Three Player Game

(Bluewater Bay)
by

Jaime Samms

Vince’s life has improved immeasurably since he moved to Bluewater Bay two years ago. He’s gone from working for a man he hated, to helping found a company he believes in. And he and his boyfriend, Pete, have built a delicate balance of power between them that keeps them both grounded and thriving.

Almost, anyway.

Pete’s job on the set of Wolf’s Landing is demanding. He needs lots of downtime off set, and that’s where Vince’s firm but gentle control isn’t always enough. And for Vince, Pete’s constant high-energy needs are turning out to be more than he can handle alone.

It’s no surprise to either of them, then, that sparks fly when Vince’s coworker Lee enters the picture. Outwardly, Lee is tough and confident, but when a bad back confines him to Pete and Vince’s spare room, the cracks start to show and his desire for connection begins to peek through.

Pete and Vince both like what they see under Lee’s prickly outside, but now the three men must learn that love isn’t about beating the game—it’s about balance, trust, and letting each other in.

Blurb: Dark faces the fact he will never enjoy the feel of a whip or a flogger on his ass again. The new alpha of the light pack cannot be seen as weak. Until the following morning when Dark answers his door to the sexiest vampire doctor he has ever seen, his mate.

After a day of unbridled passion between the sheets, Kai and Dark get thrust back into reality. When they see a man strapped helpless in a BDSM club, can they rescue him in time, or will they unleash a new threat upon them?

As a lust demon, Harry always knew he would have a mate with a high sex drive, but once he had met “master,” everything had turned pear-shaped. Now with two mates who love him dearly, can they overcome a threat that may be bigger than they realize, and will Dark finally get to submit?

With the supernatural high council present, will the light pack succeed in ridding themselves of the enemy?

Review: Dark has just won the Alpha challenge when he comes across his mate Kai. Kai is not all that happy to have found his mate, especially as he lives in New York and the wolf lives in Texas.  But, just as Kai and Dark work things out they find they have another mate, Harry, who is being treated badly in Dark’s BDSM club. Can the three paranormals work things out or will their enemy win?

This is a story that I had high hopes for because the beginning was well written and a lot was explained about this author’s paranormals. But, then it seemed to fall apart not long after Dark and Kai first met. Dark is the new alpha, but he is a submissive and he gets really upset when Kai seems to reject him. So upset, in fact, that he tries to kill himself. Kai suddenly realizes that he doesn’t want to lose his mate and voila they are all lovey dovey. They then rescue Harry from an abusive Master and he fits nicely into a lovey dovey sandwich. Then, suddenly they are threatened by an unknown source for unknown reasons.

In the blurb it says that ‘Dark faces the fact he will never enjoy the feel of a whip or a flogger on his ass again.’ Urm, well unless this book isn’t to this blurb then that is total rubbish, as Dark couldn’t care less who knows that he bottoms and likes a flogging. What does seem to emerge is his past with another Master and how that Master disappeared never to be heard of again, leaving him feeling abandoned. Harry has his own problems to get through including the loss of his powers. Kai is the only one that seems to have no problems other than pressure from the council to do what they want.

There are several very good bits in this book and to be honest this feels more like a novel cut down to be a novella; there are lots of details and information for such a short book and there is a lot going on in the way of plot. It also seems to be quite choppy, switching back and forth between characters. The sex is very hot, the BDSM is well detailed and the characters are quite good (although Dark needs to learn not to cry at the drop of the hat).

I believe that this is this author’s first published m/m (*note:  Ms. Shaw has a full Siren backlist, which includes only M/M romance.  To learn more about her and read reviews of her other works, click here.*) and I have to say the potential is there; it just needs to be smoothed out more. So, all in all, I will recommend this to those who love shifters, demons, vampires, hot sex, angst and a pretty good story-line. I’d also recommend this to those who are fans of Lynn Hagen, Joyee Flynn, Gale Stanley and Stormy Glenn.

Blurb: England, 1588. When a fairy betrothal ritual goes wrong, village lad Tam is bonded to Herne the Hunter. Warrior, legend, and Greenwood spirit, Herne once led the terrifying Wild Hunt, an army of the undead who rode as harbingers of doom. When his passions are stirred and his blood is up, Herne sports the antlers of a mighty stag.

Herne could be the lover Tam secretly craves, but Herne’s past makes him fear the brooding warrior will enslave or kill him. While Herne admires Tam’s toughness and humor, he has rejected love—as he has sworn off leading the Wild Hunt—and wishes only for solitude. To break their betrothal, they must travel into the Greenwood, a realm of magic and bondage where their desires for each other grow dangerously irresistible, and the Wild Hunt bays for their blood.

