 Black Dog Blues

 ((2nd Edition)
 (Kai Gracen 01)
 by

Rhys Ford

Ever since being part of the pot in a high-stakes poker game, elfin outcast Kai Gracen figures he used up his good karma when Dempsey, a human Stalker, won the hand and took him in. Following the violent merge of Earth and Underhill, the human and elfin races are left with a messy, monster-ridden world, and Stalkers are the only cavalry willing to ride to someone’s rescue when something shadowy appears.

It’s a hard life but one Kai likes—filled with bounty, a few friends, and most importantly, no other elfin around to remind him of his past. And killing monsters is easy. Especially since he’s one himself.

But when a sidhe lord named Ryder arrives in San Diego, Kai is conscripted to do a job for Ryder’s fledgling Dawn Court. It’s supposed to be a simple run up the coast during dragon-mating season to retrieve a pregnant human woman seeking sanctuary. Easy, quick, and best of all, profitable. But Kai ends up in the middle of a deadly bloodline feud he has no hope of escaping.

No one ever got rich being a Stalker. But then few of them got old either and it doesn’t look like Kai will be the exception.

Review: This is the second book in the Hollywood Hotties series. However, concentrating on a new couple, the previous main characters from book 1 are only briefly mentioned a few times. Also one of the minor characters of book 1 got another brief cameo (for lack of another word) in this too.

Both Cree and Evan are interesting characters, although I think they suffered from lack of development. Or in the case of Evan, he has a sudden epiphany and I felt like there was something missing in between. Neither does he come across as the most likable or relatable or logical type of guy. However, one thing is for sure, both these guys wear masks and it would have been cool if we could have had more into this. Cree acts cold and distant when he is anything but.

Evan, on the other hand, paints everyone involved in Hollywood/movies with the same brush (from past experience). Evan’s hang up is understandable, but the reader simply doesn’t get too many details.

Upon reflection, my issues with the book come down to two factors. One, what I feel to be a lack of explanation of their back stories, and two, everything exploded between these guys in less than a month. I found it hard to quite believe it. If it had been over, say, three or six months, I wouldn’t have so many hang-ups as I do. The latter also feeds into Evan’s family storyline, which is the cause of a majority of the drama.

Despite all that, this is somewhat cute and sweet, just like the first book. However, it wasn’t quite as emotive so that I could drool over the sugar sweetness of the couple. I liked the simple plot, but as you can see from above, I feel that the pace of the book and the time frame in the book took away from my enjoyment when I was hoping to find an enchanting, Cinderella type Hollywood romance.

If you don’t overanalyse plots, like I tend to do, it’s probably even more enjoyable.

Blurb: In the hour of the wolf, the dark moon rises…and the night comes alive.

Eire is a land of gold and bronze, bought with fire and blood. Yet for thirty years, there has been peace in the name of the High King. Now, his quest for immortality has unleashed Crom Cruach, the bent one, Crooked King of the void.

The faoladh, wolf-protectors of man, have sought to suppress those that would bring Crom Cruach into the world. It is Marcas, one of those wolves, who will confront darkness in the name of duty—and beside him, Connor, prince of Connacht.

Connor is a wounded warrior, marked with brightness to foil the dark—a mark that means Marcas must protect him. Yet the longer Marcas spends at Connor’s side, the more he finds himself wanting Connor for his own, and from the moment Marcas shows himself to Connor as a man, not a wolf, the attraction between them is obvious.

Connor wants just what Marcas wants, if only he can convince him of that in time, but the same question is before each of them, waiting to be answered. Which must they serve—love or duty? For Marcas, the weight of his service may prove too much—a deadly burden. For Connor, only son of a king, even victory may have its price in separation.

In the end, it may not matter either way. The shadow is already moving…

Review: Marcas is a guardian wolf bound to his wolf form for seven years, which I found intriguing, as I’ve never read a shifter story where the person couldn’t shift from the beginning. His job is to protect certain humans from an ancient evil, Com Cruach. Conner is one such human thatMarcus is to protect at all costs. Well written.

