Captain Nick Steele discovers that being married to an Astrogator isn’t as easy as he’d thought it would be. Not that Astrogator Cai was an issue, for they remained deeply, passionately in love with one another, but everyone else seems to have an issue with it, especially the administrators of the Psionics Guild.

To what lengths will the Guild go to separate Nick from their Astrogator? What price is Nick willing to pay to keep Cai? What will Cai give up to keep Nick?

Review: I thought it sad that everyone had an issue with Nick and Cai being together. I thought they fit very well and made for a cute couple. The Psionics Guild shocked me at what they tried to do to separate them.

Although this is one of the strangest series I have ever read it is entertaining if not confusing at times.

Good read.

Review: Very interesting read with breathtaking descriptions of space and a space battle. The Rel seemed determined to take the Laughing Owl out when they were discovered and attacked. Nick was surprised when the crew knew he and Cai were together.

Plenty of hot sex between Cai and Nick all throughout. Well written. Intense scenes, dramatic and daring maneuvers made for a good read.

Blurb: The colonists all report seeing the same thing—Santa Claus.

With their maiden voyage behind them, the crew of the Laughing Owl is sent on a mission to ferry scientists to an odd planet where, according to reports, Santa Claus has been sighted, flying high in a sleigh pulled by reindeer. Nobody’s sure what Santa’s up to—he hasn’t delivered a single present.

Captain Nick Steele agrees with the scientists who propose that Santa is a mass hallucination and probably the result of some unknown compound in the water, air, or food. But Astrogator Cai isn’t so sure, because if Santa is a hallucination, everyone on the planet is having the same hallucination, identical to the smallest detail.

As Christmas approaches, will the crew of the Laughing Owl solve the mystery of the hallucinogenic Santa or will the man prove to be real by delivering presents in the dead of night?

Blurb: To love another is worth the risk of burning out one’s mind.

Captain Nick Steele is young to be in command of a starship, and his Astrogator, Cai, is fresh from the Guild Halls himself, which is not how things are supposed to be done. It’s bad enough that they’re both wet behind the ears, but Nick quickly discovers that he’s irresistibly drawn to Cai like a moth to a flame, with the same relative risks the moth faces.

Cai proves the stronger man when he tells Nick in no uncertain terms that he can’t risk burning out Nick’s mind for the sake of some physical pleasure. As their ship spirals into the dark heart of Tarasch, will Nick ever overcome Cai’s objections to their mutual attraction?

Review: Nick and Cai want each other. Cai knows it’s wrong and he is afraid he might accidentally destroy Nick’s mind with his telepathy if things went too far. He decides not to act on his feelings for the sexy Captain.

The Laughing Owl is on their first mission to finish mapping out Tarasch. Beautiful views of space as well as an attack by an unexpected alien ship made for a good read. The dreams shared by Cai and Nick were hot. The actual sex was passionate.

I could actually feel how Cai and Nick felt for one another throughout the entire story. It made me sad that Cai felt they couldn’t be together and that the guild frowns on astrogators being with anyone. Good read.

Review: Nick is a very bright young man living with daily abuse at the hands of his father until one day he kills him protecting his sister. His life turns for the better when Gilly adopts him and his sister. Nick is then accepted into the school of his choice and begins his training.

Jason is what is considered a brainiac who is bullied and beaten up at school. He begins to hear voices and goes to get tested for PSI. While waiting for the results, his father informs him he’s sending him to military school to toughen him up. Jason is upset and leaves only to be kidnapped after this begins the introduction of Cai who can’t remember anything before waking up in pain and not knowing who he is.

While the story was good, it bothered me that the Guild was able to take teenagers under the age of 18 without their parents knowledge or consent and do surgery on them, changing them. That was highly disturbing to me. Some of the terms used I didn’t understand.
The two young men meet when the cadets are taken to learn about the astrogators.

All in all, it was a good read.
