At first his suspicions seem to be confirmed, but clues come to light that suggest all is not as it appears at Maybury Hall.

As the mystery deepens, so does the attraction between the two implacable enemies. Each has reasons not to trust the other, but neither is averse to a bit of kinky play. Gideon and Michael end up owing each other their lives, and it results in consequences neither could have imagined.

I’m really excited about the cover reveal for Gideon. This is the first time I’ve written about a hero who was a seriously bad lad and I think that comes through loud and clear on the cover. He’s sexy, a handsome devil, rich, powerful, and wicked to the core. But Gideon Maybury, Duke of Westmoreland is complex too, something of a tortured soul and he does have his softer side though he usually manages to keep it well hidden. The art team at Dreamspinner Press have done a wonderful job of capturing just the right mood of darkness and intrigue.

The book releases on 5 October and I hope readers will come to love Gideon as much as I do.

Excerpt

Michael met Gideon’s gaze and held it. That was it. He could stay, or he could leave. Gideon was not going to push the matter, but the invitation was clear. Michael took another drink and set the can down on the dresser beside him. “I’m in no hurry.”

“Good.” Gideon’s tone had softened, and his eyes were darker. He stepped forward to cradle Michael’s face between his palms. “I’m going to kiss you.”

Fair warning, for the avoidance of doubt….

“You’re taking your time….”

Gideon’s lips quirked as he closed the final couple of feet between them and slanted his mouth over Michael’s.

The kiss was light, undemanding, and somewhat on the polite side, in Michael’s view. It was not what he was after. He wrapped his arms around Gideon’s shoulders and parted his lips.

Gideon was not slow to respond and darted his tongue into Michael’s mouth to stroke and explore. He was gentler than Michael expected—tentative almost—as though still testing his man’s reaction.

Michael broke the kiss briefly. “For fuck’s sake….” He turned so Gideon’s shoulders were against the door and pressed his body up close. Then it was Michael who initiated the kiss and more besides. He slid his hands under Gideon’s T-shirt and ran his fingertips up his naked back.

Gideon hissed his approval and reached for the button on Michael’s jeans. “I top,” he growled.

“Me too,” murmured Michael as he dragged the T-shirt up and over Gideon’s head. “Do I fight you for it?”

“If you want. I’ll win.”

Michael wasn’t so sure he would, but he opted for a more flexible approach. “You first, then.”

“Done.” Gideon was on the offensive again. He walked forward and backed Michael toward the bed.

By the time they reached the emperor-sized divan, both T-shirts were on the carpet. Gideon paused to toe off his trainers and then shoved Michael onto the bed. Michael sprawled on his back, his grin one of both invitation and challenge. Gideon might be a mean son of a bitch, but that was no impediment to a decent fuck.

Gideon followed him down, and Michael barely had time to drag in his next breath before Gideon’s lips were sealed over his again. They rolled across the mattress and each worked to get rid of their jeans and underwear. They managed it in seconds flat, and Michael reached for Gideon’s cock. He remembered the outline well. He had made a reasonable enough study of it at their first meeting, but the reality of that thick, solid erection grasped in his fist was something else again.

Gideon groaned and rolled to his back as Michael pumped his hand up and down the shaft. “Suck me,” he ordered.
