Dax finally gets to see Kastain in all his glory— regal, confident, powerful and downright sexy. As events unfold, Dax and Kastain realize everything happening with the Derin, with Martellon, Nestor and Teriva, is linked. Their enemies draw closer and the plots and machinations of the Conclave deepen. They just need to work out who is behind it all and what they hope to gain.

The bond between the two leaders is stronger than they expected, and they long for rare times alone so they can explore it. Instead their time is taken up trying to work out which Chieftains they can count on and who is attempting to undermine them at every turn.

Review: Each book in the Avanti Chronicles collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This has got to be one of the best stories I have come across in quite a while. So much so that I can see me reading this series more than once. Hannah Walker has created a unique world that is not only full of love, but hate, betrayal, anger, lust, deceit, excitement, action, adventure and danger. There are not many long novels that I find that I can get into, but this is one that I could not put down. As soon as I got off work I started reading and kept it up all the way.

Teriva is up to no good once again. She couldn’t get what she wanted from the others so her plan is to go after the king. Too bad for her he king is protected by not only family but by the one who loves him. Dax and the others are slowly realizing that all that is going on is connected. From the attacks on the villages, to Teriva and Nester’s plots. However they don’t take in account that the Avanti will do everything in their power to keep everyone safe. Now all they have to do is to find out who is behind it all.

This story was an amazing addition to the series and I was glad to have had a chance to read it. I love that the king doesn’t care who thinks what, when he falls in love with not just a man but an outworlder. They are strong in more ways than one, but they are able to let their shields down and show emotion, pain and fears. The way these guys have grown has been amazing and I was absolutely happy when Hunter and Bell’s family is being brought to them. I also think I know the answer to who is behind it, but we will see.

These guys were perfect as were the others. This is one series where all the characters are needed to make the whole story rock. I love how they are all equal even when in the story they really are not. I mean you have king that is just another man to the others and that makes it even better. Not to mention his sister rocks.

The only part I hated was the death of one my hottie guys. I really don’t think that part was needed and I think he should have been saved. It brought the book down in my eyes. However other than that little issue this is one story that I will definitely read over and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Blurb: Jeremy Linden’s a PhD student researching an HIV vaccine. He’s always short of money, and when biotech startup PharmaTek reduces funding for his fellowship, he’s tempted to take a job at a men’s dining club as a serving boy. The uniforms are skimpy, and he’s expected to remove an item of clothing after each course. He can handle that, but he soon discovers there’s more on the menu here than fine cuisine. How far will he go to pay his tuition, and will money get in the way when he realizes he’s interested in more from one of his gentlemen?

Review: Jeremy is trying to get his Ph.D. Money is tight, and he isn’t getting near enough tutoring jobs. With funding at his lab getting reduced, Jeremy takes an offer from men’s Dining club to help make ends meet. All he has to do is wear skimpy clothing, take off one piece at each course, as he serves wealthy men. Anything else ‘on the menu or night caps’ is strictly up to him. When he sees his first client, he thinks that a little play may not be too bad.

Brice, ‘Mr. Green’, wasn’t too keen at going to the dining club with his associate the first time until he met his serving bo. He found he could get used to  having Remmy wait on him.  The next time he has to take a client he chooses a different boy so he doesn’t get hung up on a guy that is working and having sex with men for money. Seeing Remmy with another man,  Brice knows he is already in too deep.

I loved this story. It’s charming, sweet and sexy.  The characters are well-developed, and the concept of the dirty dining is interesting. I would love to see each serving boy’s story!

I got lost in the narration, and before I knew it, my book had ended.  I think I could have listened to another two or three hours!

If you like fast-paced romances, a rags to riches story, hot lawyers, sexy men for pay, gentlemen’s clubs and some very hot man-sex this is for you!

Review: Nate and Dusty have loved each other since their stint in the military, though both men have kept this a secret. When Kyle their other best friend married, both Dusty and Nate start thinking about their lives and wanting what Kyle has.  When bombs start hitting first responders both Dusty and Nate, realize they may lose more than a friend.

Bombs and Guacamole is one of B.A. Tortugas best works yet. The story started out funny from the first page. I laughed so much in this book. I cheered on Nate and Dusty to get together and held my breath every time there was another bombing. This book has it all. A great romance, a bit of mystery and suspense, enough humor to lighten that and lets not forget some hot man-sex.

If you are looking for a book to make you laugh, a feel good romance, some suspense, and just the right amount of loving, I recommend this. I will warn you, once you start you won’t want to put it down.

