Healing Lance
(Warrior’s Redemption 01)
by
M.D. Grimm
A baby’s laughter.
A mind uncaged.
Lance is known as Scourge, the warrior in the black armor, the dog of the warlord Ulfr Blackwolf. He was just a boy when Ulfr found him and molded him into the perfect weapon. He slaughters and pillages on command, merciless and numb, devoid of emotions. Then a baby girl laughs at him during a raid.
And everything changes.
When Gust, a talented healer, is out deer hunting and stumbles across a magnificent horse bearing a mortally wounded rider, he has no idea that his life is about to change forever. Gust applies all his skills to his patient, determined to save the rider’s life, and is rewarded when the man opens his eyes.
As friendship, and more, bloom between warrior and healer, so does the danger over the horizon. Ulfr has not forgotten, and Lance must take his first steps on the long road to redemption.
Blurb: Every story has more than one point of view.
As the mate to the Dark Mage Morgorth, Aishe has learned a lot about magick, love, and himself. He tries to find a home with Morgorth, to be accepted into his world; to survive in a world full of magick, treachery and deception. But all the while he struggles to keep a secret about his past and their intertwined destinies. Despite all the obstacles thrown at both of them, Aishe is determined to stay by Morgorth’s side, no matter what the future brings — even if that future turns dark with death should Morgorth embrace his grim destiny.
But when Morgorth leaves with his mentor to collect another stone of power, Aishe is left behind. It is then that a surprise attack comes and Aishe, determined to protect and defend his new home, decides to take the invaders on by himself. It might prove to be too much for him to handle… especially when he learns the one who leads the invaders is a mage.
The third book in the “Stones of Power” series allows us a glimpse inside the mind of Lord Morgorth’s better half, a dialen named Aishe: his motivations, his personal sorrows, and his struggle to find a place to call home.
Review: I loved Aishe’s point of view as some things that happened in book one by Aishe explained. I love Aishe’ determination to stick with Morgorth no matter what. We get an an inside depth of how Aishe feels and thinks.
Like with the other books conflicts arise and Aishe finds himself in the middle of it trying to protect himself, Morgorth and his new home. There was action, adventure and creatures galore in this amazing addition.
Blurb: Morgorth is considered a villain by his own people and known as the Dark Mage of the North. But now all he feels is light and love as he pursues a budding relationship with Aishe, a dialen of the Ravena tribe. Morgorth hardly believes his good fortune. He has allowed Aishe into his home, into his bed, into his heart. He laughs more, smiles more, and feels happier than he ever has before.
He should have known such bliss never lasts.
The Council of Mages, the ruling body over all mages on Karshian, knows he has Rambujek, a major stone of power—a stone won from an evil sorcerer. They also know his destiny—to become the Destroyer. Fearful, they send two emissaries to take the stone from Morgorth, using whatever means necessary. This includes tricks, threats to those under his protection, and the threat of war. A war Morgorth knows he would never survive.
Conflict soon arises between him and Aishe. Their tenuous relationship is put into jeopardy, their very beliefs about themselves and their love is put into question. Morgorth doubts if he should keep Aishe in his life. He doesn’t know if he can protect Aishe from his enemies. Or from the monster he might become.
Review: Morgorth and Aishe are settling into their lives together and as such we get to see them in more intimate settings. There were a lot of those scenes throughout. Morgorth finds the council of mages wants the ruby stone he took from the mage in the last book and sends mages to get it by trickery, deception and threats. They also fear what Morgorth will become.
We are introduced to even more conflict in this story as Aishe and Morgorths relationship is tested.
I liked the story but at times I felt conflicted with it. I really liked Aishe and Morgorth together as Aishe seemed to ground Morgorth.
Blurb: Lord Morgorth is a dark mage on the planet Karishian. He’s considered a villain by his peers and relishes the title, having embraced the role early in his life. However, not all of his actions are necessarily villainous.
Despite owning several of the Stones of Power—gemstones infused with powerful magick—he doesn’t use them, preferring to keep them hidden away and out of destructive, power-hungry hands. He hates them more than anything. So when a sorcerer gets a hold of a major stone, Morgorth has no choice but to go after him. But, to his irritation, he is not alone. Aishe is a dialen whose tribe was massacred by the sorcerer, and is now on a mission of vengeance. The attraction is instant between them, but Morgorth keeps his distance. Because of a traumatic childhood and a deadly destiny, he has no desire for emotional complications. But Aishe’s very presence challenges Morgorth’s resolve.
