Review: I will start off by saying I do not remember the first two books in this series so at first I was lost when I began reading. This is not the first time this has happened to me when reading a series.

The story begins with Adrien in a time stream with Nico and given a choice. Now I knew he would choose not to stay there so I did not get why he waited. Nico going with him surprised me though.

The only question I kept asking myself until near the end was why Adrien did not go back to before Nicholas was taken to begin with. That was where I would have began myself in his shoes. But then again he would not have succeeded as he was not as strong then with his powers.

Great ending with intense battles. The different timestreams added the extra bonus of seeing what could happen if things were left as they were. I really enjoyed this story and will some time in the future re-read to get the full story.

Great read.

Nothing can prepare Josiah Kimbrel for what he finds when he enters the compound of the River Wolf Pack. As an ambassador of the human-werewolf congress, Josiah is keen to build bridges between the two species. Josiah is surprised to see how ‘normal’ things look in the compound; the wolves, all of whom are gay, live in family units, complete with children, in houses built from local materials. He is even more surprised when he goes into what in the shifter world is called “heat” and is claimed by River, the alpha of the pack.

Review: Rebecca James is a new author for me and I have to say that I have mixed feelings at least about this story. It is a fascinating tale with a new twist to it. The characters are fun to read about and very interesting to learn more about them. It is a very steamy shifter romance with knotting and male pregnancy which was a fun fact for me. I always did love a good mpreg story. I had a few problems with this story though. It comes off a bit stiff and not as fluid as it should have.

River is not only a strong leader of his pack but he is loyal to a fault. He is also a bit strange to me, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that the man was sexy as hell. He has this power that makes an omega just roll over and beg for it. In the past and present humans and werewolves do not get along and River has decided it is time for peace. So he had agreed for a human to visit their pack. He had not expected the human to be a half werewolf and half human, and an omega to top it off. Damn he wanted the man.

Congress has decided to forge a peace between the humans and the werewolves, however it would seem they have an agenda of their own. They have sent a human to learn more about them, and Josiah was perfect for that. However it would seem that Josiah’s uncle has not told him that he was half werewolf. So when he goes into heat he is in for one hell of a surprise. It would seem he is in heat and an omega. That and the alpha River is his mate.

Now there is a lot of distrust going on in this pact. Josiah and his loss a friend due to a werewolf attack. The werewolf just happens to be Rivers second in command and Josiah doesn’t trust the man. However there are more secrets going on and the danger is heating up.

The way Josiah was with River just seemed unneeded. However it doesn’t really take away from the story too much. The story is very entertaining and actually fun to read. I wasn’t really sure if I liked the way they were in the beginning with Josiah refusing River, but it turns out to be pretty damn hot in the end. I didn’t much care to be told each chapter about who it is about but other than that I had a lot of fun reading this story and can’t wait to see what the next book is about.

Blurb: Pfc. Ford Lennox is fairly certain he’s once again in the wrong place at the wrong time. He hadn’t been a true part of the terror that was Project Zed, but suffered because of it, just the same. Ford was forced to remain in Bear Mountain to hide their location, but once Zed attacks, he knows he’s no longer bound to stay. Too bad a chance meeting with a wolf shifter in a wheelchair has him lingering and questioning if he should leave.

Angry at the world, Hemming takes out his frustrations on those closest to him—and ignores the draw to Lennox… at first. When the human is attacked by another shifter, the protective instinct within the wolf goes into overdrive and he’ll do just about anything to keep Ford safe.

But he’s tasked with hacking into the cyborg Zed left behind during the last attack. Deacon wants the shifter within saved, but Hemming’s not so sure that’s possible. Review: This book was intense. Deacon finally gets to question General Lore. Not to mention the hackers get to investigate how the cyborg works. I loved they were able to gather information through hacking Zed and General Lore’s files.

I read somewhere this was the final book in the series yet I find myself wondering what happened to Sal and Gianni, Capri’s brothers. There is no mention of that so I was disappointed. Not to mention who was D-3? There was no mention of tests being run on his body after his death. I would have liked to have known who he was and if he was related to anyone at the compound.

This was a great series to read and I could see it an on going series since there were so many rescued. Not to mention Deacon saying any new threats that pop up they would handle. I loved all the characters that have been throughout. Hemming, Ford and Orlando were exactly what each other needed. Ford was the glue that held the other two men together after all they had endured.

