Review: This is a BDSM story, but a lighter fare than most.

Two couples, the Doms, and their boys meet for a night out at The Hammer, their BDSM club. While all intentions are for the boys to have a scene and play with each other, the two subs are feeling rather bratty and rather full of the plugs and edging torture their masters are subjecting them to. By the end of the evening, it turns out each pair finishes of their sexual encounter with a more intimate pleasure, between Dom and sub.

Nothing tremendously deep here, the writing is lacking layers and depth, but that isn’t really, what one reads this series for anyhow is it? It’s a quick kink-fest, and I do so enjoy a whimpering boy.

Blurb:A missed trip to Paris results in two long-time casual friends finding BDSM heaven instead.

Geoffrey begged his ex-boyfriend, Brian, for some bondage, not public humiliation on YouTube. On Valentine’s Day, he runs into Brian’s best friend Paul, who seems intent on righting Brian’s wrongs. But trusting Paul means Geoffrey has to come clean with his needs … and his feelings.

Paul sees Geoffrey in the bar and knows this is his chance to convince him he’s nothing like Brian. He starts slow and safe, setting strict ground rules. But when Geoffrey insists on a reenactment of the same Dom-play Brain used to hurt him, is a safeword enough to protect their fledgling love?

Review: This is a good little story.  I liked the characters and the premise of the story.

Geoffrey finds himself alone on Valentine’s day after  a breakup from his longtime boyfriend, He finally had asked for what he wanted thinking he could trust his lover to find himself humiliated, and now unable to trust another man. Paul was Brian’s best friend but had known Geoffrey for a very long time also. He is unsure if he should divulge his secret to Geoffrey especially after what Brian had done.

I liked the story and the characters. It’s well written and complete. I like that in a short story. It didn’t feel rushed, but I did think it repeated the hints of what had happened to Geoffrey a bit much. Otherwise, I really liked the story a lot. It’s very hot and sexy and I found it easy to follow and to believe.

I recommend this if you like a little bondage, friends to lovers, and some hot mansex.

Blurb: It’s been nearly a year since Rose and Thorne met and things are going really well. They love their jobs at the tattoo parlor, they’re thinking of spending some time volunteering, and their love is flourishing, in the bedroom and out of it!

Rose is still somewhat hesitant about the things he and Thorne enjoy together, though. He’s been brought up to think that things like spanking during sex are weird. Will Thorne be able to convince him that whatever gets them off together is perfectly normal for them? And if he does, will Rose be able to take the next step — calling Thorne Sir?

Review: It’s a rather soft BDSM tale.

It’s really rather sweet, lots of love, patience and community volunteering. Tattoos and piercings are also a large part of this series. There are parts of this story that move incredibly slow, and parts that seem to skip some subtleties like the piercings. I think that is a major step yet, the actual process, the piercing is quickly glazed over. Hard to believe for me that by book three Rose is still confused about the nature of their relationship, again that seems to be the slow-moving part.

This is a lighthearted read, yes, there is some spanking, and D/s but it’s not heavy. Odd to say this about a BDSM story, but it’s cute.

Will he change for love? Will he lose himself forever? Or will each man finally be… Cherished?

Review:  Scotty is an accidental dominant. He lives the lifestyle because he demands respect and control, and the only place he’s ever found it is within the BDSM lifestyle. He is not cruel though, he believes in protecting the integrity of the lifestyle as well as the submissives. Wesley is an Art student that is crushing big time on Scotty. He finally approaches him and asks him out on a dare. He’s not exactly a submissive, but he would do just about anything for Scotty.

Wesley quickly breaks through nearly every barrier Scotty has built, finding his way to his heart. Scotty wages an inner battles between his heart and mind, afraid to give up the control his dominate side provides and let Wesley into his heart. The last guy he trusted betrayed him. His life has been a misery of misplaced trust and betrayal. Can he truly give himself to Wesley and not be broken, again?

Scotty and Wesley are complete opposites who could have a chance at happiness if they can find a balance of love, trust, and compromise. Each one struggles with the possibility of a relationship at different times throughout the story, and for differing reasons. Sex is never really an issue, aside from Scotty trying his damnedest to exert his control as a Dom at the start, but learning somewhere along the way, he’s just as happy to submit.

This was a very powerful read, I know that is a strong word, but it’s the only one that comes to mind at the moment. York managed to find a balance between the pain and grief inflicted upon her characters, leveling out that content with love and passion. Scotty is assured in his role as a Dom, being the caring boyfriend is new and dangerous territory for him. Wesley isn’t a virgin, but his inexperience mixed with his strong personality make it difficult for him to completely be a sub. Where do they find their balance; can they?

