Blurb: Doss Callaway had never dreamed he’d have a family since he was basically infertile. After all, what Alpha would want an Omega who couldn’t father a child? It was why he’d become an obstetrician, to help other Omegas find a way to have the life he would never have.
Landon Odell had been forced to put his carefree life on hold when his parents had died and he’d become the guardian to his three-year-old baby brother. Now that his brother was grown, Landon hoped to never have that kind of responsibility again.
Fate had other plans for these two. The only problem – so does the Hart’s Medical Center stalker and accomplice. Will Doss and Landon be able to find a future together, or will one of them die when the stalker kills for the first time?
Warning: Rape is involved in this story, although the actual act is off screen. Although each couple in this series gets their own HEA, you should read the entire series for the ongoing story arc!
Review: Dr. Doss Calloways has a busy life. He loves his job of delivering babies and helping omegas. When he’s called to the emergency room to treat a raped omega he jumps to conclusions when the omega’s, Braccen, brother barges in demanding answers. Alpha Landon has been raising Braccen sine their parents deaths when Braccen was only three.
Braccen was promised to an alpha name Yurick who took matters into his own hands after being refused Braccen’s hand by Landon. This is where Doss and Landon meet and Landon learns of the stalkers. In an attempt to keep Braccen safe they move in with Doss.
The stalkers begin rearing their heads and finally we find out at least who one of the stalkers is.
Intense and scary good. I liked that the story was not as focused on the couple in this one. There were a lot of moving parts that brought this story to life.
Blurb: The moment Soren Larsen first saw Cillian he knew they were meant to be together. Convincing Cillian would be tough, but Soren was willing to put in the work to woo him. That was assuming the stalker didn’t kill Cillian first.
Cillian Driscoll had never thought too much about love. His career working in the emergency room as a physician’s assistant was too important to him to worry about the future. Then he got his first threat from the hospital’s stalker. He might have thought he was too independent to need an Alpha, but being in Soren’s arms was the only place he felt safe.
The stalker’s plan to kill the Omegas of Hart’s Medical Center is cunning. No one is safe. But the stalker’s victims and their husbands refuse to give up hope.
Can love really conquer all? Soren and Cillian will test that theory as they try to stop the stalker before it’s too late.
Author’s Note: This is the last book in the Hart Medical Center Series.
Review: The stalker steps up their plans in this suspense filled story with mutiple attacks and some deaths. Cillian is on the stalkers radar and the chief of police Soren takes it upon himself to keep the man safe. But with the stalker still out there and unknown is anyone safe?
Oh my god this story was amazing. I was wrong in my guesses about who the stalker was. But I’m glad they finally found out who it was. My mind was blown by how many people helped this person in their revenge plans. I was disgusted with all who were involved with them.
Cillian and Soren were a delight to read about. I was intrigued by Soren’s family background as well as his fierce determination to keep Cillian safe. I’m really sad to see the series end as it was so good following the investigation and the clues.
Blurb: Dr. Oliver Pierce always thought Omegas weren’t worth his time. He’d even fought hospital management to keep Omegas from working there. But what if he was wrong? It was something he’d never imagined possible. That was, until he met Anson.
Anson Shaw had barely managed to get free from his ex-husband alive. After months of therapy he’d decided it wasn’t worth being under the thumb of an Alpha. But then he met Oliver. Everyone told Anson to stay away from him, yet despite their warnings he found himself being drawn to the Alpha.
Can an Alpha really change? Is it possible for an Omega to stand up to an Alpha and demand respect? When the Hart’s Medical Center stalker comes after Anson, both men search their hearts to find if love is worth the risk.
Warning: Triggers possible for shooting as well as gruesome notes left for the stalker’s victims..
Review: I admit I could not stand Oliver throughout the series for the way he felt about omegas. But once he met Anson everything changed for him. The stalker is scary crazy as he or she attacked Anson. I loved how everyone rallied around Anson and helped. Oliver telling Kelby off in a way had me shouting for joy as I can not stand her.
Oliver comes a long way from his thinking omegas are beneath him. But the two highlight for me were when Anson marches into the chief of police’s office to inform him of what he thought about his lead of detectives ignoring a stalker, which helped the chief realize the bigotry going on under his nose. The second was the hilarious incident when Anson was on bedrest and farting scene.
Delightful addition to the series. Fantastic read.
