping mall on a hot summer night, his world crashes.

Now Burner has to face monsters he thought were just stories told to scare pups, and he must traverse a world he’s only seen in old magazines. Meanwhile, his best friend Aaron is dealing with monsters of his own and Burner will do whatever it takes to keep them both safe, even if it means finally admitting how he really feels.

It wasn’t as though he objected to his best friend finding his true mate, it’s just he didn’t think Lasse should worry himself gray over the things Jason enjoyed doing. When things get out of hand and Orin’s attacked in his own apartment, the last person he thought would burst through his wards was Thor. Review: Each book in the The Gods Made Me Do It collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This series is connected to the Cloverleah Pack series so you might want to read those books first.

If you ever want to see a god protect his ass, read this book because the ending will have you laughing your ass off. And when I say protect his ass, I do mean his ass. Orin is part cat and part elf so magic is his way of life. When one of the professors asks him to look at a book, imagine his surprise when the book is of his linage. A book that the professor shouldn’t of had and one that could summon a true god. So you can imagine what he did.

Thor is the Norse god of the storms and a complete ass sometimes. He has a temper and pretty much loves to fight. He can fight what is to come but it will kick his ass. He has found his true mate, a mate that is sweet and cute. A mate that might just surprise him in the end.

I had been hoping for a bit more danger from the idiot professor but what happened to him was perfect. Never piss off a god, well unless he is your mate. It was exciting and gave me everything I could want in a book. Talk about some action you can find your self in the mix of. Some hot sexy time and a weird book, I could find that I would love that. My attention never left this book and I have to admit that I wanted to read it again immediately. I also find that I want to go read the previous books again also.

I had a blast reading this and can not wait to get my hands on the next book. This is one series I would definitely recommend.

Review: Each book in the Assassin’s Loyalty collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This story is a branch off of Lost Shifters, WAyne County Wolves, Coalition Training Academy and Shane’s Chronicles. I would start with book one in the Lost Shifter series.

Pagan had spent most of his life as a sex slave until his best friend got him out. However with no money it meant he had to survive by selling his body. It placed him in danger pretty much each time and many took advantage of him. He wasn’t exactly squeaky clean but he was still a sweet young man. However those he had been around were dead and someone wanted him to follow. He has to trust someone.

Brian was an assassin and was one of the good guys. When he was sent to find Pagain, he knew that he was the man for him. There were some pretty big surprises and one of them was who Pagan truly was. To bad Pagan had no clue.

What a fascinating tale and I loved the twists this story gave. It was a pretty big surprise to find out who Pagan was. The story gave me everything I could want in a story and so much more. It gave me excitement, adventure, action, danger and some pretty sweet sex. I loved the characters and how protective Brian was with his mate.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I will also admit that this is one of those stories that will be read more than once and I would guarantee that you will fall in love with these stories as well.

Review: Fangs and Catnip is the first book in Julia Talbot’s Dead and Breakfast series and is a part of Dreamspun Beyond house line. For me, I have enjoyed Julia Talbot books in the past, but she is one of those authors that I don’t have any real opinion on other than they are usually a good read.

However, I did look forward to the narration by Dorian Bane. I’ve not heard his voice on an audio in quite a while and he was one of the first narrators I heard narration MM shape shifter stories (I think for some Siren books). At any rate, I really enjoyed hearing Bane’s distinctive voice – deep and husky and just perfect for many alpha type males. Although this story didn’t have any actual alpha type males – just a brooding vampire and cougar shifter who reminded me of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. I liked the two voice he gave the MCs of this book and it was generally very enjoyable.

This plot of Fangs and Catnip is totally cute and charming. There is no real big drama or obstacles – this is a shifter and vampire who have to get their shit together.

Fallon Underwood is a vampire who is basically a hermit. He is a few centuries old and prefers his solitude. He resides in the attic at the paranormal bed and breakfast destination, The Death and Breakfast, where is the silent partner in the business with the sleepy, grumpy bear shifter, Tanner, located on the top of an isolated, snowy mountain. Tanner does a lot of the work on his own and finally convinces Fallon that he needs to hire a manager so that he can sleep/hibernate a bit more as the winter approaches.