Not only does Morgorth admire Aishe’s strength and intelligence, but he begins to see Aishe as a friend. As their hunt continues and their time together lengthens, their bond deepens, as does Morgorth’s fear. If he becomes the monster that destiny claims he will be, will he hurt Aishe? Will he harm the one person who sees right through him? Who accepts him wholeheartedly? Determined to not let that happen, Morgorth keeps Aishe at a distance. But when Aishe is kidnapped by the sorcerer, what will Morgorth do to get him back?
Review: I really enjoyed this action packed adventure about two men who are on the hunt for a mage who has stolen a stone of power and killed many to get it. Morgorth is a dark mage with an abusive past that owns five stones. He does not use them nut keeps them safe from anyone else using them.
I loved the details of this world. The creatures were terrifying in their descriptions, the people were unique and interesting. Aishe is a Dialen, fierce and proud. I admired his determination in seeing justice done for his tribe.
Morgorth learns much about himself in this story. Aishe was good for him in that he brought out a different side of him that he did not know existed. These two faced many dangers throughout and sometimes ended up hurt. I was curious about when Aishe hinted they had met before but the story did not elaborate when or where.

The third book in the “Stones of Power” series allows us a glimpse inside the mind of Lord Morgorth’s better half, a dialen named Aishe: his motivations, his personal sorrows, and his struggle to find a place to call home.
Time travel. For mages, it violates their number one rule: what the Mother has written, let no one unwrite. The Mother writes the destinies of the creatures on the world of Karishian. If her writings were undone, it is feared that Creation itself could be undone. The Dark Mage Morgorth takes this rule to heart, but there are others who do not.
Morgorth is about to claim a stone of power when it is stolen from him by a female mage he hasn’t seen in decades. As they struggle for the stone, she activates it, and Morgorth is unwillingly plunged into another time and another place. It isn’t long before he realizes what time he’s found himself in and there are a few familiar faces.
Most notable is a much younger version of Aishe. His mate.
Living with a tribe who will be massacred, caring for a young lad who will become his mate, and fighting a battle against a mage who can travel from past to future at a whim; Morgorth’s life has never been easy but now he must contend with the will of the Mother. Unable to change the future and the tragedies of Aishe’s life, he must decide what his role in his mate’s past will be, and ask himself one vital question: how does one defeat time?
Those words often invoke a sense of love and comfort. But for the dark mage Morgorth, they mean hate and pain. As the seventh son of a seventh son, many believe Morgorth’s destiny is to become the Destroyer. His father embraced such a future and trained Morgorth through torture and fear to become his weapon. Morgorth managed to escape his father’s cruelty, but not the nightmares that still haunt him. For many years he’s lived with the stain of his father’s savagery, but now he must confront his nightmares head-on.
His father has found a stone of power.
Morgorth must return to his land of birth, to the memories he’s tried his entire life to suppress. Aishe is determined to help Morgorth defeat his inner demons, but he knows he might not be enough to save Morgorth from embracing his darkness. They know it will be a fight to the death and know Morgorth won’t be the same if he survives. With Aishe by his side, Morgorth hunts for his father, and finds answers to questions he never dared to ask—and must live with the truths they reveal.
Lord Morgorth is haunted by dreams of his father. Although Morgorth killed him, his father’s presence and brutality won’t completely die. But now he has more to worry about—in the form of the Council of Mages’ inquiry into the duel between Morgorth and an elder of the council. Morgorth expects sabotage and prepares accordingly. He fears for Aishe’s life, knowing that the best way to sabotage the inquiry is to eliminate the witnesses. He sets into motion a desperate plan that, though it will protect Aishe, could put a strain on their relationship not easily removed.
Yet the true danger lurks unseen, and it will take all of Morgorth’s skill, strength, and devotion to Aishe, to save his mate from the hold of a foe Morgorth has yet to tangle with: a dream demon. Now Morgorth must throw aside caution, restraint, and fear if he is to save the one most dear to him. He must call upon the power of the one thing he hates more than even his father: a stone of power.
But even if he manages to save Aishe, his mate’s experiences in Dreamworld—at the mercy of the dream demon—have changed him forever and could shatter their bond irrevocably.
