Blurb: What lurks in Dartmoor?

After his father’s death, Finn Darcy returns to his ancestral home to become chief of his werecat clan. The mysterious Druids Lodge lies nestled in the shadows of Dartmoor National Park, where the legendary Beast of Dartmoor, a large panther, roams the woods and moors.

Finn cannot take his place as the head of the clan before he claims his mate, Luke Devlin, the one he marked while when they were children. Feeling he was deceived at the start of their relationship, Luke refuses to accept his fate. He bides his time, determined to escape when the opportunity presents itself, before Finn’s jealous and possessive dual nature destroys everything they have left.

But then werecats and their mates start disappearing, and Finn is adamant his mate must be protected at all costs. Events take a grim turn when Finn is abducted and forced to fight for his life. Luke must choose between his chance at freedom or saving Finn.

Review: Finn Darcy, panther shifter returns to his family home after a death in the family. His reluctant mate Luke Devlin, who he marked when they were younger, has been staying at the family home. With the hope that Luke’s anger at him has passed he attempts to get close to Luke to no avail. Meanwhile there is disturbing news of werecats and their mates disappearing.

Luke seriously pissed me off. If he hated Finn so much then why did he keep going around him? Why did he have sex with him? Seemed so unbelievable that someone who hated someone that much would have a change of heart suddenly.

I have to say I didn’t like this story. It was not a smooth read even though there were no errors in it. I felt that the majority of the book was about Luke still hating Finn for what he did. As a result I felt irritated at the halfway mark wishing it would end. The mystery of the werecats disappearance was mentioned, but did not come in to play until almost the end of the book  and then it was rushed.

I did not like this book, but gave it a three for the work put into it.