This is where hospitality manager Carter Hughes. He’s the bouncy cougar shifter that is basically Tigger. He comes to the B and B all excited for his new job, looking forward to being involved with a business that caters for all manner or paranormals and humans. When he encounters the enigmatic Fallon he immediately is attracted, and his inner cat knows that Fallon is his mate. The problem is vampires and shifters usually don’t mate in the sense that they form a full blown emotional and mental bond, so there are unexpected results as their different physiologies alter to help the bonding process.

There is low level angst and there is what think is a bit of stuffing around that I think felt more like to fill time/pages more than anything else. I won’t go into super details, but Fallon tries at certain points to push Carter away because he cares for the man too much and like many men in romances doesn’t talk to his partner about his concerns.

That is probably my only criticism of the entire book. The plot is simple and well-paced, which means that there is room for the characters to develop a bit. It also means we get time with the other secondary character who will no doubt get their own romantic story at some point. The guys have great chemistry and the sex scenes are steamy. I can’t wait for November when the second books comes out featuring barely in control, newly turned wolf Tom.

Blurb: Moonmates exist, but getting together is going to be a beast….

When Adrian Rothschild skipped his “werewolf puberty,” he assumed he was, somehow, human. But he was wrong, and he’s about to go through his Turn with a country between him and his Pack—scared, alone, and eight years late.

Dr. Tate Lewis’s werewolf supremacist father made his Turn miserable, and now Tate works for Camp H.O.W.L. to ease the transition for young werewolves. He isn’t expecting to offer guidance to a grown man—or find his moonmate in Adrian. Tate doesn’t even believe in the legendary bond; after all, his polygamist father claimed five. But it’s clear Adrian needs him, and if Tate can let his guard down, he might discover he needs Adrian too.

A moonmate is a wolf’s missing piece, and Tate is missing a lot of pieces. But is Adrian up to the challenge?

Review: Camp H.O.W.L is the first book in a series by Bru Baker going by the same name. I’ve actually already heard the audio but I always love how there are things that I pick up in the text that I don’t in the audio and vice versa. I already enjoyed listening to the audio, so I knew exactly what I was stepping into. The only thing I didn’t know if this was going to be one of those where I prefer the book over the audio or not. In the end, although I rate them both as a 5 and I absolutely adored the narration of the audio, I felt I got a lot more out of the characters by reading this myself.

Adrian Rothschild is 27, his mother is one of the most powerful wolf alphas in the US and for reasons that were not found out for by shifter doctors he never experienced the Turn at 19. He has since resigned himself to be a human among a pack of wolves. A pack that, despite his family’s position, he doesn’t feel like he belongs to fully. Therefore, he’s happy to be away from his family to work. The problem is, when he takes a holiday far away from his pack and home, Adrian suddenly starts to get the symptoms of the change. Thinking it’s just the flu, Adrian pushes himself until he’s in trouble.

Adrian meets Dr Tate Lewis, a man he feels an inexplicable pull towards. Tate works for Camp H.O.W.L, a sort of hidden camp/school where wolf families send their teens about to make the turn to go through their first change. He’s one of the camp councilors because he doesn’t want other wolflings to go through what he had gone through as the son of an alpha with some perverse beliefs.

When Adrian and Tate meet, it’s assumed that the connection they have is one called a Turn Mate. Turns out that wasn’t quite right, though, because they are moonmates, which is basically a term for soul mate or mate as seen in other paranormal stories. Tate has a lot of baggage from his formative years and therefore is not ready to accept the bond with Adrian.

So when I heard the audio, I got annoyed at Tate because he was being a bit of dick by denying the bond and in turn was hurting Adrian. However, in reading the book I felt more of a connection to Tate and why he acted how he did. It’s not something that I can describe much better than saying it was just Tate’s vibe. My adoration for Adrian did not change at all.

