“You’re pregnant, Graham.”
Wow. Life has tossed Graham a lot of curveballs, but he never expected to hear those words. Then, just as Graham and his fated mate, Hyden, are getting used to that amazing news, someone from Graham’s past returns and kidnaps him, threatening the very future they want to build. Talk about curveballs! Graham is an Oletti, a bloodline of wolf shifters that seems to be part of an ancient prophecy, one that speaks of a hidden magical spring of water that can restore the earth and all that is in it. A power some would kill to possess. Except, in the wrong hands, it can also turn humans and shifters totally away from what, and who, they truly love, tearing families and even fated mates apart.
Unfortunately, Hyden has been forced to drink this water so no one is coming to rescue Graham. It’s now up to him to not only save himself, his unborn child and his fated mate, but very possibly the world. Except superhero capes are hard to come by and he never liked himself much in tights. Still, with the help of his Oletti powers, this should be something he could do, right? Oh, Great Wolf, let this be something I can do…

“Wow,” he whispered, his heart doing a flip.
“What,” Tad asked as he opened the back-passenger door of the car for Graham.
“It’s a text from Myrk.”
Graham glanced up at Tad as he slid into the car. “Yeah. Weird. I didn’t even think he had my phone number.”
“What does he want?”
“He wants to meet.”
“Like hell… excuse my language.”
Graham smiled although he had the same thought. When Tad got in from the other side he said, “He wants to apologize for his behavior.”
Tad harrumphed. “Apologize? Myrk Varwag? Hardly. Ignore him.”
“Yeah. Like I said, weird.” He chuckled
Graham had no intention of meeting with the Omega but he couldn’t leave the text unanswered. So, he told Myrk he was on his way to school and that he would think about it. He would discuss it with Hyden. Or not. The other shifter still just set him on edge.
Are you on your way now?
Damn. Why did he tell him where he was going?
Yes. But I am headed right into class.
Ohhh! How exciting. *happy face* *thinking face* *thumbs up*. Which class is it?
It’s my Shifter History class.
When do you get out?
Shit! He should have listened to Tad and never texted him back.
Two. But I need to go right home.
Okay, that was a lie. He really didn’t have to. Except he needed to end this.
Too bad. I was hoping you could meet my fated mate.
Fated mate? Holy crap! Are you kidding me? Really?
Yes silly *angel face* I want you to know I understand now.
Wow. I would like to. And he was totally serious. But not today. Maybe next week. It would be incredibly fascinating to meet the man who was Myrk’s fated mate.
“What are you doing, Graham?” Tad’s voice startled him.
“No… nothing. I just… answered him. Says here he has met his fated mate. He says he gets it now. Huh. I wonder who that could be.”
“You mean you wonder who the poor asshole is… excuse my language.”
He clicked his phone off. It had to be turned down anyway once he got to class. But… wow. Myrk had a fated mate. That was big news. And he hunted Graham down to tell him. To do a “Myrk” kind of apology. He had to give him credit for that. I understand now. Hyden would be thrilled when he saw this text. Or pissed off Graham had talked at all with him.
The rest of the trip was, thankfully, uneventful. So was the race through the park since the closest the car could get to the building his class was held in still required a hefty walk across campus. But two hours later the walk back to where the car would pick them up was far more leisurely.
“It’s a beautiful day, isn’t Tad?”
“Yes. But Alpha Hyden will expect us soon. Let’s keep moving.”
The park was made up of grassy knolls with some benches and strategically placed statues. It seemed very quiet today, too, which was nice for a change.
It was when they reached pretty much the middle, near a cropping of trees, that it happened.
Tad, was looming over Graham, maybe walking a little too close at times. So, when the blood curdling scream split the air all around them and Tad reacted with a jolt of his body beside him, Graham was nearly knocked off his feet.
“What the hell was that?” Graham cried, his heart in his throat, taking hold of Tad’s arm for balance as he frantically tried to find where the scream had come from. “There!” Graham pointed to a large bush beside a park bench about forty or so feet away. “I think someone’s being attacked.” Indeed, there appeared to be two men kicking and punching a small woman who was lying on the ground screaming. “We have to stop them!” Graham yelled as he started to run toward the fight, but Tad stopped him with an iron hand.
“No. It could be a trap. Wait here. I’ll handle this.”
A trap? Oh, good grief, how ridiculous. “Fine. I’ll call 911.” And Graham reached into his pocket for his phone. Damn. He had turned it off that morning and forgot to turn it back on. He pressed the necessary button.
The screams continued. Glancing up at the mayhem Graham saw that Tad was approaching but… Fuck! It was taking too long for his phone to turn on.
And then… turned out, it was a trap.
Tad didn’t even get to the two men before one of them whipped around, pulled out a gun and shot him. It was Graham’s turn to scream. A second later Graham realized the gun was odd and there appeared to be a wire linking it to Tad. A taser? They hadn’t actually killed Tad? At least, Graham didn’t think he was dead. But the bodyguard went down hard even as the lady gained her feet and ran off. The two who had attacked her never even noticed. They both turned full on to Tad and looked passed him to Graham.
She hadn’t been the target.

Hi, my name is Hurri Cosmo. I live in Minnesota where I hold tight to the idea that here, where it’s cold a good part of the year, I won’t age as fast. Yep, I avoid the truth as much as I avoid mirrors. But one of the reasons I love writing is reality doesn’t always offer up a “happily ever after” and being able to take control of that is a powerful lure. Being a happy ending junkie, writing just makes them easier to find.
Oh, I don’t mind “real life” and I do try to at least keep it in mind when I write my stories, but I truly love creating a wonderful couple, knowing they will fall in love and have their HEA every ―single ― time. And, of course, that is exactly the reason I love writing this genre, too.
Give me a glass of red wine, some dark chocolate, and my computer, whether I am reading or writing, and I can entertain myself for hours. The fact that I actually get paid to do it is Snicker bars on the frosting on the cake.

Review: An excellent addition to the series that delves further into the Oletti’s background as well as Graham being in danger from those that want him for a specific purpose. I loved this suspenseful yet danger packed story. With Alpha Hyden trying to clean up Tenway to Graham being kidnapped.
This story has it all. I was in awe with the Oletti’s background as well as the interesting characters throughout the story both good and bad. My heart broke for what had been done to the Oletti’s out of greed.
This was the best book in the series as it answered many questions that remained from the first two books.
