A little blue world, the third planet from the sun. It’s home to seven billion people—with all manner of faiths, beliefs, and customs, divided by bigotry and misunderstanding—who will soon be told they are not alone in the universe. Anyone watching from the outside would pass by this fractured and tumultuous world, unless they had no other choice. Todd Landon is one of these people, living and working in a section of the world called the United States of America. His life is similar to those around him: home, family, work, friends, and a husband.

On the cusp of the greatest announcement humankind has ever witnessed, Todd’s personal world is thrown into turmoil when his estranged brother shows up on his front porch with news of ships heading for Earth’s orbit. The ships are holding the Nentraee, a humanoid race who have come to Earth in need of help after fleeing the destruction of their homeworld. How will one man bridge the gap for both the Humans and Nentraee, amongst mistrust, terrorist attacks, and personal loss? Will this be the start of a new age of man or will bigotry and miscommunication bring this small world to its knees and final end?

Fire and Granite by Andrew Grey ~ Audio Review

Blurb: The heat is growing from the inside, but danger is building on the outside.

Judge Andrew Phillips runs a tight ship in his courtroom. He’s tough, and when he hands down a sentence, he expects to be obeyed. So when a fugitive named Harper escapes and threatens his life, Andrew isn’t keen on 24/seven protection…especially not from Deputy Clay Brown. They have a past, one that could cause problems in their careers.

But with Clay assigned to Andrew and the two of them together every minute, there’s nowhere to hide from their attraction – or from the fact that there’s much more than chemistry blooming between them. As the threat intensifies, Clay knows he’ll do anything it takes to protect the peo-ple who are taking their places in his heart: Andrew and his young niece and nephew.

Review: Fire and Granite is the second book in Andrew Grey’s Carlisle Deputies series, which is a spin off of his Carlisle Cops series and has the same naming convention in that each book from both series is called “Fire and…”. I really enjoyed Carlisle Cops series. I’ve only read all of Carlisle Cops books and have heard the audio narration for half of the series. I’ve also read the first book of this series but again, have not heard the audio. Fire and Granite does work as a standalone book, although I do remember back to other books when we meet up with the various people on the Carlisle police force. To be perfectly honest, I don’t really remember the first book of this series all that well, but I remembered the names when I came across the characters in this book.

Granite and Fire is the story of Deputy Clay Brown and Judge Andrew Phillips. The two do not get along well at all, although Clay has no idea why the judge is a bit of a dick to him. Especially since they encounter each other in the courtroom when Clay needs to give testimony it can make for slightly awkward times and it makes a certain deputy very grumpy, but it’s a sexy kind of grumpy so I’m all good with that. They are thrown together when a prisoner transport goes wrong and sees two deputies in hospital and Clay uninjured when his no-good cousin (no love lost between the two men) is broken free and the deranged man goes after the judge he swore revenge on the last time he was in a court room. Now Clay is keeping guard on Andrew and the two men have no choice but to sort out their differences. However, in a pleasant turn of events their differences aren’t really differences at all. But the stakes are ramped up when Andrew, in the middle of being threatened by a criminal, needs to go out of state and then make a home for his niece and nephew as his sister struggles with mental illness. Clay is by his side every step of the way and the two men are quickly coming to realise just what that means to them and their hearts and their futures.

Narration for this book was by Greg Tremblay. I’ve heard Tremblay’s narration a number of times in the past, including a few other Andrew Grey books. I find Tremblay’s tone and timbre well suited to the characters that Grey writes and all in all, I have no complaints. I was really happy with how well paced the narration was and the voices and emotions given to the characters, particularly the kids. Grey tends to write kids into a lot of his books and sometimes narrators miss the mark with the little ones, but Tremblay was on point in my opinion.

This is perfect for those that love to read or listen to cops falling in love as they try to solve the crime, get the man they want to put in gaol and get the man that they want in their life and their bed.