Any fans of shape shifter stories will like this one. Just because this is set in a camp doesn’t mean that there is anything childish about the book. There is not outrageous alpha behavior, a lot of sweetness, a broody psychologist (I think that’s what Tate is?), some excellent chemistry and just a lot of fun.

I decided to read this because I was about to get to the next 2 books in the series and I am absolutely obsessed with reading series in order, particularly when I’m about to binge a number of books from a series. And I have to say, I am excited about getting to the next two installments.

Review: Noah and Caleb are cupids but Noah is the rebel of them using his dust to create matches between people no one else would. After finding out what Noah is doing Caleb takes him under his wing to help him. I liked the idea of this story but I really did not get a feel for these two as a couple.

They hardly interacted and at times their scenes together seemed thrown in to the story. I did like that Noah had help from gods and goddesses with his insecurities as well as what was expected of him as a cupid. I would have loved this story better if Noah and Caleb had actually talked to each other more than they did.

Aside from that it was an interesting read with some conflict from the other cupids with Noah. Good read.

Review: Each book in the Beneath Aquatica’s Waves collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Grisham is about to get his eyes opened wide. He was the arresting officer for Solomon, although it turned out he was the wrong man. He coud not forget the sexy man that was wit Solomon and he was determined to find out. He just hadn’t expected to find out that his sexy man was a shifter.

Cuzco is a very cute octopus shifter. I would definitely love to come across one of his kind. He has found his mate. And things might be looking up, well as soon as they figure out who the bad guy is.

As always Charlie has given us a story that rocks. I admit that she is the only author who has given me a story about aquatic shifters that I find fascinating. Usually they are not the kind of shifters I like to read about. You get excitement, suspense, danger and some hot sexy times in these books. As always my attention was caught from the beginning and kept all the way to the end. This story gave me everything I could possibly want in a story and so much more.

I would definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next one to come out.

Grad student and part-time barista Ford Whitney has a lot on his plate, but it’s also his duty to make sure the resident bird nerd doesn’t discover shape-shifters—like himself—live on campus.

When a series of incidents related to Simon’s search put him in harm’s way, Ford’s instincts kick in, and they become closer than is strictly proper for student and teacher. Review: After listening to the audio book of the first installment of j, leigh bailey’s Shifter U series, I decided to get onto the next 2 books quick smart, ‘cos that just how I roll. Anyway, I was really looking forward to this because the world of the first book was fun and was interested in seeing one of my favourite secondary characters find his own HEA. Although this is a series, after reading all three books, I believe that these books can work either as a standalone or reading in order. I just prefer to read things in order.

The Thunderbird in question is Ford Whitney. He played the role of best friend to one of the MCs in the first book Stalking Buffalo Bill, and I was quite happy that we were able to meet up with the coyote and buffalo shifters a few times in this book. Ford is a barista at Buddy’s, a café located near the Cody College where Ford is doing his masters in bird migration (as a person with a PhD I appreciated the way that Ford was not made into a nerd with a one-track mind, which is something that really bugs me about academics, etc. in books).

Ford is then assigned to be the TA for the newest ornithology professor, and only human on staff in the biology school, Simon Coleman. The attraction between the guys is instant and the chemistry is off the charts. Yet Ford has been assigned the difficult task of ensuring that Simon does not question anything about the oddities that occur around the college due to shifter activity.

Both guys have a lot of baggage. Ford obviously is trying to protect the secrets of shifters, looking after some of the younger bird shifter students, and protecting the most important secret, that his family are Thunderbirds. Thunderbirds have been hunted almost to the point of extinction and on top of that they aren’t your ordinary run of the mill shape shifters either. Whereas Simon is completely human but comes from a family whose reputation has been discredited in the past because his grandfather and great-grandfather are certain that Thunderbirds exist. However, this belief and ongoing investigation, is not only putting him on the radar of the shape shifters, but also on the radar of the bad guys.

Chasing Thunderbird is a rather fun book and I found myself able to relate to the emotions and baggage of both MCs, although both are very different and quite often at cross purposes. I highly recommend reading this book and series to anyone who loves a good shifter tale.

