Blurb: Seattle trauma doctor Patrick Quinn has never been in love. In fact, he’s never even had a long-term relationship. In his limited personal life, getting a date is only half the problem. Being able to keep it, despite emergency duties in the ER, is the other. So though he’s interested in Trevor Oneil, a man he meets on a dating site, he decides to take it slow.

Trevor moved to Seattle looking for a fresh start. Recently single and lonely in his new city, he works business hours as an anesthesiologist, hoping a better work-life balance will make it easier to meet someone. Patrick might be just what he’s been hoping for.

Then disaster hits and a severely injured Trevor lands in Patrick’s ER. Unable to work on Trevor, Patrick feels helpless. He wanted to ease into a relationship, but he’s already attached. Then Trevor’s past comes rushing in to take him away from the dangers of Seattle. If Trevor and Patrick’s new love is to survive the drama, Patrick will have to own up to what he wants—and fight for it.

Review: Patrick has never had a real relationship, between medical school and then working at a busy hospital he never really had any time, but he feels it is time to look for someone to share his life with and joins a dating site where he finds Trevor, a man who should understand his work schedule and broken dates. Trevor has been in Seattle for just few months, finding it hard to make new friends he lets his best friend in Chicago convince him to give internet dating a shot, when he gets a message from Patrick he thinks things are looking up, even if Patrick wants to get to know him better before they meet. When Trevor ends up as a patient in Patrick’s ER, Patrick realizes his feelings are much deeper than he thought and now he has to fight for what he really wants.

This is a good story that shows the developing feelings of two men and the devotion they both feel as they fall in love. Patrick comes across as a calm, quite man, he is at the stage in his life where he wants a partner to come home to and spend his time off with, but will also understand that his job comes first. Trevor is slightly boisterous and down to earth and wants a partner of his own and he understands the demands of a high-pressure job, after all his last relationship failed because of his, when the two men finally meet they hit it off and it is the beginning of a wonderful relationship.

The story is written in both characters point of view, switching between Patrick and Trevor and giving us their own thoughts and feelings throughout the relationship. Each perspective change is clearly marked so we know whose head we are in, we also get a good feel for each character this way, and their different personalities come through clearer. The storyline is good but it missed out slightly in certain places, like the reason why Trevor ended up in hospital, it would have been wonderful to have seen Patrick supporting Trevor through a trial and seeing the overall outcome. It would have been nice to see a follow-through of the awkward situation with Colin (Trevor’s ex) and seeing more of Callie (Trevor’s best friend) during his recovery.

Although this story is a wonderful romance, it progressed quite quickly to the ‘I love you’ stage, yes they communicated with e-mail, text messages and phone calls, but they only spent a short time in each other’s company before they plunged into the deep end with their feelings, so although it was naturally done it also felt too quick. The sexually side was hot, loving, and nicely written and their feelings for each other shine through. Both characters are nicely written and the ups and downs they go through are great and adds tension to the story.

I will recommend this book to those that love true romances, great characters, a good storyline, hot sex, some angst, a touch of drama and a very happy ending.
