by

Taylor Brooke

Brooklyn Harper’s worst nightmare has become her reality. She has been captured by Isolation.
Trapped in a white-walled labyrinth by Juneau Malloy, Brooklyn is faced with the horrors of Isolation’s finest training yet. The skills she learned in Camp Eleven are put to the test during brutal assessments of her physical strength, mental sharpness, combat expertise, and emotional fortitude.

Juneau offers the renegade Omens a deal—sign a contract and hand over their freedom or endure torturous trials day after day. A test of wills surfaces, and if Brooklyn isn’t careful, her recklessness could come at a price she isn’t willing to pay.

While Brooklyn confronts her worst fears, Julian Matsumoto comes face-to-face with Isolation’s biggest secret. The unknown is at his fingertips, a plan is forming behind closed doors, and Julian must choose between a life outside the facility, or a chance to destroy the corporation who stole him and his friends from their lives once and for all.

Review: He was broke as one could be. So he set out to find a job but what he really wanted was to work for Duncan Pryde. He just had not expected to get the chance. Then his dream was going to happen, that is until Duncan’s niece and nephew took a liking to him. Then he went from personal assistant to manny. Not the job he wanted but he was working real close to the man he wanted. He just had not expected what was to come.

Duncan’s twin had been killed and he was left alone raising his niece and nephew. He was also running out of options. Everyone that wanted to watch them turned out they had other ideas, like his body. Then an interview gave him a better idea, and his mate.

This was the first time I have read anything by this author so I wasn’t too sure what to expect. The words that are used for the paranormal world is a bit confusing and odd, but I realized that was the only problems I had with the book. It is a fresh new idea and was very entertaining. The story was exceptional and the characters were hot. It had a serious tone to it but there was matching humor which made my day.

It kept my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end, oh hell it kept me up later then normal just trying to finish reading it. I got caught up in it and just couldn’t put it down.

Excitement, danger, lust filled and adorable children were just a bit of what I got from the story. I do like the twists that it had also.

I enjoyed the book so much that I can guarantee that it will be read more than once. This is one book I would recommend and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Blurb: What do a god in exile and a goth geek from Nowhere, Minnesota have in common?

Not a damn thing.

Ashnavayarian is a god in exile, condemned by the Dragon Mother to live as a lowly human. The only way to appease the goddess and earn back his place at her side is to learn compassion — or bypass her entirely by raising the power to break his exile.

Tor MacAran is stuck in a dead-end job in a tiny town that’s barely on the map. He’s been alone and hurting all his life, and he’s about ready to end his pain by whatever means he can.

When a Halloween encounter dumps Tor at Ash’s feet, the two men find themselves tied together by the Dragon Mother in a way that neither can escape. Can Tor teach Ash what it really means to be human? Or will Ash’s bid for freedom destroy Tor and plunge the Westlands into a war no one can win?

Note: Human Frailties, Human Strengths is a stand-alone novel (~90,000 words) that takes place in the same world as Human Choices.

Note: This story contains hot guys who have the hots for each other

Review: I have to admit after reading Guardians of the Pattern I was quite shocked at Ash in this story. He was completely different. Conceited, mean and only seemed to care about what he wanted. As a form of punishment Jhara stripes him of power, then manipulating Toryn into venturing out of the human realm and depositing him at Ash’s feet.

Ash was a complete ass to Toryn for a long time. But that slowly changed as Ash started caring for the man. But alas danger happens time and again to these two. Along with a leythe Blade bound to Tor. I loved this story minus Ash’s attitude at first. It was a remarkable adventure fraught with suspense, danger and action.

Brilliantly written it captures the mind in a journey of finding oneself and setting right what has been made wrong. I love the books by this author. The ones I’ve read so far submerge me in a world where darkness and light fight to overcome the other. But with the help of a few the balance is slowly being restored.

I will warn readers that there are scenes of mind manipulation into having sex.

Fantastic read.

Into The Dark Void by John Simpson & Robert Cummings

Blurb: Is Earth alone in the universe?

In an attempt to answer that centuries-old question, scientists sent probes into the void, hoping they’d be found by intelligent life forms. In hindsight, it’s decided that giving possibly hostile races directions back to Earth might be a dangerous idea, and the United Space Force Marines are dispatched to recover the probes.

