“Aubrey, can we talk about something else for a bit?”

Aubrey let out a hearty laugh. “Whatever you want, Bry.”

He ran through other topics in his mind. Rolling his nuts wasn’t helping his brain cells conjure up any non-sexual conversation points.

“What’s it like there? I went to that festival one time a few years ago, but I didn’t get to see much of Milan. There were some epic acts playing though, the whole event was really sweet.”

“Epic, huh?”

Middle age jumped up and kicked him in the nuts he’d just been happily fondling. Bryan continued as if Aubrey’s reaction had been an invitation to describe the so-labeled epicness of the acts. As he listened to the deep tenor of Bryan’s voice, he remembered how it had sounded crying out Aubrey’s name when he’d come.

Gradually, Aubrey latched onto the excitement behind what Bryan said. There was nothing jaded in Bryan’s words. The corrupt machine that ran the music industry had no bearing on Bryan’s love of the artists the said machine backed. Soon, Aubrey was drawn in, wanting to know more about some of the newer acts he hadn’t paid attention to during his years of seclusion.

Review: Bryan is a music journalist and all his dreams have come true. He has the job, the rockstar and life he has always wanted. Aubrey confused me as to why he wouldn’t be honest with someone he starts a relationship with. It seemed to be a recipe of disaster to me.

I really wanted to love this story as I usually love all this author’s books. But this one had me feeling like either I was missing something important in the storyline or something was missing altogether. Although well written and with a fantastic storyline I just could not connect with the characters.

After writing this much of the review I discovered there was a prequel book before this one that I did not know about. I did not go back and read the first one as I felt it would have been a waste of time considering I had already finished this book.

But despite not knowing of the other book this one is a good read as it follows the budding relationship of Bryan and Aubrey and the consequential secret that Aubrey is keeping. Plenty of drama and hot action to keep the reader intrigued and interested.

Great read.
