Review: Brian Clifton has been seeing James for several months and over the last two or three months James has been erratic and unavailable. Brian is thinking of dumping him as he believes James is cheating on him. But James is waiting for him when he gets home and needs his help more than ever. James Merrill needs to hide and needs Brian’s help to prove he isn’t a murderer and to catch the ones who are. James always has an excuse for everything and Brian doesn’t know if he can trust James anymore. When the full truth comes out Brian struggles to forgive James for his countless lies.
The storyline is great, the characters are compelling and the grief is heartfelt. This story is fast paced and, honest to God, just when you think you have it all figured out, it throws you a curve ball. We see Brian acknowledge that he has a problem, James not being able to control his addiction and nearly getting everyone in trouble. We have a brilliant plot, some twists, hot sex and betrayal.
We also see Nick and Andrew from Cover Me and we learn more about how they are coping as a couple. Don’t get me wrong, they are written into the story line without taking away from the main characters and it’s fantastically done. They don’t try to take over the story, but blend in beautifully. I have to say L.A. Witt has done what some authors can’t and that’s blending characters from previous books into current books.
This is a brilliantly written story and it has something for everyone, I will recommend this one to everyone.
