Blurb: What Austin Lloyd lacks in academics, he makes up for in his love of the animals who frequent his pet salon. He’s not lucky in romance, though, and his family would like him to settle down with a good man. Austin—and his golden retriever, Maggie—couldn’t’t agree more.

Evan Partridge isn’t good at letting people in. His messy family life and the past that’s shaped him aren’t worth bringing up. But his pug, Dexter, sure likes the pet salon owner.

Austin and Evan get off to a rough start, but being friends soon turns into something more. Unfortunately, Evan’s secretive behavior nearly does the relationship in, and the budding love affair almost crashes and burns when Evan’s troubled sister shows up on his doorstep.

Not speaking to each other is killing them both, but Evan doesn’t know how to keep Austin and help his sister at the same time. He just knows he has to try. Winning back Austin’s trust back, however, is going to take a whole lot of work.

Review: There once was a little baby Pug called Dexter, and he was the most precious puppy ever! This little dude took everything in stride, from being the last one to be picked up from the groomer’s, getting his fur decorated with markers by a 3-year-old, and getting accidentally shaved. This little dude loved anyone and everyone and he wanted nothing more than to be loved on and cuddled.

In fact, I loved Dexter so much (not to mention admired him for his ability to see the cup always half full instead of half empty).he was the main character in this book, at least for me. He certainly was easier to love on and understand than his stubborn, aggravating father, Evan Partridge. Evan is a professor at the university, and Dexter is the only creature he lets himself get close to. A difficult childhood and a crazy sister he has to deal with on a weekly basis made Evan into a distant, cold person.

Austin Lloyd might not have a higher level education, but his love for animals and his dedication for his pet grooming business makes up for it. Austin is a very friendly person, whose parents and friends want to see him finally settled with a partner he loves. Things start off pretty rough between Evan and Austin, but eventually they become close friends.

I liked all the beautiful fun times they spent with Austin’s old friends and his family. But even that couldn’t overshadow my dislike for Evan. God, but he was a miserable bastard! He was hot and then cold, up and then down, in and then out… and in a great need of an epic ass kicking that I wouldn’t have minded giving myself! Once his sister showed up and declared Evan belonged to her and nobody else is welcome….. I was pissed off.

I didn’t think the whole drama towards the end was necessary, because Evan’s sister was more than enough; Evan really didn’t need to be such a jerk and push Austin away. Another complaint is that there was almost no steam. Okay, they do make it in bed, but it happened very late in the book, and by that point I was so aggravated with Evan, it didn’t matter anymore. Besides, as soon as they got there Evan’s sister showed up and ruined everything.

5 Hearts for Dexter the Pug and for Maggie the Golden Retriever (Austin’s dog), 4 hearts for Austin and his awesome friends and family, and 1 Heart for Evan and his psychotic sister…. 3 Hearts final rating.

Review: Rory and Ben have been friends ever since the day Rory moved in next door to Ben when they were still kids. Over the years they grew up together and something more than the simple bond of friendship developed between them.

Just before their senior year, both young men came clean about their mutual feelings and swore they would love each other forever. But high school, peer pressure and the need to fit in got in the way. A decade later and Rory winds up in Ben’s path again, just like before, but he wants nothing to do with giving Ben a second chance.

I was drawn into the story from the start when a very young Ben got jealous and kicked Rory in the shins. When forced to apologize it was the first of many times Ben would be mesmerized by Rory’s smile.

Then the story jumps to present day and, I was a little confused at first, but the time jump quickly clears itself up and Ben explains to his now best friend exactly what a tool he was in high school. Ben feels like he is being given a second chance at that first love, the one that got away, and the one no one has ever been able to compete with. But Rory is stand-offish and resistant from the start.

As the story progresses, the friendship slowly slides back into something similar to the past and the two men become inseparable again. Ben goes into the situation realizing it’s just a friend’s with benefits type of situation, but is no less heartbroken when that nail is forcibly hammered home.

There was a lot of angst, but both men are still in their late twenties, so it is to be expected. What I enjoyed the most about this audio was getting to watch Ben and Rory navigate through all that pain, anger and hurt and try to find their way back to each other. Neither having been whole since they have been apart. But Rory doesn’t make it easy, and why should he? Ben broke his heart.

Narrated by George Somerset, my first party with him, but I’d be willing to accept another invitation. I loved the voices he gave the characters and I could literally feel Ben’s pain there toward the end of the story. This was a fast, emotional, slightly angsty read and overall, I really enjoyed it.