Blurb: Mossad Operative, Adael Dayan, has long been a pain in the ass to ATF special agents, Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans. Showing up in the middle of their cases time after time hasn’t endeared him to the pair but both men grudgingly have to admit, he’s usually provided valuable assistance. When Adael suddenly wakes up believing he’s been poisoned, it becomes a race against the clock to help find the person who’s done this to him and learn why in time to save his life.

Race Parker, former Green Beret, once carried Adael away from a vicious mercenary. Deeply attracted to Adael, Parker stayed with Dayan in the hospital hoping there might be a future between them. When Adael yanked his hand out of his the moment Jarrett Evans showed up, Race didn’t hang around. He wasn’t falling for a guy who wanted someone else.

Long ago Jarrett left Adael and the bad memories that ended their mission in Gaza behind. When he’d seen Parker and the Israeli in the hospital together, he’d had hope that maybe Adael might finally find happiness regardless of Adael’s insistence that gay men never remained monogamous for long.

Thayne has long been resentful of the relationship Adael had with Jarrett. Every time the Israeli shows up, things go from bad to worse. In this final installment of the Death and Destruction series, our men will once again be thrown from the frying pan into the fire, and all because a rogue Israeli spy can’t keep his bullshit to himself.

Review: I really enjoyed this fast paced, action packed story. Adael is in danger so he recruits Race to help and with him Jarrett and Thayne. I loved everything about this gripping story. The action was off the charts the danger seemed lifelike though the romance was on the lacking side which I did not mind. There are sexy times as well as sweet ones to enthral the reader.

I loved reading about the characters I have come to love with each book. The sarcasm and humor were prevalent throughout as was the edge of your seat anticipation of what comes next with each scene played out.

Another brilliant addition to an already amazing series that just keeps going.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Review: Each book in the collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This particular story is also tied to the Whitedell Pride, Gillham Pack and the Council Enforcer’s series. I would start with the Whitedell Pride series and go from there if you want the full impact.

Evan has a secret that just might get him kicked out of the only home he truly knew. He had disobeyed several orders but he just wanted to keep everyone safe. He let his mark live and then be used by the same man. He has also been staying away from his mate trying to figure this out.

Greg was not an assassin so he didn’t truly know what they went through. However he knew his mate and wanted him. To bad his mate was being difficult. He knew about life being difficult so he had the patience. He had been one of the kids who were saved from those who just wanted pets. Guess it is time for a bit of spying and a lot of help.

As I am a fan of this series I was a bit let down with this particular story. I know why Greg did what he did but I felt that it was not a good plan. Other than that it was still a pretty good story and can’t wait to see what the next story has going on.

With this story you get action, excitement, danger and some hot sexy times. It didn’t catch my attention like it should have but I can say that it will still be read many times over. The characters didn’t do anything for me but I would say that I did like Greg’s little brother quite a bit.

I did enjoy the story and would recommend it.

Shorty’s Review 💖💖💖💖💖 5 Hearts:

All hell breaks loose as soon as Evander and Alyx head for their honeymoon. I applaud the effort of those left behind to keep things in order and to try to stop the takeover. Once Evander and Alyx are attacked they both know something is wrong at home and rush back.

A wonderful continuation from the previous book with plenty of action, betrayal and romance. Loved the entire story and am looking forward to the next book.

Fantastic read.

Pixie’s Review 💖💖💖💖💖 5 Hearts:

Holy hell, this series just keeps getting better and better.

While Evander and Alyx are on their honey moon on a remote Island the unthinkable happens, not only are they attacked but their entire family and kingdom are targeted and it’s a race against time with limited aid for Evander, Alyx and their family and friends to reclaim their Kingdom before it’s too late.

I loved this story, it has action, adventure and heart in your mouth moments, a truly stunning storyline that has you shaking your kindle in frustration as you get to the last pages.

New characters are introduced that add to the amazing array of characters from A Hundred Others, while some characters have harrowing backgrounds every single one of them are strong, it’s a strength of character that shines through the lot of them, men, women and children alike. Not a one of them breaks under the pressure pushed upon them, they might bend a little but all of them keep going with strength behind them. And I loved that, I really appreciate an author who knows how to write a character of strength without making them overbearing or toxic in their attitude.

