Review: This was one of the most tender, sweet stories I have ever read. Josh loses his sight when him and his now ex-boyfriend went kayaking at night. He hit his head on a rock and went under the river, leaving him in a coma for two days and blind for the rest of his life. His ex left him. Telling Josh it was because he felt so guilty, but Josh thinks, at least in his heart, that it was because he was broken. His two best friends decide to take him to a camp for the blind, run by Charlie Cooper. Charlie has a rare form of cataracts, and even after several surgeries, is endanger of losing his sight, permanently.
Meeting Josh was a wonderful thing and a little scary for Charlie, due to the fact that his ex got rude to him and violent. However, in his heart he starts feeling love for Josh. He’s still scared, but willing to try. After a trip to see his doctor, he was told that he would be permanently blind in just a few weeks, unless he had a cornea transplant done. He wants to see where the relationship with Miles may lead, but fear is a terrible thing.
Miles and Charlie are both wonderful characters. And not just them, but the whole ensemble of characters were great. Watching the guys with some of the younger campers was so sweet. I really believe that Mile’s friends were key to how he handled his new disability. I loved this story and it will be one that I can sit back and re-read over and over…
