Blurb: Jason and Vale are back in this side story set in the Heat of Love universe!

A romantic getaway turns dramatic when an unexpected heat descends on Vale, leaving Jason with no choice but to act. The resulting pregnancy is dangerous for Vale and terrifying for Jason, but with the help of friends and family, they choose to embrace their uncertain future. Together they find all the love, joy, and heat they need to guide them through!

While this story follows the characters from Slow Heat, it will be most enjoyable if read directly after Alpha Heat, as it takes place contemporaneously with that book.

This is a gay romance novella by Leta Blake, consisting of 50,000 words of bonus material with a strong happy ending for the characters of Jason and Vale from Slow Heat. This bonus story is set in a critically acclaimed, non-shifter omegaverse, with alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting.

Review: Bitter Heat is the third book in Leta Blake’s Heat of Love series and is told from the perspective of Vale and Jason, who got together in the first book of this series (Slow Heat).

The events in this book start in book two, where it was told from the perspective of Xan, Urho and Caleb, but it is truly part of the story of Jason and Vale. As Blake writes, this book can been read after either the first or second book but it fits better after the second book. If you’ve at least read the first book in this series, Bitter Heat is a must.

I’ve been loving this series. I really liked the depth and character development Blake showed in her writing back in book one and that is something I’ve continued to see throughout this series. If anyone is interested in m-preg and has never tried reading anything yet, this is a good series to start with. The complex characters, deep emotions and rich development had me glued to my ereader.

This book is an Omegaverse book – which is where for one reason or another certain men (the Omegas) have developed the ability to become pregnant. However, since this a relatively recent change in human physiology, pregnancy for men is possibly more dangerous for the men than it had been on women. Due to these limitations, it also means that there are very strict laws dictating how omegas can deal with pregnancy (these laws are analogous to conservative anti-abortion laws which are being shown on the media now).

And that leads us to the continuation of Jason and Vale’s story. Jason and Vale have been together for a few years now and their relationship is strong. Jason is careful when it comes to Vale’s heats – not only is Vale a couple years off of 40, meaning pregnancy has an added factor of danger – but Vale has gone through some true horrors which means that even when he was younger he firmly believed that he could not have children. Jason’s parents have also recently renovated a cabin belonging to Vale, which had been his parents when they were alive. Vale and Jason came the decision to sell the cabin, as it is they already live modestly in the home Vale’s parents owned in the city. However, a blizzard and an unexpected heat – meaning that they did have access to enough birth control – means that Jason gets Vale pregnant.

Vale’s omega instincts and advice from his best friend and trusted doctor, Urho, gives Vale the courage to see if he can go through with the pregnancy to full term, knowing that there is every possibility he could die. As it is the omega laws make it next to impossible to access an abortion, even when the life of the omega father may hang in the balance. On the other hand Jason is afraid. He loves the idea of being a father, but after being with Vale for the past few years he came to terms with never becoming a father, not wanting to risk Vale’s life.

The couple face a difficult pregnancy, which is made more difficult when a influenza epidemic takes hold. Adding further danger to Vale’s pregnancy, a lot of medicine is ineffective at stopping the spread and the deaths from the flu (antibiotic resistance, I really like how Blake takes little elements like this and weaves them into the book). However, with both Vale and Jason ready and willing to support their friends (Uroho, Xan and Caleb), they find some measure of safety during the pregnancy.

Blurb: A desperate young alpha. An older alpha with a hero complex. A forbidden love that can’t be denied.

Young Xan Heelies knows he can never have what he truly wants: a passionate romance and happy-ever-after with another alpha. It’s not only forbidden by the prevailing faith of the land, but such acts are illegal.

Urho Chase is a middle-aged alpha with a heartbreaking past. Careful, controlled, and steadfast, his friends dub him old-fashioned and staid. When Urho discovers a dangerous side to Xan’s life that he never imagined, his world is rocked and he’s consumed by desire. The carefully sewn seams that held him together after the loss of his omega and son come apart—and so does he.

But to love each other and make a life together, Xan and Urho risk utter ruin. With the acceptance and support of Caleb, Xan’s asexual and aromantic omega and dear friend, they must find the strength to embrace danger and build the family they deserve.

