Hi guys! M.J. O’Shea has popped in today to show off her upcoming release Pawsitively In Love. M.J. shares with us 5 things to do in Tacomba, Washington, the setting of Pawsitively In Love! Enjoy! <3 ~Pixie~
Pawsitively In Love
What Austin Lloyd lacks in academics, he makes up for in his love of the animals who frequent his pet salon. He’s not lucky in romance, though, and his family would like him to settle down with a good man. Austin—and his golden retriever, Maggie—couldn’t agree more.
Evan Partridge isn’t good at letting people in. His messy family life and the past that’s shaped him aren’t worth bringing up. But his pug, Dexter, sure likes the pet salon owner.
Austin and Evan get off to a rough start, but being friends soon turns into something more. Unfortunately, Evan’s secretive behavior nearly does the relationship in, and the budding love affair almost crashes and burns when Evan’s troubled sister shows up on his doorstep.
Not speaking to each other is killing them both, but Evan doesn’t know how to keep Austin and help his sister at the same time. He just knows he has to try. Winning back Austin’s trust back, however, is going to take a whole lot of work.
M.J. O’Shea & 5 Things to <3 about Tacoma, Washington!!
Pawsitively In Love is a little different than the rest of my books for one reason… I set the book in my own neighborhood! I figured Tacoma has a lot in common with its big sister Seattle, but it hasn’t gotten a lot of love in the book world. Even from me. So here are five things that I love about Tacoma.
I live here! Okay, that might not be a big draw for other people but it definitely matters to me J I’ve lived in Tacoma, North Tacoma specifically, most of my life other than when I went away for school. I set the book right in historical North Tacoma – at the grocery store where I shop, the park three blocks from the house I grew up in, even his pet salon is right on the street where I live now. It was actually a little hard to describe places I knew so well but it was a fun challenge for me.
It’s pretty old 🙂 Not all of Tacoma is old, but there are a ton of really great historical buildings. Some blocks, you can easily see the shapes of an old west street. There was an earthquake here in the 50s that knocked some gems down, but a lot of them still remain. Sometimes I like to drive around my part of town with a coffee and just look at them. Sure, I’ve seen them a million times but it seems like every time I look, I see something new.
Downtown Tacoma. Unlike the north end, the downtown area of the city had some rough years when I was a kid, but there has been a huge renaissance starting in the early 2000s. Dale Chihuly (the famous glass artist) is from here and he opened a glass art museum with a bunch of outdoor installations around downtown. With the art came a new university, refurbished parks, a slew of restaurants and clubs, and brand new waterfront apartment buildings. What used to be pretty creepy is now exactly the opposite.
It’s foodie paradise – between the restaurants, farmer’s markets, and gourmet grocery stores, you can get nearly anything you could possibly want. I know I take advantage of it on a daily basis!
It’s really pretty <3 Ocean, lakes, mountains, and trees are everywhere you look.
And those are the five things J If you want to read more about Pawsitively In Love (or me!) There is some more info below. Please come find me on social media. I love to chat with people.
I’m Mj O’Shea 🙂 I grew up, and still live, in sunny Washington state and while I love to visit other places, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.
I spent my childhood writing stories. Sometime in my early teens, the stories turned to romance. Most of those were about me, my friends, and our favorite movie and pop stars. Hopefully, I’ve come a long way since then.
When I’m not writing, I love to play the piano, dance, cook, paint pictures, and of course read! I like sparkly girly girl things, own at least twenty different colored headbands, and I have two little dogs who sit with me when I write. Sometimes they comes up with ideas for me too…when they’re not busy napping.
