Review: Each book in the Nehalem Pack collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Trevor had at one time worked for the NHS. The NHS wanted to capture and experiment on shifters, but in truth they were making shifters. The head had even experimented on his own five-year old son, turning him into the first man-made shifter. A shifter that had the ability to change a human into a werewolf. Now that he had learned the truth, he decided to help the shifters with every power in him. He just had not expected to fall in love with Jaron. It would seem Jaron was his mate.

Jaron’s father had turned him into a shifter and tortured him daily. He had managed to escape for two years but ran when the hunters came. Trevor had been one of those hunters. Now he was filled with fear but also turned the hell on. Damn, it would seem he will finally get that family who loved him, which was what he always truly wanted.

It was the perfect story for me and I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next story.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

Overall this was a decent read. But there were some issues for me.
I just didn’t really buy into Maurice and his reasoning for avoiding relationships. He is only twenty years old and seemed too jaded. Also Asa avoiding admitting that they were mates from the start was a little strange to me. Maurice knew all about shifters and mates so I think Asa should have been more up front.

But besides those issues I did enjoy the bantering back and forth the two had with each other. I find many of them funny and entertaining.

Also the sex scenes were pretty damn hot if I do say so.

As always it nice to see favorite characters from other books in the series pop in and out to add their two cents. I really did enjoy the ending and how things all worked out.

So besides some storyline issues that bugged me I did like the book and look forward to more in the series.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
The title of the book says it all. Carson and Ryan have been appearing in this series for a while as children and young teenagers. I always suspected they would tune out to be mates. I didn’t expect it happen the way it did, but I did enjoy their story. And I loved Riley, just so damn adorable.

This was a good fast paced book. I did kind of wish Carson made Ryan suffer a little more. But Carson is really too nice a guy to do that. Even if Ryan did deserve it. And let me say Carson and Ryan together are very sexy and just a little kinky.

I do like this series and this addition to it was long due in coming. I enjoyed this little read and look forward to more.

I especially want more of Maurice and little Riley. Just saying.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
This book was not really the same as the others. There was no instant love in this mating. There was a lot of hurt feeling really in the first half of it. Carter’s hurtful and cold words to Abner when they first met has caused a ripple effect in their mating. Now Abner is the cold and hurtful one.

So for the first half of the book I was leaning toward pissed off at both Carter and Abner. Instead of talking the two of them just kept hurting each other. Both in the way they talked and the type of sex they had.

I think the second half of the book was much better. More is discovered about the “coming”. The intrigue is getting deeper also as those inside the council turn to the dark and try to destroy those that make the rules.

Once Carter and Abner get their shit together things are definitely better. The sex improves and they are actually talking and learning about each other. But yeah the first part of the book left me very unsatisfied.

This book just left me feeling a little blah. The writing was good, things moved at a good pace. But the beginning just kind of ruined it for me even when things improved between Carter and Abner.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

I enjoyed the relative slowness of Dax and Colt’s mating. Because Dax has been in captivity for so long he never has been taught about mates, let alone dating. Colt is usually not a dater at all. But together they feel something drawing them together. They take their time getting to know each other and fall in love.

All that was great. It was the “something unexpected” part that ruined what would have been a good solid book for me. Without giving spoilers it’s hard to explain. But suffice to say that it boggled my mind. I actually was reading and thinking is it even in the realm of possible.

I love my paranormal, and I like the weird and unusual. However, I don’t like it when it makes me question the possibility. There has to be something, some switch, which allows me to suspend all rational logic and just go with the impossible. This just did not have it for me.

So… I very much enjoyed the romance and relationship between Dax and Colt. They were both cute and sweet. The writing was solid and had good pacing. But that little extra nugget added something the book did not need in my opinion.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

This book had a lot going on. Not only the mating of Abel and Elias, but it also revealed a new secret about the war between the light and dark. Things that were thought true are proven to be lies.

I enjoyed the mating of Elias and Abel. Both are easily likeable characters. Abel may be older than Elias but he is next to innocent about the ways of sex. Abel is so shy and skittish that the things he feels for Elias scare him at first. Elias needs to be patient and go slowly with Abel.