This book is a good story. However, it is confusing at times. Danger all throughout. Marcas ends up falling for Conner. When his seven years is up and he reverts to human form he is free to be with Conner but his duty is not yet done.
Intense, heart stopping scenes as well as tender moments between Conner and Marcus.

Good versus evil seems to be the theme throughout this story with battles that are bloody and a ritual of sacrifice that lets the evil that confined free to wreak havoc on the world.

Good read.

Review: Andy Slater wants to have it all. Marriage, kids, white picket fence, that is perfection in his mind. Until the day he sees a man on the L train, and everything changes. Thirty years later, he is a divorced dad that has finally accepted the fact that he is gay and that is okay, but the one that got away still occupies his thoughts every day.

Carlos Castillo was hurt when Andy rebuffed him after being so close to claiming him. One phone call completely derailed their would be romance. Thirty years later, he is still nursing a slightly broken heart over the loss of his long-term lover to cancer when another chance encounter brings Andy back into his life.

Life is what you make it, but there are these teensy occasions called fate and destiny that can change everyone’s course somewhere along the way. Call it fate or call it destiny, Andy has found his way back to Carlos after three decades apart. But life has changed them both. Andy isn’t the confused young man he was back then, and Carlos still aches from the loss he experienced. Can they finally be happy together? Or does life have other plans for these two?

The story is told from alternating perspectives, Andy and Carlos, and it is also told over a span of thirty something years. From that first glance on the train through all of life’s ups and downs for these two men. I admit I got confused several times throughout the story with the time jumps, and the flow wasn’t always steady. And while I could almost feel Carlos as a person, his story really pulled me in and I was always engrossed while he was narrating, I didn’t feel a connection with Andy overall.

This was just an okay read for me. I do think readers that enjoy stories where their characters never give up on their happiness will really like this one.

Reviewer: Tams

Review: Eric Walker didn’t make the greatest impression on readers in the first book in this series, The Way Back, as the man who would steal his brother’s boyfriend all in an effort to “find himself.” I didn’t start this book having the highest expectations for the character, and straight away, you learn that his love interest at the end of that story, Mitch, has left him. I was like, well score one for Karma! But then Eric had to go and make himself relatable, loveable and attainable, he had to go and redeem himself.

Eric is now managing the gay bar Mo’s and has become a father figure of sorts to some of the younger employees there. Friend, co-worker and star of the show, Queen Johnny, keeps setting Eric up on the most hysterically disastrous blind dates. And Eric is clueless, he just keeps putting up a minimal fight, then caving and going on the dates. Until the night, he shows up and it’s Johnny on the other side of the booth. Suddenly Eric sees Johnny in a new light. He realizes that it’s been Johnny all along.

But if it’s Johnny then Eric has finally found happiness and the minute Eric lets himself be happy, lets his guard down, and assumes his emotions, his heart is safe, he gets hurt. So he damn near breaks the foundation of the relationship before it’s even solidified in an effort to get ahead of being hurt. If Eric admits how he feels about Johnny, then he has to admit to the failures of his past, and that might be more than our newfound hero is capable of.

Eric is like a flame, he burns hot and fast and his emotions are explosive. Johnny is like Rain, a steady flowing current that grounds Eric and shows him he deserves to be loved. The two sort of balance each other out. I am always amazed when an author can take a character that is hated or loathed entirely and make them do a complete 180, make them someone you are now rooting for. That is exactly what Quinn has done with Eric.

One of my favorite parts of this story was the conversation Eric had with his brother Jason when he finally swallowed his pride and approached Jason, asking for that forgiveness.
Oh but the fiery passion that Eric and Johnny share was a strong element to this story as well.