This gay romance novel by Leta Blake is the second in the Slow Heat universe. It’s 130,000 words, with a strong happy ending and a well-crafted, non-shifter Omegaverse. It features alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. No cheating. Content warning for brief sexual violence.

Review: Alpha Heat is the second book in Leta Blake’s Heat of Love series. It takes place a couple years after the first book and there are some ongoing plot lines which makes this best to read the series in order.

After really enjoying the first book of this series I really looking forward to continuing on with the series. I really like the depth and character development Blake showed in her writing back in book one. On top of that, I have discovered a relatively recent interest for reading m-pregs. M-preg is a pretty niche sub-genre in the MM world, and so it goes without saying that if you don’t like m-pregs or it doesn’t pique your interest enough to give it a go, this isn’t the books for you.

This book is an Omegaverse book – which is where for one reason or another certain men (the Omegas) have developed the ability to become pregnant. Despite not being a shapeshifter or paranormal m-preg, we still get the interesting connection between alphas and omegas which allows men to sense their true mate. In this world women became infertile and eventually died out, forcing humanity to adapt, hence the omegas.

However, this current deals with complexities of alphas and shows that alphas that find pleasure in being dominated rather than dominating an omega. Xan is one of those alphas and society tells him that he has to be ashamed of what he is – his desires cause gossip because many traditionalist believed that men with his desires are not real alphas.

Xan has struggled his since best friend, ex-lover and alpha mated an older omega a few years prior. He has struggled with society gossip of him being “unmanned” – the term for an alpha who needs to be dominated which is seen as unnatural. But he is part of an odd little friendship group that involves the alpha who had once upon a time helped his best friend’s Omega through painful heats. Pressure from his family and luck led him to entering a mating contract with an omega who was gossiped about in society.

Caleb is an omega with a secret of his own. Unlike his mate, Caleb accepts who is and has gone years being known as a frigid omega. However, other than going through heats where his hormones take over, and even wanting have a child of his own, Caleb does not experience sexual attraction as a “good omega should”. This gives the pair two problems. Xan needs to seek physical need for another alpha elsewhere, and because of how he is, Xan cannot physically fulfil Caleb’s needs when he is in heat.

This is where alpha Urho Chase steps in. He is a doctor who has compassion in spades. He finds it abhorrent that omegas must go through pregnancy because the law it geared towards omegas pumping out babies and boosting the population. He has been in mourning for years for his omega mate and son who had died. Yet he isn’t living in the past. He has “helped” a number of omegas through their painful heats which are only relieved by having sex with powerful alphas. His best friend, Vale being one of the many omegas he has helped. Urho finds it difficult to reconcile his attraction and acceptance for another alpha, when it comes to Xan’s desires and needs. Yet he feels protective of the omega who exists in the body of an alpha. And when he finds Xan hurt, he needs to help.

Much like the first book, these characters are all just a tad different and will intrigue some readers that want something a little more different than the normal. Because yes, even in the Omegaverse there are a lot of common tropes. First off, we get the same issues with an age gap between the alpha and the omega, where there is an older omega although the age difference isn’t quite so pronounced as in book 1. The omega involved identifies as something close to asexuality (maybe I’ve interpreted that wrong but that’s how I see it), while the alpha is ashamed as he needs another alpha to sexually dominate him. And while this isn’t truly a ménage relationship – there is something similar to one going on here.

Overall, this makes for some very interesting dynamics and brings together an unconventional mating/family that really does work. There are exploding sparks of sexual attraction between Urho and Xan, and yet there is also a deep affection between and love between Xan and Caleb, with affection slowly growing between Urho and Caleb. Urho and Caleb start out together for their united desire to help Xan, but you can feel that there is an emotional connection between them much like the one between Xan and Caleb. This is truly a complex story line with a lot going on and I loved it.

Blurb: A lustful young alpha meets his match in an older omega with a past.

Professor Vale Aman has crafted a good life for himself. An unbonded omega in his mid-thirties, he’s long since given up hope that he’ll meet a compatible alpha, let alone his destined mate. He’s fulfilled by his career, his poetry, his cat, and his friends.

