The Case of The Cupid Curse

Sam Enderson is a human detective who inherits a building from where his Uncle used to run a detective agency. He finds himself working for paranormal creatures despite his resolve to stick with humans only. To supplement his income as a new PI Sam rents out rooms in the large house.

Bob is a vampire and turns up on Sam’s doorstep to rent a room. Sparks fly and Sam is attracted to the vampire despite himself.

Sam is cursed by a witch, and has two cases landing on his desk. Werewolves, annoying ghosts and a grumpy gargoyle are enough to drive Sam mad. But somehow in amongst all of this he has to find a missing fae and a missing shifter child.

The Case of the Wicked Wolf

Naiads, humans, sirens and a challenge for Alpha make up the intricate story in the race to rescue the missing children.

Sam and Bob have more than just the case of one lost child to handle. Not only is Shelby Hartman missing, but other paranormal children have disappeared. The race to rescue the children is hampered by naiads, humans, sirens and a challenge for Alpha.

Hartman Hunter is desperate to find his daughter. He turns to the demon Danjal Naamah for help. The problem is that Danjal is the only person Hartman has ever loved—the man he let go for the sake of the pack…

About Amber & R.J.!

Amber Kell author picAmber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life, he told her to go have fun.
During those seconds she isn’t writing, she remembers she has children who humor her with games of ‘what if’ and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband’s insistence she doesn’t drink enough to be a true literary genius, she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres.

Review: This book contains two stories which are about one hundred pages each. The second case actually starts in the first story so I would recommend reading them in order.

R.J. and Amber have always fascinated me with their stories. The worlds that these two authors write about are not only a lot of fun but they are so unique that my attention is always captured right off the bat. This is the first time that I have read something that both wrote, so I knew that I would definitely get a kick out of it.

Book 1 – The Case of The Cupid Curse

Sam’s uncle had left him a home and a business when he passed. Although he was one hundred percent human, or so he thinks, the business deals with the paranormal world. He has not been a fan of wolves, witches, warlocks, and vampires. He thought becoming a private investigator would give him a better standing then being a book seller. Boy was he off in the head when he thought that. Right off the bat, he is getting some crazy customers. He just wanted a new life, one that did not include his cheating ex.

Bob is a sexy vampire who answered an ad for an apartment, shared by Sam. After trying to glamour him, Bob realizes Sam is not completely human. However try telling Sam that is like getting kicked in the balls. He just knows he is falling in love and will protect his man.

First a witch curses him, then a triad fae is missing their triad, a werewolf alpha’s daughter is kidnapped and all hell is breaking loose it would seem. To top it off he has a very grumpy gargoyle, a grouchy ghost and now a talking cat, what else could happen in a day. I loved the humor that this story brings out. Solving this case, might earn him a lot more than a sexy vampire intent on bedding him.

Book 2 – The Case of the Wicked Wolf

You start this case in the first book and what a blast it is. Alpha Hartman’s daughter Shelby is missing. Sam, Bob and their crazy crew is set out to locate the child. However it turns out that Shelby is not the only missing paranormal child. It would seem that the ones who are holding the children are only capturing young girls, holding them till they are mature enough.

In this you get Sam’s part but also the alpha’s part, showing another relationship building. However we have the past resurfacing to make Sam’s life even more troublesome. It seems his ex is a leach in more ways than one. Although Sam is getting some very interesting ‘special’ gifts from some very crazy characters. I don’t see Sam and Bob working on any human cases in the future.

Throughout their ordeal Sam and Bob’s relationship has moved on to being mates. The black cat he inherited from a witch gone bad, has given him some interesting gifts. We have also not learned what Sam is yet, which is a blast hearing him repeat that he is only human. I loved watching the alpha reconnect with the one man he loved. It would seem that vampires, humans and werewolves can in fact work together.

Overall

This has been one hell of a fun book. Both stories are not only entertaining but had me laughing my ass off as well. What had fascinated me at first was the title of not only each story but the series name as well. I love paranormal romances and when you add in a mystery I am pretty sold on it. Here you have a human, or not, working as a private eye for paranormals. You get a whole new set of different types of paranormals to deal with. The fun part was everyone asking poor Sam ‘what are you?’ I could just imagine his expression each and every time.

This caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me everything I could want in a book. The romance part was not the main focus which was a pleasant surprise, at least for me. I loved both books and can’t wait to start on the next one.

This is one book I would definitely recommend.

Review: This book contains books three and four of this series, and I would suggest you start with book one as each case actually starts in the previous book. Each story focus on our main couple but also a new couple as well. What a trip.

R.J. and Amber have always fascinated me with their stories. The worlds that these two authors write about are not only a lot of fun but they are so unique that my attention is always captured right off the bat.