As the threat rises, Herne’s mastery and compassion realize Tam’s darkest sexual fantasies. Soon he’s no longer fighting for his freedom, wishing to be bound to the beast forever. But can Herne’s tortured heart be reawakened? And if so, will their love destroy them both, or prove Herne the Hunter’s greatest weapon?

Review: Herne has had vengeance in his heart for over fifteen hundred years, but he is losing his need to lead the Wild Hunt.  when he is called to The Greenwood, he finds the Wild Hunt waiting for him to lead it, but maybe the Goddess has something else in mind for Herne when he interrupts a fairy betrothal. Tam really doesn’t want to marry any woman, but he has been chosen to capture a fairy in marriage. But, it all goes wrong and there is a race against time to find a way to break the betrothal.  all the while, Tam and Herne fight their attraction to each other.

Another wonderful tale of The Greenwood.  although, this one is set over two hundred years before Bound For The Forest. Herne has been alone for a long time except for when he is leading the Wild Hunt across England.  But, he is tired of the vengeance.  the one who wronged him is long gone and although it hurts to remember that betrayal, he can no longer find the full wrathful vengeance in his heart. Tam ends up betrothed to the wrong being inside the fairy circle and now Tam and Herne must find a way to break the betrothal before it ends in death for Tam while running from and avoiding the Wild Hunt as they try to harry Herne to lead them and they want Tam as a sacrifice.

Tam and Herne are fantastic characters. Herne wants peace and quiet, to do his duty and to be left alone.  and Tam is a chatter box who is interested in all around him and can manage to get on Herne’s last nerve by being stubborn. Tam somehow manages to get through Herne’s thick shell and Herne wants to protect Tam. With the help (snort) of the fairies (you would not believe the mouths on them) and with the Wild Hunt on their tail, they discover just what the Goddess’s plans really are.

So…a story filled with world building, delightful and disgusting characters, incredible detail, more wonderful lore, passionate, primal, primitive sex with a touch of BDSM and some very happy characters with a wonderful ending, what are you waiting for get this book and let it take you on a journey.

Is the excitement they gain from their dangerous sexual games worth courting death? Maybe wanting each other more than breathing is actually worth living for.

Review:  Hot!!! Absolutely Hot!!!

This story was indeed More Than Breathing. What breath? I was holding it the entire time. But before I go on and tell you about the story, I feel the need to pay my compliments at the author, Treva Harte, for the elegance of her writing. She certainly has a way to captivate you and “make you feel”.

Now, the story takes place after the Civil War in Texas. Hatred for Yanks is overflowing and Rudy finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. By a twisted whim of fate he get saved by Hector, an elegant ex-lieutenant from Boston, who was passing by the city on his way to the west. I say a twisted whim of fate, because Hector has some very dark cravings inside of him that puts Rudy in no less danger than in the hands of the angry mob. At least in the mob’s hands Rudy wouldn’t suffer continual physical pain and fear…

What Hector doesn’t know, yet soon finds out, is that Rudy craves that pain and fear more than… Breathing!!

The two men find, in each other, what they’d been searching their entire life without even knowing it; a partner with whom they can explore and experience their fantasies, and whom they can trust with their life.

Smoothly passing by stages of lust, trust and devotion through the hot dance of excruciating and fiery sex, More than Breathing promises an exciting way to pass your evening should you to choose to read it, which I wholeheartedly recommend.

Blurb:   There’s a fine line between a secret and a lie of omission, and Trenton Otero has been walking that line for years. Past relationships have left Trenton with trust issues; then he met and fell in love with Braden Kelly, and he thought he’d finally found the one man on whom he could depend.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words, but what if those words aren’t the truth? Does the camera lie, or does the mind trick the eye into seeing what it expects to see? Both Trenton and Braden must decide what to believe, and they’d better do it quickly, or it may be too late.

An interfering friend, incriminating photos, and the memories that bind Trenton to the past might just tear the couple apart. Because love and lies can’t coexist.