Eric has to let go of this notion he has of a the perfect soul mate, he has to get over Riley and Mitch and his ex-wife and the feeling that he has been wronged in some way before he can finally see Johnny through the eyes Johnny deserves to be loved through. And Johnny’s ever-present strength, even in the face of Eric’s denial and while always impeccable dressed and sporting 5-inch heels, well it was impressive.

Detailed, descriptive and precise with three-dimensional, flawed characters and strong secondary characters to add depth to the story. Fire and Rain is a must read if you are a fan of hard-fought happy ever afters. And if you, like me, absolutely loathed Eric after reading The Way Back, then you have to at least give him a chance at redemption by reading this follow-up novel.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order. Features characters from the series The Angel Pack.

Dale has never had a good life, until he came to the Angel Pack to spy on them for his father and sister. Which made all the things he did to them that much worse for Dale. The guilt was slowly eating him alive. When he has finally has come to a decision to end his life he meets two men who claim to be his mates. But even than things are far from perfect.

Dare… I did not like him for a good part of the book. He was an emotional wasteland. Of course there are reasons, but still until they are revealed he sucked as a mate. He was distant, uncaring, and just a plan asshole to both his mates, but Dale most of all. He was not understanding of Dale’s needs, and he didn’t really care until he almost lost it all and had faced up. Once that happened, he actually became the mate that both Dale and Dante needed.

Dante is the Prince of the vampires. He is also the rock of the relationship between the three of them. He was understanding and caring of Dale. He took the time even with all that was going on to spend time with Dale and show him that he deserved to be happy. When push came to shove, he was willing to send Dare away in order to make Dale’s life easier and happy. Dante was also not afraid to kick ass when needed. But he could also being very kind and loving.

The book did mostly revolve around the mating issues of Dale, Dare, and Dante, but a whole hell of a lot about the ongoing issues with the rogues was revealed. There is some serious bad shit coming from the looks of it and I can’t wait to read more from both this series and the Angel Pack series. Also, the secrets that were revealed kind of surprised me.

This book was fast paced and the hits kept on coming. New characters of paranormals are introduced, and damn the history behind that is sure to be interesting. I am really digging the world Maggie Walsh has created and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Review: This little story is about how Trey and Lucien first meet and start a relationship. Lucien is a fan of Trey’s books and goes to a books signing. The attraction they feel for each other is there from the start. Trey is cautious and agrees to meet for coffee at his local coffee-house. From there things get wicked sexy when they get back to Trey’s home. There are minor BDSM themes in this book. But there is a definite kink factor that they both share that was pretty hot.

What I really liked about it was that Lucien took the time to learn the different needs Trey had. Because Trey is blind, he needed touch and voice to feel more comfortable with what was happening. Lucien was turned off that Trey was blind and didn’t really treat him any different.

I look forward t o reading more about Trey and Lucien. I liked both MCs and enjoyed this little story. The two of them are really hot together with a side of sweet.

Review: This is part of the Amethyst Cove series by KC Kendricks and Christiane France. It is a standalone and to be honest, I want to go and get the other books now.

Although the reader gets a very adequate explanation as to the events of the previous book(s), I really need t read it for myself! If you look up Amethyst Cove series, what it actually is that KC Kendricks writes about PI Ian Coulter, while Christiane France writes about PI Greg Stewartson. Ian and Greg are actually in business together too, so he has a quick mention here in Ace Deuce Trey. This is also the third book to feature Ian… so maybe I have missed out a lot and would love him even more!

This is an intricate and complex plot. With a PI who has a FBI agent for a boyfriend, you know that there is going to be crime and mystery woven through the plot. Rick Mohr, Ian’s FBI agent boyfriend, is rather insecure, for good reason, of his relationship with Ian, but it lovely to see how his character begins to overcome his insecurities and jealousies for something, to someone who hasn’t read the previous books, didn’t seem like the fault of anyone in particular.

I loved seeing the development of their romantic relationship because even though they are together they really are at the beginning of their grand romance. These guys are good at what they do and extremely professional. It was good to that they were written that they could work and be serious together without things devolving into sex each time (not a fan of stories like that, clearly).