Blurb: Ronan Hart had done everything he could think of to save his family’s hospital, but he knew he was failing. Desperate, he went out on a limb and hired an Omega who everyone claimed was unconventional to help him. Little did he know that ‘unconventional’ meant insane, or that he’d willingly fall down the man’s rabbit hole to be with him.
Shale Baker did things his own way. He believed that everyone should be treated equally, even Omegas like him. If it required kicking down doors, blowing things up, or something completely out of the box, like Tiptoeing Through a Minefield. He was prepared to take on the world to make it a just place, but he hadn’t ever imagined what would happen to all his careful planning when he fell in love.
These two obstinate men must find a way to compromise before it’s too late. It isn’t just a happily ever after they are fighting for, but their very lives.
Warning: Hijinx and mayhem abound as Shale comes up with one crazy plan after another to catch a stalker. There are no limits when it comes to Shale’s imagination, or the stalker’s determination to make him pay.
PLEASE NOTE: Although each couple gets their very own HEA, this series should be read in order for maximum enjoyment!.
Review: Ronan and Shale have been dancing around each other since Shale was first hired at Hart medical Center. Shale has done his best to improve the hospital’s atmosphere as well as those employed. But things are not easy. I loved this story. Shale was fierce in his determination to find out who the stalker is. but at the same time he should have been careful.
I really enjoy this series and waiting for the clues to the final reveal as to who the stalker is. I have my suspicions as to who it is but only time will tell if I’m right or not. Amazing story with romance, danger, suspense, mystery and love.
Blurb: In an Alpha dominated world, Oslo Hall had to fight for his right to make a living for himself. It wasn’t always easy, but since he’d grown up with parents who had to work multiple jobs to put food on the table, he was used to working hard. But that left little time for things like love. Oh, he’d tried. He’d even gotten married, but it wasn’t until the divorce that he realized, he’d never been in love with his husband. Too bad he hadn’t discovered that until after he’d gotten pregnant.
Bradford Radcliff had spent his entire career fighting for the rights of Omegas in family court. He was proud of the work he’s done. But it wasn’t until he met Oslo Hall, who might lose his unborn child if the Alpha father decided to demand custody, that Bradford realized just how important it was to win. The thought of Oslo having to give up his own child was more than Bradford could bear, especially since somewhere along the way he’d fallen in love with both Oslo and his unborn child.
If only that were all that was against them, they might stand a chance. But the Hart’s Medical Center stalker has targeted Oslo and the threats had them both terrified, especially when Shale decides he’s going to try and catch the stalker using Oslo as bait.
Warning: Graphic threats made by a stalker.
PLEASE NOTE: Although each book focuses on a different couple, and they all have HEAs, this series is better enjoyed when read in order! Join us in trying to figure out who the stalker is!.
Review: Bradford finally meets the one for him in Oslo Hall. I loved these two together. Oslo is now on the stalkers radar and Bradford wants to help keep the man safe. I loved how Bradford does not think twice about stepping in Oslo’s defense or protection.
Amazing addition to the series that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Danger, bigoted stalker/s, romance, suspense and romance are all in abundance in this story.
Blurb: Case Weber has been riddled with guilt for his whole adult existence. One act changed the course of his life, causing him to believe he didn’t deserve to find his happily ever after.
Alaric Sutton had always been a bit of an ass. He’d never considered it a problem until things at Hart Medical Center started to change. But it wasn’t until Case Weber yelled at him that Alaric realized it wasn’t okay for him to treat others with disrespect. His only problem? How did he change after all this time?
Deciding to ask for help, Alaric went to the one person who had stood up to him, Case Weber. Who would have thought that one request could transform his lonely existence into one with hope and a possible life with an Omega he respected?
But life has never been that simple. As the Hart Medical Center’s stalker goes after Case, can Alaric save him from the not so veiled threats? Will it even matter if he does if Case can’t forgive himself for his past?
Warning: Triggers of abuse and abortion are contained in this story. As well as a group of friends who will do whatever it takes to find this elusive stalker that has been plaguing the Omegas of Hart Medical Center.
Review: When Case is targeted by the stalker, Dr Alaric Sutton takes it upon himself to keep Case safe. Case has been through trying times both in his past and present so he is stunned when Alaric asks for his help in changing the way he speaks to people.