Review:   This story was amazing. I was stuck after the first page. I couldn’t put it down for a minute! If I can connect with the characters, become one, I’m hooked. I was hooked first paragraph.  I could feel Trent’s pain when Derek dropped the news about his husband cheating. I could also feel his denial. I sat on the edge of my seat every page waiting to see what happened next. There were times I really wanted to smack Trent though and Derek I wanted to smack too- but he would like it, no I take that back he’d prefer to do the smacking. Anyways—the characters all were so well written the story held a lot of pain and past loss. I cried   a lot—

So a little about the story.  Derrick, Trent’s best friend tells Trent his husband is cheating and supplies photo- Trent freaks and runs—straight out into traffic and gets hit. Trent does a lot of reliving his past with an abusive lover. Then there comes a twist when he finally leaves and goes to stay with Derrick and his lover.  Derrick is a Dom.  Then just when you are like- wow I didn’t see that coming—BANG- smacked with another twist! Yeah awesome!

So does Trent leave his husband? Does his husband try to get him back? Does Derrick finally get Trent after all these years? What are these two big twists? I am not telling you will have to read the book!! It’s worth it

BlurbSometimes the question being asked might not be the one that actually needs to be answered.

When twenty-two year old Tom asks his older, conservative lover Isaac for an afternoon of kinky sex, that experience turns out to include much more than bondage, adult toys and spanking.

Both are surprised to discover Isaac’s need to dominate his lover as much as his lover needs to be dominated by him.

Excerpt From: Facing the Truth

“Isaac…?”

Isaac Newhouse knew that voice like he knew his own thoughts. “Yes, Tom?”

“I was thinking… You’re not going to get angry at me? Or think I’m weird?” The twenty-two-year-old looked genuinely shy, and Isaac wondered if it was about something other than sex. Because after the vibrator, the blindfold and the handcuffs, what could possibly make Tom worried that his lover would frown in disapproval?

“Why don’t you tell me? Probably the worst you’ll hear from me is ‘sorry, this time it’s no’. And you know very well there isn’t much of a chance of that. I admit I lack somewhat in the fantasy and imagination department, but luckily I have you for that.” Isaac smiled reassuringly. “Unless you’re asking me to go to a bar, pick up a stranger and have sex with him while you’re watching us, because that is one of the very few things I’m unable to give to you.”

“What…? You think I’m some kind of pervert?” Tom huffed. “It’s nothing like that at all. I want you to tell me what to do. That’s all. As long as it has something to do with sex, of course, in case you’re thinking about the kitchen floor needing a good scrub.”

Isaac scratched his head. He loved Tom with all his heart, mind and body, but during moments like this he couldn’t help but wonder if they even lived on the same planet. “Tell you what to do? Why? When I’m in the mood, you’re always more than willing to have sex. What more could I possibly ask of you?”

“This was a stupid idea.”

“Not stupid.” Isaac touched his lover’s shoulder. “Please don’t say that. But do I understand correctly? You want me to ask you to perform a number of sexual acts over the day and you promise to do them?”

“Sort of.” Tom shrugged. “It’s the weekend, we have two days to ourselves and I’ve been having fantasies about being dominated by my strong older man.”

“Oh.” Isaac fell quiet.

“Please don’t think what I think you’re thinking. I don’t want you to be a domineering brute who couldn’t care less about me. I love you for being sweet, patient, introverted, old-fashioned you. Knowing you, you’re going to order me to do things I love anyway.” Tom gave Isaac a quick kiss. “Just pretend you’re a bit more dominant than we both know you are, please?”

Isaac kissed him back. “Promise you won’t be disappointed?”

“That would be a first. Perhaps you don’t have a natural talent for kinky stuff, but you’re willing to give almost anything a try because of me. And oh, man, that is really something.” Tom now stood even closer to Isaac.

Very, very close.

“Getting excited about what I might ask of you? Wondering if it’s something we’d usually do anyway? Perhaps I’m going to order you to go to the drawer where you keep all the sex toys and lube. Or perhaps…” Isaac teased his lover.

Tom ghosted his lips against Isaac’s ear. “You think this might be the perfect moment to confess I bought some new stuff online?”

“You did, eh? Then I have to personally inspect the sex toys drawer to see if I actually approve of what you’ve bought. Now, you be a good bloke and make us a cup of tea while I take a look at what you ordered at the web-store for grown-ups.” Isaac patted Tom’s behind and walked straight to their bedroom, knowing when he got back there would be two mugs of hot tea on the table and one extremely eager Tom waiting for him on the couch.

He recognised most of the objects—the half-dozen different brands of lube, the handcuffs and the blindfold, the vibrating, bright red dildo and… Oh…

Tentatively, he took the larger-than-average butt plug in his hand. The solid weight of smooth black silicone was something he both could and couldn’t imagine pushing inside his lover’s arse, keeping him stretched and ready for almost immediate use. Once the plug was fully inserted, the flat round disk would be the only reminder of what was hidden inside. Isaac realized Tom could wear the plug while fully dressed.

