Review: This book starts off showing the type of hell Leo has been living in for the past several months.  The fact that he thinks his second “master” isn’t as bad as the first because he doesn’t get raped is sad.  Leo has really given up.  He hopes that one night a vampire will finally take too much blood and kill him.  Or that maybe the drugs they force on him will.

Take one traumatized man and drop him into the lap of his lion shifter mate and watch the fireworks.  Yes, things move fast considering the hell Leo has been through, but again it’s only a novella.  So some leeway has to be given.  I think the biggest part is that Leo finally felt safe with Maddox.  Plus, there was the mating heat.

These two are cute together.  Leo is really cute totally deserved to have a big mate to protect and love him.  And really they are sexy hot together. There is even sex in the third shifter form.  Which is always interesting.

I first read this book when it was released in 2011.  I followed through on the others books in the series and was unhappy that the series didn’t continue when the publisher went defunct.  I am happy to see that Dawn H. Hawkes has found a new home and is releasing the series and hopefully continuing it.

It was great to revisit this story again after so long and I look forward to re-reading the others.

Review: This book coincides with the first book in the series, In the Middle of Somewhere. I do not recommend reading this as a standalone.

I will start as saying that I mostly enjoyed this book, as I enjoyed the first book in the series. I really like Roan Parrish’s way of writing and telling a story. This story is told from the first-person narrative of Colin. As it was written that way it allowed me as a reader to see the emotional changes of Colin as the story goes on.

However, in the start I really did not like Colin. He has allowed his own self-hatred and that of his family turn him into a very unlikeable and bully of a man. It left me really unsure how Rafe, who the sweetest most awesome man, could fall in love and actively pursue a relationship with Colin.

Reading things from Colin’s part of view honestly made me a little depressed for him. His world is full of drinking, working, and being around his father and brothers. He punishes himself for being gay himself, and the way he treats his brother Daniel for it, just did not make me like him. Colin is messed up, and as a reader you definitely feel it.

Rafe on the other hand is the exact opposite of Colin. He is sweet and kind, works with LGBT kids, and has a great and loving family. Although he is not perfect either. But he has also faced up to his demons and moved on to make a better life for himself and to help others.

Like the first book, this definitely has angst. A lot of it. There is pain and anger. But there is also the slow building of a man who starts to accept who he is. Colin starts to become a better man. This is not just about Rafe and Colin’s relationship. It also tells how a man, Colin, starts to adjust his thinking about himself and what he thinks others expect of him, about finding himself.

This book gave me a lot of feeling. There is disgust, anger, laughter, and finally happiness.

If you enjoyed the first book in the series, then you will really like this one, also.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

I was thrilled to read more about the Sirius Wolves. This series has intrigued me and drawn me in since the beginning. This book continues that theme for me. I honestly have to be careful how I write this review so I don’t drop any spoilers. Because let me tell you things happened that really shocked me.

What I can say is that Victoria Sue has done it again with this book. The writing was on point except for a few minor editing issues. But even they did not distract from the amazingly web the author created. It really left me guessing until the end.

This book gave a very awesome look into the heads of Marcus and Kellan. Marcus a human injured veteran living within the wolves’ circle of power. The way he is accepted by most of them and respected more by the wolves than most humans give was touching.

However Marcus at times has a hard time accepting and understanding it himself. Marcus may be human, but he shows the wolves something that makes them give him the utmost respect.
Kellan is hated by most of the wolves for his part in things that were beyond his control. But with Marcus and others in the inner circle he finds acceptance and his strength. It was wonderful to see him come into himself and discover his place in the pack.

I really can’t say much more about whom the other two people are in the developing relationship, but I will say I didn’t see it coming at the start. But I am far from disappointed.

This book had so many surprises around every corner and I cannot wait to see where Victoria Sue takes it next. Because let me tell you there are so many more things to discover and explore.

Review: This was a really cute read. The BDSM factor was pretty light to some of Sean Michael’s other Hammer type stories. Brad is not a cute little twink, he just happens to be couch surfing in his cousin’s room at the sub house. Brad is not really into the BDSM world, but it’s more from lack of knowledge than anything. That is until he meets Dom Dill at a sub house party.