Blurb: Slinging burgers in Minnesota in the dead of winter isn’t exactly the Hemingway lifestyle aspiring writer Heath has dreamed of. About the only thing the quick-witted wordsmith has going for him is his pick-up hockey league games every Saturday. Now it looks like even that’s gone south, along with the team’s AWOL goalie.

That is until mysterious Wyatt Dickenson skates into town and announces that he can tend net. Heath isn’t the type to turn down such a generous offer from a Greek god with impressive equipment and all the right moves.

Heath offers to share his rented room with the enigmatic drifter, and soon begins to suspect that Wyatt is harboring a secret. Can Heath get Wyatt to open up about his dark past? Is there a dark past? Or is Heath’s writer’s mind just spinning sexy, shadowy scenarios about the mystery man who has him so infatuated?

Review: I love nothing more than reading a book that involves two hot athletes – I have an even bigger soft spot when these athletes are a couple of good-looking ice hockey players with a sizzling attraction between them. We get a great helping of just that here in V.L. Locey’s newest novella, Shutdown Pair.

The story follows Heath – he may not have a glamorous career, he works in a fast food restaurant and is an aspiring bestselling author – but he is passionate about ice hockey. He plays on an amateur team in Minnesota and their goalie has disappeared, out of desperation and not wanting to forfeit their game, Heath has no option but to take on the mysterious Wyatt, who just happens to be in the stands and volunteers to play goalie.

Wyatt has a few secrets of his own, but now he is happy to get to know Heath and willing takes the support and help that Heath offers him.

This is a relatively quick read. For me everything was wonderfully paced, the only thing that perhaps made me not enjoy the book as much as I could have would be that Wyatt’s secrets could have been far more dramatic. However, that would have made the book much longer.

People that don’t like insta-love will probably struggle with this one, as would people who savour mystery and suspense. However, people who are more than happy to go on a quick ride with two hot guys who play hockey with enough sexual tension to fill a room, with anything else in the plot being a bonus, go ahead and enjoy.

Blurb: Opposites really do attract.

Unlike the popular bank, Chase Whittaker has no money. However, living on the northwest side of Chicago in a rundown building with no car, and no savings hasn’t made him totally undesirable. His good looks and charm make up for everything he seems to lack. Still, it’s not enough to stop his landlord from threatening to sell the building where he owns the store his grandfather opened.

Micah Strickland is the child of famous football player Thomas Strickland and a ghostwriter. Though he’s never hurting for money, He can’t seem to find a man who wants the same things he does. Insecurities about being accepted as a gay and black man also prohibit him from being happy. When Micah visits Chase’s shop, the sparks fly almost immediately. Chase makes Micah feel special and seems to understand Micah’s battle with wanting to be accepted. But the possible relocation of the bookstore is a dark cloud over their budding romance.

Review: The first thing that caught my eye on this story was cover. Those two guys just smoke it up and damn they are nice to look at. Then there is the title and I have to say that it was right on spot for this cute story. I enjoyed the serious tone that it had but the humor is what had me going. I loved how the guys seemed a bit tongue-tied around each other in the first part. I also loved the fact that Micah’s best friend was pushing him just a tad in the beginning. It cracked me up.

Chase’s grandfather had owned the store that Chase was now running. It isn’t going as good as it should and he is close to losing the business. He is a sexy Adonis, but the man was broke. He had no car and no savings, so he feared he had no options. He wasn’t so sure if he would even have a good chance at Micah, but damn he was positive.

Micah’s father is the famous football player, so he has some big shoes to fill. He isn’t as sure of himself as he appears and is a bit insecure what with being gay and black. Then he walks into the shop with his best friend and finds himself staring at one sexy man. Each man has some issues that need to be dealt with, one being Chase’s shop. They need to show each other which is more important.

This was quite a bit of fun for me and I was glad to have had a chance to read this amazing story. It rocked and I loved how Chase was with the elderly man who lost his music in the fire. He might be messy as hell but his heart is big.

I loved this book and would definitely recommend it.

Review: This is the first book by this author that I have read, but had heard some amazing things about his books. I should have started with book one, but am grateful that I did not because I don’t care for females in my stories at all so when I found out about Jamie I didn’t much care to read it. Although she is a real fire cracker so I might be changing my mind.