Review: Each book in the Beneath Aquatica’s Waves collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Solomon lost his family at the age of eighteen, joined the military for a few years and then went to work as a guard for a very rich asshat. He was definitely not happy there so when the asshat’s son wanted to run, he let him. It got him fired and almost killed, only to be saved by one hell of a sexy man. A sexy man that claimed to be a shape shifting hammerhead shark.

Anthony was just swimming along when he smelled blood. As a shark you can imagine what he was thinking, only to find out that the man was his mate. A mate that someone had tried to kill.

Once again Charlie has not disappointed me. This story caught my attention and kept it there all the way to the end. I can guarantee that this is one of those stories that will be read more than once. So much so that I am going to go back and read the whole series again. This book gave me everything from danger, excitement, suspense and some hot sexy times.

I had a blast reading this and can not wait to get my hands on the next book. I would definitely recommend this book and the rest of the series.

Review: Flashpoint is at it again with simultaneous attacks against the residence’ of Sage and surrounding areas. Things are brutal and some are left injured or dead in the wake of the attacks. Some that participated are captured. John’s son Murray is badly hurt.

Trash finally reels in his lion shifter mates Brody and Tobias after they come on to strong and Trash runs. He gives them a merry chase until they learn to control themselves. There was a lot of different things going on in this wonderful addition to the series.

In the aftermath some of the residence’ of sage decide to leave Sage to live elsewhere in a safe Haven that sounds like heaven even though they have to start from scratch and build their place.

I loved everything about it except I wanted to know who were twenty eight residence that lost their lives in the attacks. The story never said and I wanted to know. Regardless, it was an absolute fantastic addition to the series.

Review: Aidan has taken Jamie to his realm to mate him. Jamie tries hard to keep his secrets from Aidan. An interesting story that picks up where the first book leaves off. As the story progresses Jamie is at first determined to leave then slowly gets used to living with Aidan. Aidan for his part suspects Jamie is more than a vampire but has no clue as to what exactly he is.

Secrets are revealed in the face of a dangerous foe who sends his minions to deal a deadly blow to the dragons while attempting to take Jamie out. Twists and turns around every corner kept me riveted to the very end. The battle scenes were bloody and action packed.

I love this series. I am on pins and needles awaiting the next book in the series to find out what else is in store. I will admit to being a little miffed that Asa was only mentioned in this installment. I wanted to know more about where he went and how his life was now.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Review: The Gryphon King’s Consort for me is one of those books for me that was simply amazing.
The author, Jenn Burke, is completely unknown to me. Andrew McFerrin’s narration is generally good, but not always hitting the right marks in previous audio books I’ve listened to. And finally, while I was certainly interested in the plot after reading the blurb. After all, I love shape shifters and like many people I’m enchanted by a royal arranged marriage that becomes a love match. And yet, I was a little skeptical that it was truly going to be my type of book because the blurb didn’t really capture my imagination all that well.

However, once I started listening to the audio I was amazed and enchanted and totally in love with both MCs. First off, I really enjoyed the narration, other than the two MCs there are a few important minor characters and I really liked how each one of them got their unique voice. McFerrin’s narration really added spice to the amazing world which Burke has created, as any good narrator should. It only had me captivated of this supernatural kingdom nestled in Canada.

The story starts after the death of the Gryphon King, the ruler of supernatural world. He died under mysterious circumstances, but his heir is determined to make sure that his people do not suffer from the transition from the old king to new king. Crown Prince Luca, however, is not only being coronated as the king, he also has an arranged marriage that he needs to go through. This is entirely political alliance, even if his fiancé is an ordinary guy (gryphon), Eirian has been involved in governance at the local level and hopes that his experience will help him in his new life after being chosen by the King’s counsel as the new king’s consort.

Luca is a stoic traditionalist who wants to honor the memory of his mentor, the former king. Yet, Luca is also a loner, a personal betrayal means that he finds it near on impossible to let anyone in. Really, deep down he’s just a grumpy old gryphon with a heart of gold.