When Jason Sabel, a much younger alpha, imprints on Vale in a shocking and public way, longings are ignited that can’t be ignored. Fighting their strong sexual urges, Jason and Vale must agree to contract with each other before they can consummate their passion.

But for Vale, being with Jason means giving up his independence and placing his future in the hands of an untested alpha–as well as facing the scars of his own tumultuous past. He isn’t sure it’s worth it. But Jason isn’t giving up his destined mate without a fight.

This is a gay romance novel, 118,000 words, with a strong happy ending, as well as a well-crafted, non-shifter omegaverse, with alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. Content warning for pregnancy loss and aftermath.

Review: Slow Heat is the first book in Leta Blake’s Heat of Love series.

I’m not overly familiar with Blake’s work. I’ve read one other book by her, and that one wasn’t even m-preg (male pregnancy). But I have discovered a relatively recent interest for reading m-pregs. M-preg is a pretty niche sub-genre in the MM world, and so it goes without saying that if you don’t like m-pregs or it doesn’t pique your interest enough to give it a go, this isn’t the books for you.

However, I have heard good things about this series and I looked forward to reading it. Something else that I think will interest people is that not only does this story feature a couple with an age gap (about 12 years?), it is the omega who is the older of the couple, rather than the alpha. This is something common in May- December type romances of any genre, the perceived weaker character, or the bottom, is usually younger than the dominant partner.

The story starts with young alpha Jason Sabel. Jason is from a very well to do family and is the only child of his alpha and omega fathers. His fathers are quite traditional too. So things get interesting when Jason, while on campus of his university, finds the omega that is his true mate.

The complication is that this omega, Vale Aman, is a thirty-something year old professor who has never found his alpha mate. Vale also has an interesting and mysterious past, which he still needs to come to terms with, as well as come clean to Jason. Although nothing seems to be stopping Jason.

Courting the older omega according to tradition is a steep learning curve for the twenty-something year old alpha. On top of that, finding his mate means that he is also discovering some truths when it comes to omegas and their physiology that allows for pregnancy. Being so young, Vale doesn’t want to tie Jason to a relationship where if he could even get pregnant could kill Vale, if not any child as well. Jason needs to convince Vale and it seems his friends and parents, that Vale is the man that Jason needs in his life.

This is a fantastic start to the series. I loved the two characters, their differences (and not just their ages) make them fascinating and their sparking attraction is on point. I like that there isn’t any strong feeling of insta-love, there is even talk that the men won’t suit, so we get to see the relationship evolve in a more believable manner. The emotion that develops between and the complexity of their friendships makes their courtship realistic despite having the true mate connection.

Review: A deeper read than I thought. I started with this audiobook not having read the first in the series. I’m very impressed with Michael Ferraiuolo’s narration, he delivers the right amount of passion, a variety of voices/characterizations and good tempo.

There are lots of layers to this story, set in a non-shifter Omegaverse. The world the story is set in involves status/social positions of Omega, Beta, and Alpha, and an interesting concept of being unmanned, which is what I came to learn of as “gay” for an Alpha, to be in the submissive position.
Readers are reintroduced to other couples from book one, and we get a good feel for the fact that all of the relationships in this series somehow intersect or overlap.

My favorite character, and the strongest by far is Urho. As a doctor he cares for all the characters, being wounded from loss of his spouse and son, he builds up protections around his heart. He wants Xan but denies himself until he sees that Xan is putting his life in danger and nothing other than taking him in hand, and heart, will protect him.

Caleb is an interesting balance to the trio. As an asexual Omega, Caleb nonetheless loves Xan and feels safe in their relationship, knowing Xan will not pressure him sexually but will be there to help with his heat. When Caleb sees Xan’s interest in Urho he encourages it, and fears that Xan will wind up dead if left to fill his needs with dangerous dominant alpha’s who only enjoy his pain.

The trio come together through care of friends, exile to a house out of town, and make a pact to help Caleb through his heat when the time comes.

When the story reaches its crescendo and all hell breaks loose, I wasn’t sure if my favorite character Urho could pull it off, it was intense, nail biting and exciting! You’ll know what I mean when you get there, it’s almost absurd how everything develops but there’s an HEA, don’t fret!

