Blurb: A male prostitute, a mangy cat, a murder and an obsession that threatens his career, his impending marriage and his life. Nothing is going as planned for Austin Glass.

Austin Glass seems to have it all, A loving fiancée, a future with the FBI and a healthy sized trust fund. At least on the surface. He also has a grin and a wisecrack for every situation. But the smile he presents to the world hides a painful past he’s buried too deeply to remember, and his quips mask bitterness and insecurity. Austin has himself and most of the whole world fooled—until he meets a redhead in a pair of bunny slippers.

As events unfold in the biggest case of his life, Austin’s carefully planned future unravels, and he finds himself pushed into making quick, life-changing decisions. But can he trust himself or anything he feels, when each event seems to be just a series of volatile reactions?

Review: This was a surprise find for me as I find it difficult to find self-published authors unless they send a book to Portia or they are a well-known author, now this one I found on All Romance Ebooks for just $2.99… a bargain plain and simple (actually it’s daylight robbery… the author could have charged a lot more and I would have paid it).

Austin is a weird one plain and simple, he’s quirky, snarky, gets up people’s noses, cruel, superficial, spoiled, and really fucked up emotionally (authors words) and… if you talked to him in the street there’s a chance that you’d back away slowly while calling for the guys in the white coats. I LOVED HIM. Peter is a guy trying to keep his family safe any way he can and he will do anything to keep them safe, Peter is in the authors words obsessive, snarky, bossy, controlling, sleeps with men for money, uses sex to deflect conversations, and manipulative, God I love these characters.

This book has it all and it is brilliantly written, now maybe it’s the authors own choice but after reading this book I can’t understand why a publisher hasn’t snatched her up and got her tied to a steel lined contract for her next 500 books (she has 2 more planned). The characters in this book are brilliant and not just the MCs, they all have their own personalities which gives the book a more realistic feel, the story-line is great and although in some places a bit wacky you could just imagine it all really happening (well I could).

This book is full of craziness, there are great one liners, Austin’s mind keeps going off on a tangent (Bunny Slippers), Austin’s life heading off the rails (Bunny Slippers), Peter doesn’t really trust Austin or anyone, character interaction is fantastic, there is a suicide history in Austin’s past, rape is mentioned (but no on page description), murder, an Albanian mother pops in, a Russian mafia connection comes back to haunt, bipolar disorder, and a mangy cat named Begone (that could be a demon in disguise or a gargoyle).

This book is for those of us who love a bit of crazy fun madness every now and again, there’s obsession, and there is danger, violence, dirty cops, secrets from years long past, personal discoveries, hot sex, deceptive people and a promise of Cai’s story (Not So Innocent) I highly recommend this one. Now I know we will not hear from the author (here’s why http://slashfiction.org/an-open-letter-to-reviewers-and-readers/ ) so I will just say here that I look forward to your next book and I hope it’s released soon ;-).