Blurb: Eleven years ago, Shane Ventura made the biggest mistake of his life when he caved in to pressure from his record label to kick his best friend, Jesse Seider, out of their band, Luck. To this day, Shane has never wanted anyone more, and all the sex and alcohol in the world can’t fill the void Jesse left behind. Not even the prospect of teaming up with Britain’s hottest band, Moonlight, for a massive world tour can get him out of his funk. Then he meets lead singer Kayden Berlin and falls into instant lust.

Kayden may act like he’s not interested, but Shane knows he feels the spark between them. Yet the harder Shane pushes, the more Kayden pulls away, until one explosive night leaves Shane with a broken heart. That seems to be his lot—lucky at everything but love. Shane still has one lesson left to learn, though: when it comes to love, you can’t always leave things to chance.

Review: This is the second edition and while the storyline remains the same, it has been expanded with added scenes and an epilogue. This book was great, it has rock and roll, sex, betrayal, a little bit of *******… (I am soooo not telling you), heartbreak and forgiveness.

I loved all the characters (well except for Nicky, Shane’s brother). Shane made the biggest mistake of his life when he betrayed his best friend and lover Jesse and he has regretted it ever since, he has now met someone who he wants even more than he wanted Jesse, Kayden but Kayden doesn’t want anything to do with Shane.

You feel Shane’s frustration and bewilderment from the first time he meets Kayden as Kayden makes his dislike of Shane and his brother well known, Shane tries his best to get on Kayden’s good side but whenever he seems to make a breakthrough, Kayden always reverts back to disdain. Can he ever break through Kayden’s walls… but what about Jesse? He still has dreams about him and there are flashback’s to his life with Jesse.

Well what can I say but… wow way to get your *******. It’s blistering hot, sad, forgiving and heartfelt. It’s a great read that will have you chuckling, smiling and hopeful. A definite feel good, happy ever after.

Blurb: Rock star Nick Ventura has finally hit rock bottom. Jealous of his brother’s new love, he overindulges in his usual vices and winds up crashing his car into a department store in a drunken haze. Publicly humiliated and on the verge of jail time, he enters into a court-ordered rehabilitation program.

Nutritionist Luka Novak is flamboyant, effeminate, and the type of gay man bisexual Nick would normally sneer at. But his sunny nature hides a deep hurt caused by an unfaithful ex-boyfriend. As much as Luka knows he should be wary of Nick’s reputation, he’s drawn to Nick despite himself. Their tentative friendship turns into romance, but Luka soon comes to realize Nick’s fear of losing his bad boy reputation means he’ll probably never go public with their relationship.

Nick never needed anyone until Luka came into his life. Now he has to reconcile his carefree past with the future he suddenly wants more than anything. And the first lesson he must learn is how to become the man both he and Luka need him to be, rather than stay the boy he always was. Alone.

Review: This book is the 2nd edition and has had the editing cleaned-up but the storyline has not been changed. Nick is falling to rock bottom quickly and this latest incident of driving while high and drunk into Saks has forced the people around him to intervene, now forced into rehab and counselling he has no intention of changing his ways and he hasn’t any problems anyway. Luka is the nutritionist at the rehab centre and he quickly sees behind Nick’s shell, they become friends and then more when Nick is released but Nick’s fame comes at a price and Luka doesn’t believe that Nick will pay the price to be with him.

I didn’t like Nick in Moonlight Becomes You but now seeing things from his point of view I can totally understand why he acted like he did and why he still acts that way. Nick has only ever had one sure thing in his life and that’s his brother Shane but when Shane takes up with Jesse and then marries him Nick starts to do more drinking and drugs, he can’t cope with the desertion of his brother or Jesse for taking his brother away and it leads to him crashing his car. Luka cuts straight through to Nick’s core and sees what Nick has been missing and through friendship he helps Nick to get back on his own two feet without resorting to drink or drugs to block out how he feels.

I really liked this book. The relationship between Nick and Luka was slow. Even though they were attracted to each other, they became friends first and spent time together as just friends. And then they started dating before sex became involved. And yes, Nick is still a bit of a prick, but he does try to curb his impulses. Unfortunately, he still screws up with Luka a couple of times because of his image and what Nick thinks other people would think. When Nick and Luka are alone they are the perfect couple and get along great but even trying to get Nick to go out in public with him is hard and Luka won’t accept that or any excuses, Luka is very ridged in that respect as he won’t be hidden or go back in the closet for anyone.