I loved this addition but I have a feeling I know who the stalker is. I just wish there was more clues. I loved Alaric and Case together. Alaric was always there whether Case needed him or not.
Blurb: As an Omega and a single father, Tenzin Patel knew his chances of finding love were slim to none. It didn’t help that the last Alpha he was married to took off and left him without a word. In their world, that meant a life of being alone. Not that it mattered, Tenzin wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to trust another Alpha not to screw him over.
There wasn’t much Dr. Emmett Gates hadn’t accomplished. As one of the country’s leading pediatric orthopedic surgeons, he was the epitome of success. If only he could find that one Omega in order to have the family he desperately wanted. That was proving harder to do than he imagined, especially when he compared all Omegas to the one he couldn’t have, Tenzin Patel, who not only was married but had kids. No way would he ever try to break apart a family, which left him alone.
When tragedy strikes and the two are thrown together, Emmett was thrilled to find out Tenzin was divorced. The only problem was the obstacles Tenzin had put in place to block him. Good thing Emmett was good at Hurdling Fences to get what he wanted.
Review: Tenzen has a secret that if found out could spell disaster. Dr. Gates has been attracted to Tenzen since first laying eyes on the man. Secrets are revealed when after Tenzen’s daughter is hurt that she is not his and his husband left.
I loved this story. The stalker has turned his/her sights on Tenzen and along with that the threat of his daughter being taken away. I loved how Emmett steps in to help Tenzen and the two grow closer.
It was an awesome read but I admit to wanting to know more about the stalker’s identity as I have my suspicions about who they might be.

Blurb: Detective Jamal Tuma was used to life not going his way. As an omega in an alpha dominated world, he’d experienced more than his fair share of bigotry when he’d decided to enter the police force. His life had been put in danger more times than he could count for no other reason than alphas above him thought it wouldn’t matter if he’d died on the job. Yet, in the six years he’d been a cop, he’d never come quite so close to death as he did when an alpha doctor didn’t feel it necessary to treat his gunshot wound.
Brace Jacobs had never given much thought to the omegas in their world. As a doctor, he’d taken an oath to heal, no matter their color, creed, sex, or even their omega status. But not everyone felt the way he did. It didn’t sit well with Brace, but he didn’t go out of his way to fix the problem, either. That was until Detective Jamal Tuma came through those doors and nearly died with Brace’s hands deep in his body as he fought to save the omega.
Warning: Hijinx and mayhem will ensue as these two fight the world around them, as well as their own ridiculous preconceived notions, as they hope to build a future together. But that might be easier said than done when there are stalkers, assholes, idiots, and one very determined Patient Care Coordinator, who will kick everyone’s ass while planning a circus, if that’s what it takes for them to begin Breaking Barriers.
Review: From the moment Brace meets an omega with a gunshot to the abdomen he has been at the man’s side waiting for him to come out of his coma. The new patient coordinator, Shale is a blast as he doesn’t crap from anyone. This was a delightful story to read with colorful characters, a mysterious stalker and alphas who are bigots trying hard to stop the changes implemented at the hospital.
I loved how Jamal stood up for himself even against Brace. He’s as fierce as Shale when he is determined about something. Jamal and Brace were off the charts cute together. Even though we still don’t know who the stalker is I enjoyed the story. I really felt for omegas as some alphas see them as less than. It really angered me that some police and doctors who are sworn to protect and serve everyone shun them.
I am honestly intrigued with this series so far and am looking forward to getting to know the characters more as the series progresses.
Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Wow. Life has tossed Graham a lot of curveballs, but he never expected to hear those words. Then, just as Graham and his fated mate, Hyden, are getting used to that amazing news, someone from Graham’s past returns and kidnaps him, threatening the very future they want to build. Turns out Graham is an Oletti, a bloodline of wolf shifters that seems to be part of an ancient prophecy, one that speaks of a hidden magical spring of water that can restore the earth and all that is in it. A power some would kill to possess. Except, in the wrong hands, it can also turn humans and shifters totally away from what, and who, they truly love, tearing families and even fated mates apart.