I must admit the idea of vampire mysteries were a bit alluring. There are so many twists and turns to this story that I was definitely kept my attention, although the story jumped around so much that it ended up giving me a headache. I am afraid that all the added information and detail did the exact opposite of what it should have in my opinion. I kept trying to figure out how to skim over most of the story just to get to the good parts. There were so many characters that it just confused me even more.

Vinnie is at the station when his husband and friends decided to go find out who was behind Jean-Claude’s framing. They had saved his ass from death, when Vinnie proved he was not behind it. If he had been a few minutes earlier he would have been killed from the explosion that was set to kill them all. Now hidden they try to find out who was trying to kill them and who wanted to cause so much pain.

Now this was a pretty damn good book, but because of the added details and multiple characters it went down in ratings for me. It just seemed to jump from one scene to the next, from one dialog to another and ended up making me want to throw the book down and walk away. It had great potential, but in my eyes the author just went overboard with all the extras.

After reading this story it didn’t make me want to go read the first five stories I am afraid.

Review: Each book in the AURA collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This series has so many different types of paranormals in it that makes it absolutely unique to me. The worlds so fascinating and beautiful even though there are some dark spots to it. This world was created because of an accident that had happened at Berkley. It made our world merge with a world of magic and paranormal beings. It changed the way of life for everyone involved.

There are also a lot of different types of emotions put into this story and I found that it was enticing. Although there are some parts that I did not care for at all.

Ness is in love with Sin, but because Sin needs to feed on a female, he gives him what he needs. However it doesn’t make him like it. Now for me I didn’t really see the need for this in the book. It brought it down for me, because who wants a character to have to sleep with a female when we are all for men on men action.

Ness is a centaur but not like any one would know. He doesn’t act like the others and is damn sweet that you want to grab him and hug him. Now Sin is sad sometimes knowing that his feedings doesn’t make Ness feel good. However he truly loves Ness and shows it in other ways.

Then there is Kellen a cute little pixie that is being forced to serve a coven. A coven that wants to use his magic for evil. Now I must admit that I do like Kellen, Sin and Ness, but the way this book ended ruined the whole thing for me. I want Ness back with Sin and if you want Kellen then add him. Now I won’t go into detail because it will give the story away, but let’s just say it sucked.

I was happy with the way the book started but then it went downhill for me. So much so that I think I will skip the next book. It pissed me off but don’t get me wrong Kellen is a sweetie. I just didn’t like the twist that this book had at all. I do hope that in the next story they bring Ness back somehow. I absolutely hated this book but I suppose since it kept my attention I must read the next book.

It did its job though, caught my attention and kept me wanting for more of it.

In most packs, an Omega, even one who couldn’t breed, was treasured and would be revered and protected; not cast aside, but our pack was not like most packs, and I was not like most Omegas. I was human, so I understood why I was being sent to the auction. I didn’t like it, but I understood it. Even if there had been affection for me, even if they had been willing to keep me as a pet (neither of these was the case, but an Omega could dream), Cal couldn’t afford not to sell me.

Omegas were hard to come by worldwide. While I would have preferred to mate for love, it didn’t seem that it was in the cards for me. I had taken over as pack Alpha five years earlier, and it was high time that I started adding to the pack population. Granted my pack is run less rigidly than some; the Betas in my pack are not just allowed to breed but actively encouraged to.

Unfortunately, only a small number of Beta females are fertile enough to get pregnant, and I’ll be damned if I am going to hump my way through the pack until I find the ones who are. Which brought me full circle to why I was standing in line to pick up the bidding paddle at the auction house.

Less, even, than a marriage of convenience, purchasing an Omega at the auction was more of a long-term service contract; a means to an end, so what was an Alpha to do when he found his soul mate on the auction block?

Review: When I saw this story I knew that I had wanted to read it. Kian is a new author for me, and what made me even giddier was the fact that she only had two books out that I noticed. I was quite surprised by this because this story had so much detail and depth to such a short story in it. If she continues to write like this, then I can see myself purchasing more of her stories. I loved the characters quite a bit.

Trevor was a human omega and so far had not had his heat. He was to be sold to another pack for whatever they decided. Clint took not only one look at Trevor but his scent just about sent him into ecstasy. This man, this omega was his mate.

Now, this book doesn’t go through a full pregnancy, so I can’t wait to read the second book. What a great find.

I look forward to reading the next story and hope that it is not a long wait. This author has made a hit with me.