The way that Nick was portrayed was good. He has relied on his brother to clean up his messes and to be there for him all the time. But, we have to remember that Nick was still quite young when the band got their contract and he has just followed in his brothers footsteps and done what he did. He has never really had to face responsibility for his actions, as everybody threw money at a problem and it just went away. I can understand why Nick felt abandoned by his brother and I admired the way that when he got out of rehab, he stayed away from the temptation of returning to the drink and drugs. Although his determination to keep the image he had was a silly one, considering how much he had changed.

This really is a book where Nick finds himself and finally grows up. He becomes a better person and some of that was for Luka. Because he wanted to be, the sort of man Luka wanted. But that doesn’t mean he has an easy time, far from it. He messes up quite a few times and yes, Luka forgives him. But, Luka has a core of steel and when Nick goes too far, Luka shows him just how steely he can be. Luka is the man for Nick. He can gauge Nick’s actions well, and he doesn’t let Nick get away with anything. The lovemaking between them is hot and erotic. And the revelation that Nick has about the difference between sex and lovemaking is really good.

With this book I am going to recommend it to those who want, a story where one of the MC’s finally faces up to taking responsibility, falling in love and accepting that things change. And who want a bit of angst, humour, and a relationship that is slow and sweet but with its ups and downs but with a happy ending.

5 of hearts logo red on black smallReview: Isaac has no memory of his life prior to the car crash that took the lives of his parents. Raised by Ronan, a grifter, Isaac is about to assume the identity of one Isaac Shelley, to whom he bears an uncanny resemblance. Infiltrating the Shelley family proves to be much easier than Isaac anticipated, perhaps because Merigold Shelly, the patriarch of the family, is certain that he is her grandson. It’s the sexy, flirtatious Cary Talbot that is the problem.

Cary is a grifter as well, and the Shelley’s extensive and expensive wine collection is what he has his sights on. The gorgeous, young, and inexperienced grandson Isaac is just icing on the cake. Cary uses their mutual attraction to seduce the heir apparent and everything is going according to plan, until a third person wiggles their way into the grift and Isaac realizes that Cary is actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

They try hard to stay away from each other, to hate each other, but something seems to always push them back together. When the third-party is revealed as well as a few more ‘family secrets’ Cary is free to go his own way. Age difference, unsavory careers, and chosen identities aside, these two have fallen in love. But can they get past all the obstacles in their way and actually trust each other enough to follow through?

Did you ever see the movie ‘The Grifters’ with Jon Cusack and Angelica Huston? Imagine that movie set in wine country with the threat of Uma Thurman from Kill Bill and a gay love story developing behind the scenes. Now you have a pretty good visual for Corkscrewed. There was mystery, intrigue, suspense and some pretty smexy love scenes. O’Shea has an ability to write the most unlikely love stories, make them believable, relatable, and still give the characters depth. Definitely an author I will buy just because her name is on the book, don’t care what it’s about because it is bound to be terrific!

A must read for anyone that likes romantic comedies with a bit of intrigue and a plethora of sexual situations. There is shy getting to know you sex, can’t seem to bury myself any further inside of you sex, I hate you but I want you sex and my personal favorite, angry sex. I promise you this, you won’t be bored!

Review: Short, Sexy and Steamy… say it with me everybody… my three favourite colors!!!

Sam and Ryan have been best friends since they were children, spending every day, almost every minute together. Sam’s an only child whose parents spend their time globetrotting and attending high-end dinners. Ryan’s the only boy surrounded by sisters, but a loving family none the less. He’s been living with Sam to be closer to school, away from the drama that is the daily life of several teenage girls and truth be told, Sam thoroughly enjoys the company. But now it’s time for Ryan to go to college, and leave his best friend behind.

A frantic but fantastic moment shared between best friends ends in sorrow when words are misconstrued, and then Ryan is on his way to Seattle, and everything is left unsaid. Both Sam and Ryan are miserable immediately. They fell in love a long time ago, but neither ever spoke up for fear of losing each other if the feelings weren’t returned.

Ryan makes friends and considers dating, but realizes he can’t stop loving Sam. While Sam starts cooking school and wallows in his own misery, feeling the loneliness left in Ryan’s absence. Thankfully, Ryan will be home for Christmas break soon. But will either young man find the strength to say all the things they’ve left unsaid?

One thing O’Shea knows is how to write a great coming of age, angsty romance with lots of passion and steam. While Sam and Ryan are both a tad bit immature in the beginning, making decisions out of hurt and haste, they do finally admit their shared feelings and grow up a bit.