He didn’t even look at the other recent purchases. This was more than enough for now. He placed the plug on the bed, together with a full bottle of lube. After getting a towel from the cupboard, he looked one more time in the toy drawer and hesitated at the sight of the leather cock ring, remembering the last time Tom had used it. He tried to ignore the erection pushing against the fabric of his cotton boxer shorts.

Although, why should he?

Review:  Facing the Truth is a very beautifully written story of two men in a long-term committed relationship, taking whatever steps necessary to fulfill the needs of their partner.   I am a hopeless romantic at heart.  There is nothing I like better than a romance that has two people so madly in love with each other that they would do anything the other needs. (Well perhaps a really good chocolate).

This story is about 39-year-old Isaac Newhouse and his much younger lover, (21 years) Tommy.

They have been together about two years and love each very much. Isaac loves Tommy so much that he is willing to step out of his comfort zone and learn  how to be a dominate. This is quite a big step considering he is anything but dominating.  But, he knows Tommy has these needs and is willing to explore this new sexual desire to please his lover.  Isaac has a few qualms about this. He is also afraid that if he can’t take this step and trust Tommy to not go overboard, and to keep the games safe, he may lose him.

So Does Isaac give Tommy what he needs?  Does this change their relationship? Does Isaac find out things about himself and Tommy he would rather not know?

I’m not going to tell ya. You will have to read it for yourself.  Why not? It is short and sweet and extremely hot.

Portia’s Two Cents:  This was an interesting book.  It’s not often you are given an opportunity to peek into the beginning of a D/s relationship.  Tom recognizes his own submissive nature and ask Isaac to dominate him.  Isaac is floored with just how much he loves having Tom submit to him.  This is his story.  Between some scorching hot love scenes, these two talk a lot.  And somehow, those conversations added to the sensuality of the book.  And I have no idea whether the author is male or female, but the dialogue had a masculine authenticity I liked.  *mini rant– Regardless of orientation, men tend to view life in terms of tasks/goals.  When I am reading and a male character starts rambling off tasks, I hear a feminine voice in my head…very distracting.*

I also liked that Isaac was open with his insecurities.  Again, normally, when you meet a Dom, he has already identified his personal kinks and at least begun training to safely dominate his partner.  Isaac is on square one and watching him embrace his nature was very enlightening.  There is more “plot” in Facing the Truth, then there was in Three, but the raw sensuality is the same.  I highly recommend this title for those of you who like a bit of kink with your loving without it being over the top.

Review: Here we are with the third Whispering Pines Ranch installment and I had to ask myself before I cracked it open “can S.J.D Peterson really continue to give us such heart-wrenching, scream through your knuckle stories” and I could only hope.

Ty is still reeling from Lorcan’s return into Quinn’s life and bed.  his bitterness and anger are eating at him and the knife keeps getting turned every day that he sees Lorcan ‘flaunting’ around the ranch.  Ty just knows that Lorcan can never give Quinn what he really needs and he also knows that Lorcan runs when the going gets tough. Blake recognizes that Ty is a submissive and is harboring great pain, anger and resentment.  Blake knows what that type of feeling can do to a man so he sets out to try to help Ty find himself under all those feelings before it’s too late.

S.J.D. has again brought us a book that tears us in different directions as we get the feelings and impressions off each character.  But the one thing she never gives us is a bad guy and oh boy do you want there to be a bad guy in all her books. In this one , as the book progresses, your feelings get churned up as you try your best to process everything the characters are going through; Ty’s resentment, hate, want, longing and need, Blake’s loss, fear and want, Lorcan’s love, doubts and fear and then we have Quinn his protection, love and determination.

Ty is determined to drive Lorcan away and Lorcan is determined to stay.  Although, he has doubts about how easily he let Jess push him away, the worst thing about S.J.D. Peterson’s writing is that you empathize with both characters no matter how much you want one of them to be the bad guy.  Lorcan, because he easily walked away from Jess into Quinn’s arms.  Quinn, for opening his arms and welcoming him back whilst shoving Ty away just as they began to get close.  And Ty, for wanting Quinn so desperately that he would scare Lorcan.