How to Howl at the Moon by Eli Easton ~ Audiobook

51Ck9S1kTrL._AA300_Title: How to Howl at the Moon

Series: Howl at the Moon, #1

Author: Eli Easton

Narrator: Matthew Shaw

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Length: 5 hours and 52 minutes

Publisher: Pinkerton Road (03-19-2015)

Heat Level: Moderate

Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts

Blurb: Sheriff Lance Beaufort is not going to let trouble into his town, no sir. Tucked away in the California Mountains, Mad Creek has secrets to keep, like the fact that half the town consists of ‘quickened’—dogs who have gained the ability to become human. Descended on both sides from Border Collies, Lance is as alert a guardian as they come.

Tim Weston is looking for a safe haven. After learning that his boss patented all of Tim’s work on vegetable hybrids in his own name, Tim quit his old job. A client offers him use of her cabin in Mad Creek, and Tim sees a chance for a new start. But the shy gardener has a way of fumbling and sounding like a liar around strangers, particularly gorgeous alpha men like Sheriff Beaufort.

Lance’s hackles are definitely raised by the lanky young stranger. He’s concerned about marijuana growers moving into Mad Creek, and he’s not satisfied with the boy’s story. Lance decides a bit of undercover work is called for. When Tim hits a beautiful black collie with his car and adopts the dog, its love at first sight for both Tim and Lance’s inner dog. Pretending to be a pet is about to get Sheriff Beaufort in very hot water.

Review: Tim Weston’s youth and naiveté have caused him a lot of pain in his life. He is in his early twenties and never had a positive role model. His father was abusive, his former boss a worthless liar and a thief.

So Tim quits his job, packs up and heads to Mad Creek where a friend is lending Tim her house for six months so he can work on some hybrid seeds for plants and vegetables. Right away he draws attention, since Mad Creek is a town full of shifters, Tim sort of sticks out like a sore thumb.

Sheriff Lance Beaufort has his doubts about Tim’s intentions from the start, so he befriends Tim in his shifter form, a border collie that Tim names Chance. In his shifter form, Lance can spy on the newcomer to see if he is up to no good.

The more time Lance spends with Tim, in both forms, the more attached he becomes. Things can’t help but end badly when Tim discovers that someone else he could care for has been lying to him.

Let me tell you how refreshing it was to read a story about something other than wolves. I love Easton’s unique take on the shifter world with the dogs, how some don’t manifest their first shift until later in life, and some have issues acclimating to the real world after being in their dog form for so long.

Even better than the unique story was the narration. My first listen with Matthew Shaw and I loved his take on the story. He literally dove into the characters, right down to every growl, howl and bark.

If you are looking for a fast, fun story that is both well written and entertaining, you should give this story a go.

Review: Each book in Wolves’ Heat collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

There is nothing better than a paranormal romance involving two gorgeous men. This is the second book by Odessa that I have read and I am still not really sure if I actually like it or not. The title was what caught my attention and made me want to take a look. I love anything paranormal. The blurb made me a bit hesitant in reading it because it comes off a bit dark to me.

Wolf and Salvadore are my favorite so far. They seem more in tune with each other and are very hot together. Wolf is a watcher whereas Salvadore is human. These two just seem to click better than the others. Salvadore might be human but he has something about him that is a bit different from many humans. He can tell when someone lies to him, which rocks.

This story moved forward a bit more than the others but there is still something missing in it. The blurb actually gives some away but I would definitely say you can’t read this without reading the first books. Now, I am still not certain if I actually like this series or not, but it was a bit more interesting than the others. I am afraid though that my attention wavered quite a bit with this book and didn’t keep it like it should have.

The story line for these stories are a lot more intriguing and unique that I was surprised that the follow through was not perfect. I do want to see what the next book has in it, but I am not rushing into it. For the first time, I am just not sure about these books. They come off a bit rushed and the narratives of the characters are not developing like they should.

I will wait and see about the next book.

Review: This is the second book in Dark Space.

I have to say I loved the entire book. It was great to see how Brady works through things throughout. Then Cam and Brady’s connection is restored only to discover it’s not quite right.

It was mind-boggling how well and deep this story takes the reader into understanding how the mind works in regards to relationships, tense situations, etc. I was impressed by how well the story flowed smoothly and the details throughout.

Intense, yet powerful. This book packs quite a punch. It keeps you reading until the very end.

The only thing I found I did not like was the cliffhanger at the end, as I have not heard anything about a third book. I certainly hope there will be though, if not for anything else to answer questions that were unanswered.