The storyline is fantastic, it’s perfectly woven to keep you turning the pages in anticipation. It grips you by the throat and doesn’t let go, not even at the end… because that ending holy crap, it was an ending that nearly had me screaming in frustration because it was such a twist that I had no idea was heading my way. I mean damn they had just been victorious and the author just backhands you while cackling evilly, the author then follows it up with a gut punch murmuring ‘suck it up buttercup, you’ll have to wait for the next book’.

So I recommend this to those who adore medieval fantasy, amazing characters, a wonderful storyline, and sadistic authors who leave you battered and bruised dangling from a cliff.

Review: Each Book in the Brac Village collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters I would recommend reading them in sequential order. This particular story is connected to the Brac Pack, Zeus Pack, Christian’s Coven, Brac Pack Next Generation, and Demon Warriors. To enjoy this to get the full impact I would suggest starting with the Brac Pack series first.

Three mates in an action packed story is what you get to enjoy. Malachi is a panther shifter, Abner is a human and Robbie is an impala. Mix that in with Christmas and a magic reindeer and watch out for some fun times. Robbie and Abner are the first to meet but Robbie has kept the fact that he is a shifter from Abner. So imagine Abner’s surprise when they meet Malachi and finds out that humans are not as alone as he thought.

However a few problems are in store for them. For one Robbie hates Christmas with a passion, talk about a scrooge. Then there is the fact that a rogue shifter is out there, well they are going to need that reindeer’s help to make Christmas perfect.

The rogue shifter was not truly explained on why they couldn’t get their hands on him and how he escapes them. Where this story was pretty cool it just didn’t have the impact that I would have expected from it. It felt rushed and was missing some good parts to it. The reindeer was a funny character he wasn’t truly as outstanding that I have found in other stories. The whole story just lacked as much excitement that I would have wanted to see.

Other than those few issues with the story I did enjoy reading it quite a bit.

Review: This story blew me away with it’s intensity. A serial killer has Nevin and Marco in his grasp after hitting Marco over the head at the cox club where they work and then Taking Nevin when they go out on a date. This story is beautifully heartbreaking yet intense in that the two MC’s never give up hope despite being abused and tortured by a demented serial killer.

I loved how despite their predicament Marco and Nevin were there for each other. Such an emotional story as we see how Maro and Nevin deal with what is happening to them and deal with what they went through after everything is over.

Humorous, gritty, emotional, sexy times to be had in this amazing addition to the series.

Highly recommended.

Blurb: A spur of the moment invitation changes two lives.

Then Jordan discovers what a treasure Brady is and who really keeps his business—and Jordan in particular—moving like clockwork. So when Jordan needs a plus-one, Brady seems the obvious choice to accompany him. After a major shopping trip to get Brady looking the part, however…. Wow.

Brady has a whole new wardrobe, and now his boss is whisking him away for a weekend party. Something is going on, something Brady never expected: Jordan is looking at him like he’s never seen him before, electrifying Brady’s long-hidden desires.

But can the romantic magic last when the weekend is over and it’s back to reality?

Purchase Link: Dreamspinner | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Kobo

Review: My Fair Brady is a super sweet romance by KC Wells that I adore. KC Wells is not a new author to me and although I know that I’ve enjoyed Wells’ work in the past and found their writing style pleasing, I can’t really name any other novels from the top of my head. Therefore, I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was that I love a romance that is the whole trope of boss falls in love for his PA when they are making out that they are romantically involved. There is just something so sappy and romantic of the two leads falling in love that makes me sigh like a teen in love. So heads up, if you like that too, then this will be a totally enjoyable read.

A quick note on the title. I’m by no means a fan of the movie My Fair Lady, but my sister and mum are obsessed so I had kind of expected something more along the lines of that movie to happen here. It’s not like that is an uncommon plot device – a rich guy (on a bet or on a whim) decides to make over and teach someone how to be around the upper echelon of society and they two unwittingly fall in love. To be perfectly honest, Brady already knows how to dress and how to act around the rich and famous, after all, he keeps his boss’s business and life together on a daily basis. He just doesn’t have the money and hasn’t had the need to be around these people until he and Brady start their little charade.