Corporal David Creswell has become a little too close to Blake Bickford, a recent graduate from Marine training, and fraternizing is against regulations. They manage to keep their romance under the radar until they are reassigned to a classified mission to retrieve the probes—aboard a ship where they’re clearly not welcome. While trying to discover who is playing with Earth’s toys in deep space, they’ll give new meaning to “leave no man behind.”

Review: When I saw who the authors were of this story I knew that I had to read it. They write stories that give you a world that has a bit of humor to it even though they have more of a serious tone to them. They also give you sexy men with a lot of depth and detail to them; it feels like you know them. After seeing the cover of the book, I can tell you my eyes went wide and my jaw dropped. What I wouldn’t give to have a man like that.

This is a bit of an oddball story to me, but it was a lot of fun. You get gorgeous men in uniform who are working in outerspace. David and Blake saw each other and knew what they wanted. David is a corporal and Blake was a private, but it didn’t seem to mind with these guys. They are very hot together.

Then while in space one saves the other, and it gets real close for a while there. They came close to death and were going to be in deep trouble with the military. Then more danger surfaced and it was up to them and their friends to keep everyone safe. I must admit that this story is a bit harder to get into and difficult to follow in some parts. The marines have a saying about not leaving any many behind, and these two are definitely backing that saying. I love how protective they are of each other, but that they are still marines.

The story itself is an amazing story but the last few pages seemed a bit forced to me, like they were trying to rush the ending a bit. Other than that, it was a great read. I had fun with it and couldn’t stop reading once I started. I love the author’s gift that they have.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Review: Mars is dying. Everyone escapes but Elric and Max. With Elric hurt and on the mend it is a race to fix the ship and leave before it’s too late.

I loved this installment of the series. Max and Elric worked well together. What broke my heart was what happened on earth. I was not expecting it so it floored me.

As usual this s a stunning story filled with danger, intense moments and finaly love. The intensity between Elric and Max was off the charts. I loved how tender Max was with Elric when he was hurt.

I am really sad to see this series end.

Review: Leo was one of the lucky winners to get to go to Zata. Zata was the first alien world that Earth has ever came across. They were the ones to come to Earth just over a year ago to trade. Now they were inviting them to come visit and for a celebration. He never thought that he might be gay but I guess that changes when he finds out that he is a Zata mate.

Arex is the youngest prince of Zata. He has always wanted to find his true mate, but he never thought he would. He just hoped that one of the humans was his. He also hoped that he would have a child by his mate. Now all he has to do is to convince Leo that they were meant to be together.

I wasn’t really sure about this story not even when I read it the second time. First off the Zata’s didn’t tell the humans that the party was for mating. Second the kid didn’t even know he was gay. Third basically the little purple fruit was a drug making the kid go further then he would have normally. The world needs more building to it then just what we got. It was basically go to a planet you haven’t been on, meet the aliens, have sex then right off the bat you’re pregnant and boom you’re in love, well that just makes it weirder then it already was. This whole story was just what it seems a fantasy.

Other than those issues it would be a great book had there been more to it, and it didn’t come off as rushed by the author. I could see it being a four point five to a five heart book had it had more detail and lots more going on then what it had going on.

This was the first book by this author I have had a chance to read and I am going to check out what book two has going on before I decide if I want to pursue reading this series. So far it is an enjoyable read.

Review: I love an author who is not afraid to take out characters. Sometimes that is called for in a story. The author does a wonderful job in this story as the fate of everyone rests in their hands. The story was wonderful. Edge of your seat battles and twists and turns that took me by surprise. The betrayal, I never saw coming so was pleasantly blindsided.

It was a perfect blend of chaos, harmony, betrayal and suspense all woven into one exciting book.

The overall feel is one of completeness. I loved everything about the descriptions and backgrounds as the story progressed. The series has no shortage of information given as to why certain things happened and why.

Flynn and Bennet have come so far together in this series. I loved their characters and trials they have been through to get to this exciting conclusion. I am sad to see this end but that is just the way it is with a good series.

Great read.

Review: I was intrigued when I was sent this book to read. I loved the descriptions of the planet where Sanana was sent to do his sentencing. Santana seemed rough and scary at times. La’ael was so sweet and caring toward Sanana.

