Review: I really wanted to love this story as I was taken in by the blurb but alas it fell flat for me. I felt there was too much too soon in the way of details, yet, at other times too little. It made for a frustrating read to me.
I did not get the incident about Nix getting his mark at fourteen when the story clearly stated it was not to happen until he was eighteen. There was a lot of character POV’s in this story. I felt bogged down at times trying to remember who was who. It honestly felt like several stories in one crammed into one book.
Aside from this the story was interesting as we meet four characters, Nix, Zandra, Riva and Eros not to mention Yoshio. That is a lot of characters all vying for their say and story in this book. I liked the interactions between each character though I felt at times that they tended to be drawn out and not know what they actually wanted.
I will probably reread this story at some point in the hopes it makes better sense to me than it did.

Now Zack’s popularity and success as a Dom might ruin Andrew’s dreams of collaring him, but he can’t wait any longer to confess his feelings or he risks losing the man he loves forever.
Review: When I first received this story I wasn’t too sure what to think about it. I have never really been into stories with BDSM and I was a bit leery at first with it. The BDSM is not really hardcore to me, but there are a lot of questions that were not answered. Also a lot of what happens in the story actually doesn’t sound right to me but it’s not really a bad thing I suppose. It is not really hardcore though.
Andrew and Zack met when Zack was eighteen years old. The attraction between them is very noticeable, but Andrew doesn’t want to mess things up with their brothers. Zack has this need and he wants Andrew to be the one to show him, to keep him. He wants to explore his desires to be a submissive. He had seen Andrew at the club and knew that Andrew would be the perfect man for him. Too bad he can’t get Andrew to agree.
Andrew sees Zack as a beautiful young man who he wants and needs. However after what had happened to his brother, he did not want to bring him any pain. However watching Zack at the club, he knows he has to do something. He is tired of watching him with others, and it is time to step up. He knows that the way he shut Zack down, that he had hurt the one man he wanted. He watched Zack push down his desires and became a dom instead. He also knew that was not what he wanted. So when Zack took the opportunity to sell himself, it is Andrew that needs to purchase him.
There is a lot of tension between these two. However the way the story was wrote out, just about drove me nuts. The story has a long and very slow build-up to get where they needed to be. Now for some it would play out perfect, however for me it made me loose interest in the story altogether. Even though the BDSM was not hardcore, it still came out like a porno story, which also brought it down in my eyes.
I could not get into the story like I should have. I also could not connect with the two men. I did not care for the pace nor the repetitive words that were used in the story. Both of these men did not come off a doms and the power was just not there. The club didn’t sound like any club I have ever heard of.
I am afraid that this is one story that I just didn’t care for or get into.

Review: I think I’m really starting to develop a passion for Yaoi, and this book hits the spot! There is plenty of heartache, drama, desperate people taking desperate measures, and of course beautiful boys and rock stars. This story has a rather deep plot, and serious drama and really painful situations for the usual Yaoi plot. This is great, because even though Yaoi is fun boy love, I love angst with my romance! The scenes involving autoerotic asphyxiation were seriously handled and the danger very real. I appreciate the authors attempt to get across to the audience the dangers inherent in such behavior. Another thing I enjoy about this type of storytelling is the way the author tries to get a Western audience to understand Eastern concepts of medicine, sexuality, family, tradition, and art, in many cases quite successfully. I also like how the BDSM elements develop from a rather natural progression, instead of the usual staged scenes and shallow temporary tricks.
So sure, pick up this well written tale of two beautiful boys finding love against all odds — but it’s deeper than that, and very rewarding! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