The attraction is instant for these two. They connect and things move fast. Dill sees the lack of focus Brad has and finds a way to use his love of research and studying to help Dill with his work. I actually like that little way of getting Brad to be with him all the time. It was really a sweet way of helping Brad and at the same time getting closer to him.

Along the way Dill and Brad connect in the sexual way also. As most of Sean Michael’s books are, the sex was pretty damn hot and plentiful. I did enjoy the way Brad had an open mind and questioned things. He didn’t just immediately give over all control to Dill. They took things slowly in that regard.

A nice addition to the series and the Hammer world.

Blurb: Life with vamps is never easy.

Abernathy Meyers is already mated to a vamp, Zebulon. It’s just too bad that Zebulon doesn’t give a darn about him. Abbie’s stuck with the man for eternity—or until they die. Some days, Abbie thinks that can’t happen soon enough. He’s tired of being treated badly, yet he doesn’t really want to make his earthly exit yet.

Because he’s longed for another man—another vampire—for years. Forbidden love—is anything more compelling, or more heart-breaking?

There’s a twisted past, a hidden story linking Abbie, Zebulon and the coven leader, Claude.

Claude lives with a fear of turning to dust at any moment. It isn’t reasonable, but he can’t shake it. He’s let his own fears impede his potential happiness, and instead he puts the needs of his coven first, ignoring his own. But if he’s deliberately blind to one particular human’s needs because that human is a mate to another vampire, then is Claude truly leading to the best of his ability?

It’s a tough question for him to answer and soon, he’ll have to make a choice that will affect him and Abbie, forever.

Review: This was a great addition to the series. Finally Claude, the leader of the coven, gets a mate. And it turns about to be Abernathy. Their history together was very interesting to read about. Because of certain perceived notions Claude lost his chance with Abernathy years ago. This lead to both Claude and Abernathy to suffer for decades.

Lucky for both Claude and Abernathy, Zebulon finally does something that allows them to be together how they were meant to be. It was so sweet and pretty damn hot when they were finally able to claim one another.

This book was a fast read and very enjoyable. I spent as much time laughing at the antics of the coven members as I did cheering on Claude and Abernathy. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I love the characters Bailey Bradford has created.

Review: I loved that Sean Michael gives not only more with Toby and Damon, but also Peter and Christian. This book almost blows the erotic meter off the charts. These two separate couples are seriously hot.

I enjoyed getting a look inside the relationship of Peter and Christian. The struggle Christian still has accepting his needs are clearly written. Peter does wonder with Christian and how to get him to be where he needs to be. There is more story there I believe that I cannot wait to be told.

It’s great to see that the relationship between Damon and Toby. They are still finding their way together and having fun as they do it. And finally there is a resolution to the mystery stalker of Toby’s.

This book is very hot and sexy, with some great tender moments. I look forward to seeing where this series will go next.

Review: Well this was another rollercoaster ride from start to finish. Smartass Berit, his mate Tom, and best friend Carson with his mate Niyara, are still fighting to destroy the breeding stations of the Tash’Ba queen. Each one seems to be getting worse than the last one as the beast seem to be changing and becoming more vicious and cunning.

This time more is revealed as they learn the Queen is heading to Earth and her plans for it. Also traitors are among the humans.
This was so fast paced. I was just turning the pages to find out what would happen next. I was engrossed from start to finish seeing what more was in store for Berit and his mate and friends. And plus to see what next off the wall comment Berit would say.

Berit really is a favorite character of mine. He is so over the top at times and really cannot keep his mouth shut. Berit also does not see himself as strong or really all that brave. But his biggest strength is that he keeps doing it and keeps fighting.

Tom and Berit’s relationship has grown some too. Berit still is not completely comfortable with everything. But he is also making an effort to learn. He is willing to give Tom things he needs. Berit understands that the Nadisc are protective and possessive of their mates. Sometimes Tom needs reassurances too and maybe just to be asked if something Berit is about to do is OK. And yes there is more tail sex, which is still surprisingly hot.