The sexual scenes are steamy for sure! The narrator does a good job adding passion to the worlds. I just wish I had read book one first. I recommend you read/listen in order. Looking forward to the next book!

Can true love warm his frozen heart?

When Casey Stevens went away to college four years ago, he ghosted on his straight best friend, Joel Vreeland. He hoped time and distance would lessen the unrequited affection he felt, but all it did was make him miss Joel more. Home for the holidays, Casey hopes they might find a way to be friends again. But Joel’s frosty reception reminds Casey of just how hard he had to fight to be Joel’s friend in the first place. It’s going to take a Christmas miracle to get past that cool façade again.

Joel isn’t as straight as Casey believes, and his years of pining for Casey have left him hurting and alone, caring for his abusive father and struggling to get by. Unable to trust anyone except his rescue dog—and with no reason to believe Casey is interested in him for more than a holiday fling—Joel’s icy heart might shatter before it can thaw.

Can Casey and Joel’s love overcome mistrust, parental rejection, class differences, and four long years apart? Mr. Frosty Pants is a stand-alone, Christmas gay romance by Leta Blake featuring a virgin hero, childhood friends-to-lovers, second chance romance, and steamy mm first times.

“I never thought it possible to feel an attraction for anyone.”

I’m an artist and I have a new contract with The Golden Gallery. I’ve got best friends who get me and my jokes and a family who supports and loves me. What more could I possibly want or need? I have it all except, I just don’t know what it means to be in love. I’ve never experienced it nor been attracted to anyone in my life. I don’t think it’s a bad thing and despite the fact that most people prefer to slot me into the ace spectrum, I don’t necessarily see myself in that category. I am happy the way I am, content even or at least, I tell myself that, shoving away the idea that there’s something wrong with me.

Andre Tomasine

“I never thought I’d ever be attracted to a man.”

You probably know me as the Billionaire Playboy. I come from generations of old money and started my first business venture at age nineteen. The Golden Gallery was my baby and I watched it grow into a huge success all over the world. The first time I set eyes on Xavier Fernando, my world was rocked and turned upside down. I couldn’t get him out of my mind and I tried to write it off as being impressed by his genius skills as an artist. It worked too until we bumped into each other again, literally, and the same heady feeling came over me. In an attempt to understand why I was feeling this way, I decided to get closer to Xavier, and to know the man behind the art.

Review: I have read many paranormal stories that this author has written but never a contemporary. So I was wanting to know what her writing would be like on this side of the coin. However I am not really sure what to say.

Xavier is a college student and an artist. He has had a showing at school and someone from a art gallery just happened to see his work. Talk about a shock to the system. He also doesn’t seem to date mch, that is till that perfect man shows up. Weird, because he never really was attracted to any one before.

Andre is the owner of the Golden Gallery and has found a new artist to show off. When he mets said artist, it is he who wants to show him off. His world has been rocked and by a guy no less. Things heat up, let it slide, and a second meeting has the same fire lit.

Now I am not one for a ladies man who has his head turned by a guy and then well you can guess. To cliche for me. This story was very dry, very drawn out and just didn’t keep my attention like it should have. Slow burn is not exactly covering it I guess. What is more, there is a cliffhanger. Which tells me this is one of the stories that is all about the same two characters, which is a little boring in my eyes. There is no spice up, but I guess we will have to wait and see what book two will be like.

As for right this moment, this book did nothing for me. Way to long, way to dragged out and just didn’t do anything but drag me along. Very, very slow moving plot is what you get with the story. Now as for the guys, well they are super cute and normal. The guys are definitely going to have to put on a show to get me going. This story just did not flow like it should have. The author shows that her knowledge of certain things were not researched properly. It had potential but was not executed right. To much extra stuffing added in to make the book so long as well.

This book does not make me want to read the second book, however as first books go, I will always see if the next book gets better. I just wished to be shaked up a bit more, but I wasn’t. To bad the guys were adorable. Now if only the title had some imagination used on it.

Review: Each book in the Wake Up Married collection features the same two men, Will and Patrick. So to get a full understanding of this series, they must be read in order.