The two important minor characters in this are movie star, Saylor Blackwood – Ian’s client. As well as Ian’s assistant, Sheldon. Sheldon, or Shelly, is an absolute sweetheart. Androgynous appearance and young, he seems so innocent and enthusiastic in his passions and his work… and I just want to hug him, pity he’s a character and gay.

It is through the friendship with Ian and Sheldon that we also see just how much a fantastic and protective friend Ian is. Saylor, he’s an interesting kind of guy, he’s not really into the relationship-thing, but he seems kind and caring. However, Ian’s car also seems like a character in itself, a Barracuda.

This was hard not to enjoy. In fact, it was hard to put down at all. I found myself sneaking to my tablet to catch a few pages when I could. The mystery adds a bit of thrill and danger and the romance is sweet.

Review: David is an aspiring author who just wanted his crime novel published. After talking to one publisher, he was ready to throw in the rug. Deciding to go get ice cream, he finds a very drunk clown.

Stan is a clown, who goes to children’s parties and cheers them up. After one such gig, he came home to find his now ex-boy friend and best friend screwing in their bed. Now they both just need a little cheering up, some ice cream and some hot sex.

This is a cute little story that was a blast to read. I mean I felt bad about their bit of pain, but instead I found myself laughing my ass off. These two are just so perfect together. Stan is a gorgeous young man, who has one hell of a quirky attitude that usually one would just want to shoot. Shoot in a good way, because you can’t help but love him.

As for David, he is just downright adorable and it turns out that he has just a bit of kink to him. He likes the bossiness from Stan.

Once these two get together, you can just see the heat coming off of them. I had such a blast reading this, even though it was missing something major for me to love. I can’t wait to see what other stories Sue has written. There is just a flare to this story that will draw you in. The title itself is a kick. I think it was the title that actually caught my attention from the start.

I would recommend reading this story. I think you will have a blast with it also.

Jones struggles to gasp for air in a dying city that’s sinking fast and pulling him under with wave after wave of addiction and betrayal.

Falling for a loveless man is enough to bring someone as strong as Jones to his knees. Will Jones ever be able to reach into Carver’s chest and bring his cold heart to life?

Review: Jones is part of a team in ENAD, Enforced Necessary Arms Division. He has been enhanced for strength, speed and anything else to help him in his missions. He has been out of the loop for years due to not completing the last mission his team was sent on. He has finally been called back into service only to discover that the man he was once in love with is the leader of the team.

This division was created to do the dirty work of the higher-ups wanting to keep their hands clean in my opinion. Carver seemed cold at first, though I could understand to a point as he’s been modified as well and deemed one of the best. Intense, gritty scenes leave you holding your breath for the outcome.

Although I’m not used to this type of story per se I found it intriguing and fascinating. This story keeps your attention from the beginning. I was impressed with the details of the technology in the story. Well written.

Great read.

Captain Hugh Wilkes is on his last tour of duty in Afghanistan. The British Army is withdrawing, and Wilkes expects his posting to be event-free. That is, until he meets his Afghan interpreter, Rustam Balkhi, who awakens desires in Wilkes that he’d almost forgotten about, and that won’t be ignored.

Review: This was an interesting and original little story, well researched and very well written.

British Army officer Wilkes is on his last tour in Afghanistan, only six months of hellish heat and sandy nightmare before he gets to return home. Wilkes is gay and closeted and he’s determined to stay that way; but things get complicated when he meets his Afghan interpreter, Rustam. Rustam is good-looking, and Wilkes finds himself extremely attracted to the young man.

After weeks of fantasies Wilkes has about Rustam, they finally give into their attraction. Their jobs and religions are some major hurdles they would have to overcome if they want to be together.