I understood Sanana’s anger at having been taken away and mated to La’al with no knowledge of what that entailed. However, I thought it cruel that Sanana had La’al take him to earth just to reunite with his lover Rhyan. I mean who does that. This book ends on cliffhanger but if in the next book La’al decides Rhyan is his mate or lover as well I won’t believe it. He looked in Sanana’s memories and saw Rhyan and felt nothing but jealousy.

I really do not know how I felt about this story other than it was confusing at times what Sanana actually wanted.

O.k. read for me.

Review: Aliens have landed on Earth over a thousand years ago and were the ones that created the fable of vampires. Stronger, faster, and of course the drinking of blood is just a bit of what the guys have going for them. I should say they crashed instead of just landed on it, but then again newbies shouldn’t be trusted with something so very much needed as navigation. Alex and his men were now stuck on this blasted planet and needed to work around it. To bad half his crew didn’t agree and seperated. So you have a group that is good and a group that is bad, so very overused I would say.

Quinn had finally came out to his parents and what did his honesty get him, a boot out of his home. He needed food, a place to stay so being a gogo dancer is looking better each time he thinks about it. All looks good till the owner decides he wants him. Which puts him into the site of well you can guess.

First off this book was just way to long to stick with it. To much added story that was not needed. The characters were hard to connect with, well with the exception of our Quinn and Mackie. It starts off like you are in the middle of the story instead of the beginning which didn’t really do it any favor. It took longer to get involved into the story and by the ending I had been wishing I stopped reading. The book was pretty much like so many others out there that there was no fresh idea to it. Aliens who are pretty much vampires who crashed landed in Romania and well it just didn’t work for me.

Then there was the whole hive way of thinking and being led by a queen, no thanks just sounded like a bunch of worker bees. Now the story did have a good plot going on, and the world was different, but it bombed on me with all the extra added crap put into it. I think had it started out a bit different and not coming into feeling like I came into the middle would have been a better deal.

So for this book and possibly the rest of the series, it is not for me. However I will wait to see if book two gets better before totally giving in. Less of the dark tone and more fun is needed.

Review: An interesting take on a shifter story. The wolf and man are actually separate in this story but it still worked. Joel was the biggest plus in this book. Despite everyone telling him it was a dog that attacked him he knew what he saw and went out to look for himself. I loved that despite his disability Joel did not let anything stop him on his quest.

Guy was constantly trying to keep Joel at arms length for fear of what would happen. So the romance is extremely slow. I admit it was confusing at times the way the shifter aspect was done.

Joel’s depression at the beginning of the book was very understandable after what he suffered through and then when the memories of the actual event resurfaced. I loved that despite he was afraid he knew he had to find out the truth. The way Joel was portrayed was awe inspiring.

Great read.

Blurb: Bray is happy with life on Landran, surrounded by friends and those he considers family. But, just when he thinks they can settle down and enjoy the lives they’ve created there, another kidnapping forces them all back into action. With enemies coming from unexpected places, the hunt is on to find out who is targeting their clans and tearing apart families.

Known for his tactical genius and ability to solve problems, Bray works on piecing together the clues, determined to find the answers they need. What he finds leads him into the wilderness, facing one of the harshest environments possible, and Bray pushes himself to the edge, taking risks that no one would ever ask him to.

Leo has watched from the sidelines, helping out the Avanti, Kastain, and other clans as much as he can. Through it all he’s focused on one man— Bray. Thrilled to be close to him, he wishes circumstances were different. Rather than getting to know him, he’s watching Bray risk life and limb for those he cares about.

Meeting up with Leo brings Bray the help he needs, but also a need to fight the growing connection between them. They know if they are to have a chance to explore their bond, they must find the enemy out to destroy them and help put Landran back on the right path.

Their friends are quick to lend support, giving the Avanti and Landran the advantage they need to take on a fight that will determine the survival of everything and everyone they’ve grown to love.

Review: Each book in the Avanti Chronicles collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Bray is one of the last of the avanti to find a mate and he is wondering if it is the one man he has fallen in love with. To bad his ass has no clue what Leo thinks or feels. Then there is the betrayal from other tribes coming at them left and right, plus the dangers they don’t see and the kidnapping of one of their precious children. A war is what they want and a war is what they will get.