Lord Morgorth, Dark Mage of the North, has never felt so far away from his precious mate as he does now. Still reeling from the events of a month before, Aishe struggles to come to grips with what the dream demon did to him while pretending to be Morgorth. For his part, Morgorth is haunted by the chilling vision the Mother sent him while he traversed Dreamworld—a vision where he kills the one most precious to him. Due to that knowledge, he knows he must choose his magick or his mate.
A choice with devastating consequences…
When Morgorth goes missing, Aishe must search for him, frightened that he has lost his mage forever. In his heart he knows they were meant for each other and refuses to allow his own horrid memories to tear them apart. But when he finds Morgorth he is stunned to realize that Morgorth doesn’t remember him. In fact, in Morgorth’s mind, he is a young lad named Lazur.
Sometimes the most well-known truth is the greatest lie…
For his entire life, Morgorth always knew his destiny was to become the Destroyer of his home world. His birthright as the third seventh son of a seventh son guaranteed such an outcome. Everyone told him so—except his mentor, Master Ulezander. Morgorth will learn that his mentor has been keeping the greatest secret of all: his true destiny.

On Wings Of Passion
(A Story from the On Wings Saga)
by
M.D. Grimm
Prequel to On Wings of Thunder
Every story has a beginning….
Dragons. Angels fear them and demons follow them. Formidable beasts of incredible power, they fight each other to the death for dominance. But dwindling dragon numbers cause alarm among the angelic ranks. Surely when the dragons have finished killing each other, the victors will search elsewhere for conquest… maybe even the Upper Realm.
Roland, an angelic artist of significant talent, doesn’t know what to believe. Part of him longs to see a dragon in person, and his peaceful life of contentment is wearing thin. He wants passion, desire, adventure, and love. He gets more than he bargained for when he and his sister are ambushed and captured by demons, and they bring him to a creature who surpasses Roland’s wildest imaginings.
But the mighty dragon Asagoroth is not all that he seems. Something sparks between him and Roland. Something neither anticipated. Something that will shake the cosmos to its core.
Blurb: How does a human survive in an alien dominated InterGalactic Community? By becoming an assassin, of course.
At least, that’s what Leopold thought when he became an assassin for the elite. Pretending to be an alien known as Voidstriker, Leopold feeds his appetite for vengeance, killing aliens as well as taking their money. It’s a win-win to his mind. That is, until a bounty is placed upon his head.
With his true identity now revealed to the IG Community, Leopold knows it’s only a matter of time before the powerful family members of his victims come for blood. Far worse is the fact that the one who put the bounty on his head, is the one he most fears.
A routine job three cycles ago brought him face-to-face with Mastrodai, a prince of the powerful Mrrog Nation. Not only did Leopold—accidentally—destroy part of Mastrodai’s moon, but one glimpse of the mighty alien had him feeling desire for the first time in his life. He ran, and like predator after prey, Mastrodai never stopped hunting him.
Leopold is convinced that Mastrodai wants bloody revenge. But when he finally confronts the mrrog, he is stunned to realize Mastrodai wants something very different. Something surprisingly intimate—the one thing that scares Leopold more than torture.
Review: Leopold is a human in an alien world. Since the humans have no home world they are considered slaves as per the intergalactic treaty put in place to protect those that do have a homeworld. I thought this was a little extreme as everyone deserves to have rights. He becomes an assassin and is pretty good at it until he see’s Mastrodai, one of the high lords.
Mastrodai chases after Leopold for a long while until he’s finally captured, then forces him to bond with him. I liked the story but felt certain situations did not match with Leopold’s character and threw me at times. The different species that are introduced are many.
I liked the descriptions of the worlds in which Leopold visited. Each was different and unique though Leopold was not there for very long. All in all I felt that some of the story could have been cut out as it was at times too much information. The sudden switch in timeline was jarring at the beginning. Especially when Zed dies, that came out of nowhere.

Blurb: Agent Poe loves being part of the Agency—an organization devoted to protecting shape-shifters—and he especially loves his mate of only a couple of months, Nordik, the nigh immortal master bear shifter. He has the best of both worlds—the man he loves and the job he loves. But when Nordik reveals he’s ready to rejoin society and accompany Poe on his missions, Poe must take the next step and make them a full partnership.