I’m not a fan of love when it’s happening too fast. I didn’t really believe in the feelings that both Rustam and Wilkes developed for each other; I honestly don’t see how they got to that point after only working together for a short amount of time and not having any interactions in their free time.

I couldn’t even detect any chemistry between them at all. I get that their circumstances and the forbidden element made their attraction all the more intense, but I just didn’t get a feel for them as a couple.

The ending made sense, happy for now is all you can dream of when you’re in their situation. I would have liked an epilogue, anything to get an idea if they made it out of there safely; their story feels incomplete to me.

A more than professional interest . . . a more than personal intrigue.

Orlando Coppersmith should be happy. WWI is almost a year in the past, he’s back at St. Bride’s College in Cambridge, his lover and best friend Jonty Stewart is at his side again, and—to top it all—he’s about to be made Forster Professor of Applied Mathematics. And although he and Jonty have precious little time for an investigative commission, they can’t resist a suspected murder case that must be solved in a month so a clergyman can claim his rightful inheritance.

But the courses of scholarship, true love, and amateur detecting never did run smooth. Orlando’s inaugural lecture proves almost impossible to write. A plagiarism case he’s adjudicating on turns nasty with a threat of blackmail against him and Jonty. And the murder investigation turns up too many leads and too little hard evidence.

Orlando and Jonty may be facing their first failure as amateur detectives, and the ruin of their professional and private reputations. Brains, brawn, the pleasures of the double bed—they’ll need them all to lay their problems to rest.

Blurb: The Royal Navy meets the Stately English Manor Murder Mystery, and if it were only a matter of Colonel Mustard in the library, things would be so much easier.

After an ambush by the French while on a routine surveillance mission, Will Marshall and David Archer are advised to retreat to the English countryside to avoid Bonaparte’s animosity for a time. Upon their arrival, they discover that David’s eldest brother has died after a mysterious accident and this puts his other, very unsuitable brother in line for the title.

David’s suspicions—that the new heir had a hand in his brother’s death—seem so unreasonable that even Will finds it difficult to believe his fears are valid. If Davy thought his lover was hard to convince, his autocratic father, who still sees him as the inept youngest son, won’t even listen to him. Davy and Will are thrust into the role of sleuths, trying to determine the truth behind the mystery.

All the while Will has concerns of his own: his fear of losing Davy is still stronger than his desire to keep Davy beside him on the quarterdeck… but he knows no other life than the Navy.

Review: The author throws us right into the battle from the first page and the action is invigorating! I quickly realized why Davy and Will are going to have to make some hard choices. But fate quickly makes a few changes for them, sending them both ashore.

Sent home to go off the radar for a while, Davy gets to introduce his Commander, Will to his family. Highly dysfunctional family, if you consider that he quickly finds out the 1st born is dead, and the death is highly suspicious.

As Will and Davy settle in to landed life, Davy’s evil nasty brother Ronald, second to the heir, comes home to anticipate his father’s death and wreak havoc on all that reside at Grenbrook.

There are dead brothers, dead wives, and even more murder attempts, but Ronald conveniently either has an alibi, or remains tight-lipped about each event.

What transpires is a daring, risky investigation into the murders, even though Will tries to give the benefit of the doubt, and Davy is set on proving his brother Ronald guilty.

For the lusty bits, Davy and Will have a hard time finding privacy amongst family and servants….until Davy brings Will to his childhood hideout!

There seemed to be a bit of ebb and flow in the action, at first fast paced and nail-biting, then slow, then again at the end the action picks up. There seem to be two paces in this book, at sea there seems to be more drama, more action, and a more developed world. Davy and Will’s relationship and the pace of the story seem very different on land, as I’m sure they were intended to be.

The proposed solution to Davy and Will’s relationship woes at the end of the story, is one I’ve always played with in my mind when it comes to historicals…it’s fun to imagine it working out, but there are so many land mines there….we can only wait and see how it all works out in the next part to this sexy adventuresome story.

