Review: Liam Carlington is the supposed spoiled rich kid. He frequents bars and gets ripped with his bodyguard, sleeps around, dropped out of college and has no job, but he wants for nothing. In reality, all his bad behaviour stems from a broken heart. His childhood best friend and lover left him, and left Liam devastated in the process. He left college and quit working at his parent’s vineyard because he was seriously depressed after the breakup. When his latest outing ends with his bodyguard being stabbed while protecting him, Liam gets a new bodyguard. And in the process of dealing with another loss, he might just find the one thing that can help him heal.

Scott Jackson is tall, blonde and gorgeous. His good looks, seriousness and take-charge attitude catch Liam’s eye immediately. But the harder Liam flirts the harder Scott rebuffs his young charge. Scott assumes there is no way to protect Liam and share his bed. Scott is also hiding a few secrets from Liam, about his past and he’s not being entirely honest with Liam about the reason he was hired to protect him. The two men are put in harm’s way more than once, and every time they end up face to face with each other.
In a moment of weakness aided by alcohol and an intense mutual attraction, Liam and Scott take their relationship to the next level. But broken hearts, misguided trust and a psycho definitely put a damper on things.

Let me start by saying, Cover Love! The cover and the synopsis drew me to this story like a magnet. This story had just the right mix of mystery, romance, angst and detailed character storylines for a novella. My biggest issue was the anti climatic ending. While I had a pretty good idea of who the bad guy was early on, the story still kept me intrigued and the relentless flirting of Liam with Scott made this book so much fun. But when the shit hit the fan, so to speak, it was too easy.

Overall, this was a fast, fun read with a lot of meat on its bones for so few pages. I look forward to the sequel and seeing where Wynne takes these characters with the sequel.