Blake is a welcome character that is a lot more suited to Ty.  He sees Ty and he recognizes why Ty latched onto Quinn even before Ty does.  He helps Ty just when Ty needs it most and I think Ty helped Blake with his past quite a bit, too.  Blake does have a tragic past and it will break your heart especially when Ty realizes just where he was heading.  once you learn Ty’s past you realize why he seemed to latch onto Quinn like a heat seeking missile, just a bit of kindness was all it took.

I don’t have to tell you how well written this story is or how good the characters are because you have already read the first two books in the series and if you haven’t then what planet are you from? As always we have the lovely Conner and John who we see briefly and who S.J.D. is setting up for their own story which I have a feeling will make me cry. I am also waiting with much patience with my sledgehammer handy for Jess’s story. Lol.

So I have to recommend this to those who love pulling their hair out in frustration, biting knuckles in anger, stomping feet… lol If you love incredible hot sex, cowboys in love, hot BDSM and kink, anger, true feelings, and the beginning of a beautiful new relationship then this book is defiantly for you.

Blurb: After filing charges that put his abusive ex-Dom behind bars, Jesse Turbul relocates halfway across the country, hoping to escape his past—but, of course, it’s never that easy. When Jesse meets third-year law student Aadon at the library where he works, their mutual attraction is instant and obvious.

Despite the sparks, they just can’t seem to make it work. Aadon is mired in guilt over his inability to help his older brother, damaged by events far too similar to Jesse’s past. Jesse is stuck in his own desperate wish to forget the painful shadow that continues to threaten him and any hope of a happy future.

The only way to move forward is for Jesse to acknowledge he’s broken and for Aadon to accept he can’t make him better.

WARNING: Some scenes may be disturbing for some readers: Self-harm, talk/history about rape and molestation, drug use, and abusive relationship.

Review: Jesse is still hiding from his past and it isn’t until he tries to start a new relationship that he has to admit that he hasn’t dealt with what happened to him.  With Aadon’s support he begins to face the past. Aadon has had his eye on Jesse for months and now that he has asked him out and started to get to know him he wonders if he can cope with the additional stress that is coming his way.   He hopes he can, because he has no intention of letting Jesse go, if he can help it.

This is an emotional heart-tugging story that shows the vulnerability of all the characters involved. Aadon is already coping with a lot.  He is the only support that his older brother has, his father doesn’t want anything to do with him and his mother follows his father’s lead. Aadon is Dominate in the bedroom and he has set his eyes on Jesse to hopefully become his sub. Jesse has had a terrible experience in the past which still affects him.  He begins slowly with Aadon confessing what happened in the past and Aadon tries his best to support him but Aadon knows that if Jesse doesn’t face the past he could lose himself to the past.

This was a very draining book, as what is happening between these two young men will affect you as well.  You will feel Jesse’s pain and fear, his stubbornness, his anger, his hope and his realization that he isn’t living he is just hiding from the past. With Aadon, you find out what he is already coping with and it will break your heart.  you will see his struggle as he tries to cope with being a support to two emotional and physically abused men, and you begin to wonder when it will all crash down on him as it beings to get too much to cope with.

The characters in this book are incredible, the story-line and plot are well written and are very realistic. Both these young men have their own little families who are there to support them through thick and thin.  We see the psychological effects on both of them and how that affects their relationship and it is not easy sailing. There isn’t much in the way of sex or BDSM but I was glad there wasn’t as it would have taken away the effectiveness of the story-line.

With this one I am going to recommend this to everyone… it isn’t a light read, it isn’t a happy, joyful read… it’s a read that will tear at your heart for the struggle that these young men go through.  It’s a story of hope and recovery and it’s a story of tentative trust and love. I highly recommend this story and will be lurking around the corner waiting for Ricky to start telling his story to Jaime Samms.

Blurb: Carrick Masters and Edward Boyd have already found true love—it’s the happy ever after that’s eluding them. Between Carrick’s job as an orthopedic surgeon and Ed’s career as a defense attorney, they have hardly any time to spend together, and what time they do have seems to be poisoned by resentment. Carrick and Ed know they need to refocus to make their marriage work, but they seriously need more than a spicy once-a-week date night to get them back on track.

Review: Ed is sat in a restaurant waiting for his beloved husband on their 3rd anniversary when he realizes that he isn’t coming. Carrick doesn’t realize what he has been doing to his husband while he has been ignoring him in favor of studying… it’s the start of them realizing that they are putting their relationship second and they have to focus on their relationship, as much as they focus on work.

