Blurb: Former Army Ranger turned government assassin Álvaro Montero and CIA Officer Caiden Cardosa crossed paths two years ago in Vienna, where their encounter ended less than amicably—despite the explosive sexual chemistry between them.

Now Caiden is riding a desk at Langley after his cover is blown. And Álvaro—who was “killed”—has a new identity and purpose as Delta/D, an operative for the Locke and Keyes Agency, under the leadership of the mysterious Alpha Orion.

When D and Caiden team up in a deadly black ops mission, the urge to kill each other will have to take a back seat to the desire for revenge against the man who betrayed them both. Surviving the mission won’t be easy. Resisting the passion between them—that might be impossible.

Review: Alvaro had once been a military man turned assassin, that is until he was betrayed and killed. Although in truth he was now known as Delta working for Locke and Keyes Agency. An agency that was ran by a man they never met. Two years ago he had risked everything and it came to bite him in the ass. Now the past was standing before him.

Caiden had always wanted to be a spook and had gotten what he wanted. Then one phone call ruined his life. He was set up and his cover was blown. Now a second chance to find out who destroyed his life, brought him right into the path of a man he had thought was dead.

These guys working together, well they would either kill each other or sleep together. The way they talk to each other, you can tell they would be burning the sheets up. I just loved the way the guys could joke back and forth, and the chemistry was definitely there. Although I do think parts of the story came a bit too fast, lets just say it was worth it.

This is one of those stories by an author that will always keep you entertained and laughing at parts of the story. The guys are just adorable and you will fall in love with them all. Even the alpha is a crack pot, which was a kick. Now there were parts of the story that were a bit to close to a tv show, but it still rocked. A leader never seen just heard, men who kill, danger and excitement, action packed and some definitely hot sex is just a bit of what you get in this story.

This is a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. It was a great read that kept my attention through out the whole story. I had a blast reading this and would definitely recommend it.

Blurb: Ajax Fairchild’s online alter ego has caused him trouble before, but never like this. After multiple death threats, his loaded parents decide he needs an enforced digital vacation and the best bodyguard money can buy.

That would be Dmytro Kolisnychenko, former soldier, former hired muscle for the Ukrainian mob—until he lost his happy home life to an enemy with a homemade bomb. Now he wants only two things: to spend every precious second he can with his daughters, and to provide for them by protecting people who can’t protect themselves—even entitled little asshats like Ajax Fairchild.

But Ajax doesn’t fit into the spoiled little rich kid box as neatly as Dmytro would like. Dmytro doesn’t have time for a romantic dalliance, and Ajax is a client, albeit one with unexpected depths. With one coincidence after another driving them to the sleepy seaside town of St. Nacho’s and away from their planned safe house, they grow to trust each other and find that love follows trust. Now they must learn where the threat to Ajax is coming from and neutralize it
before it’s too late for their happily ever after.

Review: Three Night Vlog, by ZA Maxfield, is the third book in the series Plummet to Soar. I didn’t really know what to expect. I’ve read books by Maxfield in the past but nothing really came to mind when I was reading the blurb other than “this looks like a fun book with a dash of danger”.

Three Night Vlog works fine as a standalone book. I knew it was part of a series when I picked it up but it wasn’t until about five minutes ago that I realised that it’s the third book in the series. Regardless, I am now curious about the preceding two books.

In the present story we are introduced to Ajax Fairchild. He’s a rich kid – young adult – in need of a bodyguard. But he isn’t your run of the mill rich kid with too much time and money on his hands, instead Ajax is something of a social warrior. After deciding that he didn’t need to put up an act on his blog as his internet vlogger alter ego, he announces that he is gay – in a stunning, drunken YouTube video – Ajax’s parent hire a bodyguard and force him to stay away from the internet. He finds himself in the beautiful seaside town of St Nacho’s after more death threats force the plan off script.