Absolutely stunning series. Highly recommended.

Review:  Each book in the Werewolves of Manhattan collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This story was meant to be a branch off from the Werewolves of Manhattan, but it is not to be.  Our very lovely Ms. Katt passed away after writing it, so it is to be the end of this amazing series.

Frank’s stepfather is what one call’s a mob boss, and Frank didn’t want anything to do with him.  However he had to serve ten years for the man after college, but that time was almost up.  The problem was he couldn’t get a job with his last name.  That is until  Rene’s alpha offered him a position with them.  Too bad he hadn’t know that werewolves had existed till now, think of the shock on his face.

Rene is a strong beta for the alpha’s and would be the second to find his mate.  He just hadn’t known what to expect from Frank’s stepfather.  Things are about to get interesting for these two. I would give you a bit more, but you really should read this book.

As I said before this was meant to be a new start, but is a bittersweet ending to an amazing series.  It is entertaining and just about hot as can be.  Frank was a big surprise for me.  I expected tough, macho and rough around the edges.  However he is one of the sweetest guys I have seen.  He was a big hit with me and I would have loved to hear more.

I loved reading it and can guarantee that it will be read more than once.  It is just one of those stories that will keep you entertained and falling in love.  I would definitely recommend it and the previous books.

Review: An amazing horror story that sends shivers through you at the climax of the book. I was stunned speechless at this brilliantly written short. Andrew waited to long to leave a convention. He is traveling to Thornton inn when he starts having car trouble, hearing a voice whispering t him and meets a cute guy on the side of the road.

I honestly would not have done what he had. My first thought would have been what is this young man doing out here in the middle of the night all alone in the darkness. The story takes on a terrifying tone as the revelations come to light when he actually makes it to the inn.

Fantastic read.

Review: Each book in the Pacific Cove collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Joe and Sam are twin bear shifters and they have just found their mate. A mate that is in trouble. They just have to figure out how to tell Matt that he is theirs and lets not forget the baby part. This might just get to be interesting in more ways then one.

I don’t really care for the instant sex thing right off the bat, well almost. However it is a very entertaining story that has some danger in it, plus some hot and kinky sexy times. I get a kick out of these stories. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It is even the perfect length to keep me smiling and having a good time.

The characters are a blast to read about and it always makes me tear up just a bit at the pain the human mates in these stories have. Each one seems to go through some horrible times. The author just seems to make the guys worlds seem like somewhere I would want to be. I absolutely love their dads too.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Review: Gordo is a bitter man feeling betrayed by all but those closest to him. I loved seeing the different things that happened through the years and how he reacted to Mark each time he saw him again. I thought at times he was a little more unforgiving than he should have been but I understood.

When push came to shove and several old and new enemies rear their ugly heads Gordo protects his pack, family and friends with everything in him. The omegas were scary creatures. But at the same time I felt bad for them as they were created by someone with absolutely no conscious at all.

The battle scenes were awesome. I loved the glimpses into the past and they way everything came to a nail biting cliffhanger. I am so excited to read the next book to see what else happens in this exciting series. Especially after the twist at the end.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Won’t Feel A Thing

(St. Cross 01)
by

C.F. White

It takes more than a doctor to mend a broken heart.

Ollie Warne is fresh out of nursing school and working his dream job as a pediatric cardiology nurse at St. Cross Children’s Hospital. Wanting to start the year fresh from personal heartache and his track record of falling for the wrong man, Ollie’s New Year’s resolution is to rid himself of emotional baggage and live a life of carefree liaisons.

But before the resolution can even begin, Ollie is called to care for eight-year-old Daisy Monroe, who’s struggling after heart surgery. Her father, Jacob Monroe, never leaves her side, apart from the times her mother comes to visit.

The tempestuous and somewhat estranged relationship of her parents is cause for concern enough, but the father’s brooding nature has Ollie investing far more time than usual in his Room One patient. Striking up a friendship of sneaking takeaways into the ward, card playing until dawn and the occasional breaking up of domestic fights, Ollie finds himself drawn to Jacob and becomes a friendly ear for the man who’s harboring more guilt and past demons than even Ollie, which is saying something.