The story takes a lot of time to really get started, but that’s a good thing because we get to know our two MCs, rich, powerful businessman, Jordan Wolf and his very efficient and almost too capable PA, Brady Donovan. Brady has been working as Jordan’s PA for three years, but it is only until recently that Jordan starts to realise just how amazing the man is at running his business life. Jordan doesn’t have much of a personal life which is a shame for a strong man who probably is over due for a good dose of love. Then after a conference trip, Brady gets a severe flu and Jordan is shocked at the extent of how much Brady makes his life better and less stressful at work. Jordan is going through a series of epiphanies here and he is determined to help Brady, which is the start of the guys starting to get to know each other on a personal level.

I found the story really charming. The thing that I most enjoyed about this novel was that not only did the reader get to take their time to see the characters develop and get to know them properly. Additionally, I liked how the romance, while not a slow burn, was not a case of “ooo, I didn’t see you for three years and didn’t realise you had a crush on me, by the way I love you”.

He needs a solution and fast, but when his steroid use is exposed, he’s close to losing his place at Owatonna and more importantly, on the Eagles Hockey team. Thrown out of his house, with nowhere to go and no future in sight, he only has one choice; agree to mandatory counseling, random drug tests, and get his act together. Only then will he have a chance at normal. Meeting Hayne, a senior connected to the world through his art, is a shock to the system. Moving in with him is his only option, but falling for the shy artist leaves Scott in an impossible situation, and one he can’t escape.

Hayne has always been that quiet, creative kid who sat in the back of class drawing instead of listening to the teacher. A talented artist, the shy and sensitive young man is struggling with the loss of his childhood friend. Seeing his sadness reflected in his usually colorful paintings, he decides to attend grief counseling and meets Scott, a lost soul in desperate need of light and color in his life. Taking in a homeless hockey player certainly was never part of his carefully orchestrated ten-year plan. But now that Scott is in his life, he’s discovering the joy of this man’s loving smile and tender touch is one of the most beautiful palettes on earth.

Blue Umbrella Sky

by

Rick R. Reed

Milt Grabaur has left his life, home, and teaching career in Ohio to start anew. The Summer Winds trailer park in Palm Springs, butted up against the San Jacinto mountain range, seems the perfect place to forget the pain of nursing his beloved husband through Alzheimer’s and seeing him off on his final passage.

Billy Blue is a sexy California surfer type who once dreamed of being a singer but now works at Trader Joe’s and lives in his own trailer at Summer Winds. He’s focused on recovery from the alcoholism that put his dreams on hold.

When his new neighbor moves in, Billy falls for the gray-eyed man. His sadness and loneliness awaken something Billy’s never felt before—real love.

When a summer storm and flash flood jeopardize Milt’s home, Billy comes to the rescue, hoping the two men might get better acquainted… and maybe begin a new romance.

But Milt’s devotion to his late husband is strong, and he worries that acting on his attraction will be a betrayal.

Can they lay down their baggage and find out how redemptive love can be?

Blue Umbrella Sky is my first novel set in my new home of Palm Springs, California. The old song is true—it never rains in southern California, but when it does, it pours. A flash flood plays an unlikely Cupid in bringing our two main characters together, as you’ll see in the excerpt below.

Don’t Let Go by Andrew Grey ~ Audio Review

Title: Don’t Let Go

Genre: Contemporary, Cowboys

Length: 6 hrs, 18 mins

Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (13th December 2018)

Blurb: Avery Rivers is a country music sensation, selling records by the millions and playing to sold-out crowds. But behind that persona is Robert, a burned-out musician cracking under the pressure. He’s unable to write any new songs, and he wants out of the business – at least for a while. He changes his appearance and finds honest hard work in Jackson, Wyoming. Maybe getting to be a regular guy for a while will get him past his block.