I loved that their first time together was all arms and legs and awkwardness, it really fed into the overall feel of the story. In the end, I was left with a sweet story about soul mates that left a smile on my face.

A little something from M.J. O’SheaM.J. O'Shea - Dark Sun

Hi, this is M.J. O’Shea:)  I thought I’d give you a mini version of the soundtrack I made for Dark Sun and Rising Sun. I do this with every book. I can’t write with music on, but I usually listen to the playlist in my car and get into the  “mood” of the story and setting. This will be a combo of Dark Sun and the music I added for Rising Sun.

It wouldn’t be right to start with any other songs. The world itself came from a combination of Muse’s Assassin and Glorious. If you read Dark Sun and then come back and listen to these two songs, I think you’ll understand how it happened:)

Muse — Assassinhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfRQXIJ3fEM

Muse —  Glorioushttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wplx6ScmDc0

The rest of these are just part of the sound I was going for for gritty New Seattle and are a mix of songs I chose for the first book and the second.

Metric — Artificial Nocturnehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmYRRcaQLno

Nine Inch Nails — Every Day is Exactly the Samehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3K1t0669no

Late Night Alumni — In The Asheshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR8K24nuqss

Bastille — The Silencehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00p2FW7ZLVo

Decoder Ring — Beat the Twilighthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhDtWtY6T1s

About M.J.

I’m Mj O’Shea, author of erotic romance–well all sorts of romance actually, that’s just what’s been published so far!

I grew up, and still live, in sunny Washington state and while I love to visit other places, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.

I spent my childhood writing stories. Sometime in my early teens, the stories turned to romance. Most of those were about me, my friends, and our favorite tv stars. Hopefully, I’ve come a long way since then…

Right now, I have four books published through Republica Press (click on the link to visit their site), but I’m constantly working on new projects.

When I’m not writing, I love to play the piano and cook and paint pictures…and of course read. It’s nearly impossible to work on my own writing when I’ve gotten myself hooked into a great new book:) I like sparkly girly girl things, own at least twenty different colored headbands, and I have a little white dog with a ginger eye spot who sits with me when I write. Sometimes she comes up with ideas for me too…when she’s not napping.

Blurb: Castor Kovalenko, socialite and high ranking member of the Dragon Triad, is worried about his cousin, Lynx. He’s been missing for weeks and there have been rumors circling the city, rumors that he’s been taken hostage by the hacker thief Yoru Katana. Castor needs to find his cousin before it’s too late. He’s willing to do nearly anything to bring Lynx to safety.

Jaffa Sharp is trying to stay alive. It’s not easy when the only thing you’ve ever learned to do is steal. Even harder when he keeps running into one annoying Dragon prince who keeps trying to get him arrested.

When Castor uses Jaffa to get to his cousin and the thief Katana, they both learn that nothing is as it seemed, including Lynx and Katana himself. Castor and Jaffa soon become involved in a plot to take the city back from the villainous triads. They find themselves fighting the people they thought were their leaders — and fighting an attraction stronger than either of them have felt before. Nothing is certain in their precarious new world: Life, death, friend, enemy, and the most uncertain thing of all…love.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Castor is worried when his cousin Lynx goes missing and his family cover it up, with his brother Pollux Castor sets out to find out what has really happened to Lynx and to see if there is any truth to the rumors that Lynx is with the thief Katana. Jaffa lives in Midtown, he steals to feed his two friends but a jaunt to Metrolevel Market finds him crossing paths with a member of the Dragon Triad who seems determined to turn him over to the police. Both Castor and Jaffa learn the truth of the Triad’s when Castor uses Jaffa to get to Katana… and now it is a fight for their life and their freedom.

This is a great story that has the corrupt Triad’s ruling a city with a small gang trying to free the city from the Triad’s grip. Castor and Jaffa come from completely different walks of life, Castor is a member of the ruling Dragon Triad and is used to the comforts in life, whereas Jaffa lives in a derelict building struggling to steal enough to eat. When these two men meet their attraction is slow building and very much in the background, they become friends and become close working together on the larger plot line. Their developing feelings for each other happen over the course of the book and yes it is very sweet, but the real progress comes late in the book.

The main storyline is of Castor, Jaffa, Pollux, Lynx, Orion, Cassiopeia (Orion’s sister) and various others work together to change life for all of New Seattle and to show the Triad’s in their true light. Now this part of the story is brilliant as we follow all the moves and risks that the gang take, it is beautifully woven as decisions are made and a revolution takes place. My only complaint was that Castor and Jaffa were pushed to the sideline as Orion, Lynx and Cassiopeia seemed to take over and pulled the focus away from Castor and Jaffa… it was still seen from their eyes but was focused on the revolution and what others were doing.