Leo is the head of his tribe but he knows with all his heart that Bray is his. When he goes to help Bray on setting up one of the traitors, he had not expected to have to help him find Chance nor what him climb a mountain without any gear. Talk about giving a man a heart attack. They find that during a war that is coming, that they have more family and friends then they thought.

I came across this author when the very first book in this series came out, and each time a new book comes I must go read the previous books again. It goes to show you how good these people are that they have others from different worlds coming to their aide. This is a family and friend group that I wished I belonged to. The story caught my attention from the start and kept it going all the way.

This story gave me excitement, adventure, danger, betrayal, cuddling and some hot sexy times. It gave me amazing characters that will just rock your world. I am not really sure I liked the ending though, it was a bit on the depressing side of things. Tate is the same as always and lets just face it, he rocks. Hot and sexy mates, war and fights and loving all wrapped into one sizzling package.

I had a blast reading this and will admit that I am going to go back to the very first book and start reading them again.

Review:   “You make me feel so many things, Fane. When I think of you, my cogs clench and my gears grind. Electricity sparks inside me, and power pools in my chest and groin, pulsing there, desperate for release. Do you not experience the same?”

Loved this! Funny and quirky and definitely original, this is a book that will stay with me for a long time. I’m not sure exactly what made such an impression, maybe it was a combination of clever and original characters, a well-executed and well-written plot, or maybe the fact that for a short story, this certainly packs a punch. I was definitely impressed!

It is now the year of 2045; humans live with the help of menagerie bots, who do the cleaning, cooking and all other household duties for them. Fane is a bartender in a gay bar but Fane is not one of those rich people who can afford their own bot. Imagine his surprise and delight when he finds an abandoned bot in a dumpster on his way home from work. Fane takes the bot home and fixes the shorted wire that cause the bot to malfunction. Jo-E comes to life and Fane’s life as he knew it is about to change forever.

Jo-E isn’t like all the other bots; his old owner ran a series of experiments on him to try to create the world’s first strong AI, experiments which resulted in a short-circuit. Jo-E finds himself able to experience things like a human’s does: he can feel, love, and appreciate beauty in a whole new way. Jo-E is also anatomically correct (read as hung as a horse) and Fane finds himself unable to resist the attraction and chemistry that sparks between them.

When Jo-E’s owner wants him back, Fane and Jo-E have to find a way to escape and be together, away from the danger they are currently in. This book delivered; it was funny, charming, fascinating, packed with action and charm.

I loved it and even though it was short, I didn’t feel like anything was missing, nor did I feel like it needed to be any longer! Fantastic short story!

Review: To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Finally after Dex’s antics and Sloan being a grumpy pants, we get to Calvin and Hobbs. These two have been best friends since they were little and that was never going to change. The only change is Calvin’s feelings for his best friend. He was in love and wanted more. However Hobb’s had so much trouble communicating with others, that he feared change. The big tiger could handle a building blowing up around him, but the moment his best friend kisses him he runs and hides. That is until Hobbs realizes he might just loose the man he loves.

It only took six books to get to these two facing their issues. You can feel the heat from these guys from book one and I am glad to see Hobbs stepping out of his comfort zone. At the same time they have a nasty case to deal with, Sparks training sessions are heating up and someone is trying to kill the. Should I add some one is trying to kill them AGAIN.

Now back to our other sexy couples, damn they are getting all lovey dovey. Ash has definitely surprised me, he is definitely no longer in the closet. Our sexy narrator has given us some amazing voices to listen to. I swear I could listen to that man all day long. He brings our characters to life and damn can he do so many different tones. I think I have listened to this book several times before remembering to do this review.

Now full warning there is a cliff hanger at the end that will have your mouth dropping opened. Even though Dex will always be my favorite, I have a special place inside for Hobbs. He has had such a difficult time with others that he pulls you in no matter what. He protects Calvin physically, where as Calvin protects him emotionally. These two just rock for me.

Charlie Cochet has became a favorite author of mine from the very first book. In fact I hate to admit that I did the audio’s before I even picked up one of her books. I love listening to our guys fight, argue, sigh if they want to and just be a lot of fun together. Who knew Dex could sing so good. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, it is going to be a kicker. This is one series that if I could give it a ten heart rating I would.

I would definitely recommend it.