Unfortunately, Hyden has been forced to drink this water so no one is coming to rescue Graham. It’s now up to him to not only save himself, his unborn child and his fated mate, but very possibly the world as they know it. But superhero capes are hard to come by and he never liked himself much in tights. Still, with the help of his Oletti powers, this should be something he can do, right? Oh, Great Wolf, let this be something I can do…
Review: An excellent addition to the series that delves further into the Oletti’s background as well as Graham being in danger from those that want him for a specific purpose. I loved this suspenseful yet danger packed story. With Alpha Hyden trying to clean up Tenway to Graham being kidnapped.
This story has it all. I was in awe with the Oletti’s background as well as the interesting characters throughout the story both good and bad. My heart broke for what had been done to the Oletti’s out of greed.
This was the best book in the series as it answered many questions that remained from the first two books.

Warnings: mention of great death in the past, rape attempt, violence off book
“Nope. And that’s the last time you watch that movie before bed, baby boy.” Talos cut off Kikoi who pouted.
“Fine. Then tell me about when Uncle Majid finally stopped being so grumpy and murdery all the time.” Kikoi batted his thick eyelashes.
“Okay, I can tell you all about that. Well, I don’t think he’ll ever stop being murdery as you put it.” Talos settled into his customary story telling position.
“Some would say that story begins well over two thousand years ago when I first met my best friend and powerful unicorn shadow. Some others would say it started a little over a thousand years ago when tragedy struck. But I think it starts when my eldest brother, the crazy half-giant vampire that he is, retired and went on a quest for redemption.”
Kikoi draped himself across Talos as he closed his eyes.
“Little did Majid and Odin know that Fate sent a tough, smart, wasn’t going to take lip from them polar bear to cross their path when they needed it most…”
Majid’s best friend, Talos, has found his mate and finally recognized his lover of the past several hundred years as his other mate. The mate Majid had spent the last eleven hundred years trying to forgive was back in his life.
Will Majid rescue one mate only to lose the other? Or will the fierce polar bear, Siku, give him a chance to redeem himself?
Will Odin forgive himself for the actions that tore Majid from his life? And will the not so little bear find him to be a worthy mate? Or is he doomed to die on a quest for redemption?
Will Siku find his place not only within the relationship his mates clearly already have but also the entirely different world that is city life? Or is he just fooling himself that he can get over the wall between him and his mates?
Bloodlines of Fate is an urban fantasy series set in a world destroyed by humans and resurrected by supernatural beings. This book contains depictions of omega polar bears who will eat you in self-defense, sturdy hairbrushes that break naughty butts, timeouts for coloring and painting toes, and a family reunion for the history books.
Majid is part two of a two-part story arch that tells the love story of two triads (MMM). It is necessary to read Talos to fully enjoy this book that does end in a HEA despite bickering chefs who try to burn the estate down.

Blurb: Meeting your fated mate doesn’t automatically lead to mated bliss.
Sonny is settling into mated life with Leo, but as wonderful as it is, something is missing. While shifters claim their mates with a bite, witches have a whole different set of traditions. He tries to convince himself that he doesn’t need them, but as Imbolc draws closer, Sonny finds himself longing for the handfasting he dreamed of as a child.
Leo and his inner bear are quite content in their mating. Yes, Sonny does seem a little grumpier than usual and he does rant an awful lot about the commercialism of Valentine’s Day overshadowing the Witches’ holiday of Imbolc, but everyone has a bad day once in a while, right?
When Leo suddenly discovers that there is a lot more to mating a witch than claiming him with a bite, he’s shocked at the amount of work ahead of him. Will Leo make the effort to give Sonny what he needs?
Review: I want a bunny dance. Sonny and Leo are mated in the shifter way, but Sonny has always wanted a mating in the witch’s way as well. He just never mentioned it to Leo and didn’t know how. Thankfully Leo’s sister has been paying attention and well it is going to be some fun times.
These guys are the best I have came across in awhile. There is quite a bit of humor in this that makes it stand out even more. Leo’s family is a family I would be proud of. Lets say that Sonny’s mom got what she deserved.
I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to see what the next story has going on. I can guarantee that this is going to be one of those stories read more than once.
Hi guys! We have J.S. Bright stopping by today with her new release Tuning The Guitarist, we have a great excerpt so check out the post and enjoy! ❤️ ~Pixie~

I can’t trust my past and relying on my future is no good either. Stopping in Seaside Bay is dangerous. I should move on, but I’m tired. Searching for food and a safe place to sleep consumes me until I land in Seaside Bay. The people here are too friendly. I should take off before someone finds out the truth. When I meet Mike, I know I can’t trust him, but he’s the safest person I’ve ever known.