The growing attraction makes it hard for Ollie to keep his distance, though he has to—not only do the ethics of his profession demand it, but Ollie is still somewhat involved with another man. One who has a huge stake in Ollie’s life, both personal and professional.

Ollie is risking more than just his job by getting involved with a patient’s father—much more even than the success of his New Year’s resolution, something that was supposed to ensure that, this time, he won’t feel a thing.

Blurb: When sixteen-year-old Guy Dimchek comes out in 1970s San Francisco, his best friend dumps him, his mom splits, and he’s left largely on his own just in time for his first ever sexual experience.

Things don’t get any easier when Guy’s father becomes a candidate for state office. Having a gay son doesn’t do his candidacy any favors, especially under the antigay “family values” fervor sweeping the nation. Compounding the situation is Guy’s new stepmother, who opposes openness on the gay issue and especially the revelation that Guy has a boyfriend—one he might be falling in love with.

Around Guy, self-help charlatans, radical cults, and extreme politics forecast 1978’s perfect tsunami: the Jonestown massacre in Guyana, Anita Bryant’s homophobic campaign, and gay city supervisor Harvey Milk’s assassination at city hall. In the midst of a perfect storm of antigay sentiment, Guy faces the supreme test when his father’s political opponent launches a smear campaign that employs both dirty tricks and physical violence against Guy.

Following the attack, an injured Guy must confront his own flaws and reunite with his fractured family—all while staying true to himself and connected to the boy he loves.

Review: Now I am one that doesn’t much care to try new authors because I don’t really know what to expect of them. However sometimes the title or blurb is what catches my eyes. For me the title was what did it to me. That is until I saw the blurb.

I have always loved a good romance though. I am also crazy as hell and will try anything first. Now my problem is I am never good with teenage years or coming out. This packs a strong statement on what many youth lives through though. So I thought what the heck read it and see if you like it.

Guy came out to his family and his friends. He got the wrong reaction that is for sure. His mother leaves him and he has no one to ask questions. Then his best friend dumps his ass, because he didn’t want to have anything to do with gay. Then his asshat of a father puts his two cents in. Only he is running for state office so his father has to stand behind his beliefs. What a jerk. Then there is Guy’s stepmom, who is such a bitch that you want to beat the crap out of her.

He is attacked and left with feelings of pain. He just wants to be loved. He also wants to be with the one he loves. However what is surprising is how they manage to all come together in the end and shows what a good family should be like.

I enjoyed this story and look forward to seeing what other stories this author has out there. I was quite surprised since I was going in with a bit of ill feelings. Like I said I was never good with books about youths, but this one was a big surprise and I was intrigued. I actually had a blast with it and would definitely recommend it.

Review: A Demon Inside by Rick R. Reed is a rather spooky novel and not for the faint of heart. For anyone who has read the first edition of this book, I have to admit that I never read the first edition, so I’m not entirely sure what has changed since.

The story itself has left me with some rather mixed feelings. Being a DSP Publication means that any romance is not front and centre of the plot, and what romance there was throughout the story was really nicely done. However, it is not that aspect that has bothered me. The horror was fantastically written and I really enjoyed it. In hindsight, though, I think that there was some sort of spark missing with the horror that connected all the dots for me in my head. But mostly, I found that after the build up in the horror and the terror felt by Hunter, the ending was a little too flat and a little too quick for my liking.

Nonetheless, this book does the creepy and poltergeist things perfectly, so on the surface this is a fantastic horror story which may well leave you with chills running down your spine.

The story follows Hunter Beaumont and finds his life at loose ends when in a tumultuous short period of time his beloved grandmother dies and his boyfriend dumps him. In a move that is something like a classical gothic horror, Hunter decides to live in Beaumont House after being told by his grandmother on her death bed to burn it down. Beaumont House has no end of secrets (which leads Hunter to uncover the memory of when his parents had died when he was a child) and some of them are quite deadly (this is one house with a bad history).

The subplot featuring the neighbour of Beaumont House, Michael, is where the romance comes in. Michael is a sweet guy and matches well with Hunter. However, Hunter seems to spend a lot of time doubting his new relationship and I’m not entirely sure whether or not this is actually to do with the “demon” of Beaumont House or just Hunter being insecure. This adds a nice, lighter plot to the otherwise dark/horror we otherwise get.