Dmytro Kolisnychenko is a former soldier, single father and the bodyguard hired to protect Ajax Fairchild. Dmytro accepts that he has a fluid sexuality, yet he cannot act on any attraction to Ajax, simply because the man is his client, and he has shied away from any sort of romance since a bomb killed his wife and destroyed his happy home. He spends as much time with his two cute daughters, but it is the events of the past that make him want to protect people that cannot protect themselves, which is a way for Dmytro to find peace and salvation. But as the threats escalate and the attraction grows, both Dmytro and Ajax need to keep their eyes on the current situation as well as work through their feelings and the emotional baggage of the past.

As I said earlier, this is a fun book with a dash of danger. Dmytro and Ajax have a sizzling attraction, although they both go on quite a journey before they can be anything real to each other. For those that like their romance with a bit of action, sexy eastern European bodyguards and a quirky leading man, this is a great book to get into.

Review: Adam seems to go back in time after driving through a tunnel. It was intriguing seeing how Adam dealt with life without the amenities he was used to. Rafe for his part was sexy yet determined. Adam has a lot to deal with when it becomes apparent that he’s to become something more than what he thought he would ever be.

Evil Mages, a shifter/wizard and a group of people willing to do anything for the right person to save a species from the bidding of an evil mage. I absolutely loved it from the picturesque scenery to the battle scenes and everything in between.

Twists and turns abound in this exciting beginning to an amazing series. I am highly looking forward to reading more about Rafe and his group as well as Adam and his.

Fantastic story and highly recommended.

Blurb: For a singer and a spy, love might be mission impossible.

Jaxon Powers has what most only dream of. Fame. Fortune. Gold records and Grammy awards. Lavish hotel suites and an endless parade of eager bedmates. He’s adored all over the world – even in the remote, repressive country of Vasnytsia, where the tyrannical dictator is a big fan. The State Department hopes a performance might improve US relations with a dangerous ene-my. But it means Jaxon’s going in alone…with one exception.

Secret agent Reid Stanfill has a covert agenda with global ramifications. Duty means everything to him, even when it involves protecting a jaded rock star. Jaxon and Reid’s mutual attraction is dangerous under Vasnytsia’s harsh laws – and matters get even worse when they’re trapped inside the borders.

Romance will have to wait…assuming they make it out alive.

Review: The Spy’s Love Song is the first book in Kim Fielding’s series Stars from Peril. I really enjoy Fielding’s writing style and so was pretty confident that I would at least enjoy this story. The writing style is easy for me to connect to and I find a majority of Fielding’s characters both relatable and entertaining.

It was actually good timing for me to listen to this audio, because I also had the ebook for book 2 in the series and I listened in case I needed a refresher. FYI: these do work as standalone book with only passing reference with the character who happens to be the famous person from the small town of Peril. In fact, the characters aren’t even physically in the town, it just happens that one MC is a small town boy who has made it famous.

The audio narration for this story was by Drew Bacca, who is a completely new narrator for me. I found his voice matched both characters and the theme of the story well. He was able to convey the emotions – the danger and the passion – pretty damn well. I look forward to hearing more performances him in the future.

For me this book is a mix between The Cold War (in the style of The Man from UNCLE) and the Seth Rogen/James Franco movie The Interview. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you could also think gay James Bond with a spoiled Rockstar and hot sexual tension. If a pseudo-James Bond minus the Bond girls is your thing in a romance this book will probably go for this one.

Jaxon Powers transformed his life and moved to the big city to try to make his big break after his parents took his coming out badly. In fact, he hasn’t spoken to them in years. But now he has made it big and a big name. He’s doing world tours, recording albums, and basically living the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll lifestyle. He is a spoiled, bored and jaded celebrity. Then one days he gets what has to be the strangest request. Apparently, the dictator of some eastern European country is a massive fan of his and requests that Jaxon fly over to perform a couple shows. The US State Department see this as the perfect opportunity to see into the country Vasnytia and get some intelligence. Vasnytia is basically like North Korea/USSR.