I felt this book tied things up nicely on one hand, but also left enough unanswered questions about Berit and other situations that I see at least another book being needed. Or at least I want more.

I truly enjoy the interactions of these characters and the world the author has created. I want to know more about how Berit and Tom’s relationship progresses and how the other relationship of his friends go.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

Overall this was a decent read. But there were some issues for me.
I just didn’t really buy into Maurice and his reasoning for avoiding relationships. He is only twenty years old and seemed too jaded. Also Asa avoiding admitting that they were mates from the start was a little strange to me. Maurice knew all about shifters and mates so I think Asa should have been more up front.

But besides those issues I did enjoy the bantering back and forth the two had with each other. I find many of them funny and entertaining.

Also the sex scenes were pretty damn hot if I do say so.

As always it nice to see favorite characters from other books in the series pop in and out to add their two cents. I really did enjoy the ending and how things all worked out.

So besides some storyline issues that bugged me I did like the book and look forward to more in the series.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order. Also coincides with Beyond the Angel Pack Series.

This book managed to touch me with some of its more emotional tones. Crew in the past books gave the impression of one thing. But he is so much more and really very relatable by anyone who has felt like an outsider.

Due to his upbringing with his family he has such a low opinion of himself. It takes two mates and his chosen family to make him see how truly special and appreciated he really is. But he does have so many issues to get there.

I enjoyed Haven and Laylen. I don’t feel like I know as much about them, but what I did learn and read made me like them for Crew. Really I got the sense that this was Crew’s book, Haven and Laylen were there to make Crew happy and finally give him peace and happiness. They finally allowed Crew to be himself.

Oh my Gawd, was the sex hot, and dirty, and whoo. It was steam worthy to say the least. And maybe just a tad over the top. But damn I was fine with that.

Throughout the story there is the ongoing story arc of good versus bad and the upcoming battle. Malachi and his cohorts are up to their old tricks and target Crew with some bad juju. It also showed how Crew was seen as the weakest link and how he was overlooked as an assist to the pack.

I must say this was one of my favorites in the Angel Pack universe. I really felt a connection to Crew and his trials and tribulations. The book really pulled me in and kept me reading. I was engrossed from start to end.

Beauty and the Beast

(Fairytale Shifters 01)
by

Sean Michael

As a rhino shifter, Tromp knows that he’s not the sexiest beast in the world. In fact he’s clumsy and he can’t see very well, and that’s whether he’s in his human or animal form. Still, he enjoys going to the bar and watching the other shifters hooking up, especially the dancers. Then he sees a slinky kitty dancing on the little stage and he’s immediately smitten. He knows a sexy beauty like that would never go for him, but he’s happy just to watch and fantasize about what could be.

For his part, panther shifter Pepper might be gorgeous on the outside, but he knows most people see him as nothing more than a piece of meat and he’s had a hard past. There’s something in the way the big rhino shifter looks at him while he dances, though, that makes him feel special. So when his stint on the stage is over, he heads right to the rhino’s table.

Can Tromp and Pepper ignore the world’s expectations and find what they need in each other?

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order. This series also coincides with events happening in the Paranormal Wars: Juarez series.

Ok, this book was a little disappointing to me. I was pretty sure Diallo was described as a blue-eyed blond in “Mating in Stormy Waters” and he was. So when he was introduced as a slim-black man we copper eyes I was confused. So my OCD made me go back and look it up. And yes he has been completely changed since he was introduced. So from the start things we getting a little off course.

Next up is way would Dugan be chosen to lead the hunt for the children? Nothing was ever said about why he and Diallo for that matter were selected. Also what the hell was the deal with the Death Valley scene? Why were they dropped there? That all deal made no sense to me.

OK, looking past all the things they left me with questions. The romance between Diallo and Dugan was nice and sweet. Both men have deep scars. Dugan from the bombing that left him without a leg, and Diallo with his years of physical and sexual abuse.

