Blurb: My name is Jamie Atwood, and I am an idiot. Against all odds, I got the attention of Michael Kage, the hottest MMA fighter on the planet. To say he rocked my world would be an understatement. He transformed me completely, made me depend on him, and made me love him. And the sex? Let me put it this way: I’d never been with a guy before I met Kage, but I’d gladly spend the rest of my life on my knees for him. He is my obsession and my addiction. But I did something stupid, and now I’m paying for it.

I don’t know if I’ll ever see Kage again.
***
Being Michael Kage was never easy. Too many demons, too much anger, and not enough to live for. And then I met Jamie Atwood. He’s got this innocence about him that speaks to something deep down inside me- in a place that’s never been touched by anyone. He’s beautiful, smart, and courageous, and he hasn’t been tainted by the darkness that’s ruled my life. I wanted him from the first second I laid eyes on him. It’s selfish, I know. Because you can’t bring an innocent thing into the darkness and not expect something to rub off.

Review: I’ve waited for this book with no patience what-so-ever, and I guess I should’ve known we’d get another cliffhanger (ok I kinda suspected it), but never in a million years would I have imagined this particular cliffhanger. So while I prepare myself for the long wait until the nest book is released, let me tell you what I thought of this one…. I liked it lot, but I didn’t love it as much as the first.

I was under the wrong impression that this book was exclusively from Kage’s POV, and I was so excited about it, but unfortunately we only get a couple a chapters from him, and the rest are left to Jamie.

That’s not a good thing, because Jamie is childish, immature, and to be perfectly honest, he pissed me the fuck off; I wanted to strangle the idiot, especially once he got his stupid idea about how to make Kage jealous. How can a 21-year-old have no sense of self-preservation I’ll never understand, but there were better ways to deal with the problem than trying to get himself raped. In a way I feel sorry Kage got there in time, because Jamie deserved to get his big stupid mouth double stuffed (among other things).

I loved Kage’s POV, only I wished it was more about himself and his past, as well as his feelings about Jamie, rather than the training camp and the upcoming UFC fight. I feel like we didn’t get enough of the important stuff, so Kage is still a damn mystery, not to mention the wasted opportunity of helping the readers connect with Kage’s character.

I also noticed a severe lack of intense emotions on Kage’s side, which I got more of during the first book which wasn’t even told from his POV. Bottom line is, I needed more, a lot more than we got.

Other than being too much in Jamie’s head, there was one other thing I don’t understand and was left unexplained to us: how did Kage’s uncle manage to manipulate the communications between Kage and Jamie? I get that he doesn’t want Jamie and believes he’s beneath Kage (I tend to agree with him), but the fact that Kage and Jamie couldn’t communicate with each other for weeks wasn’t even discussed between the two of them.

But then they didn’t even have much time for talking, seeing as they were two busy having hot, filthy sex, and then the big cliff-ending put a stop to that opportunity.

This book was still very good, the writing was great, and if you liked book 1, then you’ll probably like this one too.