Eirian on the other hand is younger and more brash than his new husband. Eirian is part of the group known as modernists, who want to encourage good will between the supernatural and the humans. He is an idealist at heart and finds it difficult when he has to make compromises between his own ideals/conscience and with forming a united front with his new husband.

Luca and Eirian are brilliant characters – there are a lot of depth to these guys that had me so invested in them from the start. I found myself sympathizing with the POV of both men and I fell even more in love at the end with Luca, faced with the possibility of losing Eirian, has an epiphany.

If you’re into the whole shape shifter thing and love a good royal romance, I heartily recommend this book.

So why does normally good-natured cameraman Will take an instant dislike to Payne? For that matter, why has he felt irritable and angry since they arrived at the site? It soon becomes clear that the answers they seek will be found in the basement—where nobody has gone since Payne was a little boy. As the haunting grows deadlier, things get sweeter between Will and Payne, but all hell’s about to break loose when they breach the basement door.

Review: Each book in The Angel Pack collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Hades and Mimos are making their move. It is time for Jesse and Micah to get the others together and make the final move. The battle will be the one for the books.

I still think that Noah will always be my favorite out of them all. He just has this innocence to him that makes me smile. Micah has found the way that might win this and boy is Jesse going to be surprised. As always this story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could want in a story and so much more. You get suspense, excitement, danger, major surprises and some hot loving in this book among other things.

I have my favorite authors and stories and I can guarantee that Maggie Walsh is one of them. Her stories are a big hit and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Review: This series is a spin-off of Eternal Flames and Eternal Maddox. I would suggest reading those books first because it will give you a bit of back ground to figuring out who everyone is.

Ezra and Jewel have been mates for some time, but Jewel has had a hard time with it. He was the one who went to Ezra’s coven to warn them of attack and it ended up with him being in their cells for close to two months. When Ezra found him he not only saved him but made them realize just what he was. However there was a coven member who wanted them stopped.

Then Jewel is kidnapped and you won’t believe who is behind it. Might just keep the surprises going. Now with this book the way it starts makes you feel like you are missing some vital parts to the story. So it can be a bit confusing if you don’t know a bit about what is going on before hand.

This is one of those stories that just catches your attention from the start and doesn’t let it go until the end. It is also one of those stories that will be read many times over. I also love the surprise Jewel receives and I can guarantee that Ezra is going to love it also.

This is one of my favorite type of books and I can’t wait to get my hands on book two. I can tell you when I first came across Jewel I wanted to smack the crap out of him but now I understand how he got there. He is an amazing young man with a sexy and powerful vampire king to back him up.

I can guarantee that you will love this book.

Review: A sweet story about overcoming others prejudices about cross breeding with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader interested in the outcome. Shahin is a bird shifter. Like most shifters he’s been taught he will know his mate when he meets them.

Cai is a human and gets set up on a blind date with Shahin. The two hit it off and make plans to get together again but Shahin’s mother is against the two together as she wants grandchildren.

I really enjoyed the support that Cai had and how both he and Shahin wanted to be together despite protests from others.

The story was written beautifully to capture the intensity of the situation and the tender moments between the MC’s. Great read.

Young wolf shifter Max is cocky and crass. Unlike others his age, he has yet to discover a talent that will serve his pack. Since childhood, he’s been convinced the pack alpha is his mate, but Alpha Christian cannot envision unfiltered and directionless Max taking the place of his elegant mother at the head of the pack. As Max begins to build a life with his best friend, he also begins to see that maybe what he thought was inevitable was all in his head, and it’s time to move on.

Or are they both denying fate?

Review: Sweet story about Max and Christian. Max knows Christian is his mate. But Christian does not think Max is ready to be mated yet. As it turns out Max is ready but has to come into his own first. I thought at times Christian was a bit stuffy with Max.

I loved these two together as the story progressed. I liked how each wolf has their own talent though we do not find out what Max is at first. Seth, Max’s best friend is introduced and we get his POV for a while. I assume this was a set up for his book but I still enjoyed the story.

Great read.