This is a fantastic story that will make you sit up and take a long hard look at your own relationship to ensure you haven’t fallen into the habit of taking your partner for granted. Ed and Carrick have somehow managed to take each other for granted.  Even when they try to change that, they fall back into old habits. Even though they love each other very much, they both feel that they are losing something special.  As they begin to work on their marriage they discover new kinks about themselves.  And although it’s new and exciting, they know it won’t fix their problems.

A well-written story that touches your heart.  It is beautiful to watch these two men trying to reconnect and get back what they have lost in their marriage. While they try to get the basics of their marriage on firm ground, Ed finds that he has a kink, and that kink is slight submission, he enjoys giving himself over to Carrick and trusting Carrick to give him what he needs. Carrick has always been slightly dominant and this new kink that they have discovered excites him, but he also recognizes that they have to cut back at work and just focus on them.

A beautiful story about rediscovering the simple things in a relationship, a kiss hello, a snuggle in front of the T.V., lazy mornings in bed, a quick phone call to say I love you and most importantly that nothing is as important as the one you love. I have to recommend this to everyone who believes in true love and that that love is worth fighting for. And some incredible hot scorching sex!! (There’s also a little twist at the end that looks like it could make a great sequel.)

Blurb: In order to stop his magic from eating him alive, Chalice seeks out a man strong enough to dominate and control him.

Chalice might be a prince on his planet but his submissive tendencies prevent him from dealing with the incredible energy coursing through his body. Magic users need a second to balance them out, but there has never been a case where the one with the power didn’t hold the dominant position. Chalice’s ability as a rare four elemental magic wielder already marks him as different, though. And with the king in denial of his son’s needs, he has no choice but to look off—planet to find a powerful partner.

He runs into a diplomat on a mission who leads Chalice to agree to be the pet of an emperor—one whose reputation for tossing aside subs is only balanced out by the fact that Chalice thinks he’s the sexiest creature he’s ever seen. Chalice takes the plunge, hoping the biggest gamble of his life won’t prove to be his biggest mistake.

Review: Chalice needs a strong Dominant male to help balance out his magic.  Without a grounding force, he can only control his magic for minutes at a time, before he loses control. Chalice leaves his planet and takes a chance and hopes everything will work out. Terrin is an emperor, who has discarded many pets, but Chalice has caught his eye and Chalice’s demeanor intrigues him and he suspects he won’t get bored with him so easily.

Okay, I was really looking forward to this book, as I had been teased by Ms. Kell releasing little snippets on her blog for seems like forever.   The earliest post being way back when in 2010 (I have a long memory).   And I did enjoy the story…kinda. Chalice is looking for a Master to ground him and help him balance his magic.  He has come to terms with his needs, despite his family insisting that he should be the master and not the mastered, due to the level of his magic. Meanwhile, Terrin wants a pet/sub who can keep his attention. When these two meet it seems like a connection made in heaven, but Chalice has to tell Terrin his secrets and hope he reacts well.

This has a good story-line and plot, the characters are portrayed really well, the sex was hot and the story was humorous in places… but it wasn’t as well-developed as Ms Kell’s previous work; (which is really strange as she doesn’t usually miss a beat).  Because although we are told that Chalice is a four elemental magic wielder and that he needs a Master to balance it out the details were not there, you know… how does it balance it out? How does it work? Who was behind the attack? So Ms Kell has a slightly lower rating this time.

So my recommendation… although not up to the authors usually par this is still an enjoyable, cute novella.  There is definitely room for a series.  There is one traveler, in particular, who would make a great main character in a sequel.  *hint, hint* It has hot sex, great characters, a bit of danger, a bit of angst and a HEA so I’d say get the book, grab a cup of tea and enjoy.

Blurb: MI6 assassin, Kael Saunders, is a larger than life, dominant master who finds himself becoming a Daddy to nineteen-year-old Angel Button. Over the last year and a half Kael and Angel have settled into a loving Dom/sub relationship. But no matter how comfortable the highly intelligent and ruthless assassin and his sweet, eager, loving boy become with each other, Kael is still the boss and Angel wants him to remain so, whether in the dungeon, the bedroom, or the kitchen. Naturally submissive, Angel has learned how to be a good Daddy’s boy and a good slave, but his childlike willfulness still makes itself known now and again.

Kael has always wondered why he is able to do the work he does. Why is he so ruthless, so intelligent, so serious and rigid? Could it be that he got those traits from the father he has never met? Who is Kael’s father and will he ever meet the man whose genes he carries?