Hy Whitely was a championship bull rider until he watched his best friend thrown in the arena and decided the rodeo circuit was no longer the place for him. He wants to be plain old Zeke for a while, and when he returns to his family ranch, he bumps right into Robert – a one-night stand from his last rodeo appearance – who is now working there as a ranch hand.

The heat between the men could sear the grass off the range, but each one is hiding a secret. Robert and Zeke, the men behind the public images, fall in love, but can they hold on when Avery and Hy are pulled back into the spotlight?

Review: Don’t Let Go by Andrew Grey has three things that I absolutely love. Firstly, a book written by Andrew Grey is instantly on my to be read pile, second there is cowboys (on the rodeo circuit at that) and thirdly, I’m a sucker for a country singer out for a bit of romance.

This was a totally satisfying audio. The story was super sweet and the chemistry was on point, just as I expect from Andrew Grey. The last couple books I read of his had left me a little disappointed and so to me was a return to what I love about his writing. The audio narration was by Jeff Gelder, who I’ve heard narrate books in the past (and probably other Andrew Grey books too). I enjoyed the narration. He had provided a good voice for the two MCs and was good in conveying their emotions through words and tone. Overall, his style was rather laid back, which for the most part suited the backdrop of the story.

The story starts with Robert, aka Avery Rivers, is a massive star in the country music world. He is at the end of a long and exhausting tour but is already dealing with the pressure for more tour dates as well as write songs and record his new album. The biggest problem is that the words and the music are just not coming, and he is dangerously close to burning out. And so ready to drop the Avery Rivers persona and be just Robert, at least for a little while. He wants nothing more than for the music to come back but he is already fighting the fear that they will never come back if he doesn’t take this break. So, Robert shaves his hair off and makes himself only contactable by phone and he hits the road. A one-night stand while attending a rodeo sends Robert to Jackson where he manages to find work on a ranch helping an older gent on his property. For Robert it’s a dream because he had grown up on a ranch until his parents lost it and were forced to leave the land.

Hy Whitely is a star on the rodeo circuit. His actual name is Zeke and uses the stage name to maintain his privacy. He has an eventful tournament though, when his road buddy is seriously injured and sent to hospital, but not before he had a one-night stand that rocked his world. After speaking about home to Robert, who he had met a bar and after the events that culminated in Zeke winning the rodeo, he heads home to help his father on the ranch.

The biggest shock is seeing Robert again, who was just hired by his father. Zeke isn’t sure how he could live on the same property as Robert without taking him to bed again, especially without his father knowing. Things are complicated because the two men are keeping secrets from each other. Despite Robert being higher on the superstar food chain, both men are celebrities but don’t want to risk everything – just yet – and reveal their secrets, that is until they must. The biggest hurdle they face

In a lot of ways Robert and Zeke are two sides of the same coin and together they are everything that turns you to goo and believe in love. They are well matched together, I enjoyed the lack of angst and drama considering both men use stage names, not revealing their identities to each other on purpose for most of the story. is how to maintain a relationship when their jobs are not conducive to being together. Along the way I thought it was funny that Zeke’s father is the voice of reason here, although Zeke doesn’t get along with his father terribly well, the man is a rough and gruff country man and found him quite likable, particularly at the end.

If you’re into cowboys and rodeos and a splash of celebrity this will suit you. Like me, I know the whole western/cowboy/ranch sub-genre is pretty damn popular in MM and so if this is your thing, go for it I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Review: Each book in the collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This particular story is also tied to the Whitedell Pride, Gillham Pack and the Council Assassin’s series. I would start with the Whitedell Pride series and go from there if you want the full impact.

Stubborn mates is one way of looking at it. Sasha had been one of the human’s who had been captured and experimented on. He got a power that scared him and made him not want to even try it. His one try at a relationship had ended up in death and he feared loosing another. He was left with memories as well as scars from what had happened. Then his mate ended up in trouble and damn if he wasn’t going to rush in and help.

Hunter loved sex and never with the same man. Then he scented his mate and that all changed. He just didn’t know how to get through to him and how to help him. Then when a mission went bad, well lets just say the shock of his mate stunned him.