After the Agency intercepts a message from Arcas, the leader of the Knights of the Dawn—a cult bent on the annihilation of shifters—meant for his followers, their job gets a whole lot harder. The Knights don’t bother keeping their activities hidden anymore, stretching the Agency’s resources thinner than ever.
After a near-fatal mission almost costs Poe his life, Nordik insists on a break for both of them. They visit Poe’s family in Ireland and learn that true danger lies not without, but within. There’s no greater betrayal than that of a loved one.
Review:Each book in The Shifters collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Poe has been apart of the Agency since the beginning it seems. He has fought the darkest of evil to keep all safe from harm. His mate is a master bear shifter by the name of Nordik, a man he loves with all of his heart. A man he wants to protect, but the war to keep the shifters safe is heating up. Now they must combine the Agency and shifters alike to keep all alive.
The problem is Poe is slowly burning out, especially with the latest injury and is forced to go on vacation with his mate. A vacation to see the family back in Ireland. It also leads them right into danger once more, and a deception within the family. It seems Arcas, the leader of the Knights of the Dawn, has stepped up his game and his recruits follow him till the end.
M.D. Grimm’s stories seem more like mystic tales to me. It is a very fascinating world of good versus evil, and so far evil is winning. The characters are fully developed and are quite interesting to hear about. I will have to say to follow the story one must definitely start with the first book. Even with time going past, I still got a bit lost for a moment there. This is one of those stories you would probably want to read back to back.
I first read this author’s work as it so happens with the first book in this series. It has a dark tone to it, but you can find just a hint of humor mixed in. I will admit that this is not a series that is memorable to me though. Not to say I don’t love the story, it is just that I had not remembered it, until I read a bit into it. I can’t say I have a favorite character yet, but the guys do pull you into their world pretty easy. It has some pretty wicked twists and turns to it that will definitely keep your interest.
I enjoyed reading it and can imagine you will also.
Blurb: Trystan is an unchosen angel—shunned by society, bullied, and without a future. In a hidden well, Trystan discovers a carving of a dragon, who were once the commanders of demons and now believed extinct. But Trystan learns the carving doesn’t depict an ordinary dragon. Stories tell that millennia ago, the great dragon Asagoroth and his demon army nearly conquered the three realms but was killed by the five elders. The powerful angels combined their life forces to cast a spell, sacrificing their lives.
But history is full of falsehoods. The five elders only managed to imprison the dragon, and Asagoroth had cast his own spell—one of releasement. It only needs the blood of an angel to liberate him from his cage….
Asagoroth, enemy of angels, conqueror of realms, is free. But even as the angels prepare for war, the great dragon surprises them with an ultimatum: hand over the angel who awakened him or face annihilation.
Review: I really enjoyed reading about Trystan and Asagoroth. It was different and intriguing the way the author blended the old with the new. Trystan is an unchosen angel shunned and bullied which severely pissed me off as if he can help the way he was born. During one instance of bullying he accidentally finds a carving of a dragon.
Every day he is drawn back to the carving by some invisible force. He researches the archives and discovers a tome that has the answers he seeks. Asagoroth was both terrifying and sexy. Terrifying because of his determination to have the angel no matter the cost and lengths he will go to keep him safe from others. It broke my heart all that Asagoroth has suffered especially losing the one he loved a millennium ago.
I found the part in the story about a secret book of the angels and demons fascinating. It made sense though that could be a possibility as everything has two sides.
Brilliantly written, action packed, mysterious, suspenseful and romantic this book will grab your attention from the start and not let go until the very end.
Title: Shifting Moon Series: The Shifters, #10 Author: M.D. Grimm Genre: Paranormal Length: Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (April 6, 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts Blurb: After a year together, wolf shifter Derek Williams and vet Brian O’Donogue decide to marry. All Brian wants is to be legally part of Derek’s family, after his own disowned him for being gay. As far as Derek is concerned, he already belongs to his mate, heart, body, and soul. But their plans are put on hold when Derek discovers an injured young shifter, Tommy, one night while running as a wolf.
When they learn the truth behind Tommy’s presence in Washington, they are quickly drawn into a war that has waged in the shadows for decades. Brian, Derek, and their allies must fight against the Knights and their leader, Arcas, to prevent them from attaining an ancient scroll, one piece of a weapon that can destroy all shifters.