Mike
My life turned upside down when I lost my hand, but moving to Seaside Bay might have saved me. From partying too hard to living the fast life, I was on a path to destruction. Seaside Bay has calmed me and convinced me I love the quiet life. Then Tim stumbles into my life, and everything gets upended. I’m lost without him close.
I’ll change everything for Tim. He’s got a load of heat on him, and I’m not sure I can save him once that heat comes down. Can I save Tim, or will his past consume him?
Blurb: Jason and Vale are back in this side story set in the Heat of Love universe!
A romantic getaway turns dramatic when an unexpected heat descends on Vale, leaving Jason with no choice but to act. The resulting pregnancy is dangerous for Vale and terrifying for Jason, but with the help of friends and family, they choose to embrace their uncertain future. Together they find all the love, joy, and heat they need to guide them through!
While this story follows the characters from Slow Heat, it will be most enjoyable if read directly after Alpha Heat, as it takes place contemporaneously with that book.
This is a gay romance novella by Leta Blake, consisting of 50,000 words of bonus material with a strong happy ending for the characters of Jason and Vale from Slow Heat. This bonus story is set in a critically acclaimed, non-shifter omegaverse, with alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting.
Review: Bitter Heat is the third book in Leta Blake’s Heat of Love series and is told from the perspective of Vale and Jason, who got together in the first book of this series (Slow Heat).
The events in this book start in book two, where it was told from the perspective of Xan, Urho and Caleb, but it is truly part of the story of Jason and Vale. As Blake writes, this book can been read after either the first or second book but it fits better after the second book. If you’ve at least read the first book in this series, Bitter Heat is a must.
I’ve been loving this series. I really liked the depth and character development Blake showed in her writing back in book one and that is something I’ve continued to see throughout this series. If anyone is interested in m-preg and has never tried reading anything yet, this is a good series to start with. The complex characters, deep emotions and rich development had me glued to my ereader.
This book is an Omegaverse book – which is where for one reason or another certain men (the Omegas) have developed the ability to become pregnant. However, since this a relatively recent change in human physiology, pregnancy for men is possibly more dangerous for the men than it had been on women. Due to these limitations, it also means that there are very strict laws dictating how omegas can deal with pregnancy (these laws are analogous to conservative anti-abortion laws which are being shown on the media now).
And that leads us to the continuation of Jason and Vale’s story. Jason and Vale have been together for a few years now and their relationship is strong. Jason is careful when it comes to Vale’s heats – not only is Vale a couple years off of 40, meaning pregnancy has an added factor of danger – but Vale has gone through some true horrors which means that even when he was younger he firmly believed that he could not have children. Jason’s parents have also recently renovated a cabin belonging to Vale, which had been his parents when they were alive. Vale and Jason came the decision to sell the cabin, as it is they already live modestly in the home Vale’s parents owned in the city. However, a blizzard and an unexpected heat – meaning that they did have access to enough birth control – means that Jason gets Vale pregnant.
Vale’s omega instincts and advice from his best friend and trusted doctor, Urho, gives Vale the courage to see if he can go through with the pregnancy to full term, knowing that there is every possibility he could die. As it is the omega laws make it next to impossible to access an abortion, even when the life of the omega father may hang in the balance. On the other hand Jason is afraid. He loves the idea of being a father, but after being with Vale for the past few years he came to terms with never becoming a father, not wanting to risk Vale’s life.
The couple face a difficult pregnancy, which is made more difficult when a influenza epidemic takes hold. Adding further danger to Vale’s pregnancy, a lot of medicine is ineffective at stopping the spread and the deaths from the flu (antibiotic resistance, I really like how Blake takes little elements like this and weaves them into the book). However, with both Vale and Jason ready and willing to support their friends (Uroho, Xan and Caleb), they find some measure of safety during the pregnancy.
Blurb: A desperate young alpha. An older alpha with a hero complex. A forbidden love that can’t be denied.
Young Xan Heelies knows he can never have what he truly wants: a passionate romance and happy-ever-after with another alpha. It’s not only forbidden by the prevailing faith of the land, but such acts are illegal.