Book 3- The Case of the Dragon’s Dilemma

Sam has a new case, he just hasn’t realized it right off the bat. One of the children that they managed to rescue has a big secret that she is not sharing with anyone. Thank god Mikhail has a similar background as the girl. When Sam and Bob take their newly adopted daughter to school, it leaves Mikhail babysitting the silent child they rescued. And rescue they need for when the sirens attack, it brings a very mysterious hero to their aide. A hero who just happens to be Mikhail’s mate.

Wow, Mikhail is mated to a dragon shifter. Jin is in charge of his men and it was his duty to protect the princess. However he feels guilty is misplaced, seeing as he was off duty. Man, try changing a stubborn man’s mind. When the sight of a dragon’s heart has appeared, it means they have been betrayed by one of their own.

Get these two together and you can see the smoke. However Mikhail is afraid, since he was around power and royalty most of his life. It is going to take everything in Jin, to get Mikhail to accept what is now his. That is after they kick some serious ass.

Damn this was a fun book. Dragons, sirens, vampires, and so many new characters each day. I still get a kick out of the ghost and the black cat though. I do believe Sam is starting to see that he is not completely one hundred percent human, although getting him to agree might just be as bad as pulling teeth.

Book Four-The Case of the Sinful Santa

Now you get a necromancer who has killed his mate, not realizing that the angel was his mate, and intent on bringing her back to life. The whole problem with that was that he had turned completely evil. It will take an angel to bring him to justice and to save those around him.

Nick is Santa’s nephew and has not had a great life as one would think. It would seem that elves are a bit self-absorb and are just total asshats. So what does he do, he goes out and gets his drink on. I don’t think he had expected to find a man that turned him the hell on with just a kiss. Nor did he expect the man to disappear right afterwards.

Zephariel is the Angel of Vengeance and he has finally found his mate. Which in heaven is not a good thing, too bad he doesn’t have time to deal with that since he has to get rid of the zombies. Thank god his little mate is damn good at taking out zombies as well. To top it off, Mal is mixed in with the whole mess. This is going to make Sam and Bob, go nuts.

The old joke about an angel and Nick walking into a bar comes to mind. With the help from Nick, Zeph and his friends, Sam sets out to stop another crime from happening. I love how each of these stories are so damn funny.

Review: Each story in this series focus on two sets of couples. The first couple is Sam and Bob, whereas the second couple are new in a way. This is a series that would be best read in order, because each story starts in a previous book and finishes in the new one.

Book 05: The Case of the Purple Pearl

Now I must admit that this one was a bit different than the others. It seemed as each story progressed they seemed to lose the light heart theme it had. It did not seem to have any humor with this one like the others, which was a bit dull to me. It came off not flowing as well as the others did for some reason.

It would seem that the gargoyle in Sam’s office is not a true gargoyle at all. Hal is cursed to stay this way forever unless someone could find the cure. He had been tricked into leaving his mate, to do a trial governed by the Queen of the Fae. His mate was the prince, and the queen did not approve. It was going to take Sam to find out how to help Hal return to his true self and to get his love back.

Idris had told Hal not to go on the trial; Idris’ mother said Hal would never return. He had believed that Hal didn’t want to come home or was dead; he had not expected to learn Hal was a gargoyle these days. When Sam kills the Queen, it sets the motion of what is going to happen. It would seem his dream of having human cases, has once again led him astray. Let’s face it, Sam is just stuck.

Now I have to admit that I didn’t care for this particular story. I definitely didn’t care for the ending at all. I was disappointed to say the least. Now a foolish man should never try to prove his worthiness to keep a man, especially when a wicked mother is setting it into motion. It never turns out the way they would think. However this is a very action packed story that will have you on the edge of your seat. Although we do now have a hint of what Sam is.

Other than how I felt about this particular story, I do look forward to seeing what the next book will be like. The characters are a blast, and there are many characters. I would definitely recommend it.

Book 06: The Case of the Guilty Ghost

Ettore lost his mate many, many years ago to his one of his brothers.  The loss caused him pain especially because it saved his life.  Now he has given his life to save another brother of his.  The pain of having his soul ripped away from him by Aset Ka would be horrible.  To his shock Aset Ka wants him for another purpose and sends him back.

The whole time Bob is grieving for the loss of his brother.  He prays for his brothers soul, while his mate is on the outside holding it all together.  Then a call takes Sam from the castle and back to his detective agency… right to their friendly ghost, Teddy.  Teddy is seems is Ettore’s mate that has been dead for many years.  Confused yet, well read this book, it will be a blast.

It is a very fascinating story and I got a kick out of it.  I was surprise to find out who Teddy was and I have got to say that these authors made my day.  I was glad to see Teddy get a happy ending.  He is one of my favorite characters of all time.

This story has danger, excitement, suspense, surprise and some pretty hot sexy time in this book and that is just a bit of what you will find.  I can guarantee that this is one series you will fall in love with.