Review:Each book in The Shifters collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
M.D. Grimm has a way of giving you a world that will not only freak you out, spook you but will have you wanting to be right there in the middle of it.
The scrolls are supposed to not only control shifters but destroy them. Bird shifters had at one time been the protectors until one passed and the other one wanted to be with his mate. So when the time came he put his trust into a master shifter to protect theme when they sank to the bottom of the ocean due to an accident. This was many years ago, until now when they are being hunted down.
The evil one that had been just an unborn child has now gained much power and is on the search. He sends his lover Gregor to retrieve one of the scrolls. However, Gregor has come across a wolf shifter and his mate. A mate that could talk and comfort animals. All Derek and Brian wanted to do was to get married. Now they must help a young shifter get the scrolls back. They had to stop the Knights and Acras their leader.
Once again this author has given me a hit. I had a lot of fun reading this and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. It has a lot of depth to it and I was captivated from the start. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I would definitely recommend this story.

Title: Predator and Prey Series: The Shifters #9 Author: M.D. Grimm Genre: Paranormal Romantic Suspense Length: 107 pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (January 13, 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts Blurb: Vietnam War vet turned deep-sea treasure hunter Digger Sullivan scratches out a living, and this new commission is just another job—albeit an exciting one—off the Florida coast in 1977. But while exploring the area, Digger and his crew encounter a lot more sharks than they expected.
Reef and his shark shifter clan are charged with protecting a vital, magical secret—two of four scrolls that, when brought together, could annihilate shifters across the world. But Reef can’t keep his head in the game around this intriguing diver, and it’s not long before Digger takes one of the scrolls topside. Reef now has two missions: seduce Digger and recapture the scroll. Despite his attraction to Digger, Reef’s priority must be reclaiming the scroll.
But when Reef’s true identity is exposed, Digger is scared and appalled and rejects him.
Yet Digger might change his mind when his crew is captured by the very person who commissioned them, and Reef and his shark clan are the only things standing between them and death.
Review: I love the way this author can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. This is the only series that I have read by this author that I have read and I can tell you that M.D. Grimm’s books will go in my automatic favorite pile.
Although I must admit sharks are not one of my favorite creatures but then again I watched all of the Jaw’s movies. There are scrolls left in the ocean to be guarded by the shark shifters. They had been once placed in a falcon’s hands to keep safe, but when his mated died he wanted to follow.
Then the ship taking him across the ocean crashed and his scrolls were at the bottom of the ocean. The shark promised to keep them safe. It was now Reef’s duty to protect them. However he wants a human time too, but when a group of humans start searching he finds himself attracted to the captain.
Digger was a war vet who had decided that the ocean was his life now. He had expected to find treasures and sharks but not shark shifters. He was slowly falling in love with Reef, but Reef was keeping secrets. When the ship is attacked, Reef shows him who he truly is and Digger reacted as a human would. After some time, he knew he had to fix what he had done.
I can honestly tell you that this is going to be one of those types of series that you can’t put down and have to read more than once. It is the perfect story for me and gave me all that I needed. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. I had a blast reading it and I can’t wait to read the next story.

Blurb: Three days after the Agency infiltrated the headquarters of the Knights, an organization that killed, tortured, and experimented on shifters, Chief Anu sends Agent Poe on assignment: find Nordik, the powerful bear shifter who controls Sanctuary, and offer alliance. Agent Poe already has his hands full with shifters who need help and a kidnapped agent who needs rescue. Poe has never failed a mission, but he finds members of the Knights who escaped the raid inside Sanctuary, raising suspicions about Chief Anu. Poe’s goals change once more when he discovers he and Nordik have a mutual attraction they can’t resist. Keeping shifters safe becomes more complicated, and more important, than ever.
Review:This story is part of a series and is best read in order. When agent Poe is removed from the case of searching for a missing aide and told to track down an elusive Master Shifter his suspicions of Chief Anu begin to rise higher. Unable to do anything else he sets off on what he thinks is a pointless task, but when he begins searching Sanctuary he discovers that the Knights are also there. When Poe finally comes across the Master Shifter Nordik his attraction to the shifter has him fighting to ignore it, but it’s an attraction that can’t be ignored. Poe has choices to make, his Chief can’t be trusted and Nordik is targeted by the Knights; keeping the shifter safe becomes Poe’s number one priority but can he really not complete his mission when he has never failed before?