This is where Secret Agent Reid Stanfil comes in. He is all that is awesome and the embodiment of a secret agent man: he’s ex-military, knows the local language, sexy as well and good to have when you’re in a spot of trouble. He accompanies Jaxon to Vasnytia and goes to all lengths to ensure the man’s safety, as well as conduct any secret agent type business. They have an instant connection, but Reid is well aware of the dangers of giving into his base desires. However, things go awry, to put it nicely, and when the guys are running for their lives the last thing they have time for is to give into their feelings.

I really liked the two characters together and I love that they didn’t have sex in stupid places at ridiculous times although they had a good chemistry. I found that Drew Bacca’s performances lifted this chemistry between the characters and made the whole story a lot more relatable.

Mourning Dove

(EMPATHY 02)
by

R.R. Campbell

In the aftermath of the calamitous Human/Etech research study, Chandra and Kyra struggle to reclaim the life they shared in a pre-EMPATHY world, while Ty, armed with knowledge of EMPATHY’s programming language, seeks revenge on the Halmans for the harm that’s befallen his friends.

As a North American Union investigation into the happenings on the compound looms, a grief-stricken Peter works to resurrect the memory of his mother from a harvested nanochip, and Heather scrambles to keep her family—and their company—together. Alistair, having abandoned the family business, plots to save his hide and that of his wife while she strives to stay one step ahead of a husband she has no reason to trust.

Far to the north amid civil unrest, a recently retired Rénald Dupont investigates the disappearance of his friend and former colleague, Meredith, despite grave threats from an increasingly skittish North American Union government.

As old and new foes emerge, spouse is further pit against spouse, brother against sister, and governments against their people. In the end, all must choose between attempts to reclaim the past or surrender to the inevitable, an intractable world of their own creation.

Mourning Dove is an evocative, sweeping symphony of love, revenge, and desperation in cacophonous times. It is the second installment in r. r. campbell’s epic EMPATHY sci-fi saga.

Blurb: Mossad Operative, Adael Dayan, has long been a pain in the ass to ATF special agents, Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans. Showing up in the middle of their cases time after time hasn’t endeared him to the pair but both men grudgingly have to admit, he’s usually provided valuable assistance. When Adael suddenly wakes up believing he’s been poisoned, it becomes a race against the clock to help find the person who’s done this to him and learn why in time to save his life.

Race Parker, former Green Beret, once carried Adael away from a vicious mercenary. Deeply attracted to Adael, Parker stayed with Dayan in the hospital hoping there might be a future between them. When Adael yanked his hand out of his the moment Jarrett Evans showed up, Race didn’t hang around. He wasn’t falling for a guy who wanted someone else.

Long ago Jarrett left Adael and the bad memories that ended their mission in Gaza behind. When he’d seen Parker and the Israeli in the hospital together, he’d had hope that maybe Adael might finally find happiness regardless of Adael’s insistence that gay men never remained monogamous for long.

Thayne has long been resentful of the relationship Adael had with Jarrett. Every time the Israeli shows up, things go from bad to worse. In this final installment of the Death and Destruction series, our men will once again be thrown from the frying pan into the fire, and all because a rogue Israeli spy can’t keep his bullshit to himself.

Review: I really enjoyed this fast paced, action packed story. Adael is in danger so he recruits Race to help and with him Jarrett and Thayne. I loved everything about this gripping story. The action was off the charts the danger seemed lifelike though the romance was on the lacking side which I did not mind. There are sexy times as well as sweet ones to enthral the reader.

I loved reading about the characters I have come to love with each book. The sarcasm and humor were prevalent throughout as was the edge of your seat anticipation of what comes next with each scene played out.

Another brilliant addition to an already amazing series that just keeps going.

Art-school dropout Chandra would do anything to apologize for her role in her wife’s coma—including enroll in the first round of human trials for an internet-access brain implant.

At first, the secretive research compound is paradise, the perfect place to distract Chandra from her grief. But as she soon learns, the facility is more prison than resort, with its doctors, support staff, and her fellow patients all bent on hatching plots of their own, no matter how invested they might seem in helping her communicate with her wife.

Making matters worse, a dark wave of uncertainty crashes down on the compound, forcing Chandra to become an unlikely but pivotal player in conspiracies stretching from the highest levels of the North American Union government to the lowest dredges of its shadowy hacking collectives.