So a great story but it does lack in the developing of the relationship, yes we see the sideways glances and the small touches but a lot of it is lost as the focus moves outwards to everything else that is happening. I do admit that the gearing up of the revolution is very interesting and exciting and is pulled together brilliantly, it definitely steals the show. Now I warned at the beginning that you have to read Dark Sun first and the reason is that what happened in Dark Sun is essential to Rising Sun’s plot and storyline, if you don’t read the first book then you wander around in the dark trying to figure out what is going on and while some of it is explained it only clears the fog a bit.

I recommend this to those who love futuristic stories, MC’s with character, finding love in unexpected places, a great storyline, a fight for freedom and a wonderful ending.

Blurb: Charlie Fitzgerald is sick of being the kid nobody takes seriously. His older brother Colin is fighting vampires and other troublemakers in New York City, and Charlie wants in on the action—but no one will listen. Then he overhears the Lycan council is looking for a human emissary to take a message of peace to a werewolf in the forests of Romania, and Charlie decides he’s the man for the job.

Xan is furious: his best friend, Charlie, one of the Fitzgeralds he’s vowed to protect, is walking into danger, and Xan chases him all the way to the freezing Romanian forest to save his stubborn butt. When Charlie is almost killed, Xan realizes he feels much more than friendship for his charge, and emotions that have been bubbling under the surface of his calm façade threaten to boil over and flood them both.

They end up in the middle of a political mess involving Lycans, werewolves, and nosy vampires, and if they make it out alive, the friendship between the headstrong hunter and his bullheaded protector might turn into a love neither can live without.

Review: This is the 2nd edition. The 1st edition was published by M.J. O’Shea, April 2012.

To get a good idea on who everyone is you need to start with Book one. I got to tell you that this one is my favorite of this series. I am not sure why, but it just seemed more real to me. The story line is fantastic, with the danger and excitement flowing throughout the book. It had more of a serious tone to it, but it did have its humorous side to it. It always amazes me the gift one has to tell a story.

Charlie is a human that comes from a long line of hunters. Usually one thinks that hunters kill every paranormal in sight, but with this story they seem to work together to get rid of those who are evil. He has known all along about his family, even growing up thinking that was what he would do. Although he does find out that is not the case when it comes to him. He is so cute, that you just want to hug him all the time. He has a bit of attitude about certain things, but he can be persuaded to have it changed.

He had grown up with Xan since they were little children. Now he is notices more and more that times are changing between them. He finds out Xan is not what he seems. He is in fact his protector. He is so pissed at him, but he also realizes he is in fact falling for his best friend. Xan has always known certain things, but when it comes out, he fears that he will lose the one person he is falling in love with him. He needs to be near the forest, but he wants to be with Charlie.

Xan is loveable, caring, gentle, and fiercely protective of Charlie. The sex starts out slow and heats up to a nice flame.

I loved this book and I do hope that there will be another book to this series. I lose myself in stories when life gets too much, and this will be one of my top choices to read more than once. It makes a great add to my library.

Review: Many people who know me know that my favorite reads in the world are paranormal romances, especially when it is two very hot and sexy men. What’s more is when those two men don’t just fall in love and in bed right off the bat. I love it when there are twists and turns to their relationships. M.J. never fails to amaze me.

This book is another hit and I absolutely loved it. Mile’s is a true wonder and believes that monsters only exist in him imagination and in his stories. That is until he comes face to face with them in the wonderful city of New York. He is rescued by the rough and tough PC, who is trying everything to break their bond. You would fall in love with Miles if you ever met him, quirky sense of humor and is unique and gentle. His smile would light the way for any sexy man looking at him. PC on the other hand is sexy and hot with a temper to match. However, he would give up his life to keep Miles from dying.

The sex between them both will set the sheets on fire and keep you heated up all night long. This story has a perfect story line, one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love plots that involve love, hate, danger, and pain. There is a lot of danger in this story one that will show you the twist and turns of their budding romance. Now if PC will let himself fall in love.

I couldn’t put this story down at all, even gave up the idea of eating for a bit. I turned on the radio, got myself a drink and sat down for a day of reading. I can see myself reading this story many times over.

Blurb:  Rory was Ben’s oldest and best friend until senior year of high school, when they confessed they’d harbored feelings for each other all along. They enjoyed only a few months of happiness until Ben chose closeted popularity over true love… and he’s regretted it ever since.

