Rock N Soul

by

Lauren Sattersby

I’m Tyler Lindsey, and until recently, I had an okay apartment, an okay girlfriend, and an okay job as a bellboy at a respectable Boston hotel. Then rock star Chris Raiden died right before I brought his room service—stiffing me on the tip, by the way—and my life went to hell. My fifteen minutes of fame was more like five seconds, and my girlfriend left me in disgust.

But even worse—Chris is haunting me. Not the room where he died, like a normal ghost. No, somehow he’s stuck to me and is insisting on taking care of a bunch of unfinished business in California. So now I have to traipse across the country with the world’s most narcissistic ghost.

But . . . I keep having these weird thoughts. Thoughts about how much I like the way he makes me laugh. Thoughts where I kind of want to kiss the emo-narcissist, even though he’s a ghost and an asshole and I can’t touch him anyway. And even if I could, what will happen when he finishes his business and nothing’s keeping him here anymore?

Blurb: Life with vamps is never easy.

Abernathy Meyers is already mated to a vamp, Zebulon. It’s just too bad that Zebulon doesn’t give a darn about him. Abbie’s stuck with the man for eternity—or until they die. Some days, Abbie thinks that can’t happen soon enough. He’s tired of being treated badly, yet he doesn’t really want to make his earthly exit yet.

Because he’s longed for another man—another vampire—for years. Forbidden love—is anything more compelling, or more heart-breaking?

There’s a twisted past, a hidden story linking Abbie, Zebulon and the coven leader, Claude.

Claude lives with a fear of turning to dust at any moment. It isn’t reasonable, but he can’t shake it. He’s let his own fears impede his potential happiness, and instead he puts the needs of his coven first, ignoring his own. But if he’s deliberately blind to one particular human’s needs because that human is a mate to another vampire, then is Claude truly leading to the best of his ability?

It’s a tough question for him to answer and soon, he’ll have to make a choice that will affect him and Abbie, forever.

Review: This was a great addition to the series. Finally Claude, the leader of the coven, gets a mate. And it turns about to be Abernathy. Their history together was very interesting to read about. Because of certain perceived notions Claude lost his chance with Abernathy years ago. This lead to both Claude and Abernathy to suffer for decades.

Lucky for both Claude and Abernathy, Zebulon finally does something that allows them to be together how they were meant to be. It was so sweet and pretty damn hot when they were finally able to claim one another.

This book was a fast read and very enjoyable. I spent as much time laughing at the antics of the coven members as I did cheering on Claude and Abernathy. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I love the characters Bailey Bradford has created.

Jay Walking by Jacques N. Hoff

Blurb: Welcome to the avian shifter world of Undercover Peckers. Where love is instant the moment you find your mate. Where there’s only one true pecker for every man. Where the sex is so hot it will singe your tail feathers. Where bird watching is both a recreation and a preoccupation—that usually leads to feathers flying.

Simon Spoonwell—intrepid bird store owner and history geek—knows avian shifters exist. With so much myth and lore, there must be a touch of reality. But, he doesn’t expect his proof to come in the form of hottie cop and blue jay shifter Jay Azure. It’s an innocuous ticket for jaywalking that brings them together, but an inescapable attraction, a love of awful puns, and a shared need to protect the vulnerable will make them true mates.

Review: Simon Spoonwell has always been fascinated with anything to do with birds. Now he owns his own store called A Bird in Hand.

Jay Azure is a police officer that has a bit of an attitude and temper. He is put on an undercover assignment to bust jaywalkers down town. Immediately meeting Simon jay knows he has found his mate but has no idea how to set out to win him over after thoroughly pissing him off by ticketing him 250 dollars for jaywalking.

So right away, do you see the fun with words? If the title and the cover didn’t alert you that this book was going to be lots of fun and pretty hilarious, this little bit should clue you in. The story is chocked full of bird puns, cute animal scenes and some pretty hot man-sex. I can’t really say much else without giving away any-more details, but I will say it will leave you crowing with laughter. I will definitely be following this fun series!

If you like, bird watching, vegetarians, birds, blue jays, cops, not your usual shifters, humour, bird jokes, and some fairly hot man-sex this is definitely for you!

Review: Well as far as ghost goes this guy is funny, weird, but funny. Cal was an actor who was flat broke, so when a lawyer contacts him he is quite surprised. Especially when he finds out that, the lawyer is contacting him about his ex-boyfriend. It would seem Max had committed suicide and left everything he had to Cal. Three million dollars was a lot of money and to Cal it was just strange that a man who swore that he didn’t love him and left him behind would leave this money to him. The only problem was Max wasn’t leaving him alone. Or should I say Max’s ghost would not leave him be.

When Cal gets there, he is met by Dewey, the lawyer for Max’s estate. Cal is quite taken by Dewey and wants to get to know him better however Max didn’t want that. He wanted Cal to die and join him in the afterlife. Which of course Cal turns down. The only problem is Max is driving him insane. Goosing the real estate woman and scaring her, inserting himself in Cal and Dewey’s sex life and just plain talking to him every time he turned around had Cal trying to figure out how to get rid of him. I got to say when I picked this story up I didn’t think this was what I had in mind. I laughed my ass off at every turn in this book. Dewey, once Max shown himself to him, decided to help Cal get rid of him. Setting up a compromise, even arguing with a ghost had him bewildered but he wanted his man. This story has quite a bit of humor to it and a lot of surprise’s inside of it. If you want a great laugh, you need to read this book.

I loved the way Dewey and Cal act with each other. Once Cal gets over some problems he sees, they hit it off pretty good. I liked how both characters slowly open up to each other, and the trust that Dewey puts in some of the things that Cal talks about, to the help he wants to give. I must say though this story is a bit far out there. It just doesn’t come off as believable to me. I will recommend it though because it was one of the funniest stories I had read in a long time. I did wish for more sex scenes however. One kinky sex scene with both characters and a ghost had me smiling for more.