To save herself and her wife, Chandra and her newfound friends from the study will have to overcome the scheming of a ruthless tech magnate, the naïveté of an advancement-hungry administrative assistant, and the relentless pursuits of an investigative journalist, all of whom are determined to outpace the others in their own quests to resurrect lost love, cover their tracks, and uncover the truth.

A twistedly delightful clockwork of intrigue and suspense, Imminent Dawn is an electrifying sci-fi debut from author r. r. campbell.

Review: I was looking forward to reading the Spy’s Love Story for two reasons. One is that I have discovered that I really enjoy Kim Fielding’s books. The writing style is easy for me to connect to and I find a majority of Fielding’s characters both relatable and entertaining, at least on some level. The other reason I was drawn to and looking forward to reading the book is completely shallow – I don’t normally make a comment on the front cover but for me this book’s cover was
well in a word, hot. Basically, red/auburn haired men are completely my type, so the cover model hooked me when I saw the cover on the Dreamspinner website. I like to think I’m rational, but I can be as fickle as the next person, I suppose.

Right. So. Onto the story.

For me this book is a mix between The Cold War (in the style of The Man from UNCLE) and the Seth Rogen/James Franco movie The Interview. These were the movies/television that became my pop culture reference for the book, so if you don’t know what I’m talking about you could also think gay James Bond with a spoiled Rockstar and hot sexual tension. If a pseudo-James Bond minus the Bond girls is your thing in a romance this book will probably go for this one.

As I said, we have a spy and a Rockstar.

Jaxon Powers transformed his life and moved to the big city to try to make his big break after his parents took his coming out badly. In fact, he hasn’t spoken to them in years. But now he has made it big and a big name. He’s doing world tours, recording albums, and basically living the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll life style. He is a spoiled, bored and jaded celebrity. However, things go awry, to put it nicely, and when the guys are running for their lives the last thing they have time for is to give into their feelings.

I enjoyed the book, though I kept thinking back to the movie The Interview more often than not. I really liked the two characters together and I like that they didn’t have sex in stupid places at ridiculous times although they had a good chemistry. I’ll admit that the chemistry was a little flat at the beginning, but I got on board by the end of the story.

Review: I will not give away too much in the way of details but will say this: This series is a fantastic roller coaster ride of mystery, suspense, romance, twists and turns that just kept coming. Jarrett and Thayne are back again in this exciting installment.
Their mission is to investigate a murder. I found myself fully absorbed in the story and was fascinated by how well it flowed. Questions were answered that remained unanswered in previous books.
Mills Lang also made an appearance and ran into trouble that he deserved. I simply loved this series with it’s breathtaking action scenes to the tender moments in between. If you love mystery and suspense with a huge helping of catching the bad guys this series is for you.

Review: Jarrett and Thayne are back in this exciting addition to the Death & Destruction series. They enlist the help of Cassidy Ryan, as they team up with FBI special agent Lincoln Snow and his partner Mac McCallahan to take down dirty L.A. cops, a gang mixed up in stolen guns and an online sex ring.

This story has a lot of action in and out of the bedroom. I loved the way all the men had one common goal: to take out the trash. I really liked how well they all worked well together in their quest. It was a journey to say the least.

I loved seeing how Jarrett and Thayne are when living together. It was certainly entertaining at times and thoughtful at others as they settle down. I love this series and am looking forward to the next installment.

Highly recommended.

Review: A great addition to this series as Mills Lang, the evil arms dealer is back in this book and it is up to Jarrett and Thayne to stop him. Mills has a deadly nerve agent called Taban that he plans to sell to highest bidder. As with the other books this one has plenty of action.

A few scary scenes, a mystery man, plus a lot of hot action made for an outstanding read. I love the chemistry between Jarrett and Thayne. The secondary characters added to the appeal of the story. Jarrett’s ex is back and it causes Thayne to get jealous on top of everything else going on.

Twists and turns lead the reader on a journey of trying to stop an arms, figure out who the mystery man is and what he wants. It’s a roller coaster of emotions as well as a great book. I loved it.