Urho Chase is a middle-aged alpha with a heartbreaking past. Careful, controlled, and steadfast, his friends dub him old-fashioned and staid. When Urho discovers a dangerous side to Xan’s life that he never imagined, his world is rocked and he’s consumed by desire. The carefully sewn seams that held him together after the loss of his omega and son come apart—and so does he.
But to love each other and make a life together, Xan and Urho risk utter ruin. With the acceptance and support of Caleb, Xan’s asexual and aromantic omega and dear friend, they must find the strength to embrace danger and build the family they deserve.
This gay romance novel by Leta Blake is the second in the Slow Heat universe. It’s 130,000 words, with a strong happy ending and a well-crafted, non-shifter Omegaverse. It features alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. No cheating. Content warning for brief sexual violence.
Review: Alpha Heat is the second book in Leta Blake’s Heat of Love series. It takes place a couple years after the first book and there are some ongoing plot lines which makes this best to read the series in order.
After really enjoying the first book of this series I really looking forward to continuing on with the series. I really like the depth and character development Blake showed in her writing back in book one. On top of that, I have discovered a relatively recent interest for reading m-pregs. M-preg is a pretty niche sub-genre in the MM world, and so it goes without saying that if you don’t like m-pregs or it doesn’t pique your interest enough to give it a go, this isn’t the books for you.
This book is an Omegaverse book – which is where for one reason or another certain men (the Omegas) have developed the ability to become pregnant. Despite not being a shapeshifter or paranormal m-preg, we still get the interesting connection between alphas and omegas which allows men to sense their true mate. In this world women became infertile and eventually died out, forcing humanity to adapt, hence the omegas.
However, this current deals with complexities of alphas and shows that alphas that find pleasure in being dominated rather than dominating an omega. Xan is one of those alphas and society tells him that he has to be ashamed of what he is – his desires cause gossip because many traditionalist believed that men with his desires are not real alphas.
Xan has struggled his since best friend, ex-lover and alpha mated an older omega a few years prior. He has struggled with society gossip of him being “unmanned” – the term for an alpha who needs to be dominated which is seen as unnatural. But he is part of an odd little friendship group that involves the alpha who had once upon a time helped his best friend’s Omega through painful heats. Pressure from his family and luck led him to entering a mating contract with an omega who was gossiped about in society.
Caleb is an omega with a secret of his own. Unlike his mate, Caleb accepts who is and has gone years being known as a frigid omega. However, other than going through heats where his hormones take over, and even wanting have a child of his own, Caleb does not experience sexual attraction as a “good omega should”. This gives the pair two problems. Xan needs to seek physical need for another alpha elsewhere, and because of how he is, Xan cannot physically fulfil Caleb’s needs when he is in heat.
This is where alpha Urho Chase steps in. He is a doctor who has compassion in spades. He finds it abhorrent that omegas must go through pregnancy because the law it geared towards omegas pumping out babies and boosting the population. He has been in mourning for years for his omega mate and son who had died. Yet he isn’t living in the past. He has “helped” a number of omegas through their painful heats which are only relieved by having sex with powerful alphas. His best friend, Vale being one of the many omegas he has helped. Urho finds it difficult to reconcile his attraction and acceptance for another alpha, when it comes to Xan’s desires and needs. Yet he feels protective of the omega who exists in the body of an alpha. And when he finds Xan hurt, he needs to help.
Much like the first book, these characters are all just a tad different and will intrigue some readers that want something a little more different than the normal. Because yes, even in the Omegaverse there are a lot of common tropes. First off, we get the same issues with an age gap between the alpha and the omega, where there is an older omega although the age difference isn’t quite so pronounced as in book 1. The omega involved identifies as something close to asexuality (maybe I’ve interpreted that wrong but that’s how I see it), while the alpha is ashamed as he needs another alpha to sexually dominate him. And while this isn’t truly a ménage relationship – there is something similar to one going on here.
Overall, this makes for some very interesting dynamics and brings together an unconventional mating/family that really does work. There are exploding sparks of sexual attraction between Urho and Xan, and yet there is also a deep affection between and love between Xan and Caleb, with affection slowly growing between Urho and Caleb. Urho and Caleb start out together for their united desire to help Xan, but you can feel that there is an emotional connection between them much like the one between Xan and Caleb. This is truly a complex story line with a lot going on and I loved it.