Blurb: Daryl Greer isn’t a bodyguard. He’s Hercules Security’s “odd-job” specialist, as wild and dangerous, as he is competent. Fiercely independent, he resents his older brother Matthew’s view that he spends his life “playing G.I. Joe.”

When he’s sent to rescue a kidnapped scientist, Dr. Emerson Winfield, from a terrorist organization, Daryl finds himself attracted to the snarky, outspoken man even though Emerson is the kind of rich, successful person Matthew claims could never be interested in a hick like Daryl.

For his part, Emerson doesn’t care about Daryl’s lack of polish; he’s more interested in the incredible chemistry between them. He sets out to prove to Daryl that they can make a relationship work despite their differences.

But Daryl’s defensiveness about his career drives a wedge between them — and if he doesn’t find a way to deal with his issues, Daryl might lose Emerson forever.

Review: Each book in Herc’s Mercs collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. For me there is nothing better than men who carry guns but in this story the fact that these gorgeous men do what they can do to save others. Now they show what hero’s really are.

Daryl has a horrible child hood, caused a lot of trouble, joined the military only to get kicked out, and is now one of Herc’s Merconaries. He goes in and save those who are in need of saving. He can hot-wire a car in seconds, track those that don’t want to be found, annoy his brother to no end and find his ass in hot wire without trying. He is sent in to find a scientist and get his sexy ass back to safety. What he does not expect was to come across a scientist with an attitude and a mouth that doesn’t shut up. Nor does he expect to fall in love.

Emerson is the type that could get the Nobel Prize. However, what he ends up getting is his ass abducted by a terrorist organization and then rescued by one of the sexiest men alive. However, he has so many smart-ass remarks, I am surprised that Daryl hadn’t smacked him, but in the end, it seemed to turn the man on. They have their problems but these two have the strength to fight for their happiness in the end.

This is a fascinating story that I absolutely loved. I had a blast reading it and look forward to reading the next book in this amazing series. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could possibly want in a story and so much more.

If I could ever get the chance to meet someone like these men, I think I would be in heaven. They are so well described and their hearts can be seen in their eyes. You can usually tell when a story is written with a lot of passion and love, and this is one of them. I loved this book and would recommend reading it.

Review: When Brian Aimes walks into Donovan Chambers office, he doesn’t expect to find Doctor Chambers in the office, much last nursing a bottle. And the last thing he expects is to wind up naked in the good doctors arms, on Donavan’s couch while his wife sleeps upstairs. It was Brian’s last night of employment at the hospital, so why not go out with a bang, literally. Not like he will ever see Donovan again. Or so he thought.

Short, Sexy and Steamy, my three favorite colors! I devoured this book in about thirty minutes and was surprised at just how much content was given in so few pages. You really get a feel for what each man is going through in their life, and why they so desperately crave each other. The story alternates points of view as well, which can sometimes be confusing. But I was completely engaged and engrossed the entire time.

It was quite nice seeing each current situation through each mans eyes.

If you are looking for a fast, smexy, well-written novella then you must grab a copy of this one!

Review: I’m a Cheyenne Meadows newbie, but I do like my friends to lovers trope, and I am always up for a good shifter read, so I was looking forward to this. While I was expecting sexiness (shifter love, hottt!), I was pleasantly surprised at how much time I spent laughing.

In this case, the supporting cast was hilarious; it was the folks around Wiley and Ram that stole the proverbial show. The matchmaking grandmother was not just any matriarch. She was an unapologetic, horny, slutty love-em-and-leave-em grandma with a libido mirroring that of the Energizer bunny. Impressive for someone hundreds of years old, really. You kind of see where Wiley (the self-admitted player) got it from… only he was perhaps more discreet.

Giving Grandma a run for her money in tickling my funny bone was Wiley’s younger brother. If there was an inappropriate question to be asked, he would ask away – especially if it involved what people do in bed. This read was a delightful exposition of cringe humor done well. Loved these two – and everyone’s reactions to them.