The funniest thing about the whole book is really that when Abel gets scared or nervous he accidentally uses his gift. So things get frozen, including his mate Elias. Total laugh out loud moments for some of those scenes, at least for me.

I really liked this book. Yes there were a few editing errors, but I overlooked them since I enjoyed the story so much. There was nice tender feeling for this one. Abel is just simply adorable to me. Elias was really the right match for him. Plus the sex was damn hot.

This was a great addition to the series.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
Damon and Toby met at very bad times in their lives. It was not the right time for either of them to be able to mate. So Damon left for the best of both of them. Only problem is when he came back the Warriors of Light had moved and were living under a cloaking spell. Flash forward six years and they have found each other once more.

Damn, these two have a hard time catching a break. Some seriously sick secrets are discovered concerning both Damon and Toby. These two have been very hurt in the past. But together they are able to be strong and help heal one another.

I liked both Damon and Toby. They are so strong to have survived the lives they had and come out still sane and good. Damon for all rights should have been a dark warrior, but he never let the evil take root. Toby experienced something no person should be put through, but he still found the strength to continue on.

This two are so damn sweet and so damn sexy together. I have been looking forward to their story since they were first introduced in the series. When they finally have sex it’s hot but also loving. Really it is the first time for both of them and they totally blew it out of the park.

These dark baddies are seriously messed up and very sick people. I love it when they get their asses kicked. Plus I cannot wait to see what some of the new characters are going to get up to. As in all, this book reveals several new things, while leaving several questions, still unanswered.

This was a really great addition to the series.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

After everything Julian has been through he definitely deserves a mate. I have to say that Daniel is really the perfect one for him.

These two are super high on the sweetness meter.

Not to say they aren’t sexy, because damn right they are. The sex between them was super-hot. But also touching, and somewhat sad at times too.

Daniel knew he was dying so he was determined to figure out who killed him best friend before it was too late. Even as he falls for Julian he knows time it limited. He just wants to complete his goal and save up enough memories to get through till the end.

Julian has suffered at lot at the hands of his dark family. He finds happiness in Daniel’s arms. But because Daniel does not have a scent mate he knows it’s just for a little while.

Once again the dark baddies are up to no good. But it does lead to a clue about Julian’s lost nephew.

I liked this paring a lot. They are adorable together and both deserve someone to love forever. It’s also nice to see past characters make a cameo. This was an enjoyable book and I was very happy with the way things worked out.

I am very much looking forward to reading more in this series. There are so many different storylines hanging in the air that I want to know about.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
This was a good start to the series. It was informative without being overly dragged down with information. I knew the basic setup of the world the author has created and the powers within a short amount of time.

So Miles is your normal everyday college student walking late at night. Right from the start I knew I liked him. He was funny even in his inner thoughts. He got better as he dealt with the paranormal world being thrown at him.

Ben is a leader of a group of warriors that fight against the evil paranormals. He is there hunting down one such evil dude, Malcolm, when he learns that Miles is his mate. Miles is also Malcolm’s mate.

I have to say I do have a soft spot for instant love and mating deals. And this is no different. It doesn’t hurt that the writing was good and fast paced. Plus the sex was reasonably hot.
I didn’t like the forced sex that happened, but luckily the author was able to save it in the end.

I enjoyed this book. The main characters were easily likable as well as many of the secondary characters. The theme, while maybe not completely different, it was very interesting and entertaining.

I look forward to reading more about the fight of good over evil and the world created.

Review: The Teacher’s Troubled Heart tells the story of Drew, a high school teacher who lives his life ruled by an event in his teens, and Cal, a tattoo artist who moves next door. The first meeting between these two marks the beginning of scorching encounters that soon turn into something more. Compatible in more ways than the physical, Cal and Drew have a great budding friendship.

However, Drew’s past rejection impedes him to ever try to give himself fully again. And so begins Cal’s battle to show understanding to an event that many would have overcome a long time ago, proving over and over that he is willing to put himself on the line for Drew. But when Drew thinks he doesn’t need help, how far and how long will Cal try without hurting himself in the process?

Thus, The Teacher’s Troubled Heart tells the story of how events affect people differently and that love alone isn’t enough to help them through: people need to want to move on. One of the things that clearly illustrate Jarrett’s idea is the very beginning of the story, where we meet

Drew as he is watching Cal through the window. This scene is a great representation of Drew’s distancing himself from what he wants, putting up a barrier to protect himself: watching from behind his window, connecting but withholding his feelings.