Eight years later, Ben is out, proud, and teaching art at the same high school, he graduated from. When he learns the chemistry teacher is retiring, he’s excited to meet her replacement until he finds out the brand new teacher is none other than Rory Newton—the first love he’s never quite gotten over. Despite a painfully awkward start, it doesn’t take Ben long to realize he’ll do whatever it takes to win Rory back. But it’s starting to look like even his best might not be enough.

Review: Sigh. Sometimes you read a love story and all that is left to do is to sigh happily. The love story between Rory and Ben is beautifully told without dragging the reader through chapters of preamble and teenage angst.  We are introduced to the foundation that is Rory and Ben and then we meet the adult counterparts, which is where the story really begins.  Every notable couple in history has had to battle a myriad of trials in order for them to earn true love.  Rory and Ben are no different, except the trials they must battle are themselves.

The story has a lovely yin and yang feel to it. It is Ben who ends their teenage love affair and when they meet again, it was Ben who must work to regain Rory’s affection.  As such, this puts Rory as the alpha in the relationship and so when he shatters Ben’s illusions, it becomes Rory’s job to then be the hero and save their love. This establishes a balance between them and balances the scales so to speak.  This is critical because for most of the story Ben serves as a whipping boy and while Ben is happy to be self-sacrificing and take whatever he can get from Rory, the reader has to admit that Rory is being a tad selfish and maybe a little self-absorbed.  Yet through it all, the reader forgives Rory, acknowledging his pain and fear from his former broken relationship with Ben.  But, Rory is still lovely and the reader still roots for he and Ben to find their HEA.

The secondary characters in the story are also well written and crafted and do an excellent job in providing the reader with insight into Rory since the story is narrated from Ben’s perspective. The key to a good romance is for the reader to really like the characters and to either be able to see themselves as one of them or for the writer to craft the tale in such a way that the reader feels that they are living the story with them. The reader in this story feels like one of the friends sitting on the sidelines and watching these two men who are desperately in love with each other make mistake after mistake instead of simply claiming the happiness the both so richly deserve. So when it finally happens the reader is thrilled and then what you get is a smile and well … a happy sigh.

GREAT READ.

Blurb: There’s something different about Noah….

Zack Parker met his best friend Noah at his lake cabin when they were only five years old. He realized he felt more than friendship for him by the time they were in junior high school. One fateful night when they were eighteen Zack couldn’t take it anymore. Fueled by love and lust and need, he finally kissed Noah like he’d wanted to for years…and Noah kissed him back, returning every drop of Zack’s passion.

The next morning, Noah ended their friendship for what Zack believed was forever.

Now twenty-one, Zack resents being dragged by his guilt-tripping mother every summer back to the lake cabin where every leaf and rock and turn in the road reminds him of Noah and the love he felt for him three long years before. He hates being reminded of what he lost and more than anything, he wants his best friend back.

But this year things are different.

Noah has returned, apologetic and more gorgeous than ever. Amazingly, he seems to want Zack as much as Zack wants him. He’s sweet and attentive, sexy enough to make Zack’s thighs quiver, but there’s something not quite right…

What secret is Noah hiding?

Product Link: http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=4289

Review: I found this story to be a wonderful addition to my library. It was told with just the right amount of flare. In a time where the paranormal world was feared by many of the humans, a hunter and a human meet as children. Zack had loved Noah from the moment they realized what love was like and Noah felt the same. Noah separated them because of the danger he represented as hunter, but one year has passed and he couldn’t stop loving Zach. Even with the original secret Noah is holding, Zach still loves him. The new secret, the real reason Noah didn’t search him out was a little bit harder to believe.

At first reading it though, my attention wavered just a bit, but the further I got into the story the better it go. I thought the plot and story line were pretty good, although it could have used a little bit more action and not so much explanation. I am just not sure how exactly to explain it. However, being the first book of a series it was pretty good. To understand how they knew each other and how they felt in the beginning makes for an interesting start.

I liked the characters Zach and Noah. The spark that is between them makes me want to fan myself from their first kiss a year ago; to the passion, they have now. Zach’s pain made me just want to smack Noah, but after Noah explained the reason for leaving I fell a little bit in love with Noah. The sex between them is very steamy but tender. Their love is sweet but a little sappy.

Even the dangers present have a little bit of a twist to it. There is some confusion close to the ending of it about the actual ages of the character and I am feeling that the ending left me hanging. Which actually is very intriguing (not the confusion of ages, but the ending) because now I want to read the next book to see what will happen next.

