Blueprint
R.J. Jones
If only building the foundation for a lasting relationship was as easy as drafting the blueprint.
Jet Black doesn’t date. Even if he wanted a man beyond sex, his ever-watchful identical twin scares potential suitors away. Jet lives with his brother, but since Gray fell in love with Kris, Jet feels like a third wheel. Despite their bond, Jet knows he needs to move out and experience life for himself, whether Gray likes it or not.
After his father dies in a boating accident, Ethan Nichols is devastated. As the last survivor of his family, he realizes the need to put down roots. He leaves Australia and returns home to San Francisco and his old architectural firm. But there’s more to building a new life than simply moving house.
Jet and Ethan’s first encounter is brash and anonymous, but when Ethan moves across the hall, their lives become irrevocably linked. Jet is quirky and fun loving, while Ethan is rock steady and dependable. There’s no denying the passionate spark between them.
But Ethan is looking for a more solid foundation than Jet is ready to offer. Until Jet learns to spread his wings and trust Ethan with his darkest secrets, building a life together will be impossible.
**This can be read as a standalone, however it is best enjoyed reading the series in order as side characters play a major role.**

“When I came home tonight, I wanted to see you because there’s something I want to tell you. It was late but I’d planned on going to the club and giving you a lift home. Why weren’t you at work tonight?”
I shuffled over, closing the nonexistent space between his chest and my back. “I think I’m going to quit. Working there doesn’t feel right anymore and I’m not enjoying it as much as I used to.” Before meeting Ethan I used to work at Magz more, taking on extra shifts because I was saving for my own place, but my relationship was more important than moving out. “What did you want to talk to me about?”
“On my way home tonight, I took a call from a… colleague in Australia. He’s coming out here for a little while and asked if he could stay with me.”
My chest tightened a little. “A colleague?”
“Yes.” Ethan let out a slight breath before continuing. “We had a short-lived affair but realized that we were too different to make a go of it.”
“And he’s going to stay here? With you?” Please say no.
“No. I offered him Dad’s place for the duration of his stay, which is only a few days before he goes on to New York. It wouldn’t be right for Grant to be here when I’m with you. We haven’t been together in years, and I don’t see him that way anymore.”
“Oh. Does he still…? Does he…?” I couldn’t complete the question.
“No, I don’t think so. He’ll be up for a couple of beers over lunch, though.” Ethan kissed the back of my neck. “I wanted you to know. I don’t want to hide anything from you.”
Rolling over in Ethan’s arms, I wrapped myself around him, pressing tighter into his warm, smooth skin. He was being so open with me, so honest, yet I couldn’t find it within myself to tell him about my father. “Thank you,” I whispered, tears slowly making their way down my cheeks.
Ethan rubbed my back until I calmed, then arranged me till I had my head on his chest, listening to the steady cadence of his heartbeat. “Sleep now.”
“I love you,” I whispered, the thump beneath my ear lulling me to the land of nod.
Ethan kissed my hair. “I love you too. Don’t ever doubt that.”

About R.J.
R.J. Jones started as a reader and eventually made the progression to reviewing. It wasn’t until two men popped into her thoughts, insisting on telling her their story that she started to write.
It started with one scene. A hot and dirty one in the shower…
R.J.’s initial thought was if she could write their scene then they’d shut up and allow her to concentrate on other aspects of her day. Not so. That shower scene ended up being 3000 words long and three hours of work. And still, they didn’t shut up. They told her their entire story and she didn’t sleep for days. Sometimes she couldn’t keep up with what they were telling her and she had to keep a notebook by her bed.
Whilst she was writing their story a side character decided he needed his story told too. Then other characters followed suit.
You see the problem? If she ever wants to sleep again then she needs to write.
R.J. is a wife and a mother to two boys. She is surrounded by males. Even her dog is a boy.
RJ writes emotionally charged, character driven romances. Her guys will always get their HEA, but it will never be easy.

Review: This can be read as a standalone; however it is best enjoyed reading the series in order as side characters play a major role.
Ever since Gray had let their father beat Jet within an inch of his life, he has gone out of his way to keep Jet safe. It is driving Jet nuts. He wants to move out and have a life of his own but his twin is standing in the way. To top it off the man scares every date Jet has off. Not that Jet wants anything more than a one night stand, it would be nice if they stayed to have some hot sex. That changes when Ethan moves in next door, or should I say across the hall.
Ethan’s father is more of a father in this sense. After his dad passed away in an accident, Ethan decided to come home. He had no family left but has decided to start over again. Then one hot encounter with Jet has him wanting more than just a taste. Too bad Jet doesn’t want that, well maybe with Ethan’s help his mind might just be changed.
The plus for this story was the fact that it wasn’t single point of view but both. Although I am not really one for being told whose point it is every time it changes. I just want it to flow normally, however R.J. Jones rocks it one more time. There is a bit of angst and pain in it but not as one would expect from the past that Jet had. It was a bit more even to me. This story just seemed to flow off the pages and left me smiling the whole day.
Now for me I have read the previous books when they first came out and I really wished I had read them once more before starting this because now I have to. Even though Gray drove me nuts with his constant whining about Jet wanting to move out, he still is a favorite of mine. Now as stated above it can be read as standalones but trust me you want to read the other books. They are so much better with all of the characters known and their past lives.
I would definitely recommend this book. I had a lot of fun reading it and look forward into another story by this author. Way to go R.J..
