Blurb: On the surface, the business of the infamous House of Silence is obvious enough, but its carefully cultivated veneer of political neutrality is threatened when a lover from Master Charon’s youth arrives with an urgent message from the queen, prompting jealousy from Reiji and putting the whole house on edge.

The House’s unique resources are called upon to investigate one of the local cabals, which are overstepping its bounds, snatching up disproportionate amounts of territory and capital beyond its domain. When Tam goes missing, Charon and the boys are caught up in a web of intrigue, peril, and sensuality that may end up costing them their lives. (M/M)

Review: This book was so good I don’t know where to start. It is filled with mystery intrigue and nail-biting suspense with dark undertones, lots of emotion and of course hard-core sex.

House of Silence is a series and this is the third book. I have to say it’s my favourite. I will be adding HOS to my list of favourite series this year, Charon and Reiji as one of my favourite couples.

There are lots of emotional drama in this story. We get a deeper look into the lives of some of the regular boys such as Reiji, Tam, Danny and Vincent. And in this book, we add in Nao, from the last book. Tam, Reiji and Charon are the focus of the story but we still get a good look into some of the other characters from the past two books. By the way, this series each can stand alone but I think you’d get a much better feel by reading them in order since the characters do move from book to book, though the plots are different to a degree in each book.

I have to say this was my favourite part of the book and is in it from beginning to end. Each sex scene between these two are so hot you need an ice-bath. They really show each other’s personality plus why they make such a perfect couple. If ever two people were made for each other these two are. Even the one ménage scene was amazing. It wasn’t about the sex at all but I won’t say any more you really need to read this to see what I am talking about. The sex scenes Tam were in especially the ones on the job really showed, his personality and his endurance. The ones with Brand were on another more emotional level. Then of course we had Vincent and Aburon, these two deserve their own book and could vie easily for hottest couple. There is also a couple good ones between a few of the boys. Yes, there is a lot of sex in this book. Some of it is very rough and chilling, some very sweet and sensual and some just pure hot mansex. But the book is about a bordello for the rich and royal. I even have to give the author props on the antagonist of this story. I couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for him, yet want to string him up and beat the crap out of him too.

The story itself was full of nail-biting suspense when Trent Devereaux shows up as the Queen’s Liaison. We find that he was Charon’s first lover and love and the flames still smoulder in both men. He presents Charon with a new task since he is taking the place of Montgomery (he is in book two if you want to know more about him.)
The Cabals are at war with each other and a smaller Cabal is rising taking control of all the smaller ones now setting sites on the big ones Family members are disappearing from some of the bigger, leading Cabals. Charon’s task is to invite one of the prominent players from the Cabal that seems to be taking over as no one knows who the actual leader is but Sasha Monet is a key player. Charon does extensive background checks to anyone that comes into the House so this gives a way to tackle a very detailed background check while the boys of the House keep the man occupied. This is where the suspense begins and you go on one heck of a ride full of twists and turns; nonstop, shocking ones at that.

I highly recommend this book if you love a great series that is well-developed, lots of intriguing characters, Lords. Police officers, Cabals (mobs), suspense, mystery, betrayal, and deception, BDSM, Ménage, blood-play, D/s, other fetish and some really hot ManSex. You name it. It’s probably in this book.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review by MM Good Book Reviews.