Review: This story is part of a series and I recommend they are read in order. Kael and Angel have settled nicely into their life together , but sometimes Angel feels like he won’t be able to live up to Kael’s plans for the future and he acts out.  Kael only wants the best for his Angel and he wants Angel to live up to his full potential. Kael also sees a man from his past that he never wants to see again, a Russian politician gets on his nerves and his mum finally confesses the secrets of the past.

This has got to be one of the best series that I have read. Angel is growing up fast but sometimes he still acts like a kid.  He seems to have a wide-eyed innocence that completely disregards all that he has seen and done in the past. Kael is determined to control exactly how Angel’s life will turn out and he has it all planned out.  But, when he realizes that maybe he has been a bit hard on Angel (with the help of his mum) he has to decide what to do.

I love Kael and Angel they are just such an odd couple.  Angel with his innocence and wonder and Kael with his cynical and deaden emotions; but, when they are together they complement each other well. The only person before Angel that Kael even cared about was his mum Sharon and now Kael is realizing that Angel has opened his emotions up slightly and Kael isn’t sure he likes it. What we have in this story is a big development in Angel and Kael’s relationship and it’s interesting.  And when secrets come out how Kael held himself back from killing the man who hurt his mother, I don’t know because he adores his mum.

This story is for those who love Angel and the Assassin, hot BDSM, a man who is dominant in all aspects of his life, a sub who adores his Daddy, who love violence and danger, who love a slight mystery and more wonderful stories to come.

Review: Okay, so I will go through the motions but really if you want to save yourself some time then don’t read the rest of this review, just go get this book.  Clear a couple of hours and sit back and enjoy a brilliant fantasy.

Gabe and Aleksei are back and things are not going too well.  It’s been three years since we last saw them and Gabe is fighting urges that don’t feel quite right to him; and trying to ignore the voice that is urging him to hurt Aleksei. He knows that he still loves Aleksei, but he feels like he is losing his mind at his own reactions.  Aleksei is trying to be patience, but he has realized that something is off and that Gabe is keeping something from him.

This is a brilliant fantasy that ties up all we learned in the first book nicely. Gabe is being Called and it is getting harder to ignore it.  He doesn’t realize that his wolf side is emerging or that he keeps forgetting things. The portals have become unstable and are killing random people; an ancient species awakens and starts to hunt Gabe. Lia (Aleksei’s sister) (a truly nasty woman) is desperate to get Gabe out of Aleksei’s life and we still have the mystery of Gabe’s blood. We also briefly meet Gabe’s mum and all I can say, Gabe was lucky to live on the streets and not with her.

The strength of Gabe’s love is all that is really saving him from doing something that he wouldn’t be able to live with.  and Aleksei’s love for him is all that he can really trust. There is quite a bit going on in this story but you never lose your way or miss anything.  It is also really well written and the characters are brilliant.  The story keeps you in its grip and it keeps you on tender hooks right until the very end.  I also have to say that the very end tore at me even though I knew it had to happen. There is one part of the book that has both m/f and cheating but neither is as it seems and it’s really hard to explain without giving stuff away, but trust me, there’s a good reason for all of it.

For those of you who stayed for the review, you now know why I will recommend this to you.  And if that’s still not enough then I don’t know what to say to you, except are you mad. Okay, fine…there’s danger, angst, pure love, incredible hot sex, a little bit of BDSM/kink, hate and a sneaky vindictive female.

Blurb: Fight like a man, or die like a slave.

Brooklyn Marshall used to be a policeman in London, with a wife and a promising future ahead of him. Then he accidentally killed a rioter whose father was a Member of Parliament and had him convicted of murder. To ease the burden on the overcrowded prison system, Brooklyn was sold into slavery rather than incarcerated. Now, he’s the “Mean Machine”, a boxer on the slave prizefighting circuit, pummelling other slaves for the entertainment of freemen and being rented out for the sexual service of his wealthier fans.

When Nathaniel Bishop purchases Brooklyn’s services for a night, it seems like any other assignation. But the pair form an unexpected bond that grows into something more. Brooklyn hesitates to call it “love”—such things do not exist between freemen and slaves—but when Nathaniel reveals that he wants to help get Brooklyn’s conviction overturned, he dares to hope. Then, an accident in the ring sends Brooklyn on the run, jeopardizing everything he has worked so hard to achieve and sending him into the most important fight of all—the fight for freedom.

Review: This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. Brooklyn was convicted of murder and he lost everything, even the potential of freedom in the future as he was made a slave with no hope of redemption. Nathaniel buys a few nights with Brooklyn and the two become close but after Brooklyn makes a mistake in the ring Nathaniel backs off and Brooklyn finds out the truth of who Nathaniel really is.