Blurb: Sonny and Leo are settling into their relationship, but there are just a couple of problems. Leo hasn’t claimed Sonny as his mate, and Sonny hasn’t met Leo’s family. Sonny may be a talented kitchen witch that can make perfect honey cakes, but he can’t read his bear’s mind. All he knows is that Leo isn’t acting like a shifter that has found his mate.
Every day, Leo fights with his bear about claiming Sonny. A long courtship isn’t something that shifters usually do, but Sonny is a witch, not a bear shifter. Leo doesn’t want to move too fast and scare his mate off. Then there’s his family. He knows if his family gets a whiff of their relationship, they’ll descend like the pack of bears they are. Leo is learning to be more confident in himself, but he’s afraid to take a chance and ruin the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
A family gathering to celebrate Christmas and the winter solstice may change everything. Well, it might if annoying siblings, self-doubt, and powerful eggnog doesn’t ruin it all.
Review: Sonny and Leo are mates but neither has told the other. Sonny is afraid that it might not be true since Leo didn’t introduce him to his family, however Leo is afraid his family will run his mate off. Sonny is a witch where Leo is a bear shifter, and never mention honey cakes to a bear shifter.
These two are so cute that it isn’t the honey cakes that gives one cavities. Leo’s family could jump of a bridge the way they act towards Sonny. It is a good holiday little story that will be read many times over.
I enjoyed it quite a bit and can guarantee that it is one of those stories that will be read many times over. I just wished it was longer.
Blurb: A lustful young alpha meets his match in an older omega with a past.
Professor Vale Aman has crafted a good life for himself. An unbonded omega in his mid-thirties, he’s long since given up hope that he’ll meet a compatible alpha, let alone his destined mate. He’s fulfilled by his career, his poetry, his cat, and his friends.
When Jason Sabel, a much younger alpha, imprints on Vale in a shocking and public way, longings are ignited that can’t be ignored. Fighting their strong sexual urges, Jason and Vale must agree to contract with each other before they can consummate their passion.
But for Vale, being with Jason means giving up his independence and placing his future in the hands of an untested alpha–as well as facing the scars of his own tumultuous past. He isn’t sure it’s worth it. But Jason isn’t giving up his destined mate without a fight.
This is a gay romance novel, 118,000 words, with a strong happy ending, as well as a well-crafted, non-shifter omegaverse, with alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. Content warning for pregnancy loss and aftermath.
Review: Slow Heat is the first book in Leta Blake’s Heat of Love series.
I’m not overly familiar with Blake’s work. I’ve read one other book by her, and that one wasn’t even m-preg (male pregnancy). But I have discovered a relatively recent interest for reading m-pregs. M-preg is a pretty niche sub-genre in the MM world, and so it goes without saying that if you don’t like m-pregs or it doesn’t pique your interest enough to give it a go, this isn’t the books for you.
However, I have heard good things about this series and I looked forward to reading it. Something else that I think will interest people is that not only does this story feature a couple with an age gap (about 12 years?), it is the omega who is the older of the couple, rather than the alpha. This is something common in May- December type romances of any genre, the perceived weaker character, or the bottom, is usually younger than the dominant partner.
The story starts with young alpha Jason Sabel. Jason is from a very well to do family and is the only child of his alpha and omega fathers. His fathers are quite traditional too. So things get interesting when Jason, while on campus of his university, finds the omega that is his true mate.
The complication is that this omega, Vale Aman, is a thirty-something year old professor who has never found his alpha mate. Vale also has an interesting and mysterious past, which he still needs to come to terms with, as well as come clean to Jason. Although nothing seems to be stopping Jason.
Courting the older omega according to tradition is a steep learning curve for the twenty-something year old alpha. On top of that, finding his mate means that he is also discovering some truths when it comes to omegas and their physiology that allows for pregnancy. Being so young, Vale doesn’t want to tie Jason to a relationship where if he could even get pregnant could kill Vale, if not any child as well. Jason needs to convince Vale and it seems his friends and parents, that Vale is the man that Jason needs in his life.
This is a fantastic start to the series. I loved the two characters, their differences (and not just their ages) make them fascinating and their sparking attraction is on point. I like that there isn’t any strong feeling of insta-love, there is even talk that the men won’t suit, so we get to see the relationship evolve in a more believable manner. The emotion that develops between and the complexity of their friendships makes their courtship realistic despite having the true mate connection.