Review:  Yikes, this was a big jump from the first book in the series, One Small Thing, which I really enjoyed. The story started out with promise, and I was interested in how the conflicts between Dustin and Asher would evolve, but unfortunately I never got invested enough to care.

Partly the issue was the good twin/evil twin trope, which is hard to pull off without making the story feel two-dimensional. Archer was just a little too ‘bad’ for my taste, rendering the story unbelievable.

It also didn’t help that both the twins had ‘A’ names. And very similar ones at that. Often, I got confused at who was who and had to reread sections.

That being said, I did enjoy the scenes from Asher’s perspective as he worked in his photo studio, and Dusty and Asher are sweet together. I’m also happy that Dusty finally got his HEA.

A sweet read, if a bit flat.

Blurb:Danny Bright was born to entertain. He just needs his big break. So when he hears that Blue Horizon Records is holding auditions looking for the next big thing, Danny jumps at the chance. It doesn’t turn out exactly as he imagined, though. Instead of getting solo contracts, Danny and four other guys are put into a boy band.

Innocent, idealistic Elliot Price thinks he’s headed for college. An impulsive decision to sing in the local talent search changes all that. A bigwig producer happens to see him, hands him a business card, and turns Elliot’s life upside down.

Elliot and Danny are close from the beginning. They love all the guys, but it’s different with each other. Soon their friendship turns into feelings more intense than either of them can ignore. The other three boys only want Danny and Elliot to be happy, but when their management team and record label discover two of their biggest tween heartthrobs are in a relationship, they’re less than pleased. Danny and Elliot find themselves in the middle of a circle of lies and cover-ups, all with one bottom line—money. They have to stay strong and stick together if they don’t want to lose themselves… and each other.

Review: This was a nicely written story that follows Danny and Elliot’s love story. They meet when a big producer tries to fix together a boy-band. All their dreams are just about to come true; their music, the fame, their friendship with each other, and the rest of the band, but most importantly their love that blooms with first sight and only grow stronger. This is the story of how things go behind the scene when all lights turn off and the entire glamor is gone. This is the wrenching story of how money and showbiz can pretty much drain your soul and make the most important things in your life seem meaningless and empty.

To tell the truth I felt a bit detached from this one. I’ve never been a fan the way it’s described here and I simply don’t understand that level of obsession, thus trying really hard not to be judgmental of many things described in the book. However, the reality of how that stress and money-sharks can tear someone apart was very well put. We’ve all seen it at some level, and some of us have witness it more intimately. Quite accurate was the fact that no matter how much you know something is not real it still hurt to listen to the lies, quite accurate was the fact that even really strong couple suffer from fame and image and the frenzy of the paparazzi. Quite accurate was also the fact that young people are sucked into a world they have no idea what to expect and they’re taken advantage off, milked until left dry and an empty shell.

That I loved, I felt the writing was adequate and a certain research was done. I also loved the young love between our boys. The way it started and evolved, the way both of them were so naïve at first but had to quickly grow up years to make up for it. I loved the descriptions and how the author made your mind imagine certain scenes without actually going into it and graphically describing them. The romance and the intensity were there and it was wonderful. It made your heart beat a bit faster and the connection between the pair and reader was easy, despite the double points of view.

Speaking of I really like this writing style, this narrator telling us things from a slight distance. I liked how it was close to our character’s heart and mind yet not too much so that it’d feel as if nothing was left untold. It gave a very nice vibe and it was so, so easy reading it, even if YA is not your thing to read.

Bottom end I loved this story and I certainly recommend anyone to read it. It lacked the usual disturbing sappiness and drama of YA novels (although the media drama was there in abundance) and it made for a very special read.

P.S.: I finally understood the twitter thing… I think… J

Review:  James Alexis Barry better known as Lex (it’s a family name) has always known he was gay. He’s been best friends with his “girlfriend” Amy as long as he can remember. He was a little shorter and a little thicker in high school and was picked on relentlessly by the local homophobic jocks. Ten years later and Lex is not so awkward and pudgy anymore. He’s still living in Rock Bay and dealing with the same assholes he dealt with in school, but he’s made a life and a business with his little coffee shop. And most importantly, Tallis Carrington, the guy that made his teenage life a living hell, is far away in Seattle.

