Excerpt

I’ve been feeling a little backed up lately. I haven’t been able to get myself off the way I usually can. This is the first time in three days I’ve even been hard enough to try.

When Caleb slips his slender fingers down the front of my jeans, I slouch further to create some space for him to reach in. My hands go to his narrow hips and feel his tight core muscles move with every breath he takes.

He kisses across my stubbled jaw and pulls up my shirt, dragging his fingertips down my side and making me shiver.

I’m trying not to picture anyone else while he unzips me and pulls my shaft from my jeans.

“You got a Prince Albert?” He has my semi in his hand and is inspecting it like he’s never seen one before. “It looks great.”

“Thanks.” I don’t want him to talk. I want him to focus on getting me hard and making me forget about the boy that belongs to someone else. “You got a rubber with a reservoir tip? I forgot to bring one.”

“I got you covered, babe.” He laughs at the corny joke he probably makes five times a night as he reaches into his jacket and selects the right protection. The only reason I’m willing to pay Caleb is that he always uses protection. Always.

He gingerly fits the condom over the ring in my head then unrolls it the rest of the way down, immediately taking me into his mouth once I’m sheathed. After some expert ministrations with his tongue and lips, I’m fully erect and starting to get into it. As Caleb works his magic with his hands underneath my balls, I’m closer to the point that’s eluded me for days. My mind keeps going to those ivory fingers reaching out to me earlier and my hand lands on Caleb’s head.

Review: I’ll start by saying that I have not read books 1 or 2 in this series. I felt as though I was missing out on some character development or history, having said that though I didn’t feel lost at any time.

For a story on the shorter side, there’s a lot of emotion packed into it. I loved the almost instant connection between Steve and Joey. I found Steve’s inner struggle with trying to take things slowly with his “little duck” to be more telling of his character than any amount of words or actions any author could have written. You can’t help but feel Joey’s pain. He’s caught between needing to be free of Topher’s abuse and to have his submissive nature cultured. There is definitely some hints of a Dom/sub relationship but not really strong enough for me to feely label it a D/s genre.

As for the physical chemistry between our main characters, well let’s just say it’s definitely there in spades, as the cliche’ goes. There’s only a few truly steam packed scenes but boy are they packed! I don’t know if we’ll see more of Steve and Joey’s story in future entries to the series but they are certainly characters I’m not really ready to let go of yet.

  1. Right now, sleep would make me happy. In general, spending stress free time with my family. 🙂

  2. What makes me happiest is being surrounded by people who love me and who I love. My cats makes me pretty happy too 🙂

  3. So long as i have quiet, coffee, and a book, i am happy. (oh, and my daughter lol!) 🙂

  4. No particular order: I love books, music, Muppets, hockey, good food (cooking and eating), coffee, art, guys, my family…the list goes on!