Will and Patrick got married in Vegas, decided to stay married so Will could keep his money and have gotten married a second time. Now it is fun fill days in Hawaii for their honeymoon. To bad his pain in the ass family, just keeps showing up. To top it off Will’s ex is dying and things are just about going the same way as it always has.

I hate to admit that after book six, I was hoping that it was the last book in this series. It follows the exact same pattern as each of the previous books do. There is no surprises or anything to make it stand up, well except for the ex dying part. It is a dull story that makes you want to pull your hair out. And from the sounds of it, there will be another book in this series to come out soon.

Now it is funny book in its own way. The characters are very likeable, but you can only read about the same characters for so very long if there is nothing remarkable in the book. When I was given this story I was hoping for a little something different to make it stand out for me, but nope. The good thing was the fact that it was easy to remember the whole series, but in this case that was not a good sign. I am sorry but this book was just to predictable and a bit boring to me.

Review: Listening to the audio of Leta Blake’s Smokey Mountain Dreams was just audio bliss. There were so many elements of things that I love in an MM book – which I’ll get to in a second. The one thing that was new and different to me was the author and it was certainly a wonderful introduction to a new author and their writing style. Honestly, after listening to this one I am definitely open to either reading or listening to more of Blake’s work.

Now onto the elements that this book has that I love. I’ll list them off and if you got a similar list of likes to me, then this is probably the book/audio for you:

– John Solo narrating – honestly, sometimes that’s all I need,
– Good old Southern charm, manners and hospitality,
– One broken hero and one sweet hero, who in his own way is also broken,
– Sweet kids in need for someone to help keep their family together and mend their father’s heart,
– Two men that are not flawless, their characters and story completely relatable,
– A proper misunderstanding right at the end before anyone can ride off into the sunset, kissing,
– The story of Sadako and the One Thousand Paper Cranes is referenced numerous times. As a kid, I loved this story and was probably the first book that made me cry when I read it at school when I was eight or nine. Fast forward close to twenty years and reading about her story at Hiroshima A-Bomb Museum/Peace Memorial had me ugly crying even more than when I first stepped into the Museum.

The story is about Christopher Ryder. He’s a country singer who never made it in Nashville but makes a decent living in the small town (apologies name has completely escaped me) at the town’s main source of income from the tourist dollars – the theme park Smoky Mountain Dreams. The theme park itself something akin to Dolly Parton’s country and western theme park, not that I know much about it, but for people as clueless as me, that is probably what you’ll think of. Christopher doesn’t have a heck of a lot of confidence in his own abilities, but he enjoys being the step-in actor/singer for the town’s much loved but very much drunk (and debauched) son, Lash. Christopher is a total sweetie, but has had a difficult time from his family, his only real family are his beloved grandmother (as well as his brother in law, Joe, who as a secondary character I fell in love with). He is happy and content with his life, though he has not been lucky in his love life lately.

Christopher’s grandmother is the key to much of the story. She, hilarious woman that she is and another secondary character I fell in love with, is the instigator – whether meaning or not – of most of the story. As it is, her voice is also the voice of Christopher’s conscience, which is also quite amusing. His gran is the type of Gran everyone loves but few of us have had in real life. It is Christopher’s love for her which starts him on the path to the town’s jeweler, Jesse Birch.

Jesse’s life is just as complicated as Christopher’s, which is what I love about both MC’s, their lives are anything but simple but still totally relatable. Jesse is basically a widow (it’s complicated), he has two kids, he makes beautiful jewelry and he is totally in need for someone with as much sweetness as Christopher has to offer to help heal his broken heart. The kids also need some healing, but I enjoyed that Christopher’s sweetness didn’t win over the kids immediately, I liked that both guys needed to put in a lot of hard work and made many mistakes along the way.

The two events at the end of the story, which helped give the guys the final push their romance needed, was not unexpected to me. I knew that either one or both had to happen for the story to finish and I liked how that was executed.

On the cusp of adulthood, Peter has a couple of months to explore who he is without Adam at his side.

Enter Daniel McPeak, a slightly older, out, responsible college guy with a posse of gay friends and an attraction for Peter. Drawn into the brave new world of the local gay club, Peter embarks on a whirlwind of experiences—good and bad—which culminate in a hotel room where he has to make the ultimate choice.