What a brilliant book, it’s based in the same universe as Rachel Haimowitz – Anchored where slavery is the norm and slaves have no basic rights. Brooklyn has had everything stripped away leaving him with rage, anger and regret.  He was done an injustice when he was convicted of murder and made into a slave, all to please the dead girl’s father who just happens to be an MP. Nathaniel somehow managers to get through Brooklyn’s shell and make an emotional connection with him but when the truth comes out, Brooklyn and Nathaniel have to come to an agreement as to what will happen next.

I love this story as it’s got boxing, slavery, controversy, love, rage, anger, slight BDSM and great characters. I loved that the story-line and plot was so solid and even though slavery is fiction, the way that the justice system jumps on the police is not… that is pure fact.  What was fiction was police protecting their own; ha they would sooner stab them in the back then help a fellow officer (sorry bugbear of mine). The entire book was detailed and you really ended up feeling just as angry and frustrated on Brooklyn’s behalf as Brooklyn was and I must admit I really wanted Brooklyn to smash Curtis’s face in just once.  God, that man enjoyed his work way too much.

I liked how the relationship progressed between Brooklyn and Nathaniel and I really could understand why Nathaniel backed off.  There was just too much to lose for both of them even if Brooklyn didn’t know why. I also loved that this book was written in English… err, I mean British English as it was a really smooth read as I didn’t keep thinking that there were spelling mistakes everywhere.

So there is a lot of stuff in this for everyone, I don’t think it really leaves anything out it’s got grit, violence, romance, hope, fear, rage, betrayal, slight BDSM, abuse, controversy, strong characters and love… it didn’t have revenge though (I do like a bit of revenge) so I recommend this to everyone… it’s a bloody good read… so read it.

Blurb: After a near-fatal accident, Logan Walker seeks help to control the compulsive blood fetish that almost cost his submissive’s life. Help happens to be in the form of an athletic, smart psychologist by the name of Dr. Kasper Bromley. Kasper, though, soon finds himself swept up in the fantasies Logan came to him to control. Reluctantly throwing his ethics to the wind, Kasper submits himself to Logan, gambling his career, his future, and his heart on this intriguing man and the lifestyle he offers. But when Kasper’s desires outpace Logan’s, the young doctor is swept down into a whirlpool of sex and sadism that even Logan’s love may not be enough to rescue him from.

Warning: This book has violence, drug abuse and heavy BDSM. E.g. blood play.

Review: Logan needs help to control his blood fetish.  He knows it could have been so much worse and if he doesn’t get help then someone will end up dead.  Kasper is a psychologist and his new patient has a problem with blood.  As Kasper helps Logan he begins to fantasize about Logan and his desires.

This is a well written in-depth BDSM story. Logan is concerned that if he doesn’t get control of his fetish he will lose control and accidently kill someone; he’s had a close call and never wants it to happen again. Kasper begins to be pulled into Logan’s world of BDSM and once he gets past his embarrassment and shame he embraces it with open arms determined to be the best submissive ever… no matter what the cost.

Now this is a view of Doms and Subs that we don’t always see; the one where the Sub is calling the shots and is manipulating the Dom/Domme. Kasper has always strived to be the best and to impress his father.  Even though his father has been dead 4yrs he still tries.  Now he will impress Logan with how much he can take as a sub and become the best sub ever. Logan tries to rein Kasper in when he realizes that Kasper is manipulating him into causing him harm because Kasper refuses to have any limits no matter how much he is harmed.

This is definitely an in-depth psychological story.  We have Logan who needs help and asks for it.  We also have at one point Logan counseling Kasper over what he feels.  and then Kasper refusing to admit that he has a problem that could kill him. This is an absolute fantastic story of two men who try to balance their needs but who both fall into despair when it falls apart.  They then have to build up their trust and work out a compromise if they are going to live and love together.

A must read BDSM that will confuse, bemuse, have your heart ache and make you want to smack Kasper and knock sense into him. It is a bit controversial as well because Logan was Kasper’s client when they started their relationship and I am still in two minds about it as on the one hand Kasper knew better and Logan was a client but on the other Logan was a Dom who pushed the boundaries when he saw a spark of interest in Kasper’s eyes at the mention of submission, so to me they are both to blame. I don’t believe that Kasper meant to break Logan’s trust but it was ingrained in him to use everything to become the best.

I will recommend this to everyone who loves any type of BDSM, angst and a wonderfully written story that will have you feeling sorry for these two lovely confused men.