This story is a great continuation of The Shifters series and coincides with the events in Healing Minds. We have heard Agent Poe mentioned many times in previous books and he is the Agent all aides want to be, and now, we get to witness his story as Arcas and the Knights move forward with their agenda. Poe is a brilliant character who finds himself torn between his life with the Agency and the promise of love with a shifter. It is far from an easy path that Poe is drawn to, as the Agency’s policy on Agent’s and relationships is clear-cut but how can he choose between the love he is offered and his loyalty to the Agency? Nordik has had many mates through his long life but he has finally found his soul-mate, convincing the man of that though is nigh on impossible, but he also has to worry about the Knights in his sanctuary picking off the shifters.
I loved this story as we finally get to meet Poe properly and what drives him in his quest to help shifters, but we also discover that things are much more complicated in the background of the origin of the Knights. Poe really is an outstanding character, his loyalty to the Agency is unquestionably strong but even he isn’t blind to what may be a mole in the Agency. Nordik is a Master Shifter older and nigh on impossible to kill, he has ‘been there and done that‘ when it comes to trusting governments and their broken treaties but for the chance with Poe he will consider an alliance. Nordik and Poe certainly have their ups and downs but boy are they steamy together, with the Agency on one side and the Knights on the other it doesn’t look likely that either of them will come out unscathed.
The storyline is brilliant and we begin to see changes in the Agency as the truth about Chief Anu is revealed, the characters are great as both men want to protect the other and there is plenty enough action and danger to quench a bloodthirsty gals needs. We also discover Arcas’ plans are much more involved than just wiping out the shifters one by one, something is brewing in the background and it only adds to the thrill of the chase.
I recommend this to those who love powerful shifters, danger, unraveling secrets, finding love, hot explosive sex, being torn between duty and love, finding solutions and an ending that drives your imagination and curiosity through the roof.
Blurb: Josh McPhee always wanted to be an agent. To keep from going crazy at the Agency’s New Mexico substation, he talks to the imprisoned wolf shifter—or tries to. Their one-sided conversations only prove the shifter is not getting the help he needs. After all, he is a victim too.
Wolf shifter Xavier doesn’t remember much before his time with the Knights or the time under their control, where he was brainwashed and used to kill innocent shifters. He wants to recover his memories, and yet he fears what he might find. He would escape were it not for the aide whose voice quiets Xavier’s implanted urges.
Late one night the Knights attack the station to retrieve what’s theirs. Overpowered, Josh cannot stop them before they unlock Xavier’s cage. But Xavier rushes to Josh’s rescue and, sensing his opportunity, escapes, taking Josh with him. When Josh wakes up on the road, they strike a bargain: Josh offers Xavier one month of freedom before he calls in the Agency. Both doubt he can be cured, but something about Josh makes Xavier better. They just have to figure out what before the past catches up to them.
Review:This story is part of a series and can be read as a standalone, but is best read in order. Josh has always wanted to be an agent, but he is stuck as an aide in the Agency’s New Mexico substation. He spends his days talking to the wolf shifter, who was captured a year ago, but never getting any response. Josh is left alone and just making a breakthrough with the wolf, when the Knights attack to retrieve their property. Josh won’t let them get the wolf without a fight. Xavier doesn’t remember much and he wants to know everything that has happened to him, and whose voice is urging him to kill? Josh is Xavier’s lifeline. His voice drowns out the other voice’s urgings to kill. So when the Knights attack, Xavier protects the only one who can help him. Xavier and Josh come to an agreement, for one month Josh will help Xavier to try to overcome the voice before he calls the Agency.
This is a great addition to The Shifter series. Josh wants to be an agent more than anything else. When he develops a connection with the wolf shifter, Xavier, he jumps at the chance to help him and to further his own chances with the Agency. Xavier just wants to know what was done to him and to stop the voice in his head. Josh is the only thing that stops the urges and now Xavier needs Josh’s help and forces Josh to come with him. Xavier wants more from Josh than just his help; he wants his body as well. But, Josh can’t be involved with a shifter, not if he wants to be an agent. no matter how much he might want the sexy shifter.