Despite my conflicted feelings, this is a good book and anyone into horror and anything that is generally just creepifying (in the words of Joss Whedon) stories will at least enjoy this read.

Lisa’s Review: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts, Heat Level: Low

This is one of those series that must be read in order. Trust me you will fall in love with these guys.

Logan wants Kieran more than he has wanted any man before. He just doesn’t smell like they are fated mates. His pack seems to be getting bigger as time goes by, but he is happy with the way things are going. However he doesn’t truly show it, growing up his and Jackson’s father was a piece of work. Always blaming everything that goes wrong on Logan. He slowly learned to turn his feelings to ice, never showing how he really felt. That is until Kieran.

Kieran had been sold as a slave to a nasty piece of work. He was a special wolf with a very unique gift. He can calm and help ones feelings with just a touch. He learned how to hide his scent similar to the w ay Logan and their pack does. Things get a bit twisted for these two but well lets just say the book rocks.

I had a blast reading this book even more than the last three. So much so that I can see myself reading this series more than once. Danger, excitement, surprises, adventure and some hot sexy times are just a few things you get in this book. The characters are a blast to read, and lets just say that Kieran and his friends are my favorite so far. Cute and sexy is an understatement. These guys just pull at your heart.

I enjoyed reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Shorty’s Review: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts, Heat Level: Moderate

This story was a very intense emotional one. Keiran and Logan are both struggling to deal with what happened to them in the past. My heart cried out for the both of them and what they endured. I felt the love between them as they helped one another the best they could.
Keiran and Logan were both strong yet damaged characters. The struggles they faced were unimaginable. Yet they found a way with each other. I love how this series is going so far.

The one thing I never understood was why the brothers kept their powers a secret from each other as well as their mates. It seems to me they would have a much stronger front if they knew what said powers each had and what exactly they could but that’s just me.

Great read. Looking forward to reading more.

This is one of those series that must be read in order. Trust me you will fall in love with these guys.

Cody had part of his gift when he was a child. First it was like a feeling, then when their pack was killed he was getting visions left and right. He was also getting the pain from them just like he was the one that it was happening to. The thing was when he got a vision he left the place he was on and basically went somewhere else. He was afraid that one day he would not come back from it, somedays he wished it would happen. Then he realized the wolf that they found was his mate. A mate that could help him.

Dylon has known since he was a teenager that his mate would be a seer and that he would need him. He had been caught ratting out the pack he was out, the problem was he had no memory of it. Not that it helped him, it got him beaten almost to death. Then he comes to only to find out the ones who saved him were the ones that he was suppose to kill. And that the pack who ordered the hit, were the same ones that killed Cody’s family and pack.

This has some pretty good surprises in this book. I was pleased at how well this book turned out. Exciting with danger and lots of action are just a bit of what you get in this book. And trust me, you are going to love Dylon’s mom. She is a hoot. This story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could want in a story and so much more.

I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading the next book.

Shorty’s Review: ♥♥♥♥♥ 4 1/2 Hearts, Heat Level: Moderate

Cody is struggling with his seer gift as it has intensified. he is on the verge of giving up. Ex enforcer Dylon is badly beaten and on the verge of death when he comes to the Blackwood pack. I enjoyed the meeting between these two. The struggles they each have been through are a testiment to how strong they really are.

The series continues evolve in a great series with each brother being a focus and the gifts explained. I liked the details surrounding the brothers as the come in better focus. Cody and Dylon amazed me with their passion. I loved they helped each other when it was needed.

Love all the twists and turns that seem to just keep coming the further the series goes. I will not be pained in the least when the bad guys finally get whats coming to them. I will revel in the fact they will be no more. I despise them with a passion. The harm they have inflicted was so beyond bad that I have no words to describe it.

Great read.

Lisa’s Review: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts, Heat Level: Low

Colton and his brothers are the last remaining wolves from their pack. Murdered by an uncle for greed. They were alpha’s who were also omega’s. His brother was given the gift to have a child. Colton had finished over three years for his nursing degree before they had to run. It was the only thing he ever wanted to do, and now he might have the choice. A choice that is the most powerful of gifts to have, now all he had to do is to believe it.

Ian was a doctor and was pretty good at what he did. His whole life he believed that he was a gamma wolf, but it would seem there is some hidden truths in him. He has spent time talking to Colton on the phone but believes that they are mates. He never wanted to mate for fear that it would take away from what he wanted to do. Then Colton is kidnapped and being sold, he would do everything in his powers to save him.