Highly recommended.

Review: Wow. A superb ending though I hope that this is not the end if nothing else I am hoping for another series connected to this one as there are a few things that happen that could be expanded on. Jarrett and Thayne are awesome characters that have been there for each other since the beginning. I love this couple.

This is an action packed, edge of your seat story that just kept getting better the further the story progressed. Once it all ended I was sad that this could possibly be the end.

I loved all the characters throughout as each added their own element to achieve the maximum effect of the story. Well written and descriptive this story will have you anticipating what happens next throughout.

I will be re-reading this series at some point because it’s just that good. I highly recommend this series to all.

Fantastic read.

Review: Another great addition to the Death and Destruction series packed full of drama, action and a sadistic killer bent on revenge. Thayne and Jarrett are making plans for their wedding when a case comes in drawing them away. With Thayne still recovering for his ordeal he wants a resolution to the case.

I really like this series and Jarrett and Thayne as well as their friends are always ready for danger even though things do not always go as planned. The mystery of the case was well written and the reader is along for the ride as the guys investigate and gather clues.

These stories deliver a punch with their intense situations while at the same the happy moments between friends and lovers.

Well balanced and highly addictive story.

Review:  When I was first given this story, I wasn’t too sure if I was going to like it or not.  There are some minor problems that I can see in the story, but other than that it was an enjoyable read.  I always did love a man who carried a gun and who could kill when needed.  This book gave me that.

Jake was a damn good soldier until his best friend murdered his sister.  The problem was he just couldn’t get over losing them both.  He left and opened a bar, to live his life grieving.  He left the man he loved behind as well.  However Riley swore that he did not kill his wife, Jake’s sister.  Now he has escaped from prison and is heading Jakes way.   So when the team walks into the bar, let’s just say things are not getting any easier.

Mitch is indeed angry at Jake, but his heart is still beating for the man he loves.  He believes Riley is innocent, but he will protect Jake with everything in him.  There are so many twists to this story that I enjoyed it.

There were a few issues with this story.  It felt like it wasn’t finished and I am not talking about the ending.  There were certain parts of the story that fell flat and thrown in there for word count.  I felt bad for Riley, but there was not a lot of him in there yet he was the one that was considered dangerous.  What really caught my eye, was these guys are some big badasses, yet all they did was sit at the bar waiting.  There was no real action but a small part.  The blurb gave me a promise, but the story fell flat.  It had great potential and I did enjoy reading it.  I can’t wait to see what the next book will be like.

Review: Each book in the J.T.’s Bar collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

It has been close to one full year since I read book one in this story and I wasn’t sure if I would actually remember it. However the moment I started reading it, it was like the first book was right there. I was very glad to have seen the mistakes the first book had were not present with this one. It is a very action packed story that will entertain you.

Greg has had a rough life. When his older brother took off to join the military, well his family life went down hill. His father is a homophobic ass and his mother just doesn’t seem to care. When it came out that he was gay, well his father kicked him out. Cole had always been the favored child in the family, but Cole had protected Greg until he left. Just trying to work to be able to eat leads him into a dangerous situation. He is the witness to a murder and is the only witness. Welcome to WITSEC, where Marshall’s protect you. The only problem is, the U.S. Marshall’s burned him. So he goes to the one person he hopes can protect him, his older brother.

Colm is a Deputy of the U.S. Marshall’s. His job is to protect his witness, not fall in love with them. When Greg’s home is burned down, and then his job, which killed the owner, Colm knew Greg was in danger. He knew where his man would go, and he was determined to protect him.

Now there are some pretty cool twists to this story, the problem is it was to predictable. It came close to mimicking the first book. However it was still a very enjoyable story that I had a lot of fun reading. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. The characters are dashing, sexy, very entertaining and all alpha’s. The story was fast pace and flowed pretty nice. It had a few bumps in the road, but they were not really noticeable. Other than a few little, minor issues this book rocked.

I had a lot of fun with it and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. I just hope I don’t have to wait another year to get my hands on it. I would definitely recommend this book.
