Blurb: When the aliens arrived on Earth, it turned out that Plato was right. You really can find your other half – your soulmate, and Matt found his. Now he’s got an unbreakable mental bond to his mate and some intriguing telekinetic abilities to explore. Full of excitement, Matt returns to his old life, but he’s completely unprepared for the anger and rejection he encounters because of his bond with Pietr. Shunned and assaulted, Matt realizes the hard way that you can never go back. Especially not when you’re bonded with the enemy.
Giving up isn’t an option, though. Even though Matt’s pretty sure that Pietr’s the most annoying alien in history, he’s also sure that his mate is more important to him than anything else. But Matt’s mental strength is increasing, and Pietr can no longer hide the one secret he’s been desperate to keep. Matt’s world falls apart, and he’s not sure if he’s ever going to be able to put it back together.
He might not have a choice. The hostility between humans and Himika is increasing, and Matt is forced to face some unwelcome truths about his own nature in order to ensure not only his own survival, but that of his fellow human beings as well.
Himiko: Warrior is the sequel to Himiko: Bonding and must be read in order.
Review: Matt finally gets to go home, to his business, his friends and his own home but things are not the same. He is shunned by his friends and his business has become difficult, but he always has his mate and that more than makes up for it… that is until the truth of Pietr’s job comes to light. Pietr kept a secret from his bond-mate and now its bit him on the ass, as his mate begins to understand the truth of the Himika it’s time to take a stand against the Assessor.
An absolutely incredibly written book with a solid story-line and plot which gives us more ground building about the Himiko (for world building read Himiko: Bonding). In this one we have the continuation of the story and we pick up with Matt heading home and eager to pick up his life where he left it, when he was ‘harvested’ by the aliens but now he has his alien mate Pietr and nobody is happy about how he has returned. Matt tries his best to get on with his life and you can understand his withdrawal when you see the way he was treated by his so-called friends and then his anger and fear when he realizes what Pietr’s job is. Pietr is brilliant as he supports Matt and the guilt and shame that he feels about his job is well portrayed and the fear and helplessness that he feels as well is brilliantly done.
The secondary characters are brilliant and we get to know all of them quite well with more background on them (Sam, Jerry, Robbie and Aki). We met them all in the first book but they definitely shored this book up brilliantly and made it sparkle with that little bit extra. Their stories will touch your heart and make you love them. Well, I have to say I think this author is insane, completely and utterly insane if he thinks that we will be happy with the Himiko ending now. just when it gets really gritty and good, there is so much potential for at least a couple of books and I would love a story that is all about Sam and Jerry.
This is definitely a satisfying story that flows smoothly from beginning to end. so I recommend this to all who loves science fiction, hot sex, psychic powers, angst, conflict and a happy ever after.