Wiley and Ram themselves were sexy, even if they did take forever to get their groove on. Once they finally did – Hot – hot – hot with some ridiculously funny moments. I really liked these two, even if they were a little bit much at times. There was the usual back and forth, the will-they-won’t-they, and the what-the-hell-did-I-do drama. I was glad they eventually got back to sexing each other up, and gave us a nice little HEA.

I enjoyed this foray into the world of Wiley and Ram, and would definitely read more of this author. So – sit down. Suspend belief – definitely be prepared to suspend belief. And get ready to laugh. Because this was as silly as it was sexy. Recommended for anyone who wants a break from reality, some good chuckles and sexy over the top shifters.

A departure from my recent crumpled tissue ugly cry reading, this walk on the lighter side of things was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Review: This is just… wow! This book is both complex and amazing, so don’t be intimidated if you prefer reading short novels or novellas. The book is set in present day (I had initially thought that it was set in the future) and features a big scary government, or rather a mad character who represents the said government. I

t’s a bit like Terminator (minus the time travel). Actually, the main character Tim (aka TM 05637) reminds me more like River Tam from Firefly. Yet at the same our main character, Tim, is also learning to be human, so from that aspect he had the charm and plain analytical nature like seen from the character of Data in Star Trek: TNG.

Ok, all sci-fi references out the way and I think it’s plain to see that I loved this book. So…

Tim, as in the blurb, is genetically engineered and was born in a lab for the express purpose of being trained for military ops (this is kind of where the River Tam association came in for me). He’s a sad figure because other than the lead scientist that created him, as well as his birth mother,

Tim has not known love. Hell, he doesn’t have a real name beyond his barcode. As for David, he’s a rather ordinary small-ish town guy. He is sweet, kind, and loyal to a fault. He’s just about everything that Tim needs after escaping.
I really enjoyed how the attraction between Tim and David was set to simmer. It especially works really well so as the romance doesn’t get in the way of the other forming subplots.

There is a lot going on, but everything is interesting and they all worked well to develop the characters, particularly Tim. There are a few surprises in store as well, but again, these too were put on a slow simmer.

There is one main plot point throughout that is integral and had me both ongoing and dreading for the end – that’s when some of these little pleasing surprises really helped me along. It’s not specified in the blurb, so suffice to say it’s about a genetic flaw inbuilt into Tim’s DNA by his creators.
And that brings us to the end! Oh-my-bloody-God! The biggest tease of all? We get the Prologue and first chapter of the sequel (To Be Loved, released February 23).

Review: This is book four of the Shifters of the Claiming Kind series and they need to be read in order. It will help you know who each character is and what they are about. It also helps to give you an insight into their lives and troubles. It is a pretty amazing series and those cowboys are downright sexy. This is a paranormal shifter story, but they don’t just know at once that the person they are looking at is their mate. The wolves also go through something called the change and it can cost them their human sides.

When it was completely dark, the Change would come over the shifter at the age of around twenty-five or twenty-six. The shifter would have to mate with another compatible shifter to stop the Change. Otherwise, Leo would permanently transform into their animal forms, losing their human selves forever. Leo was hiding the fact that he was going to go through this.

His mate, Paolo was human so his blood could not stop it. He knew it was wrong to hide it, but he didn’t want his mate scared. He had checked into the other ideas, but one of them could actually kill his mate. He would just love his mate until it happened.

Paolo knew something was up with Leo. Leo was having nightmares, sleeping very little and not eating like he should. He searched for the truth, but when he came across what was happening he knew he would have to do something to save his mate. Even if it meant he was going to die. He would do what needed to be done.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. It gave me everything I could want in a story. The perfect amount of danger and excitement, passion and fire, anger and pain is just parts of what I got from this book.

I would definitely recommend reading this book. Especially if you love gorgeous men, sexy shifters, mates who are in trouble, hot sex and dangerous men. I loved it and look forward to the next book.