This story was quite a bit better than the first book. It was exciting and danger filled all the way. It also was very unique in more than just one way. The characters just seemed to flow together perfectly, but damn Ian’s wolf is nutty. I love how they are so much closer to their wolves then many shifter stories are.

I found myself entranced with this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book to see if it is even better than this one.

I had a lot of fun reading it and would definitely recommend it.

Shorty’s Review:♥♥♥♥♥ 4 1/2 Hearts, Heat Level: Moderate

Loved this story about Colton and Ian. We are given more insight to the characters and details are revealed as to the why of things past. I loved that Ian wanted to ride to the rescue when Colton is kidnapped.

Colton struggles with his missed dream of being a nurse and settles for helping animals instead. When Dr, Ian comes in the sparks fly between the two then Colton is kidnapped.

I loved just about everything about this intriguing struggle of good and evil. Twists and turns take the reader on a journey of unimaginable power.

The only thing that confused me was why the dire warning in the first book if there were going to be no consequences? I would have thought kidnapping would be in the category of anything bad happening to the Blackwood pack members still living but that’s me.

Great read.

Lisa’s Review: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts, Heat Level: Low

Jackson and his brothers were the only survivors of their pack. They were special wolves and really had no clue. Jackson was the oldest which made him the alpha but he sure didn’t act like one. Which explained how he ended up hitchhiking buttass naked. What he had not expected was the man who picked him up, his mate.

Steel was an alpha wolf but he was also one of the four last dire wolves. His mother was the voice of fate and had told him something no male wolf would ever believe. That his mate would be the one to have his child.

Too bad the ones who killed Steel’s pack, wanted the rest of them dead. It is going to take a miracle in more ways then one. Now with this pack it is very long winded and goes off on things that were not really needed. So much so that it was harder to get into the story and even harder to finish the book. The characters were somewhat weird and didn’t really connect at all with them. There is great potential in this story but for me it was just overblown with a lot of added in stuff that could have been left out.

The story is unique and fresh with the idea of white wolves that are not just alpha but also omega. I did enjoy the fact that they could get pregnant but wished that the story was not dropped right in the middle. I don’t care for books that don’t have closure with each book and cliff hangers are not my idea of fun. Most times it makes me leave the book and drop the series, but I will make my decision on the next book.

Over all the story is a good read.

Shorty’s Review: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts, Heat Level: Explicit

I really wanted to love this story of an Alpha whose pack and family were attacked and massacred while him and his brothers are away at college. This story start of well as we see Steele and Jackson meet to discover they are fated mates. The intensity between these two was off the charts.

The want and need to discover the culprits of the massacre and to get back what was theirs was interesting. The huge cast of characters was a lot to take in all at once but they were important to understand how everything began. However, the many POV’s, inner dialogue’s and the overabundance of sex scenes, not to mention talking about them made me seriously speed read the book.

I am not a fan of more sex in a book when there is no need for it.

The overall feel is more porn like to me as opposed to a well rounded story with a balance of things throughout. I hope Steel and Jackson’s story will continue in the next book as I didn’t feel as though it was completely finished. I did enjoy the revelations that came to light in this story and the fact the book was well written.

I feel it would have much better if some of the sex had been cut out and inner dialogue’s slimmed.

Review: Oh my goodness I loved this story. It’s rare where you read a story about grown men shifting into baby shifters. The ones introduced in this story were so cute and adorable. Baby shifters basically have no rights. Their mates get to decide their jobs for them. I have to admit this pissed me off. Yes they shift into baby shifters but they are still grown adults.

Nick’s character was a blast to read. He was cheeky, sarcastic and intent on his remaining part of the team despite his baby shifter status. Sam, an Alpha lion shifter and leader of the team, is shocked when he discovers Nicky’s secret. He tries to keep Nicky out of danger by telling him what to do which does not go over to well.

I liked the whole teams acceptance of Nicky and Connor. Sam and Nicky work things out in their own time. I hope this will become a series as a few questions remained unanswered especially about the culprits EFSS and the other Alpha Unit team that was ambushed. I want to read more about all these teams and what happens.

Fantastic and intriguing read.