But Adam will come back eventually, and there are promises that have to be kept. As autumn draws near and college awaits, can Peter break free of the binds of twisted first love? And what exactly is Daniel’s role in his life – a brief temptation, or something more?

These books contain aspects of: New Adult fiction, ‘90s gay life, small city homosexual experiences, Southern biases, sexual exploration, romance, homophobia, bisexuality, and twisted-up young love. Oh, and a guaranteed happy ending for the main character by the end of Book 4.

Angel Undone

by

Leta Blake

The Archangel Michael is tired. He fought wars and shoved his brother Lucifer out of heaven all before the Dark Ages rolled around. His role as protector of Israel now encompasses all of humanity, and while he performs his job perfectly, there’s little personal joy in it.

Until one night in a bar when he meets Asher.

Michael isn’t sure what it is about the vulnerable, self-deprecating Asher that calls to him, but something about the restrained depths of Asher, his gentle smiles and encyclopedic knowledge of flowers, tugs at Michael in a way that can’t be denied. Too bad romance isn’t part of his mission.

Facing an eternity of perfect submission to God’s authority, rebellion stirs in Michael. Questions of free will, angelic vocation, and the role of love and lust demand answers that just might cost Michael his place in heaven.

Review: Each book in the Wake Up Marrie collection features Will and Patrick. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

When I first started reading Will and Patrick’s story I thought it was really cute and funny as hell. However, after the fifth book I was ready to just drop the whole series. It just got old to me focusing on the two same men. I would have rather it been made two long stories than six novellas. Although I am glad that they got their happily ever after.

Will is still an idiot to me though. He has finally realized that his husband is for him. Now his family is behind them. Although, I still don’t much care for their strange attitudes. Owen is an even bigger idiot than Will and I wanted to throw him out the window. Whereas Ryan, who makes another appearance is the perfect character to truly hate.

Patrick is still my favorite, but even he was getting on my nerves a bit. Even though I felt bad for the way he was treated. Nona has finally found a way for these two to divorce, but now they have changed their minds. Will is taking the advice of Owen and is thinking divorce is the answer. Just as Patrick is telling him those three little words that should make one happy, Will is breaking his heart.

I am glad to say that these two do get their happily ever after. I just wished it hadn’t taken six books to find it. The story is well written and there is quite a bit of humor in it that makes it even better to me. It doesn’t hurt that the sex is hot and very wild. I loved the guys and I am glad that they finally end up with their true hearts standing out there.

But I am damn glad this series is over.

I would definitely recommend it though, especially if you love two sexy men and some crazy family members.

Review: This is episode four and I have got to tell you that I still want to smack the shit out of Will. However he is starting to get my attention more and more. I love how it has a serious tone to it but the humor just captures my attention each time. It stands out that is for sure. However you have to start with book one just to understand it.

Will and Patrick are definitely heating up the sheets now. They have decided to add some sexy time to their fake marriage. Although Will still is a bit of a stooge to me. These two have more than enough problems on their sides that it makes it hard for each of them to push forward with the love and marriage part. Though the friends with benefits has it charm.

They are still living in their honeymoon suite but at least they are having a bit more heated fun. The problem with these two is that there is no divorce unless they are willing to give up the money Will has in his trust. He does so much good with it, that even Patrick is willing to help. Even if it is a bit strange to be married to a man after a hot night of sex.

This story has a lot of emotions in it that each guy will have to figure out. Their bond is forming and slowly deepening but both are holding back. The kink is very hot and will leave you wanting more. Now as usual Will’s family is a bit off the rocks and can mess anything up. They are a very quirky group that is true. I did love the fact that they are both in love with each other but neither is saying a word.

Now I am not usually one for books that continue writing about one couple, it usually leads to me being bored. This one however was entertaining, although I really wished that it gives me a bit more. I am not as into it as I should have been though. However I am loving it a bit more than I did in the other three stories.

It has a slow burn to it, but not as bad as it used to be. My attention was not as into it as it should have but I did have fun reading it. It is a fun little series that will have you giggling at parts of it. It also makes me want to read the next book. It is very amusing with just the right amount of attitude added in.

I did have fun with this book and would definitely recommend it.