The violence in the story is appalling, possibly because I can see the reality in it. If you are a fan of BDSM and stories with a struggle that finds a conclusion, then this would be a book for you. There is some nasty, steamy, passionate sex peppered throughout as well. Bonus!

Blurb: Sebastian had never thought about being submissive to anyone before the sexy Gavin Sanborn had proposed the idea to him one day in his Bistro. Now that the idea and opportunity was there, he was intrigued enough to learn more. Sebastian definitely wanted Gavin. The only problem was Sebastian also wanted the one woman he’d denied for most of their lives, his best friend, and housemate, Carissa.

Gavin had wanted the owner and chef of his favorite Bistro for some time now, but he’d also had his attention on the chef’s lady friend. The fiery red head had captured him from the first time he set eyes on her. Gavin had been looking for the person he could love and spend the rest of his life with; he just wondered if one or both of them could be the solution and become the love he’d been looking for.

Review: Whoa there Nelly! This relatively short read surprised the heck out of me with its beginning. If it wasn’t the most forward and shocking way to introduce your main characters. I liked it! Unfortunately, there is where all enjoyment ends.

First, let’s get to the BDSM element I expected to see. Both title and blurb give you that impression; however, there was a complete lack of any BDSM-related scene in this book. It couldn’t be more vanilla if it tried to. We expected to see a Dom claiming a submissive with whom he’d eventually fall for and turn this relationship into something more… Instead, we got a Dom who makes a move on a person who has no relation with kink or any D/s scenes, doesn’t even know what a submissive really is, and jumps into agreeing to sign a “contract” with a man he just met and only dated/had sex with once. All the while, he has no comprehension of what a contract, as this man’s sub would entail. I mean literally Gavin mentions a contract signing to a person who has no idea what entails to be a sub, and Sebastian doesn’t bat an eye at that. No reaction! Simply continues the conversation… Hmmm! Now why do I not like this?

We also get the expectation of a threesome between Gavin, Sebastian, and Carissa. It’s there in the subtext and Riss is a constant in Sebastian and Gavin’s mind. However, beside a masturbation scene, we see nothing from Riss. Just her presence and I suppose the next book will feature her and the boys as they try to get her in their setup.

As for the erotic part of this “erotica,” I’m afraid it totally failed to touch me. The scenes between the two men were simple enough, but they lacked sensuality, intensity, and connection in every sense. A bland narration had me cringing most of the time with the insensible dialogues between them, the visuals that crashed and burned, and the fact that the erotic was overcome by hasty feelings of love. There was no actual space for deeper emotions here, yet they made an appearance and overwhelmed a text that was already a bit ludicrous to begin with. In addition, the only part I felt had a nice description that allowed for some hot visual and imagination, was the end scene when Riss and Gavin finally meet and I got a proper glimpse at what Gavin really looks like, because up until that point all I had of him was tall, dark, and handsome with long black hair.

Bottom end, I did not like this book. It failed to capture me or make me feel any other emotion beside disbelief.

Blurb: Matthew and Stuart have been dating for more than five months and Stuart thinks things are going well—right up until the moment Matthew suggests they try something different, the kind of different that involves bondage, spanking, and leather.

Matthew’s been building up to making this suggestion for weeks, dropping subtle hints and hoping Stuart won’t completely freak out at the mention of kink. Now, with Matthew’s desires out in the open, all he can do is hope that introducing something different will make their relationship perfect rather than destroy it…

Review: Now this is not your average Dom/sub story. No, this isn’t even your average leather/kink story. This is a perfect start of a relationship.

Just like the blurb says Matthew has been working his courage to talk to Stuart about bring their relationship one step further. What I loved about it was the fact that these guys started dating without the kink element being noted from the beginning. They are your average vanilla guys who date and have vanilla sex.

When Matthew finally opens his mouth and mentions “different,” I must admit the entire restaurant scene where it happened was brilliant. Stuart’s reaction, although odd at first) came to make all the difference. I loved Stuart, brave, brave character.

When the guys finally have their scenes, it happened quite incidentally. Stuart’s behavior gives Matthew all he needs to know that if he doesn’t show Stuart that he’s different indeed from his past experience, he’ll never have a chance with Stuart again. But thing is that both Matthew and Stuart are too deep in their relationship to let it crash and burn, so both make the effort, both meet halfway there. And the result is lovely.

I’ve always thought Kim Dare had a nice pen, but the more she writes the better she gets. Both scenes involved in the story were fantastic. The emotions conveyed were done so brilliantly. I loved Stuart’s anxiety, his fear, and how he tried not to let that overwhelm him. I loved Matthew’s patience, his care, and determination. In the end, even as the sexual intensity was fantastic, I love the way that their love showed in this story, how great the blend love and kink was and well, the spanking scene was perhaps the most perfect one I’ve read so far.

Recommended? Oh Hell yeah!