Jarrett’s writing is amazing, making up for the frustration the reader begins to feel towards Drew and his inability to move on. The author describes the characters in a way that make them feel life-like, ruled by human emotions that the reader identifies with. Even when we feel frustrated, Jarrett reminds us that everyone experiences things differently, and we cannot fault them for it. Hence, why the reader can’t put the book down until they find out if these characters have a happy ending or not.

On a personal level, my favorite character is Cal, who struggles through every obstacle Drew throws his way. As Jarrett describes him, Cal is not ashamed of himself even if his « tattoos and piercings might frighten other people». All his ink represents something personal and that’s how he presents himself: open and easy-going. Even after past hurts, he is not afraid to try again, even with someone as skittish as Drew. Above all else, Cal isn’t willing to lose himself over someone else.

The reason why I consider this book worthy of 3.75 Hearts is because, although I really liked the story and it’s well written, it’s not something that will remain with me for a long while.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

It has been four years since Samuel was rescued from the New Orleans shifter brothel. Samuel is slowly coming to terms about what happened to him there. But he is still working on it, and the nightmares do not always leave him alone. Things come to a head when he realizes his student loans have been completely paid off, and not by his brother. This leads Samuel on a trip to the place that everything started.

CJ never knew what his father was doing until they found Samuel in a brothel. He has spent the past four years bettering himself so that when he gets the chance he can be a deserving mate for Samuel. When Samuel shows up at his cabin, he is not sure what to expect at first. But things go better than they both expect.

I liked this addition to the series. After everything that had been done to Samuel, he deserved a happy ending and a loving mate. This was an easy read, no major drama or conflicts. It was nice to just read about two men finding and accepting each other. With hot sex and some cute moments in the mix, it was a good read.

I look forward to more in this series.

Review:  Kelly is a brand new firefighter…and not the best one, at that.  Nate is his lieutenant and always coming down on him about one screw-up or another.  After a serious breach of protocol endangers not just Kelly, but another fireman, Nate has had enough.  Unfortunately, yelling at Kelly is the last thing he wants to do when they end up alone in Nate’s office.

Set Me On Fire starts out strong.  It literally begins with Kelly fighting for his life in a house fire.  I thought the firefighter who comes to his rescue would be his love interest, but I guess AJ Jarrett thought that would be too contrived.  So, when Kelly is finally safe and Nate lights into him, I was confused by intrigued.  Their chemistry was hot from moment one.

I love both these characters.  Nate is a big ole Alpha male willing to do what it takes to get his man.  Kelly is a bundle of nerves, half the time, but willing to stand up for himself and by no means a pushover.  However, my favorite character is Nate’s big brother and boss, Andy.  He flips from boss to brother mode as needed.  It’s a shame he’s already married.

There’s just enough tension to make this a nice page-turner.  Nate means well, but his alpha nature is a bit much at times.  And god knows Kelly might be head over heels in love, but he wasn’t taking any crap from the man.  My only complaint?  I wished it had been longer.  These two are great together and I really appreciated peeking into their world.  Personally, I really liked the fact that the emergency medical procedures were realistic.  Highly recommend.

Review:  This is my favorite novella of the week…okay, so it’s my first novella of the week, but seriously…this was a very entertaining little book.

This story begins with Marie Carter dying.  That’s right, dying.  Now excuse my ignorance, but when is a main character’s death, in the opening pages ever a good thing.  Well, come to find out, dying was the best thing that could possibly happen to Marie.

Now, I wouldn’t be much of a reviewer, if I told you all that Fate has in store for Marie and the man she’s loved since Kindergarten…you’ll just have to trust me on this one.  I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say Marie has always had the soul of a gay man. 😉 This story is sometimes funny, sometimes angsty…but, always well-written.  Even the secondary characters are well worth getting to know; everyone should have a sexy guardian angel like Ross and a got-your-back big sister like Selena.  As for Shawn, poor disbelieving Shawn – he might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but even he can’t fight destiny.

If you are looking for a sweet, paranormal romance with just a touch of sensuous heat, I highly recommend Fate’s Second Chance.
