Blurb: Dean Thomas grew up in a homophobic family. He has spent his adult life hiding who he is. Now he’s ready for a new start in a new town.

Jesse James Dalton gave his heart away and had it broken. But when he walks into his twin sister’s bakery, Sweet Things, and sees the town’s new veterinarian, his heart gets a jolt.

Review: This is a novella (?), which follows into Faith Gibson’s book Double Stuffed Eclair. The main characters are Jesse James Dalton and Dean Thomas. Jessie meets Dean, who is the new vet in town now that his uncle is retiring, at his twin sister’s bakery. There is an instant attraction but there are a number of little issues that are contending against them for the time being.

I hate to overuse the words sweet and cute, but that is exactly what this is, probably partly why it was originally written/published as a Valentine’s Day collection. The biggest problem I have is after these guys meet, with some fantastic sexual tension and a massive spark, the story abruptly ends after they have sex.

Some are going to be disappointed by the lack of character development as well as the abrupt end. For example, does Dean come out to his uncle, if not his family? Or does his family not factor as important to this story at all? But don’t be! It might not completely satisfy everyone, but the sequel novel, Double Stuffed Eclair, does feature both Jesse and Dean, even if this novel is about Jesse’s twin, Annie Mae.