I really enjoyed this story and how it showed Xavier’s trust in Josh being built over time and Xavier’s reliance on Josh to keep him calm. And, Josh’s determination that Xavier could be coaxed as he becomes uncontrollable and his trust that Xavier wouldn’t hurt him. Josh is caught in the middle though, when it comes to what he wants. The Agency took him in and has given him a sort of family and he wants nothing more than to become an agent. But, Josh is drawn to Xavier and the Agency has strict rules concerning interaction with shifters. If he gives into his attraction to Xavier, he will lose the Agency. So we see his struggle as he weighs up what he truly desires. With Xavier, you see his soul-searing pain as he remembers what was done to him and what he was forced to do. His guilt is palpable, you can feel his need for revenge, and it is only his love for Josh that stops him.
I found this story to be enjoyable and we see characters from previous books. It was nice to see them again and they did add a bit to the story. We get some great action and danger as the Knights are determined to get Xavier back. and Josh’s and Xavier’s love is truly tested when the owner of the voice tracks them down. I am beginning to get a healthy dislike for the Agency, because of what it expects from its workers. during this story I got the feeling that their purpose was more to thwart the Knights than any true desire to help shifters.
I recommend this to those who love shifters with problems, danger, trust, love, choosing the right path, hot sex and a happy ending.
Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts– OMG (I would prefer to give it a higher rating to be honest.)
Blurb: Orphan Hunter Landon craves a family who will love him unconditionally. When he’s adopted by the Knights, an organization dedicated to destroying shifters, Hunter is grateful, but their ideology never sits right. Finally, on a rite of passage during which he’s supposed to kill his first shifter, Hunter discovers the truth: he meets Glenn Lightfoot, a deer shifter, and asks a lot of questions.
Glenn hates the Knights and worries about the safety of his herd with one in their midst. After all, the Knights have hurt his family before. On the other hand, this is his chance to convert an enemy, and some instinct tells him Hunter won’t betray him.
Soon Hunter sees the Knights for the monsters they are. When his time is up, he leaves the herd to protect Glenn. But Glenn is determined not to lose the man he has come to love and respect to the Knights’ cruel campaign.
Review: Shitfire and Holy Hell! Started out a little slow, but got faster paced and continued to build in pace, then BOOM! Left you wanting to strangle the author (but only because I now have to wait for the next book) and now I am left with one question; where is number five in the series woman?? This book was done so wonderfully well and there was a slight resemblance to the mission of the Knights in this book as follows with the Paladins from the movie “Jumper” but just slight. I personally wanted to take Glenn in my own arms and ravage the man from head to toe. Deer shifter and Knight falling in love with one another, then in a twist from most stories, it is the Knight that needs rescuing by a deer. It was beautiful and totally unexpected. I hope you are hard at work on the next one because I am ready myself to see the Knights ripped apart finally and I want to know who their foul leader is. COME ON! HURRY!
Blurb: Humane Officer Derek Williams has been toying with the idea of asking out Brian O’Donogue since the veterinarian started working at the Pet Rescue Center two years ago. So why hasn’t he made his move? It’s complicated… but it has something to do with the fact that Derek occasionally likes to run around on four legs instead of two.
Recovering from an abusive relationship and hiding supernatural abilities of his own, Brian takes a chance and agrees to go on a date with Derek. The ensuing relationship is better than either of them could have hoped—until a rogue wolf shifter attacks Brian while he’s walking his dogs. The abrupt attack forces Derek to confront his feelings, but the danger isn’t over. The rogue shifter is out there, and he’s hunting them.
Review: I found this book a refreshing change from other books in this Genre, Derek Williams and Brian O’Donogue have worked side by side for two years both of them secretly wanting the other, neither has dared as they both have secrets. Both these men love animals dearly with Derek rescuing them and feeling anger and pain at the cruelty of humans to the defenseless animals. Wishing that he could treat the humans who did the cruelty, the same as they treated the animals. Brian handling them with love, care and gentle hands as he treats them.
You can see the great respect that these two men have for each other and how it has built up over time into love. These two men seem to be perfect for each other and I’d have to say that this is a genuine romance with a little bit of danger thrown in.
If you want a shifter story where it’s not insta mates, insta love and insta sex then this is the book for you, it has a good solid storyline throughout (although I would have liked to know why the rogue’s scent was familiar to Derek) and the sex is hot.
I genuinely liked this book and would recommend it to all my friends.