Tallis Carrington, Tally, spent most of his teenage years in the closet. In an effort to make sure that none of his buddies suspected he was gay, he bullied and tormented fellow student “Jamie” (Lex) and made his life a living hell. After his father died and he finally came out to his mother, who then disowned him basically, he moved to Seattle. Now he’s back in Rock Bay, broke and broken. His hometown has not forgotten or forgiven who he was when he was younger and they more than remind him of that fact when he returns. The only person willing to not only give him the time of day, but a job as well, is the enigmatic coffee shop owner Lex.

Tally is instantly pulled toward Lex, but he doesn’t remember who he is. Tally quietly becomes quite attached to Lex and eventually they end up together. But Tally’s old buddies and a hot male nurse, that wants to get to know Lex a little better, are determined that these two don’t get much farther than casual sex. Can Tally prove to Lex and the residents of Rock Bay that he’s a different person? Or will the past put a bridge between these two lovers that can’t be crossed?

I loved the character development between Lex and Tally for the majority of the book. Toward the end, the angst got to be a little much and they lost their way a bit, thankfully O’Shea brought them back full circle in the end. Strong secondary characters added some depth to the story, like Amy, Lex’s best friend, who is actually a lesbian. Mason the hot male nurse that thankfully turns out to like Tally’s old high school buddy Drew more than Lex.

Aside from the angst toward the end, this was a good, solid read. The ending is a little abrupt, but book 2 in the series is ready and waiting! If you are a fan of rocky love stories, characters learning who they are and being true to themselves, and some hot guy on guy action, then I recommend you grab a copy of this one.

Review:  Justin Foster has been abused by his father since he was 12 years old, because of his obvious sexual orientation. Justin never had to come out as gay, as soon as he was old enough to develop a personality everyone just knew. He finally has the opportunity to escape the abuse, hopping the bus to Rock Bay where his cousin lives.

Logan O’Brien has escaped to Rock Bay as well, running from his past, but for an entirely different reason. Logan doesn’t even see Justin, just hears his voice for the first time and he’s a goner. This takes him completely by surprise, since he’s straight. He’s immediately and fiercely protective of Justin as well and the two slowly develop a friendship that eventually grows into an amazing love story. It takes some time though. Justin is skittish around Logan, at first, because he reminds him of the bullies that picked on him back home. Logan takes it one step at a time and earns Justin’s trust. then shows him how wonderful it feels to be loved and be in love.

The story flows well, as it shows the emotional journey both characters have to take in order to be together. They both struggle with a past that they can’t wash away and O’Shea conveyed every emotion flawlessly. Justin was standoffish and wary, but Logan was patient beyond belief. And when these two finally come together, oh my god, but it was hot as hell! Passionate and electric as they explored each other and their relationship.

I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre. Sexy and romantic with just a touch of suspense and that coveted HEA!!

Blurb:   “Daddy” is not a title Rue Murray wanted, but he never thought he’d have sex with a woman either. Now he’s the unwitting father of a newborn named Alice. Between bartending and cosmetology school, Rue doesn’t have time for babies, but he can’t give her up. What Rue needs is a babysitter, and he’s running out of options. He’s on the verge of quitting school to watch Alice himself when he remembers his reclusive new neighbor, Erik.

Erik Van Nuys is a sci-fi novelist with anxiety issues to spare. He doesn’t like people in general, and he likes babies even less. Still, with his royalties dwindling, he could use the extra cash. Reluctantly, he takes on the role of manny—and even more reluctantly, he finds himself falling for Alice and her flamboyant father.

Rue and Erik are as different as two people can be, and Alice is the unlikeliest of babies, but Rue has never been happier than when Alice and Erik are by his side. At least, not until he receives an offer that puts all his dreams within reach and he’s forced to choose: the future he’s always wanted, or the family he thought he never did.

Review:  There are so many things to love about this story. The writing is engaging, simple and effective. The story is sweet. And the characters all made me smile. Particularly Erik, who tries hard to overcome his social awkwardness to help out a neighbor with his child. What a wonderful guy he is! I loved him and his addiction to Star Wars.

The romance was good in the end, but I must admit, I didn’t really feel the love connection between Erik and Rue as much as I did for Erik and Dusty. For a long while there, I was hoping—even though I knew it couldn’t be the case—for these two characters to see how well they fit together. I think partly the reason I felt this way was due to the way Dusty was written. I “felt” him and was more emotionally attached to his backstory than with Erik. I sympathized with him for his unfortunate luck with past romances, and the times when he and Erik were together, I was shown their connection and care for each other, rather than told it, like I felt was the case for Erik and Rue.

Nevertheless, this is a sweet story with a tender heart to it, and it kept me curious and wanting to read on. . . .  And now I want to know that Dusty gets his Happily Ever After too!