I liked the guys quite a bit although I felt more for Sasha. He just pulled to me more than the others. His story was horrible and I understood him better than Hunter. It is an action packed story with quite a bit of excitement and hot sexy times. This is one of those stories that will be read many times over. I was also glad to see Nysys in it, he always makes my day.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next story.

Blurb: High Arcanist Delaney D’Vaire is the world’s only dark wizard, something that has alienated him from his people since birth. Orphaned as a child, he is shuffled around until the Prism Wizard sees his potential, steps in, and enrolls him in school. Though he never truly feels like he belongs, Delaney excels. Graduating at sixteen, he applies to a unique sanctuary, and his life forever changes when he is accepted. Delaney has the family he’s always wanted; surrounded by love and support, he’s grown into a young man, giving everything to help the people who still scorn him, though he continues to doubt himself. All he needs now is his mate, but Delaney is skeptical that even Fate could come up with his perfect match.

Vampyr Lord Grigori Volkov is the genius of his family. Numbers line up in his head, and he loses sight of the world around him. At fourteen, young Grigori creates a nearly synthetic version of blood to sustain his people, saving countless lives. Content to remain out of the spotlight, his involvement is kept from the general public. Since then, Grigori has spent most of his time alone in his lab, learning all he can and pushing his limits. At twenty-six, Grigori is content with his solitude and doesn’t believe Fate has him in her sights.

When the High Arcanist and the Vampyr Lord appear at the same event, they are stunned to find that Fate indeed has a plan for them. Reeling from their discovery, the mates set upon the task of getting to know each other. It does not take them long to find common ground, but as Delaney and Grigori build their life together, old foes will test them and their entire family. The path Fate has laid out for them is not simple, but they must be strong enough to trust in each other and stand together rather than alone to learn what it truly means to become D’Vaire.

Review: In this addition to the D’Vaire series Delaney is front and center as he meets quirky, scientist vampire Lord Grigori. I loved Grigori and his absentmindedness. It was so cute when he panicked after missing their first date by accident. These two were a great match for the other. Delaney’s familiar was a riot with what he did to Grigori while he was sleeping.

Though the majority of the book surrounds Delaney and Grigori many other things are happening as well. We finally get a resolution to Latarain and her evil grandfather once and for all not to mention shadowwalking and a few other things that happen along the way.

This is a fantastic series as each new character that is introduced seems to fit the D’vaire family perfectly and further the series into deeper depths. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. I am curious why the wife of Duff’s brother was not prosecuted for what she did, after all she did travel to the United States in an attempt to kidnap Delaney so she should have been brought back to stand trial. Surely the sentinels or reverent knights could have picked up on her magic signature or what have you but that’s my opinion.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Corey flees an abusive situation and ends up in Brac Village. However he seems to only have bad luck. He can’t find a place to stay for one. That is until he overhears someone who needs a new roommate. Things might just be looking up especially when he even lands a job.

Jake has been assigned to find the man who killed an innocent. He joins the police department in Brac Village and has the luck of finding an apartment right across from his nephew and his mate. He knows that one of the killers had been a cop that had been killed not too long ago, but to him everyone at the station might just be the other killer. He must protect his mate and in comes the surprises with this one.

I enjoyed the humor mixed in with the seriousness of the story. The characters are quite enjoyable and sweet, or at least Corey is. Jake is a bit like the cop down the street, hard headed and strong. I like that the story is full of action, excitement and entertaining. However it felt rushed which has been a pattern with the last few books by this author that I have been reading.

Other than my issues with the story it was an enjoyable read it and I look forward to the next book.

Review: Kyler works at the cox club when he meets Seamus, an undercover FBI agent sent to investigate him for terrorist attacks. Seamus thinks Kyler is innocent as he grows closer to the young man. What starts out as an investigation quickly turns into so much more between the two men.

I loved everything about this story. The plot was amazing. The characters all had their roles to pay in bringing this story to life. The investigation was detailed and engaging.

Fantastic addition to the series and highly recommended.