The fact that Diallo was able to let Dugan in and find happiness was good. Dugan was so gentle with Diallo since he has heard the stories of what happened to Diallo. There were also some really sweet and cute moments between them. I really liked the scene with the wild dolphins.

Overall, not as good as some of the other books in the series. But, if you can look beyond some of the inconsistencies, a good romance.

Review: I have to say this book was not like I was expecting at all. I really thought it would go in an entirely different direction. It was so much bigger than just a romance book. There was so much work put into the world this takes place in. The characters were well-developed.

This book also gave me a wide range of emotions. From laughing my ass off to wanting to hit some of the characters upside their heads, mostly Ayden and Brogan. Both Ayden and Brogan have so many misunderstanding and just plain stupidity moments. However when they finally got it to work they were perfect for each other.

The history of magic kind and the different types were very interesting and I enjoyed the different take the author had on them. Although I will admit at times I thought things dragged a little.

Sometimes there just seemed to be too much information crammed in at times.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable and intriguing book. I cannot wait to see where the author goes from here. There are so many loose ends left and I want to see how the author ties them up in the next book.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
Events at the start of the book happen in conjunction with the first book in the series. It was nice to see how Keith and Bobby first met in order to help their best friends. What follows after should have just been a hookup but it turns into something more for both of them.

What I find funny was that the two of them fall into the same trap that their friends did. Neither one is willing to be themselves out there and admit that their relationship if more than just fuck buddies. Also Keith lets his age and other people get in the way of things.

Thankfully Keith pulls his head out of his ass. Just in time too in order to be there for Bobby when his world falls apart.

The sex was a little low-key in this book. A good portion happens “off screen” I suppose I could say. What scenes there are, are hot and sexy with just the right amount of steamy. This book really seemed to focus in on the events and fall outs.

I will say this, the start was a little stilted for me. There was a lack of emotion. The details and interactions were given, but it was just that. I didn’t really feel Keith and Bobby until later in the book.

Overall I did enjoy this story once I got past those first few chapters.

Blurb: Logan is a wolf with a past. His mother is a witch, an evil one that tried to murder his friends and tear his pack apart. He volunteered for the small group tasked with stopping her and was faced with a difficult decision. He chose to step in front of his friend and take the deadly spell meant for Kyle. It killed him.

At least that’s what he thought until he was once again put in the position to choose in a dream. This time, by a deity who offered him a chance to move on or come back. It is that melodic voice that tempts him back with the promise that he would be loved.

Needless to say the news that it wasn’t a dream and he now belongs to a Goddess isn’t a nice surprise in the cold light of day and he rebels against the ownership. His friends rally round him and summon the deity to demand answers.

Except…when Cerridwen appears, she isn’t a Goddess anymore but a God. With white hair that glitters with magic, mesmerizing eyes and a body made for sin that makes his wolf pant.

It isn’t a short or easy road, but Logan gives Cerrid the chance the man asks for and discovers being claimed by someone may not be that bad a thing, because sometimes the belonging goes both ways.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

This was a really good and enjoyable read. Logan gave his life to save his Alpha. But something or someone gave him another chance, at life and love. When Logan finds out he has been claimed by the Goddess Cerridwen, Logan is not exactly thrilled with the news. He was promised to be loved, however Cerridwen is a woman, and Logan is definitely gay.

Only Cerridwen, now to be called Cerrid changes his whole personality along with his body to fit Logan’s desires. Cerrid also manages to create a mate bond between them. Cerrid take the “gay for you” fantasy to a whole new level.

I really liked Cerrid. He has a lot to learn about the world since he has not been in the human realm for a long time. Things like fashion and electronics. The shopping trip had me laughing. He may not understand the world at large, but he sure does enjoy learning about it with Logan’s help.

Logan has his own learning to do. Things like anything is possible with a God as a mate. And how to live in a treehouse that seems to be alive.

These two are definitely hot and sexy together. Let me just say that a newly male God and the internet are very good things, especially for Logan.

This book was funny and sweet. It was great addition to the Pack Valley world.
